< ʻIsaia 34 >

1 Haʻu ke ofi, ʻakimoutolu ʻae ngaahi puleʻanga, ʻo fanongo; pea fakafanongo, ʻakimoutolu ʻae kakai: tuku ke fanongo ʻa māmani, mo ia kotoa pē ʻoku ʻi ai; ʻa māmani, mo e ngaahi meʻa kotoa pē ʻoku tupu mei ai.
You people of all nations, come near and listen and pay careful attention. I want the world and everything that is in it to hear what I say.
2 He ʻoku ʻi he ngaahi puleʻanga kotoa pē ʻae tuputāmaki ʻa Sihova, mo hono houhau lahi ʻoku ʻi honau ngaahi kongakau kotoa pē: kuo ne fakaʻauha mālie ʻakinautolu, kuo ne tukuange ʻakinautolu ke tāmateʻi.
Yahweh is angry with [the people of] all nations; he is (furious/very angry) with all their armies. He has decided that they must be destroyed, and he will slaughter them.
3 Mo ʻenau mate foki ʻe lī kituʻa, pea ʻe ʻalu hake ʻae namuhāhā mei honau ʻangaʻanga, pea ʻe molū ʻo vai ʻae ngaahi moʻunga ʻi honau toto.
Their corpses will not be buried, and [as a result] their corpses will stink, and their blood will [fill the streams that] flow down the mountains.
4 Pea ʻe vela ʻo vai ʻae ngaahi kautau kotoa pē ʻoe langi, pea ʻe tākai ʻae ngaahi langi ʻo hangē ko e takainga pepa: pea ʻe tō ki lalo ʻa honau tokolahi, ʻo hangē ko e ngangana ʻoe lau mei he vaine, pea tatau mo e fiki ʻoku tō mei he ʻakau ko e fiki.
The sky will disappear like [SIM] a scroll that is rolled up [and thrown away]. Stars will fall [from the sky] like [SIM] [withered] leaves fall from grapevines, [or] like [SIM] shriveled figs fall from fig trees.
5 He kuo toʻo ʻa ʻeku heletā ʻi he langi: Vakai, ʻe ʻalu hifo ia ki Itumia, pea ki he kakai ʻo hoku houhau, ke totongi.
When Yahweh has finished his work of destroying objects in the sky, he will punish [the people of] Edom, that people-group that he has said must be destroyed/exterminated.
6 Kuo fonu ʻae heletā ʻa Sihova ʻi he toto, kuo pani ia ʻi he ngako, pea ʻi he toto ʻoe fanga lami mo e fanga kosi, ʻi he ngako ʻoe kofuua ʻoe fanga sipitangata: he ʻoku ʻia Sihova ʻae feilaulau ʻi Posela, pea mo e tāmateʻi lahi ʻi he fonua ko Itumia.
[It is as though] Yahweh has a sword that is covered with blood and fat— the blood of lambs and goats and the fat of the kidneys of rams to be sacrificed. [It is as though] Yahweh will offer a sacrifice in [the city of] Bozrah [and kill many people] in other cities in Edom.
7 Pea ʻe ʻalu hifo mo kinautolu ʻae fanga liimi, mo e fanga pulu fakataha mo e fanga pulu tangata; pea ʻe konā honau fonua ʻi he toto, pea ʻe koloaʻia ʻae kelekele ʻi he ngako.
[Even] wild oxen will be killed, as well as young calves and big bulls. The ground will be soaked with blood, and the dirt will be covered with the fat of those animals.
8 He ko e ʻaho ia ʻoe houhau ʻo Sihova, pea ko e taʻu ʻoe ngaahi totongi kiate ia ʻoku fakahaofi ʻa Saione.
That will be the time when Yahweh gets revenge for what those people did to the people of Judah.
9 Pea ʻe liliu ʻae ngaahi vaitafe ʻo ia ko e pulu, pea mo e efu ʻo ia ko e sulifa, pea ko e fonua ko ia ʻe hoko ko e pulu vela.
The streams in Edom will be full of burning pitch/tar, and the ground will be covered with burning sulfur.
10 ‌ʻE ʻikai fuʻifuʻi ia ʻi he pō pe ʻi he ʻaho; ʻe ʻalu hake taʻengata ʻae kohu mei ai: ʻe lala ia mei he toʻutangata ki he toʻutangata; ʻe ʻikai fou ai ha taha ʻo taʻengata pea taʻengata.
Yahweh will never finish punishing Edom with fire; the smoke will rise forever. No one will ever live in that land, and no one will [even] travel through it.
11 Ka e maʻu ia ʻe he komolaniti pea mo e pitane; ʻe nofo ai ʻae lulu mo e leveni: pea te ne falō ki ai ʻae afo ʻae fakaʻauha, pea mo e fua ʻoe fakaʻosiʻosi.
Ravens and various kinds of owls and small animals will live there. Yahweh will measure that land carefully: He will measure it to [to decide where] to cause chaos and destruction.
12 Te nau ui honau houʻeiki ki he puleʻanga, ka e ʻikai ha taha ʻi ai, pea ko e meʻa noa pe hono houʻeiki kotoa pē.
There will be no princes; the people who have authority will have no kingdom to rule.
13 Pea ʻe tutu ʻae ʻakau talatala ʻi hono ngaahi fale fakaʻeiʻeiki, ko e ʻakau veli mo e ʻakau talatala ʻi hono ngaahi kolo: pea ʻe hoko ia ko e nofoʻanga ʻoe fanga talākoni, pea ko e potu ʻoe fanga lulu.
The deserted palaces and fortified buildings will be full of thorns and thistles. The ruins will be a place for jackals/wolves and owls to live.
Animals that live in the desert and hyenas/wolves will be there, and wild goats will bleat/call to each other. There will also be creatures/animals that [roam around] at night.
15 ‌ʻE ngaohi ʻi ai ʻe he motuʻa lulu hono pununga, pea fakatō, pea fōfoaʻi, pea tānaki ki hono malumalu: ʻe tānaki foki ʻi ai ʻae ngaahi volita, taki taha mo hono hoa.
Owls will make their nests there and lay their eggs in the nests; and when the eggs hatch, the mother birds will cover them [with their wings]. There will also be falcons/hawks there, each with its mate.
16 Kumi ʻakimoutolu ʻi he tohi ʻa Sihova, pea lau; ʻe ʻikai ha taha ʻi he ngaahi meʻa ni ʻe taʻehoko, ʻe ʻikai masiva ha taha ʻi hono hoa: he kuo fekau ia ʻe hoku ngutu, pea ko hono laumālie kuo tānaki ʻe ia ʻakinautolu.
If you read what is written in the book that contains messages from Yahweh, you will find out what he will do [in Edom]. All of those animals and birds will be there, and each one will have a mate, because that is what Yahweh has promised, and his Spirit will cause them [all] to gather [there].
17 Pea kuo ne talotalo ʻe ia maʻanautolu, pea ko hono nima kuo vaheʻi ia kiate kinautolu ʻaki ʻae afo: te nau maʻu ia ʻo lauikuonga, pea te nau nofo ai mei he toʻutangata ki he toʻutangata.
He has decided what parts of the land [of Edom] each will live in, and those are the places where each bird or animal will live. Their descendants will possess those areas forever, throughout all generations.
