< ʻIsaia 22 >

1 Ko e tala mamafa ʻoku kau ki he teleʻa ʻoe meʻa hā mai. Ko e hā kuo hoko kiate koe, koeʻuhi ke ʻalu ai hoʻo kakai kotoa pē ki he ngaahi tuʻa fale?
The burden of the Valley of Vision. What — to thee, now, that thou hast gone up, All of thee — to the roofs?
2 ‌ʻA koe ʻoku ke fonu ʻi he longoaʻa, ko e kolo maveuveu, ko e kolo ʻoe fakavā: ko hoʻo kakai kuo mate naʻe ʻikai mate ʻi he heletā, pe mate ʻi he tau.
Full of stirs — a noisy city — an exulting city, Thy pierced are not pierced of the sword, Nor dead in battle.
3 Kuo hola fakataha hoʻo kau pule kotoa pē, kuo haʻisia ʻakinautolu ʻe he kau tangata fana: ko kinautolu kotoa pē ʻoku ʻilo ʻiate koe kuo haʻi fakataha, ʻakinautolu kuo hola mei he mamaʻo.
All thy rulers fled together from the bow, Bound have been all found of thee, They have been kept bound together, Afar off they have fled.
Therefore I said, 'Look ye from me, I am bitter in my weeping, Haste not to comfort me, For the destruction of the daughter of my people.'
5 He ko e ʻaho ʻoe mamahi ia, mo e malaki hifo, pea mo e faingataʻa, koeʻuhi ko e ʻEiki ko Sihova ʻoe ngaahi kautau ʻi he teleʻa ʻoe meʻa hā mai, ʻi he maumauʻi ʻae ngaahi ʻā maka, pea mo e tangi ki he ngaahi moʻunga.
For a day of noise, and of treading down, And of perplexity, [is] to the Lord, Jehovah of Hosts, In the valley of vision, digging down a wall, And crying unto the mountain.
6 Pea naʻe toʻo ʻe ʻIlami ʻae hōfangahau mo e ngaahi saliote ʻae tangata mo e tangata heka hoosi, pea toʻo ʻe Kili ʻae kofu ʻoe fakaū.
And Elam hath borne a quiver, In a chariot of men — horsemen, And Kir hath exposed a shield.
7 Pea ʻe pehē, ʻe fonu ho ngaahi teleʻa lelei ʻi he ngaahi saliote, pea ʻe fakatē ʻae kautau heka hoosi ʻi he matapā.
And it cometh to pass, The choice of thy valleys have been full of chariots, And the horsemen place themselves diligently at the gate.
8 Pea ʻe tatala ʻae meʻa ʻufiʻufi ʻo Siuta, pea te ke vakai ʻi he ʻaho ko ia ki he mahafutau ʻi he fale ʻoe vao lahi.
And one removeth the covering of Judah, And thou lookest in that day Unto the armour of the house of the forest,
9 Pea te mou mamata ki he ngaahi ava ʻi he Kolo ʻo Tevita, koeʻuhi ʻoku lahi ia: pea te mou tānaki fakataha ʻae ngaahi vai ki he luo vai ki lalo.
And the breaches of the city of David ye have seen, For they have become many, And ye gather the waters of the lower pool,
10 Pea kuo mou lau ʻae ngaahi fale ʻo Selūsalema, pea kuo mou veteki ʻae ngaahi fale ke fakamālohi ʻaki ʻae ʻā maka.
And the houses of Jerusalem ye did number, And ye break down the houses to fence the wall.
11 Pea te mou ngaohi ʻae keli ʻi he vahaʻa ʻoe ongo ʻā maka ki he vai ʻoe luo vai motuʻa: ka ʻoku teʻeki te mou vakai kiate ia ʻaia naʻe ngaohi ia, pe fakaʻapaʻapa kiate ia ʻaia naʻe fakatupu ia ʻi muʻa ʻaupito.
And a ditch ye made between the two walls, For the waters of the old pool, And ye have not looked unto its Maker, And its Framer of old ye have not seen.
12 Pea ʻi he ʻaho ko ia naʻe ui ʻe he ʻEiki ko Sihova ʻoe ngaahi kautau ke tangi, pea ke tangilāulau, pea ke fafai ʻae ʻulu, pea ke vala ʻaki ʻae tauangaʻa.
And call doth the Lord, Jehovah of Hosts, In that day, to weeping and to lamentation, And to baldness and to girding on of sackcloth,
13 Pea vakai naʻe ʻi ai ʻae fiemālie mo e fiefia, ko e tāmateʻi ʻoe fanga pulu, mo e tāmateʻi ʻoe fanga sipi, mo e kai ʻae kakano, mo e inu uaine: ke tau kai mo inu; he ko e ʻapongipongi te tau mate.
And lo, joy and gladness, slaying of oxen, And slaughtering of sheep, Eating of flesh, and drinking of wine, Eat and drink, for to-morrow we die.
14 Pea naʻe fakahā ʻe Sihova ʻoe ngaahi kautau ki hoku telinga, Ko e moʻoni ʻe ʻikai te mou maʻa ʻi he hia ni kaeʻoua ke mou mate, ʻoku pehē ʻe he ʻEiki ko Sihova ʻoe ngaahi kautau.
And revealed it hath been in mine ears, [By] Jehovah of Hosts: Not pardoned is this iniquity to you, Till ye die, said the Lord, Jehovah of Hosts.
15 ʻOku pehē ʻe he ʻEiki ko Sihova ʻoe ngaahi kautau, “ʻAlu, ke ke hoko ki he tangata tauhi koloa ni, ʻio, kia Sepina, ʻaia ʻoku pule ki he fale, pea ke pehē,
Thus said the Lord, Jehovah of Hosts: 'Go, enter in unto this steward, Unto Shebna, who [is] over the house:
16 Ko e hā ʻoku ke maʻu ʻi heni? Pea ko hai ʻoku ke maʻu ʻi heni? Koeʻuhi kuo ke tā moʻou ʻi heni ha fonualoto, ʻo hangē ko ia ʻoku tā moʻona ha fonualoto ʻi he māʻolunga, pea ʻoku tongi ha nofoʻanga moʻona ʻi he maka?
What — to thee here? And who — to thee here? That thou hast hewn out to thee here — a sepulchre? Hewing on high his sepulchre, Graving in a rock a dwelling for himself.
17 Vakai, ʻe ʻave koe ʻe Sihova ʻi he fakapōpula fakamanavahē, pea ko e moʻoni te ne taʻomia koe.
Lo, Jehovah is casting thee up and down, A casting up and down, O mighty one,
18 Ko e moʻoni te ne foki mai pea lī mālohi koe ʻo hangē ko ha meʻa fuopotopoto ki ha fonua lahi: pea te ke mate ai, pea ʻe hoko ʻi ai ʻa hoʻo ngaahi saliote lelei ko e fakamā ʻoe fale ʻo hoʻo ʻeiki.
And thy coverer covering, wrapping round, Wrappeth thee round, O babbler, On a land broad of sides — there thou diest, And there the chariots of thine honour [Are] the shame of the house of thy lord.
19 Pea te u kapusi koe mei hoʻo potu, pea te ne toho hifo koe mei ho puleʻanga.”
And I have thrust thee from thy station, And from thine office he throweth thee down.
20 Pea ʻe hoko ʻo pehē ʻi he ʻaho ko ia, te u ui ʻeku tamaioʻeiki ko Iliakimi ko e foha ʻo Hesekaia:
And it hath come to pass, in that day, That I have called to my servant, To Eliakim son of Hilkiah.
And I have clothed him with thy coat, And with thy girdle I strengthen him, And thy garment I give into his hand, And he hath been for a father to the inhabitant of Jerusalem, And to the house of Judah.
22 Pea ko e ki ʻoe fale ʻo Tevita te u ai ki hono uma; ko ia te ne toʻo, pea ʻe ʻikai tāpuni ʻe ha taha; pea te ne tāpuni, pea ʻe ʻikai toʻo ʻe ha taha.
And I have placed the key Of the house of David on his shoulder, And he hath opened, and none is shutting, And hath shut, and none is opening.
23 Pea te u fakamaʻu ia ʻo hangē ha faʻo ʻi ha potu ʻoku maʻu; pea te ne hoko ko e nofoʻanga lelei lahi ki he fale ʻo ʻene tamai.
And I have fixed him a nail in a stedfast place, And he hath been for a throne of honour To the house of his father.
24 Pea te nau tautau ʻiate ia ʻae lelei kotoa pē ʻoe fale ʻo ʻene tamai, ko e hako mo e fānau, ʻae ngaahi ipu siʻi kotoa pē, mei he kihiʻi ipu inu, ʻo aʻu ki he ngaahi ipu kehe kotoa pē.
And they have hanged on him All the honour of the house of his father, The offspring and the issue, All vessels of small quality, From vessels of basins to all vessels of flagons.
25 ‌ʻOku pehē ʻe Sihova ʻoe ngaahi kautau, ʻi he ʻaho ko ia ʻe toʻo ʻae faʻo naʻe fakamaʻu ki he potu maʻu, pea ʻe tuʻusi ki lalo, pea homo ia; pea ko e kavenga naʻe ʻi ai ʻe tuʻusi ke motu; he kuo folofola pehē ʻa Sihova.
In that day — an affirmation of Jehovah of Hosts, Moved is the nail that is fixed In a stedfast place, Yea, it hath been cut down, and hath fallen, And cut off hath been the burden that [is] on it, For Jehovah hath spoken!'
