< ʻIsaia 6 >
1 ʻI he taʻu naʻe pekia ai ʻae tuʻi ko ʻUsia ne u mamata kia Sihova ʻoku ʻafio ʻi hono ʻafioʻanga, kuo māʻolunga mo hiki hake, pea ko hono kofu tōtōlofa naʻe fonu ai ʻae falelotu lahi.
In the year that King Uzziah died, I saw the Lord sitting on a throne, high and lifted up; and his train filled the temple.
2 Pea naʻe tuʻu ʻi ʻolunga ʻae Selafimi: naʻe taki ono hona kapakau; naʻa ne fakapulou ʻaki hono mata ʻae ua, pea ne ʻufiʻufi ʻaki hono vaʻe ʻae ua, pea ne puna ʻaki ʻae ua.
Above him stood the seraphim. Each one had six wings. With two he covered his face. With two he covered his feet. With two he flew.
3 Pea naʻa na lea fetāliaki, ʻo pehē, “ʻOku māʻoniʻoni, ʻoku māʻoniʻoni, ʻoku māʻoniʻoni, ʻa Sihova ʻoe ngaahi kautau: ʻoku fonu ʻa māmani kotoa pē ʻi hono nāunau.”
One called to another, and said, “Holy, holy, holy, is the LORD of Armies! The whole earth is full of his glory!”
4 Pea naʻe ngaueue ʻae ngaahi pou ʻoe matapā ʻi he leʻo ʻo ia naʻe ui, pea naʻe fakafonu ʻae fale ʻi he ʻohuafi.
The foundations of the thresholds shook at the voice of him who called, and the house was filled with smoke.
5 Pea ne u toki pehē, “Kuo u malaʻia au! He kuo u ʻauha; koeʻuhi ko e tangata loungutu taʻemaʻa au, pea ʻoku ou nofo ʻi he lotolotonga ʻoe kakai loungutu taʻemaʻa: he kuo mamata ʻa hoku mata ki he Tuʻi, ko Sihova ʻoe ngaahi kautau.”
Then I said, “Woe is me! For I am undone, because I am a man of unclean lips and I live among a people of unclean lips, for my eyes have seen the King, the LORD of Armies!”
6 Pea naʻe toki puna mai ʻae tokotaha ʻoe Selafimi kiate au, naʻe ʻi hono nima ʻae malalaʻi afi, ʻaia naʻa ne toʻo ʻaki ʻae hikofi mei he feilaulauʻanga.
Then one of the seraphim flew to me, having a live coal in his hand, which he had taken with the tongs from off the altar.
7 Pea naʻa ne ai ia ki hoku ngutu, mo ne pehē, “Vakai kuo tau ʻae meʻa ni ki ho loungutu; pea kuo toʻo ʻo ʻave hoʻo hia, pea kuo fakamaʻa hoʻo angahala.”
He touched my mouth with it, and said, “Behold, this has touched your lips; and your iniquity is taken away, and your sin forgiven.”
8 Pea ne u fanongo foki ki he leʻo ʻo Sihova, naʻe pehē, “Ko hai te u fekau, pea ko hai ʻe ʻalu maʻamautolu?” Pea ne u toki pehē, “Ko au eni; ke ke fekau au.”
I heard the Lord’s voice, saying, “Whom shall I send, and who will go for us?” Then I said, “Here I am. Send me!”
9 Pea naʻa ne pehē, “ʻAlu, pea tala ki he kakai ni, ʻOku mou fanongo moʻoni, kae ʻikai ongoʻi; pea ʻoku mou mamata pau, kae ʻikai ʻiloʻi.
He said, “Go, and tell this people, ‘You hear indeed, but don’t understand. You see indeed, but don’t perceive.’
10 Ngaohi ke fangapesi ʻae loto ʻoe kakai ni, pea ngaohi ke mamafa honau telinga, pea tāpuni honau mata; telia naʻa nau mamata ʻaki honau mata, pea fanongo ʻaki honau telinga, pea ʻilo ʻaki honau loto, pea liliu, pea hoko ʻo moʻui.”
Make the heart of this people fat. Make their ears heavy, and shut their eyes; lest they see with their eyes, hear with their ears, understand with their heart, and turn again, and be healed.”
11 Pea ne u toki pehē, “ʻE Sihova, ʻe fēfē hono fuoloa?” Pea naʻa ne pehē mai, “Ke ʻoua ke lala ʻae ngaahi kolo ʻo ʻikai ha tokotaha ke nofo ai, pea ʻikai ha tangata ʻi he ngaahi fale, pea lala ʻaupito ʻae fonua,
Then I said, “Lord, how long?” He answered, “Until cities are waste without inhabitant, houses without man, the land becomes utterly waste,
12 Pea ke ʻoua ke ʻave ʻe Sihova ʻae kakai, pea hoko ʻae liʻaki lahi ki he fonua.
and the LORD has removed men far away, and the forsaken places are many within the land.
13 Ka e ʻi ai ʻae vahe ʻe hongofulu, pea ʻe toe foki ia, pea ʻe keina ia; ka e hangē ko e ʻakau ko e teili, pea hangē ko e oke, ʻoka tā hifo ʻoku kei tuʻu hono aka: ʻe pehē ʻe hoko ʻae hako māʻoniʻoni ko e aka ʻoe puleʻanga.”
If there is a tenth left in it, that also will in turn be consumed, as a terebinth, and as an oak whose stump remains when they are cut down, so the holy seed is its stump.”
