< ʻIsaia 25 >

1 ‌ʻE Sihova, ko koe ko hoku ʻOtua; te u fakahikihikiʻi koe, te u fakamālō ki ho huafa; he kuo ke fai ʻae ngaahi meʻa fakaofo; ko hoʻo ngaahi tuʻutuʻuni ʻi muʻa ko e angatonu mo e moʻoni.
O Jehovah, my God [art] Thou, I exalt Thee, I confess Thy name, For Thou hast done a wonderful thing, Counsels of old, stedfastness, O stedfast One.
2 He kuo ke liliu ʻae kolo ko e fokotuʻunga ʻotoʻota; ʻae kolo naʻe ai hono ʻā ko e tuʻunga fale kuo maumau: ʻae nofoʻanga fakaʻeiʻeiki ʻoe kakai muli ke lala: ʻe ʻikai ʻaupito toe langa ia.
For Thou didst make of a city a heap, Of a fenced city a ruin, A high place of strangers from [being] a city, To the age it is not built.
3 Ko ia ʻe fakaongoongoleleiʻi koe ʻe he kakai mālohi, ʻe manavahē kiate koe ʻae kolo ʻoe ngaahi puleʻanga fakailifia.
Therefore honour Thee do a strong people, A city of the terrible nations feareth Thee.
4 He naʻa ke hoko ko e tokoni ki he kakai paea, ko e mālohi ki he masiva ʻi heʻene mamahi, ko e hūfanga mei he afā, ko e malumalu mei he pupuha ʻoka tatau ʻae tuʻoni matangi ʻoe kakai fakailifia mo e afā ʻoku faʻaki ki he ʻā maka.
For Thou hast been a stronghold for the poor, A stronghold for the needy in his distress, A refuge from storm, a shadow from heat, When the spirit of the terrible [is] as a storm — a wall.
5 Te ke ʻohifo ki lalo ʻae longoaʻa ʻoe kakai muli, ʻo hangē ko e laʻā ʻi he potu mōmoa; ʻio, ke pupuha ʻi he malu ʻo ha ʻao; ʻe fakavaivaiʻi ʻae vaʻa ʻoe kakai fakamanavahē.
As heat in a dry place, The noise of strangers Thou humblest, Heat with the shadow of a thick cloud, The singing of the terrible is humbled.
6 Pea ʻe teuteu ʻe Sihova ʻoe ngaahi kautau ʻi he moʻunga ni ʻae kātoanga ʻae ngaahi meʻa lelei ki he kakai kotoa pē, ko e kātoanga ʻoe uaine motuʻa, ʻoe ngaahi meʻa momona ʻoku fonu ʻi he ngako ʻoe hui, mo e uaine motuʻa kuo maʻa ʻaupito.
And made hath Jehovah of Hosts, For all the peoples in this mount, A banquet of fat things, a banquet of preserved things, Fat things full of marrow, preserved things refined.
7 Pea te ne maumauʻi ʻi he moʻunga ni ʻae ʻufiʻufi ʻoku fakapulou ʻaki ʻae mata ʻoe kakai kotoa pē, pea mo e pūlou kuo fofola ki he ngaahi puleʻanga kotoa pē.
And swallowed up hath He in this mountain The face of the wrapping that is wrapped over all the peoples, And of the covering that is spread over all the nations.
8 Te ne fakaʻauha ʻaupito ʻae mate ʻi he mālohi; pea ʻe holoholo ʻe he ʻEiki ko Sihova ʻae ngaahi loʻimata mei he mata kotoa pē; pea ko e valoki ʻo hono kakai te ne toʻo mei he fonua kotoa pē: he kuo folofola pehē ʻa Sihova.
He hath swallowed up death in victory, And wiped hath the Lord Jehovah, The tear from off all faces, And the reproach of His people He turneth aside from off all the earth, For Jehovah hath spoken.
9 Pea ʻe fai ʻae lea ʻo pehē ʻi he ʻaho ko ia, “Vakai, ko hotau ʻOtua eni; naʻa tau tatali kiate ia, pea te ne fakamoʻui ʻakitautolu: ko eni ʻa Sihova; naʻa tau tatali kiate ia, pea te tau fiefia mo nekeneka ʻi heʻene fakamoʻui.”
And [one] hath said in that day, 'Lo, this [is] our God, We waited for Him, and He saveth us, This [is] Jehovah, we have waited for Him, We joy and rejoice in His salvation.'
10 Koeʻuhi ʻe nofomaʻu ʻae nima ʻo Sihova ʻi he moʻunga ni, pea ʻe molomoloki hifo ʻiate ia ʻa Moape, ʻio, ʻo hangē ʻoku molomoloki ʻae mohuku mōmoa ʻi he tuʻunga ʻotoʻota.
For rest doth the hand of Jehovah on this mountain, And trodden down is Moab under Him, As trodden down is straw on a dunghill.
And he spread out his hands in its midst, As spread out doth the swimmer to swim; And He hath humbled his excellency With the machinations of his hands.
12 Pea ko e fale māʻolunga ʻoe puke ʻo hoʻo ngaahi ʻā maka te ne ʻohifo, ʻo fakatoka lafalafa ki lalo, pea ʻomi ki he kelekele, ʻio, ki he efu.
And the fortress of the high place of thy walls He hath bowed down — He hath made low, He hath caused [it] to come to the earth, — unto dust.
