< ʻIsaia 13 >

1 Ko e tala mamafa ʻoku kau ki Papilone, ʻaia naʻe mamata ki ai ʻe ʻIsaia ko e foha ʻo ʻAmosi.
The burden of Babylon, which Isaiah the son of Amoz saw.
2 MOU fokotuʻu ʻae fuka ʻi he moʻunga māʻolunga, hiki hake ʻae leʻo kiate kinautolu, taʻalo ʻaki ʻae nima, ke nau hū ʻi he ngaahi matapā ʻoe houʻeiki.
Lift up a banner upon a bare mountain, raise the voice unto them, shake the hand, that they may enter the gates of the nobles.
3 Kuo u fekau ki heʻeku kau māʻoniʻoni, kuo u ui foki ʻeku kau mālohi koeʻuhi ko hoku houhau, ʻio, ʻakinautolu ʻoku fiefia heʻeku māfimafi.
I have commanded my hallowed ones, I have also called my mighty men for mine anger, them that rejoice in my highness.
4 Ko e longoaʻa ʻoe tokolahi ʻi he ngaahi moʻunga, ʻo hangē ko e kakai lahi; ko e longoaʻa lahi ʻoe ngaahi puleʻanga, ʻio, ʻoe ngaahi puleʻanga kuo tānaki fakataha: he ʻoku fakataha ʻe Sihova ʻae ngaahi kautau ʻo ʻene kongakau ki he tau.
The noise of a multitude on the mountains, as of a great people; a tumultuous noise of the kingdoms of nations assembled together: Jehovah of hosts mustereth the host of the battle.
5 ‌ʻOku nau haʻu mei he fonua mamaʻo, mei he ngataʻanga ʻoe langi, ʻio, ko Sihova, mo e mahafu ʻo hono houhau, ke fakaʻauha ʻae fonua kotoa pē.
They come from a far country, from the end of the heavens — Jehovah, and the weapons of his indignation — to destroy the whole land.
6 Mou tangilāulau ʻakimoutolu; he ʻoku ofi ʻae ʻaho ʻo Sihova; ʻe haʻu ia ʻo hangē ko e fakaʻauha mei he Māfimafi.
Howl, for the day of Jehovah is at hand; it cometh as destruction from the Almighty.
7 Ko ia ʻe vaivai ai ʻae nima kotoa pē, pea ʻe molū mo e loto ʻoe tangata kotoa pē:
Therefore shall all hands be feeble, and every heart of man shall melt,
8 Pea te nau manavahē: ʻe puke ʻakinautolu ʻe he mamahi mo e ongosia; te nau langa ʻo hangē ko e fefine ʻoku fāʻele: te nau feʻofaʻaki; ʻe tatau honau mata mo e ulo ʻoe afi.
and they shall be terrified: pangs and sorrows shall take hold of them, they shall writhe as a woman that travaileth; they shall be amazed one at another, their faces shall be as flames.
9 Vakai, ʻoku haʻu ʻae ʻaho ʻo Sihova, ʻoku mamafa ʻi he tuʻutāmaki pea mo e houhau lahi, ke fakaʻauha ʻae fonua: pea te ne tāmateʻi ʻae kakai angahala mei ai.
Behold, the day of Jehovah cometh, cruel both with wrath and fierce anger, to lay the earth desolate; and he will destroy the sinners thereof out of it.
10 He ko e ngaahi fetuʻu ʻoe langi mo e ngaahi faʻahinga fetuʻu ʻi ai ʻe ʻikai te nau ʻomi ʻenau maama; ʻe fakapoʻuli ʻae laʻā ʻi heʻene hopo hake, pea ʻe ʻikai ulo atu ʻae maama ʻoe māhina.
For the stars of the heavens and the constellations thereof shall not give their light; the sun shall be darkened in his going forth, and the moon shall not cause her light to shine.
And I will punish the world for evil, and the wicked for their iniquity; and I will make the arrogance of the proud to cease, and will bring low the haughtiness of the violent.
12 Te u ngaohi ke mahuʻinga hake ʻae tangata ʻi he koula lelei; ʻio, ʻe mahuʻinga hake ʻae tangata ʻi he koula lelei ʻo ʻOfeli.
I will make a man more precious than fine gold, even man than the gold of Ophir.
13 Ko ia te u lulululu ai ʻae ngaahi langi, pea ʻe hiki mo māmani mei hono potu, ʻi he houhau ʻo Sihova ʻoe ngaahi kautau, pea ʻi he ʻaho ʻo hono houhau vela.
Therefore I will make the heavens to shake, and the earth shall be removed out of her place, at the wrath of Jehovah of hosts, and in the day of his fierce anger.
14 Pea ʻe tatau ia mo e ʻanitelope kuo tulia, pea hangē ko e fanga sipi ʻoka ʻikai ha tangata ke tānaki fakataha: ʻe tafoki taki taha ʻae tangata ki hono kakai, pea hola taki taha ki hono fonua.
And it shall be as with a chased roe, and as with a flock that no man gathereth together; every one shall turn to his own people, and every one flee into his own land.
15 Ko kinautolu kotoa pē ʻoku moʻua ʻe hokaʻi ke ʻasi; pea ʻe tō ʻi he heletā ʻakinautolu kotoa pē ʻoku kau mo kinautolu.
All that are found shall be thrust through; and every one that is in league [with them] shall fall by the sword.
16 ‌ʻE laiki ʻenau fānau ʻi honau ʻao; ʻe vete ʻa honau ngaahi fale, pea ʻe tohotoho ʻa honau ngaahi uaifi.
And their infants shall be dashed in pieces before their eyes, their houses shall be rifled, and their women ravished.
17 Vakai, te u hiki hake ʻae kakai ʻo Mitia ke tauʻi ʻakinautolu, ʻe ʻikai te nau tokanga ki he siliva; pea ko e koula, ʻe ʻikai te nau manako ki ai.
Behold, I will stir up the Medes against them, who do not regard silver, and as for gold, they have no delight in it.
18 ‌ʻE laikina ʻae kau talavou ʻaki ʻenau ngaahi kaufana; pea ʻe ʻikai te nau ʻofa ki he fua ʻoe manāva; pea ʻe ʻikai fakamoʻui ʻe honau mata ʻae fānau tupu.
And [their] bows shall dash the young men to pieces, and they shall have no pity on the fruit of the womb: their eye shall not spare children.
19 Pea ko Papilone, ko e lelei lahi ʻoe ngaahi puleʻanga, ko e toulekeleka ʻoe laukau ʻae kakai ʻo Kalitia, ʻe tatau ia mo e fakaʻauha ʻa Sotoma mo Komola ʻe he ʻOtua.
And Babylon, the glory of kingdoms, the beauty of the Chaldeans' pride, shall be as when God overthrew Sodom and Gomorrah.
20 ‌ʻE ʻikai ʻaupito toe kakai ia, ʻe ʻikai nofo ʻi ai ha kakai mei he toʻutangata ki he toʻutangata: pea ʻe ʻikai fokotuʻu ʻe ha tangata ʻAlepea ʻae fale fehikitaki ʻi ai; pea ʻe ʻikai ngaohi ʻi ai ʻe he kau tauhi sipi hanau lotoʻā.
It shall never be inhabited, neither shall it be dwelt in, even to generation and generation; nor shall Arabian pitch tent there, nor shepherds make fold there.
21 Ka e tokoto ʻi ai ʻae ngaahi manu kaivao ʻoe potu lala; pea ʻe fonu honau ngaahi fale ʻi he ngaahi manu fakalielia; pea ʻe nofo ai ʻae ngaahi lulu, pea ʻe meʻe ai ʻae faʻahi kehe ʻoe vao.
But beasts of the desert shall lie there, and their houses shall be full of owls; and ostriches shall dwell there, and wild goats shall dance there.
22 Pea ʻe tangi ʻi honau ngaahi fale liʻaki ʻae fanga manu kaivao ʻoe ʻotu motu, pea mo e ngaahi talākoni ʻi honau ngaahi fale fakaʻeiʻeiki: pea kuo ofi ʻae hokosia ʻa hono kuonga, pea ʻe ʻikai fakalōloa hono ngaahi ʻaho.
And jackals shall cry to one another in their palaces, and wild dogs in the pleasant castles. And her time is near to come, and her days shall not be prolonged.
