< ʻIsaia 3 >

1 Vakai, he ko e ʻEiki ko Sihova ʻoe ngaahi kautau, ʻoku ne toʻo atu mei Selūsalema pea mo Siuta ʻae falalaʻanga mo e tokoni, ʻae tokoni kotoa pē ʻoe meʻakai, mo e tokoni kotoa pē ʻoe vai,
For look, the Lord, the LORD of hosts, takes away from Jerusalem and from Judah supply and support, the whole supply of bread, and the whole supply of water;
2 Ko e tangata mālohi, pea mo e tangata tau, ko e fakamaau, pea mo e palōfita, ʻae fakamākukanga, pea mo e mātuʻa,
the mighty man, the man of war, the judge, the prophet, the diviner, the elder,
3 Ko e ʻeikitau ʻae toko nimangofulu, pea mo e tangata ongoongolelei, pea mo e tangata akonaki poto, pea mo e tangata poto ʻi he faiva, pea mo e tangata lea mālie.
the captain of fifty, the honorable man, the counselor, the skilled craftsman, and the clever enchanter.
4 Pea te u fakanofo ʻae tamaiki ko honau houʻeiki, pea ʻe pule kiate kinautolu ʻae kau valevale.
And I will make youths to be their leaders, and capricious children shall rule over them.
5 Pea ʻe fefakamamahiʻaki ʻae kakai ʻiate kinautolu, pea mo honau kaungāʻapi: ʻe anga fielahi ʻae tamasiʻi ki he motuʻa, mo e angakovi kiate ia ʻoku ongoongolelei.
The people will be oppressed, everyone by another, and everyone by his neighbor. The child will behave himself proudly against the old man, and the base against the honorable.
6 Pea ʻe puke ʻe ha tangata ʻa hono tokoua ʻi he fale ʻo ʻene tamai, ʻo ne pehē, “ʻOku ʻiate koe ʻae ngaahi kofu, ke ke hoko ko homau pule, pea toʻo ʻe ho nima ʻa ʻemau malaʻia ni:”
Indeed a man shall take hold of his brother in the house of his father, saying, "You have clothing, you be our ruler, and let this ruin be under your control."
7 ‌ʻI he ʻaho ko ia te ne fuakava, ʻo pehē, “ʻE ʻikai te u hoko ko e fakamoʻui; he ʻoku ʻikai ha mā pe ha kofu ʻi hoku fale: ʻoua naʻa ngaohi au ko e pule ʻoe kakai.”
In that day he will cry out, saying, I will not be a healer; for in my house is neither bread nor clothing. You shall not make me ruler of the people.
8 He kuo malaʻia ʻa Selūsalema, pea kuo hinga mo Siuta: he ko honau ʻelelo mo ʻenau faianga ʻoku kovi kia Sihova, ke fakahouhauʻi ʻae fofonga ʻo ʻene ʻafio.
For Jerusalem is ruined, and Judah is fallen; because their tongue and their doings are against the LORD, to provoke the eyes of his glory.
9 Ko e anga ʻo honau mata ko e fakaʻilonga ʻonautolu; pea ʻoku nau fakahā ʻa ʻenau angahala ʻo hangē ko Sotoma, ʻoku ʻikai te nau fufū ia. ʻE malaʻia honau laumālie! He kuo nau fakahoko ʻae kovi kiate kinautolu.
The look of their faces testify against them. They parade their sin like Sodom. They do not hide it. Woe to their soul. For they have brought disaster upon themselves.
10 Mou pehē ki he māʻoniʻoni, “E hoko pe ʻae lelei:’ he te nau kai ʻae fua ʻo ʻenau faianga.
Tell the righteous "Good." For they shall eat the fruit of their deeds.
11 ‌ʻE malaʻia ʻae angahala! ʻE hoko ʻae kovi kiate ia: he ko e totongi ʻo hono nima ʻe ange kiate ia.
Woe to the wicked. Disaster is upon them; for the work of his hands will be done to him.
12 Ka ko hoku kakai, kuo fakamālohiʻi ʻakinautolu ʻe he tamaiki, pea ʻoku puleʻi ʻakinautolu ʻe he kau fefine. ʻE hoku kakai, ʻoku fakahalaʻi koe ʻe hoʻo kau takimuʻa, ʻonau fakakehe ʻae ʻaluʻanga ʻo ho ngaahi hala.
As for my people, children are their oppressors, and women rule over them. My people, those who lead you cause you to err, and destroy the way of your paths.
13 ‌ʻOku tuʻu hake ʻa Sihova ke folofola, ʻoku tuʻu ia ke fakamaau ʻae kakai.
The LORD stands up to contend, and stands to judge his people.
14 ‌ʻE fakamaau ʻe Sihova ʻae kau mātuʻa ʻo hono kakai, pea mo honau houʻeiki: “he kuo mou kai ʻo ʻosi ʻae ngoue vaine; ʻoku ʻi homou fale ʻae koloa kuo faʻao mei he kakai masiva.
The LORD will enter into judgment with the elders of his people, and their leaders: "It is you who have eaten up the vineyard. The spoil of the poor is in your houses.
15 ‌ʻOku pehē ʻe Sihova ko e ʻEiki ʻoe ngaahi kautau, “Ko e hā hono ʻuhinga ʻo hoʻomou taʻomia ʻa hoku kakai, ʻo momosi ʻae mata ʻoe masiva?”
What do you mean that you crush my people, and grind the face of the poor?" says the LORD of hosts.
16 Pea ʻoku pehē ʻe Sihova, “Koeʻuhi ʻoku fielahi ʻae ngaahi ʻofefine ʻo Saione, mo nau ʻaʻeva fakamofutofuta mo e mata holi kovi, mo ʻalu fakatekiteki pe, mo fakapakihi honau vaʻe:
Moreover the LORD said, "Because the daughters of Zion are haughty, and walk with outstretched necks and flirting eyes, walking to trip as they go, jingling ornaments on their feet;
17 Ko ia ʻe taaʻi ʻe he ʻEiki ʻae tumuʻaki ʻoe ngaahi ʻofefine ʻo Saione ʻaki ʻae pala, pea ʻe fakatelefuaʻi ʻakinautolu ʻe Sihova.”
therefore the LORD brings sores on the crown of the head of the women of Zion, and the LORD will make their scalps bald."
18 ‌ʻI he ʻaho ko ia ʻe toʻo ʻe Sihova ʻiate kinautolu ʻae teunga tatangi ʻo honau vaʻe, mo e meʻa fau ʻoe ʻulu, mo ʻenau teunga ʻo hangē ko e māhina,
In that day the LORD will take away the beauty of their anklets, the headbands, the crescent necklaces,
19 ‌ʻAe kahoa, pea mo e ngaahi vesa, pea mo e ngaahi pūlou,
the earrings, the bracelets, the veils,
20 ‌ʻAe ngaahi tatā, pea mo e teunga ʻo honau vaʻe, mo e ngaahi fua mo e ʻaiʻanga kakala, pea mo e ngaahi hau ki honau telinga,
the headdresses, the ankle chains, the sashes, the perfume bottles, the charms,
21 ‌ʻAe ngaahi mama, mo e teunga ʻoe ihu,
the signet rings, the nose rings,
22 Mo e tuului ʻo honau kofu, pea mo e kofutuʻa, pea mo e ngaahi pulupulu, pea mo e ngaahi kato paʻanga,
the fine robes, the capes, the cloaks, the purses,
23 ‌ʻAe ngaahi sioʻata, pea mo e kofu lineni, pea mo e ngaahi kofu ʻoe ʻulu, pea mo e ngaahi pūlou.
the hand mirrors, the fine linen garments, the tiaras, and the shawls.
24 Pea ʻe hoko ʻo pehē, ʻe fetongi ʻaki ʻae namu kakala ʻae namukū; pea ʻe fetongi ʻaki ʻae noʻo lelei ʻae noʻo mahae; pea ʻe liliu ʻae ʻulu lau lelei ko e tula; pea ʻe fetongi ʻae kofu fatafata ʻaki ʻae kofu ʻoe tauangaʻa; pea ʻe fetongi ʻaki ʻae hoihoifua ʻae fohia ʻi he laʻā.
It shall happen that instead of sweet spices, there shall be rottenness; instead of a belt, a rope; instead of well set hair, baldness; instead of a robe, a girding of sackcloth; and branding instead of beauty.
25 ‌ʻE tō ho kau tangata ʻi he heletā, mo hoʻo kau mālohi ʻi he tau.
Your men shall fall by the sword, and your mighty in the war.
26 Pea ʻe mamahi mo tangi hono ngaahi matapā; pea ʻi heʻene lala te ne nofo ʻi he kelekele.
Her gates shall lament and mourn; and she shall be desolate and sit on the ground.
