< ʻIsaia 60 >

1 “Tuʻu hake, pea ulo; he kuo hoko mai hoʻo maama, pea kuo hā hake ʻiate koe ʻae nāunau ʻo Sihova,
Arise, be bright, for come hath thy light, And the honour of Jehovah hath risen on thee.
2 He vakai, ʻe ʻufiʻufi ʻe he poʻuli ʻa māmani, mo e poʻuli matolu ʻae kakai: ka e hopo hake ʻa Sihova kiate koe, pea ʻe hā hono nāunau ʻiate koe.
For, lo, the darkness doth cover the earth, And thick darkness the peoples, And on thee rise doth Jehovah, And His honour on thee is seen.
3 Pea ʻe haʻu ʻae kakai Senitaile ki hoʻo maama, mo e ngaahi tuʻi ki he maama lahi ʻo hoʻo ʻalu hake.
And come have nations to thy light, And kings to the brightness of thy rising.
4 “Hiki hake ho mata ʻo sio takatakai, pea mamata: ʻoku nau tānaki fakataha ʻakinautolu kotoa pē, ʻoku nau haʻu kiate koe: ʻe haʻu ho ngaahi foha mei he mamaʻo, pea ʻe faʻaki ki ho vakavaka ho ngaahi ʻofefine.
Lift up round about thine eyes and see, All of them have been gathered, they have come to thee, Thy sons from afar do come, And thy daughters on the side are supported.
5 Pea te ke toki mamata, pea tānaki fakataha, pea ʻe manavahē ho loto, pea ʻe fakalahi ia; koeʻuhi ʻe fakatafoki kiate koe ʻae koloa ʻoe tahi, ʻe haʻu kiate koe ʻae koloa ʻoe ngaahi Senitaile.
Then thou seest, and hast become bright, And thine heart hath been afraid and enlarged, For turn unto thee doth the multitude of the sea, The forces of nations do come to thee.
6 ‌ʻE ʻufiʻufi ʻaki koe ʻae fanga kāmeli lahi, ko e fanga kāmeli ʻo Mitiani mo ʻEfaa; ʻakinautolu kotoa pē mei Sipa te nau haʻu: te nau ʻomi ʻae koula mo e meʻa namu kakala; pea te nau fakahā ʻae ongoongolelei ʻo Sihova.
A company of camels covereth thee, Dromedaries of Midian and Ephah, All of them from Sheba do come, Gold and frankincense they bear, And of the praises of Jehovah they proclaim the tidings.
All the flock of Kedar are gathered to thee, The rams of Nebaioth do serve thee, They ascend for acceptance Mine altar, And the house of My beauty I beautify.
8 “Ko hai ʻakinautolu na ʻoku puna ʻo hangē ha ʻao, pea hangē ko e fanga kulukulu ki honau ngaahi matapā?
Who [are] these — as a thick cloud they fly, And as doves unto their windows?
9 Ko e moʻoni ʻe tatali kiate koe ʻae ʻotu motu, pea ʻe muʻomuʻa ʻae ngaahi vaka ʻo Tasisi, ke ʻomi ho ngaahi foha mei he mamaʻo, ʻa ʻenau siliva mo ʻenau koula fakataha mo kinautolu, ki he huafa ʻo Sihova ko ho ʻOtua, pea ki he tokotaha māʻoniʻoni ʻo ʻIsileli, koeʻuhi kuo ne fakaongoongoleleiʻi koe.
Surely for Me isles do wait, And ships of Tarshish first, To bring thy sons from afar, Their silver and their gold with them, To the name of Jehovah thy God, And to the Holy One of Israel, Because He hath beautified thee.
10 “Pea ʻe toe langa ho ʻa ʻe he ngaahi foha ʻoe muli, pea ʻe tauhi kiate koe honau ngaahi tuʻi: he naʻaku taaʻi koe ʻi hoku houhau, ka ʻi heʻeku ʻofa kuo u ʻaloʻofa kiate koe.
And sons of a stranger have built thy walls, And their kings do serve thee, For in My wrath I have smitten thee, And in My good pleasure I have pitied thee.
11 Ko ia ʻe ava maʻuaipē ho ngaahi matapā; ʻe ʻikai tāpuni ia ʻi he ʻaho pe ʻi he pō; koeʻuhi ke ʻomi kiate koe ʻae koloa ʻoe ngaahi puleʻanga, pea ke ʻomi mo honau ngaahi tuʻi.
And opened have thy gates continually, By day and by night they are not shut, To bring unto thee the force of nations, Even their kings are led.
12 He ko e kakai mo e puleʻanga ʻe ʻikai tauhi kiate koe ʻe ʻauha ia; ʻio, ʻe lala ʻaupito ʻae ngaahi puleʻanga ko ia.
For the nation and the kingdom that do not serve thee perish, Yea, the nations are utterly wasted.
13 “ʻE ʻomi kiate koe ʻae nāunau ʻo Lepanoni, ʻae ʻakau ko e fea, mo e ʻakau ko e paini, fakataha mo e pokesi, ke teuteu ʻaki ʻae potu ʻo hoku fale tapu; pea te u ngaohi ʻae potu ʻo hoku tuʻunga vaʻe ke nāunauʻia.
The honour of Lebanon unto thee doth come, Fir, pine, and box together, To beautify the place of My sanctuary, And the place of My feet I make honourable.
And come unto thee, bowing down, Have sons of those afflicting thee, And bowed themselves to the soles of thy feet Have all despising thee, And they have cried to thee: 'City of Jehovah, Zion of the Holy One of Israel.'
15 “Ko e meʻa ʻi he liʻaki koe mo e fehiʻa kiate koe, koeʻuhi ʻikai fou ha tangata ʻiate koe, te u ngaohi koe ko e lelei taʻengata, ko e fiefiaʻanga ʻoe toʻutangata toko lahi.
Instead of thy being forsaken and hated, And none passing through, I have made thee for an excellency age-during, A joy of generation and generation.
16 Pea te ke huhu ʻi he huʻahuhu ʻoe ngaahi Senitaile, pea mimisi ʻi he huhu ʻoe ngaahi tuʻi: pea te ke ʻilo ko au ko Sihova ko ho Fakamoʻui, mo ho Huhuʻi, ko e Toko Taha Māfimafi ʻo Sēkope.
And thou hast sucked the milk of nations, Yea, the breast of kings thou suckest, And thou hast known that I, Jehovah, Thy Saviour, and Thy Redeemer, [Am] the Mighty One of Jacob.
17 Te u ʻomi ʻae koula ko e fetongi ʻoe palasa, pea te u ʻomi ʻae siliva ko e fetongi ʻoe ukamea, pea ko e palasa ko e fetongi ʻoe ʻakau, pea ko e ukamea ko e fetongi ʻoe maka: pea te u ngaohi ho kau fakamaau ko e melino, pea mo ho kau pule ko e māʻoniʻoni.
Instead of the brass I bring in gold, And instead of the iron I bring in silver, And instead of the wood brass, And instead of the stone iron, And I have made thy inspection peace, And thy exactors righteousness.
18 ‌ʻE ʻikai toe fanongo ki ha fakamālohi ʻi ho fonua, ʻae maumau pe ʻae fakaʻauha ʻi ho ngataʻanga; he te ke ui ho ngaahi ʻā koe Fakamoʻui, mo ho ngaahi matapā ko e Fakamālō.
Violence is not heard any more in thy land, Spoiling and destruction in thy borders, And thou hast called 'Salvation' thy walls, And thy gates, 'Praise.'
19 ‌ʻE ʻikai toe hoko ʻae laʻā ko hoʻo maama ʻi he ʻaho; pe ko e ulo ʻoe māhina ko e maama kiate koe: ka e hoko ʻa Sihova ko e maama taʻengata kiate koe, pea ko ho nāunau ʻa ho ʻOtua.
To thee no more is the sun for a light by day, And for brightness the moon giveth not light to thee, And Jehovah hath become to thee A light age-during, and thy God thy beauty.
20 ‌ʻE ʻikai toe tō hifo hoʻo laʻā, pea ʻe ʻikai toe fufū ʻe ia hoʻo māhina: koeʻuhi ʻe hoko ʻa Sihova ko hoʻo maama taʻengata, pea ʻe ngata ʻae ngaahi ʻaho ʻo hoʻo mamahi.
Thy sun goeth no more in, And thy moon is not removed, For Jehovah becometh to thee a light age-during. And the days of thy mourning have been completed.
21 Pea ʻe māʻoniʻoni foki ʻa hoʻo kakai kotoa pē; te nau maʻu ʻae fonua ʻo taʻengata, ko e vaʻa naʻaku tō, ko e ngāue ʻa hoku nima, koeʻuhi ke u ongoongolelei ai.
And thy people [are] all of them righteous, To the age they possess the earth, A branch of My planting, A work of My hands, to be beautified.
22 ‌ʻE hoko ʻae tokotaha ʻoku siʻi ko e toko afe, mo e tokotaha ʻoku iiki ko e puleʻanga mālohi: ko au ko Sihova te u fakavave ia ʻi hono kuonga.”
The little one doth become a chief, And the small one a mighty nation, I, Jehovah, in its own time do hasten it!
