< Selemaia 26 >

1 ‌ʻI he kamataʻanga ʻoe pule ʻa Sihoiakimi ko e foha ʻo Siosaia ko e tuʻi ʻo Siuta naʻe haʻu ʻae folofola ni meia Sihova, ʻo pehē,
In the beginning of the reign of Jehoiakim the son of Josiah, king of Judah, came this word from YHWH, saying,
2 ‌ʻOku pehē mai ʻe Sihova; “Tuʻu ʻi he lotoʻā ʻi he fale ʻo Sihova, pea lea ki he ngaahi kolo ʻo Siuta, ʻakinautolu ʻoku haʻu ke lotu ki he fale ʻo Sihova, ko e ngaahi lea kotoa pē ʻoku ou fekau kiate koe ke lea ʻaki kiate kinautolu; ʻoua naʻa fakasiʻisiʻi ha lea:
"Thus says YHWH: Stand in the court of YHWH's house, and speak to all the cities of Judah, which come to worship in YHWH's house, all the words that I command you to speak to them; do not diminish a word.
3 Heiʻilo te nau fanongo, pea tafoki taki taha ʻae tangata mei hono hala kovi, koeʻuhi ke u fakatomala ʻi he kovi ʻaia naʻaku tokanga ke fai kiate kinautolu koeʻuhi ko e kovi ʻo ʻenau ngaahi faianga.”
It may be they will listen, and turn every man from his evil way; that I may relent of the evil which I purpose to do to them because of the evil of their doings.
4 Pea te ke pehē kiate kinautolu, ʻoku pehē ʻe Sihova; “Kapau ʻe ʻikai te mou fanongo kiate au, ʻo ʻeveʻeva ʻi heʻeku fono, ʻaia kuo u tuku ʻi homou ʻao,
You shall tell them, 'Thus says YHWH: If you will not listen to me, to walk in my law, which I have set before you,
5 ‌ʻO fanongo ki he lea ʻa ʻeku kau tamaioʻeiki ko e kau palōfita, ʻakinautolu kuo u fekau kiate kimoutolu, ʻo tuʻu hengihengi hake pe, ʻo fekau ʻakinautolu, ka naʻe ʻikai te mou tokanga;
to listen to the words of my servants the prophets, whom I send to you, even rising up early and sending them, but you have not listened;
6 Pea te u toki ngaohi ʻae fale ni ke hangē ko Sailo, pea te u ngaohi ʻae kolo ni ko e fakamalaʻia ki he ngaahi kakai kotoa pē ʻo māmani.”
then will I make this house like Shiloh, and will make this city a curse to all the nations of the earth.'"
7 Pea naʻe fanongo ʻe he kau taulaʻeiki mo e kau palōfita pea mo e kakai kotoa pē ki he lea ʻaki ʻe Selemaia ʻae ngaahi lea ni ʻi he fale ʻo Sihova.
The priests and the prophets and all the people heard Jeremiah speaking these words in the house of YHWH.
8 Pea naʻe hoko ʻo pehē ʻi he hili ʻae lea kotoa pē ʻa Selemaia, ʻaia naʻe fekau kiate ia ʻe Sihova ke ne lea ʻaki ki he kakai kotoa pē, naʻe ʻave ia ʻe he kau taulaʻeiki, mo e kau palōfita, mo e kakai kotoa pē, ʻonau pehē, “Ko e moʻoni te ke mate.
It happened, when Jeremiah had made an end of speaking all that YHWH had commanded him to speak to all the people, that the priests and the prophets and all the people laid hold on him, saying, "You shall surely die.
9 Ko e hā kuo ke kikite ai ʻi he huafa ʻo Sihova, ʻo pehē, ʻE hoko ʻae fale ni ʻo hangē ko Sailo, pea ʻe lala mo taʻehanokakai ʻae kolo ni?” Pea naʻe fakataha ʻae kakai kotoa pē kia Selemaia ʻi he fale ʻo Sihova.
Why have you prophesied in the name of YHWH, saying, 'This house shall be like Shiloh, and this city shall be desolate, without inhabitant?'" All the people were gathered to Jeremiah in the house of YHWH.
10 Pea ʻi he fanongo ʻae houʻeiki ʻo Siuta ki he ngaahi meʻa ni, naʻa nau haʻu mei he fale ʻoe tuʻi ki he fale ʻo Sihova, ʻo nofo ki lalo ʻi he hūʻanga ki he matapā foʻou ʻoe fale ʻo Sihova.
When the officials of Judah heard these things, they came up from the king's house to the house of YHWH; and they sat in the entry of the New Gate of YHWH's house.
11 Pea naʻe toki lea ʻae kau taulaʻeiki mo e kau palōfita ki he houʻeiki pea mo e kakai kotoa pē, ʻo pehē, “ʻOku totonu ke mate ʻae tangata ni; he kuo ne kikite ki he kolo ni, ʻo hangē ko ia kuo mou fanongo ʻaki homou telinga.”
Then spoke the priests and the prophets to the officials and to all the people, saying, "This man is worthy of death; for he has prophesied against this city, as you have heard with your ears."
12 Pea naʻe toki lea ʻa Selemaia, ki he houʻeiki kotoa pē, pea mo e kakai kotoa pē, ʻo pehē, “Naʻe fekau au ʻe Sihova ke kikite ʻaki ʻae ngaahi lea kotoa pē kuo mou fanongo ki ai ki he fale ni pea mo e kolo ni.
Then Jeremiah spoke to all the officials and to all the people, saying, "YHWH sent me to prophesy against this house and against this city all the words that you have heard.
13 Ka ko eni, mou fakalelei homou ngaahi hala mo hoʻomou ngaahi faianga, pea mou talangofua ki he leʻo ʻo Sihova ko homou ʻOtua; pea ʻe fakatomala ʻa Sihova ʻi he kovi ʻaia kuo ne lea ʻaki kiate kimoutolu.
Now therefore amend your ways and your doings, and obey the voice of YHWH your God; and YHWH will relent of the disaster that he has pronounced against you.
14 Pea koeʻuhi ko au, Vakai, ʻoku ou ʻi homou nima: fai kiate au ʻaia ʻoku lelei kiate kimoutolu.
But as for me, look, I am in your hands; do with me as is good and right in your eyes.
15 Ka mou ʻilo pau eni, kapau te mou tāmateʻi au, te mou ʻomi ʻae toto taʻehalaia kiate kimoutolu mo e kolo ni, pea mo hono kakai: he ko e moʻoni naʻe fekau au ʻe Sihova kiate kimoutolu ke lea ʻaki ʻae ngaahi lea ni ki homou telinga.”
Only know for certain that, if you put me to death, you will bring innocent blood on yourselves, and on this city, and on its inhabitants; for of a truth YHWH has sent me to you to speak all these words in your ears."
16 Pea naʻe toki lea ʻae houʻeiki mo e kakai kotoa pē ki he kau taulaʻeiki mo e kau palōfita; “ʻOku ʻikai totonu ke mate ʻae tangata ni: he kuo ne lea kiate kitautolu ʻi he huafa ʻo Sihova ko hotau ʻOtua.”
Then the officials and all the people said to the priests and to the prophets: "This man is not worthy of death; for he has spoken to us in the name of YHWH our God."
17 Pea naʻe toki tuʻu hake ʻae kau mātuʻa niʻihi ʻoe fonua, pea lea ki he fakataha kotoa pē ʻoe kakai, ʻo pehē,
Then rose up certain of the elders of the land, and spoke to all the assembly of the people, saying,
18 “Naʻe kikite ʻe Maika, ko e [tangata ]Molesi ʻi he ngaahi ʻaho ʻo Hesekaia ko e tuʻi ʻo Siuta, pea naʻa ne lea ki he kakai kotoa pē ʻo Siuta, ʻo pehē, ʻoku pehē ʻe Sihova ʻoe ngaahi kautau; ‘ʻE keli ʻa Saione ʻo hangē ko e ngoue, pea ʻe hoko ʻa Selūsalema ko e ngaahi tafungofunga, pea ko e moʻunga ʻoe fale ʻo hangē ko e ngaahi potu māʻolunga ʻoe toafa.’
"Micah the Morashtite prophesied in the days of Hezekiah king of Judah; and he spoke to all the people of Judah, saying, 'Thus says YHWH of hosts: "Zion shall be plowed as a field, and Jerusalem shall become heaps, and the mountain of the house as the high places of a forest."'
19 He naʻe tāmateʻi ia koā ʻe Hesekaia ko e tuʻi ʻo Siuta mo Siuta kotoa pē? ʻIkai naʻa ne manavahē kia Sihova, pea kumi kia Sihova, pea naʻe fakatomala ʻa Sihova ʻi he kovi ʻaia naʻa ne lea ʻaki kiate kinautolu? Ka ʻoku tau fakatupu ʻae kovi lahi kiate kitautolu.”
Did Hezekiah king of Judah and all Judah put him to death? Did he not fear YHWH, and seek the favor of YHWH, and YHWH relented of the disaster which he had pronounced against them? Thus should we commit great evil against our own souls.
20 Pea naʻe ʻi ai ʻae tangata foki naʻe kikite ʻi he huafa ʻo Sihova ko Ulisa ko e foha ʻo Semaia mei Kesa-Sialimi, ʻaia naʻe kikite ki he kolo ni, pea ki he fonua ni, ʻo hangē ko e ngaahi lea kotoa pē ʻa Selemaia:
"There was also a man who prophesied in the name of YHWH, Uriah the son of Shemaiah of Kiriath Jearim; and he prophesied against this city and against this land according to all the words of Jeremiah.
21 Pea ʻi he fanongo ki heʻene ngaahi lea ʻa Sihoiakimi ko e tuʻi mo hono kau tangata mālohi kotoa pē, mo e houʻeiki kotoa pē, naʻe kumi ke tāmateʻi ia ʻe he tuʻi: ka ʻi he fanongo ki ai ʻa Ulisa, naʻe manavahē ia, pea hola, pea ʻalu ki ʻIsipite;
And when Jehoiakim the king, with all his mighty men, and all the officials, heard his words, the king sought to put him to death; but when Uriah heard it, he was afraid, and fled, and went into Egypt.
And Jehoiakim the king sent men into Egypt, Elnathan the son of Achbor, and certain men with him, into Egypt;
23 Pea naʻa nau ʻomi ʻa Ulisa mei ʻIsipite, ke ʻomi ia kia Sihoiakimi ko e tuʻi; ʻaia naʻe tāmateʻi ia ʻaki ʻae heletā, pea lī hono ʻangaʻanga ki he faʻitoka, ʻoe kakai meʻa vale.
and they fetched forth Uriah out of Egypt, and brought him to Jehoiakim the king, who killed him with the sword, and cast his dead body into the graves of the common people."
24 Ka naʻe ʻia Selemaia ʻae nima ʻo ʻAhikami ko e foha ʻo Safani, koeʻuhi ke ʻoua naʻa tukuange ia ki he nima ʻoe kakai ke tāmateʻi.
But the hand of Ahikam the son of Shaphan was with Jeremiah, that they should not give him into the hand of the people to put him to death.
