< Selemaia 29 >

1 Pea ko eni ʻae ngaahi lea ʻoe tohi ʻaia naʻe tohi ʻe Selemaia ko e palōfita mei Selūsalema ki hono toenga ʻoe kau mātuʻa naʻe fetuku fakapōpula, pea ki he kau taulaʻeiki, mo e kau palōfita, pea ki he kakai kotoa pē ʻaia naʻe fetuku fakapōpula ʻe Nepukanesa mei Selūsalema ki Papilone;
And these [are] words of the letter that Jeremiah the prophet sent from Jerusalem unto the remnant of the elders of the removal, and unto the priests, and unto the prophets, and unto all the people — whom Nebuchadnezzar removed from Jerusalem to Babylon,
2 (Pea hili hono ʻave mei Selūsalema, ʻa Sekonia ko e tuʻi mo e tuʻi fefine, pea mo e kau talafekau, ko e ngaahi houʻeiki ʻo Siuta, mo Selūsalema, mo e kau tufunga, pea mo e kau tufunga ukamea; )
After the going forth of Jeconiah the king, and the mistress, and the officers, heads of Judah and Jerusalem, and the artificer, and the smith, from Jerusalem —
By the hand of Eleasah son of Shaphan, and Gemariah son of Hilkijah, whom Zedekiah king of Judah sent unto Nebuchadnezzar king of Babylon — to Babylon, saying,
4 “ʻOku pehē ʻe Sihova ʻoe ngaahi kautau, ko e ʻOtua ʻo ʻIsileli, kiate kinautolu kotoa pē kuo fetuku fakapōpula, ʻakinautolu kuo u puleʻi ke fetuku mei Selūsalema ki Papilone.
'Thus said Jehovah of Hosts, God of Israel, to all the removal that I removed from Jerusalem to Babylon,
5 ‘Mou langa ʻae ngaahi fale, ʻo nofo ai pea tō ʻae ngaahi ngoue, mo kai hono fua;
Build ye houses, and abide; and plant ye gardens, and eat their fruit;
6 Mou toʻo kiate kimoutolu ʻae ngaahi uaifi, pea fakatupu ʻae ngaahi foha mo e ngaahi ʻofefine; pea fili ʻae ngaahi uaifi ki homou ngaahi foha, pea ʻatu homou ngaahi ʻofefine ki honau ngaahi husepāniti, koeʻuhi ke nau fanafanau ʻae ngaahi foha mo e ngaahi ʻofefine; koeʻuhi ke mou fakatokolahi ʻi ai, pea ʻoua naʻa fakatokosiʻi.
Take ye wives, and beget sons and daughters; and take for your sons wives, and your daughters give to husbands, and they bear sons and daughters; and multiply there, and ye are not few;
7 Pea kumi ke melino ʻae kolo ʻaia kuo u puleʻi ke fetuku fakapōpula ʻakimoutolu ki ai, pea hūfia ia kia Sihova: he te mou maʻu ʻae fiemālie ʻi hono melino.
And seek the peace of the city whither I have removed you, and pray for it unto Jehovah, for in its peace ye have peace.
8 He ʻoku pehē ʻe Sihova ʻoe ngaahi kautau, ko e ʻOtua ʻo ʻIsileli; ʻoua naʻa tuku ke kākaaʻi ʻakimoutolu ʻe hoʻomou kau palōfita mo e kau fiemana ʻoku ʻiate kimoutolu, pea ʻoua naʻa tokanga ki he ngaahi misi ʻoku mou misi ʻaki.
'For thus said Jehovah of Hosts, God of Israel, Let not your prophets who [are] in your midst, and your diviners, lift you up, nor hearken ye unto their dreams, that ye are causing [them] to dream;
9 He ʻoku nau kikite loi kiate kimoutolu ʻi hoku huafa: ʻOku pehē ʻe Sihova, naʻe ʻikai te u fekau ʻakinautolu.’
For with falsehood they are prophesying to you in My name; I have not sent them, an affirmation of Jehovah.
10 “He ʻoku pehē ʻe Sihova, ‘ʻOka ʻosi ʻae taʻu ʻe fitungofulu te u ʻaʻahi kiate kimoutolu, pea te u fakamoʻoni ʻeku lea lelei kiate kimoutolu, pea pule ke mou toe haʻu ki he potu ni.
'For thus said Jehovah, Surely at the fulness of Babylon — seventy years — I inspect you, and have established towards you My good word, to bring you back unto this place.
11 He ʻoku pehē ʻe Sihova, ʻOku ʻiate au ʻae ngaahi tuʻutuʻuni, kuo u tuʻutuʻuni kiate kimoutolu, ko e ngaahi tuʻutuʻuni ki he fiemālie, kae ʻikai ki he kovi, koeʻuhi ke foaki hoʻomou ʻamanaki kiate kimoutolu ʻi he ikuʻanga.
For I have known the thoughts that I am thinking towards you — an affirmation of Jehovah; thoughts of peace, and not of evil, to give to you posterity and hope.
12 Pea te mou toki ui kiate au, pea te mou ʻalu ʻo lotu kiate au, pea te u fanongo kiate kimoutolu.
'And ye have called Me, and have gone, and have prayed unto Me, and I have hearkened unto you,
13 Pea te mou kumi mo ʻiloʻi au, ʻoka mou ka kumi kiate au ʻaki homou loto kotoa.
And ye have sought Me, and have found, for ye seek Me with all your heart;
14 Pea ʻoku pehē ʻe Sihova, Te mou ʻilo au: pea te u liliu homou fakapōpula, pea te u tānaki ʻakimoutolu mei he ngaahi puleʻanga kotoa pē, pea mei he ngaahi potu kotoa pē naʻaku kapusi ʻakimoutolu ki ai, ʻoku pehē ʻe Sihova; pea te u toe ʻomi ʻakimoutolu mei he potu ko ia naʻaku pule ke fetuku pōpula ki ai ʻakimoutolu.’
And I have been found of you — an affirmation of Jehovah; and I have turned back [to] your captivity, and have gathered you out of all the nations, and out of all the places whither I have driven you — an affirmation of Jehovah — and I have brought you back unto the place whence I removed you.
15 “Koeʻuhi kuo mou pehē, Kuo fokotuʻu ʻe Sihova kiate kitautolu ʻae kau palōfita ʻi Papilone;
'Because ye have said, Jehovah hath raised up to us prophets in Babylon,
16 Ka kuo folofola pehē ʻa Sihova, ki he tuʻi ʻoku nofo ʻi he nofoʻanga ʻo Tevita, pea mo e kakai kotoa pē ʻoku nofo ʻi he kolo ni, pea mo homou kāinga kuo ʻalu atu mo kimoutolu ki he fakapōpula;
Surely thus said Jehovah concerning the king who is sitting on the throne of David, and concerning all the people that is dwelling in this city, your brethren who went not forth with you in the removal;
17 ‌ʻOku pehē ʻe Sihova ʻoe ngaahi kautau; ‘Vakai, te u fekau kiate kimoutolu ʻae heletā, mo e honge, mo e mahaki fakaʻauha, pea te u ngaohi ʻakinautolu ke hangē ko e ngaahi fiki kovi, ʻaia ʻoku ʻikai faʻa kai, ko e meʻa ʻi heʻene kovi.
Thus said Jehovah of Hosts, Lo, I am sending among them the sword, the famine, and the pestilence, and I have given them up as figs that [are] vile, that are not eaten for badness.
18 Pea te u tautea ʻaki ʻakinautolu ʻae heletā, mo e honge, pea mo e mahaki fakaʻauha, pea te u tukuange ʻakinautolu ke ʻave ʻakinautolu ki he ngaahi puleʻanga kotoa pē ʻo māmani, ke hoko ko e malaʻia, mo e fakaofo, mo e manukiʻanga, mo e ongoongo kovi, ki he puleʻanga kotoa pē ʻaia kuo u kapusi ʻakinautolu ki ai:
And I have pursued after them with sword, with famine, and with pestilence, and have given them for a trembling to all kingdoms of the earth, for a curse and for an astonishment, and for a hissing, and for a reproach among all the nations whither I have driven them,
Because that they have not hearkened unto My words — an affirmation of Jehovah — that I sent unto them by My servants the prophets, rising early and sending, and ye hearkened not — an affirmation of Jehovah.
20 “Ko ia mou fanongo ki he folofola ʻa Sihova, ʻakimoutolu kotoa pē ʻoku fakapōpula, ʻakimoutolu kuo u ʻave mei Selūsalema ki Papilone:’
'And ye, hear ye a word of Jehovah, all ye of the captivity that I have sent from Jerusalem to Babylon,
21 ‌ʻOku pehē ʻe Sihova ʻoe ngaahi kautau, ko e ʻOtua ʻo ʻIsileli, kia ʻEhapi ko e foha ʻo Kolaia, pea mo Setikia ko e foha ʻo Māseia, ʻakinaua ʻoku kikite loi kiate kimoutolu ʻi hoku huafa: Vakai, Te u tukuange ʻakinaua ki he nima ʻo Nepukanesa ko e tuʻi ʻo Papilone; pea te ne tāmateʻi ʻakinaua ʻi homou ʻao;
Thus said Jehovah of Hosts, God of Israel, concerning Ahab son of Kolaiah, and concerning Zedekiah son of Maaseiah, who are prophesying to you in My name falsehood: Lo, I am giving them into the hand of Nebuchadrezzar king of Babylon, and he hath smitten them before your eyes,
22 Pea ko e meʻa ʻiate kinaua ʻe tupu ai ʻae lea fakamalaʻia ʻi he kau pōpula kotoa pē ʻo Siuta ʻoku ʻi Papilone, ʻo pehē, Ke ngaohi koe ʻe Sihova ke hangē ko Setikia pea hangē ko ʻEhapi, ʻaia naʻe tutu ʻi he afi ʻe he tuʻi ʻo Papilone;
And taken from them hath been a reviling by all the removed of Judah that [are] in Babylon, saying, Jehovah doth set thee as Zedekiah, and as Ahab, whom the king of Babylon roasted with fire;
23 Koeʻuhi kuo na fai kovi ʻi ʻIsileli, pea tonoʻi ʻae uaifi ʻo hona kaungāʻapi, pea kuo na lea ʻaki ʻae ngaahi lea loi ʻi hoku huafa, ʻaia naʻe ʻikai te u fekau kiate kinautolu; he ʻoku pehē ʻe Sihova, ʻOku ou ʻiloʻi, pea ko hono fakamoʻoni au.”
Because that they have done folly in Israel, and commit adultery with the wives of their neighbours, and speak a word in My name falsely that I have not commanded them, and I [am] He who knoweth and a witness — an affirmation of Jehovah.
24 Ke ke lea pehē foki ki Simaia, mei Nehelami, ʻo pehē,
'And unto Shemaiah the Nehelamite thou dost speak, saying,
25 ‌ʻOku folofola mai ʻa Sihova ʻoe ngaahi kautau, ko e ʻOtua ʻo ʻIsileli, ʻo pehē, Koeʻuhi kuo ke ʻatu ʻae ngaahi tohi ʻi ho hingoa ʻoʻou ki he kakai kotoa pē ʻi Selūsalema; pea kia Sefania ko e foha ʻo Māseia ko e taulaʻeiki, pea ki he taulaʻeiki kotoa pē, ʻo pehē,
Thus said Jehovah of Hosts, God of Israel, saying, Because that thou hast sent in thy name letters unto all the people who [are] in Jerusalem, and unto Zephaniah son of Maaseiah the priest, and unto all the priests, saying,
26 “Kuo fakanofo koe ʻe Sihova ko e taulaʻeiki ko e fetongi ʻo Sihoiata ko e taulaʻeiki, koeʻuhi ke mou hoko ko e kau tauhi ʻi he fale ʻo Sihova, koeʻuhi ke ʻilonga ʻae tangata kotoa pē ʻoku faha, pea mahalo ko e palōfita ia ke ʻai ia ki he fale fakapōpula pea mo e ʻakau fakamaʻu vaʻe.
Jehovah hath made thee priest instead of Jehoiada the priest, for there being inspectors of the house of Jehovah, for every one mad and making himself a prophet, and thou hast put him unto the torture and unto the stocks.
27 Ko ia, ko e hā naʻe ʻikai te ke valoki ai kia Selemaia ʻo ʻAnatoti, ʻaia ʻoku ne pehē ʻe ia ko e palōfita ia kiate kimoutolu?
And now, why hast thou not pushed against Jeremiah of Anathoth, who is making himself a prophet to you?
28 He naʻa ne fekau kiate kimautolu ʻi Papilone, ʻo pehē, ʻOku fuoloa ʻae fakapōpula ni, mou langa ʻae ngaahi fale, pea nofo ai; pea tō hoʻomou ngaahi ngoue, pea kai hono fua.”
Because that he hath sent unto us to Babylon, saying, It [is] long, build ye houses, and abide; and plant ye gardens, and eat their fruit.'
29 Pea naʻe lau ʻae tohi ni, ʻe Sefania ko e taulaʻeiki ki he telinga ʻo Selemaia ko e palōfita.
And Zephaniah the priest readeth this letter in the ears of Jeremiah the prophet.
30 Pea naʻe toki hoko ʻae folofola ʻa Sihova kia Selemaia, ʻo pehē,
And there is a word of Jehovah unto Jeremiah, saying,
31 Fekau atu kiate kinautolu kotoa pē kuo fakapōpulaʻi, ʻo pehē, “ʻOku pehē mai ʻe Sihova, ko e meʻa ia Simaia mei Nehelami; koeʻuhi kuo kikite ʻe Simaia kiate kimoutolu, pea ne fakafalala ʻakimoutolu ki he loi, ka naʻe ʻikai te u fekau ia:
'Send unto all the removal, saying, Thus said Jehovah concerning Shemaiah the Nehelamite, Because that Shemaiah prophesied to you, and I — I have not sent him, and he doth cause you to trust on falsehood,
32 Ko ia ʻoku pehē mai ʻe Sihova, Vakai, Te u tautea ʻa Simaia mei Nehelami, pea mo hono hako: ʻe ʻikai ha tokotaha ʻi hono faʻahinga ke nofo mo ʻene kakai; pea ʻe ʻikai te ne mamata ki he lelei te u fai ki hoku kakai, ʻoku pehē ʻe Sihova; koeʻuhi kuo ne ako ʻaki ʻae angatuʻu kia Sihova.”
Therefore, thus said Jehovah, Lo, I am seeing after Shemaiah the Nehelamite, and after his seed, he hath none dwelling in the midst of this people, nor doth he look on the good that I am doing to My people — an affirmation of Jehovah — for apostasy he hath spoken against Jehovah.'
