< Selemaia 46 >

1 Ko e folofola ʻa Sihova ʻaia naʻe hoko kia Selemaia ko e palōfita ki he kakai Senitaile.
The word of the LORD which came to Jeremiah the prophet against the Gentiles;
2 Ki ʻIsipite, pea ki he tau ʻa Felo Niko ko e tuʻi ʻo ʻIsipite, ʻaia naʻe ʻi he vaitafe ko ʻIufaletesi ʻi Kakemisi, ʻaia naʻe taaʻi ʻe Nepukanesa ko e tuʻi ʻo Papilone ʻi hono fā ʻoe taʻu ʻo Sihoiakimi ko e foha ʻo Siosaia ko e tuʻi ʻo Siuta.
Against Egypt, against the army of Pharaohnecho king of Egypt, which was by the river Euphrates in Carchemish, which Nebuchadrezzar king of Babylon stroke in the fourth year of Jehoiakim the son of Josiah king of Judah.
3 “Mou fekau ke ʻai ʻae fakaū mo e pā, pea fakaofiofi mai ki he tau.
Order all of you the buckler and shield, and draw near to battle.
4 ‌ʻAi ʻae nāunau ki he fanga hoosi, pea mou fakaheka ʻae kau heka hoosi, pea tuʻu mai mo homou tatā tau; fakangingila ʻae ngaahi tao, ʻai ʻae ngaahi kofutau.
Harness the horses; and get up, all of you horsemen, and stand forth with your helmets; polish the spears, and put on the protective armor.
5 Ko e hā kuo u mamata ai kiate kinautolu, kuo nau manavahē, pea fakaholomui? Kuo tā hifo honau kau mālohi, kuo nau hola vave, pea ʻikai sio ki mui: he naʻe tuʻu takatakai ʻae manavahē,” ʻoku pehē ʻe Sihova.
Wherefore have I seen them dismayed and turned away back? and their mighty ones are beaten down, and are fled swiftly, and look not back: for fear was round about, says the LORD.
6 “ʻOua naʻa tuku ke puna atu ʻae veʻe vave, pe hao ʻae tangata mālohi; te nau tūkia, pea tō ki he potu tokelau, ki he veʻe vai ʻo ʻIufaletesi.
Let not the swift flee away, nor the mighty man escape; they shall stumble, and fall toward the north by the river Euphrates.
7 Ko hai eni ʻoku ʻalu hake ʻo hangē ko e vai lahi, ʻoku ngaue hono ngaahi vai, ʻo hangē ko e vaitafe?
Who is this that comes up as a flood, whose waters are moved as the rivers?
Egypt rises up like a flood, and his waters are moved like the rivers; and he says, I will go up, and will cover the earth; I will destroy the city and the inhabitants thereof.
9 Mou ʻunuʻunu mai ʻae fanga hoosi; pea fakamataliliʻi ʻae ngaahi saliote; pea tuku ke ʻalu atu ʻae kau tangata mālohi ʻi he tau; ko e kau ʻItiopea mo e kau Lipea, ko kinautolu ʻoku puke ʻae fakaū; pea mo e kau Litia, ʻoku toʻo ʻo teke ʻae kaufana.
Come up, all of you horses; and rage, all of you chariots; and let the mighty men come forth; the Ethiopians and the Libyans, that handle the shield; and the Lydians, that handle and bend the bow.
10 He ko e ʻaho eni ʻoe ʻEiki ko Sihova ʻoe ngaahi kautau, ko e ʻaho ʻoe houhau koeʻuhi ke ne tautea ʻe ia ki hono ngaahi fili: pea ʻe fakaʻauha ʻe he heletā, pea ʻe mākona ia, pea fakakona ʻaki ia honau toto: he ʻoku maʻu ʻe he ʻEiki ko Sihova ʻoe ngaahi kautau ʻae feilaulau ʻi he potu tokelau ʻi he vaitafe ko ʻIufaletesi.
For this is the day of the Lord GOD of hosts, a day of vengeance, that he may avenge him of his adversaries: and the sword shall devour, and it shall be satiate and made drunk with their blood: for the Lord GOD of hosts has a sacrifice in the north country by the river Euphrates.
11 ‌ʻE taʻahine ko e ʻofefine ʻo ʻIsipite, ʻalu hake ki Kiliati ʻo toʻo mai ʻae lolo faitoʻo: ʻe taʻeʻaonga ʻae ngaahi faitoʻo lahi kiate koe; koeʻuhi ʻe ʻikai te ke moʻui.
Go up into Gilead, and take balm, O virgin, the daughter of Egypt: in vain shall you use many medicines; for you shall not be cured.
12 Kuo fanongo ʻae ngaahi puleʻanga ki hoʻo mā, pea kuo pito ʻae fonua ʻi he tangi: he kuo fepaki ʻae tangata mālohi mo e tangata mālohi, pea kuo na hinga fakatouʻosi.”
The nations have heard of your shame, and your cry has filled the land: for the mighty man has stumbled against the mighty, and they are fallen both together.
13 Ko e lea naʻe folofola ʻaki ʻe Sihova kia Selemaia ko e palōfita, ki he haʻu ʻa Nepukanesa ko e tuʻi ʻo Papilone ke taaʻi ʻae fonua ko ʻIsipite.
The word that the LORD spoke to Jeremiah the prophet, how Nebuchadrezzar king of Babylon should come and strike the land of Egypt.
14 “Mou fakahā ʻi ʻIsipite, pea fakaʻilo ʻi Mikitoli, pea fakahā ʻi Nofe mo Tapanesi: mou pehē, ‘Tuʻumaʻu, pea ke teuteu; koeʻuhi ʻe fakaʻauha takatakai ʻiate koe ʻe he heletā.’
Declare all of you in Egypt, and publish in Migdol, and publish in Noph and in Tahpanhes: say all of you, Stand fast, and prepare you; for the sword shall devour round about you.
15 Ko e hā kuo tafe atu ai ʻa hoʻo kau mālohi? Naʻe ʻikai te nau tuʻu, koeʻuhi naʻe kapusi ʻakinautolu ʻe Sihova.
Why are your valiant men swept away? they stood not, because the LORD did drive them.
16 Kuo ne fakahingaki ʻae tokolahi, ʻio, kuo nau fetaʻotaʻomi: ko ia naʻa nau fepehēʻaki, ‘Tuʻu pea ke tau toe ʻalu ki hotau kakai, pea ki he fonua naʻe fāʻeleʻi ai ʻakitautolu koeʻuhi ko e heletā ʻae mālohi.’
He made many to fall, yea, one fell upon another: and they said, Arise, and let us go again to our own people, and to the land of our nativity, from the oppressing sword.
17 Naʻa nau tangi ʻi ai, ‘Ko e longoaʻa pe ʻa Felo ko e tuʻi ʻo ʻIsipite; kuo ʻosi ʻae kuonga naʻe tuʻutuʻuni.’
They did cry there, Pharaoh king of Egypt is but a noise; he has passed the time appointed.
18 ‌ʻOku pehē ʻe he tuʻi, “ʻAia ko hono huafa ko Sihova ʻoe ngaahi kautau, hangē ʻoku ou moʻui, ko e moʻoni ʻe hangē ko Tepoa ʻi he ngaahi moʻunga, pea hangē ko Kameli ʻi heʻene ofi ki tahi, ʻe pehē ʻene haʻu.
As I live, says the King, whose name is the LORD of hosts, Surely as Tabor is among the mountains, and as Carmel by the sea, so shall he comes.
19 ‌ʻE ʻofefine ʻoku nofo ʻi ʻIsipite, teuteu koe ke ke ʻalu ki he fakapōpula: koeʻuhi ʻe fakalala ʻa Nofe, pea ʻe fakaʻauha ke ʻosi hano kakai.
O you daughter dwelling in Egypt, furnish yourself to go into captivity: for Noph shall be waste and desolate without an inhabitant.
20 “ʻOku tatau ʻa ʻIsipite mo e pulu fefine siʻi ʻoku fakaʻofoʻofa ʻaupito, ka ʻoku haʻu ʻae fakaʻauha; ʻoku haʻu ia mei he tokelau.
Egypt is like a very fair heifer, but destruction comes; it comes out of the north.
21 Pea ʻoku tatau mo e fanga pulu kuo fangapesi ʻa hono kau tangata totongi; pea kuo nau foki ki mui, pea kuo nau hola fakataha: naʻe ʻikai te nau tuʻu mai, koeʻuhi naʻe hoko mai ʻae ʻaho ʻo hoʻonau tuʻutāmaki, pea mo e ʻaho ʻo ʻenau tautea.
Also her hired men are in the midst of her like fatted bullocks; for they also are turned back, and are fled away together: they did not stand, because the day of their calamity was come upon them, and the time of their visitation.
22 ‌ʻE ongo hono leʻo ʻo hangē ko e ʻalu ʻae ngata; he te nau ʻalu atu kiate ia mo e kau tau, te nau haʻu kiate ia, mo e ngaahi toki, ʻo hangē ko e kau tā ʻakau.
The voice thereof shall go like a serpent; for they shall march with an army, and come against her with axes, as hewers of wood.
23 ‌ʻOku pehē ʻe Sihova, “Te nau tuʻusi hifo hono ngaahi vao ʻakau, neongo ʻoku ʻikai faʻa kumi ki ai; koeʻuhi ʻoku nau tokolahi ʻi he fanga heʻe, pea taʻefaʻalaua.
They shall cut down her forest, says the LORD, though it cannot be searched; because they are more than the grasshoppers, and are innumerable.
24 ‌ʻE fakamaaʻi ʻae taʻahine ʻIsipite; ʻe tukuange ia ki he nima ʻoe kakai mei he tokelau.”
The daughter of Egypt shall be confounded; she shall be delivered into the hand of the people of the north.
25 ‌ʻOku pehē ʻe Sihova ʻoe ngaahi kautau, ko e ʻOtua ʻo ʻIsileli; “Vakai, te u tautea ʻae kakai tokolahi ʻo No, mo Felo, mo ʻIsipite, mo honau ngaahi ʻotua, pea mo honau ngaahi tuʻi; ʻio, ʻa Felo mo kinautolu ʻoku falala kiate ia:
The LORD of hosts, the God of Israel, says; Behold, I will punish the multitude of No, and Pharaoh, and Egypt, with their gods, and their kings; even Pharaoh, and all them that trust in him:
26 Pea te u tukuange ʻakinautolu ki he nima ʻokinautolu ʻoku kumi ki heʻenau moʻui, pea ki he nima ʻo Nepukanesa ko e tuʻi ʻo Papilone, mo e nima ʻo ʻene kau tamaioʻeiki: pea ʻoku pehē ʻe Sihova, Hili ia ʻe toki fakakakai ia, ʻo hangē ko e ngaahi ʻaho ʻi muʻa.
And I will deliver them into the hand of those that seek their lives, and into the hand of Nebuchadrezzar king of Babylon, and into the hand of his servants: and afterward it shall be inhabited, as in the days of old, says the LORD.
27 “Kaeʻoua naʻa ke manavahē, ʻE Sēkope ko ʻeku tamaioʻeiki, pea ʻoua naʻa ke puputuʻu, ʻE ʻIsileli, “He vakai, te u fakamoʻui koe mei he mamaʻo, pea mo ho hako mei he fonua ʻoku nau pōpula ki ai; pea ʻe liliu mai ʻa Sēkope, pea te ne mālōlō, mo fiemālie, pea ʻe ʻikai fakamanavahēʻi ia ʻe ha tokotaha.”
But fear not you, O my servant Jacob, and be not dismayed, O Israel: for, behold, I will save you from far off, and your seed from the land of their captivity; and Jacob shall return, and be in rest and at ease, and none shall make him afraid.
Fear you not, O Jacob my servant, says the LORD: for I am with you; for I will make a full end of all the nations where I have driven you: but I will not make a full end of you, but correct you in measure; yet will I not leave you wholly unpunished.
