< Hosea 9 >
1 ʻOua naʻa ke nekeneka, ʻe ʻIsileli, ʻi he fiefia, hangē ko e kakai kehe: he kuo ke ʻalu ʻo feʻauaki mei ho ʻOtua, kuo ke manako ʻae totongi ʻi he hahaʻanga koane kotoa pē.
Do not rejoice, Israel, to jubilation like the nations; for you were unfaithful to your God. You love the wages of a prostitute at every grain threshing floor.
2 Ko e hahaʻanga, mo e tataʻoʻanga uaine ʻe ʻikai fafanga ai ʻakinautolu, pea ʻe ʻikai ʻiate ia ʻae uaine foʻou.
The threshing floor and the winepress won't feed them, and the new wine will fail her.
3 ʻE ʻikai te nau nofo ʻi he fonua ʻo Sihova; ka ʻe tafoki ʻa ʻIfalemi ki ʻIsipite, pea te nau kai ʻae meʻa taʻemaʻa ʻi ʻAsilia.
They won't dwell in the LORD's land; but Ephraim will return to Egypt, and they will eat unclean food in Assyria.
They won't pour out wine offerings to the LORD, neither will they be pleasing to him. Their sacrifices will be to them like the bread of mourners; all who eat of it will be polluted; for their bread will be for their appetite. It will not come into the house of the LORD.
5 Ko e hā te mou fai ʻi he ʻaho mamafa, pea ʻi he ʻaho ʻoe kātoanga ʻa Sihova?
What will you do in the day of solemn assembly, and in the day of the feast of the LORD?
6 He, vakai, kuo nau ʻalu koeʻuhi ko e fakaʻauha: ʻe tānaki ʻakinautolu ʻe ʻIsipite, ʻe tanu ʻakinautolu ʻe Memifisi: ko e ngaahi potu lelei ki heʻenau siliva, ʻe maʻu ia ʻe he hongohongo: ʻe ʻi honau ngaahi fale fehikitaki ʻae ʻakau talatala.
For, look, they have gone away from destruction. Egypt will gather them up. Memphis will bury them. Nettles will possess their pleasant things of silver. Thorns will be in their tents.
7 Ko e ngaahi ʻaho ʻoe ʻaʻahi kuo hoko, ko e ngaahi ʻaho ʻoe totongi kuo hoko; ʻe ʻilo ia ʻe ʻIsileli, ‘Ko e palōfita ko e vale ia,’ ʻoku faha ʻae tangata fakalaumālie, ko e meʻa ʻi he lahi ʻo hoʻo hia, mo e fehiʻa lahi.
The days of visitation have come. The days of reckoning have come. Let Israel know. The prophet is a fool, and the man of the spirit is mad, because of the abundance of your sins, and because your hostility is great.
8 Ko e tangata leʻo ʻo ʻIfalemi naʻe ʻi hoku ʻOtua: ka ko e palōfita ko e tauhele ʻae tangata tauhele manu ʻi hono hala kotoa pē, mo e fehiʻanekina ʻi he fale ʻo hono ʻOtua.
A prophet watches over Ephraim with my God. A fowler's snare is on all of his paths, and hostility in the house of his God.
9 Kuo nau fakaʻuliʻi lahi ʻakinautolu ʻo hangē ko e ngaahi ʻaho ʻo Kipea: ko ia te ne manatu ʻenau hia, te ne ʻaʻahi ki heʻenau angahala.
They have deeply corrupted themselves, as in the days of Gibeah. He will remember their iniquity. He will punish them for their sins.
I found Israel like grapes in the wilderness. I saw your fathers as the first ripe in the fig tree at its first season; but they came to Baal Peor, and consecrated themselves to the shameful thing, and became abominable like that which they loved.
11 Ka ko ʻIfalemi, ʻe puna atu hono nāunau hangē ko e manupuna, mei he fāʻele, mo e manāva, pea mei he tuituʻia.
As for Ephraim, their glory will fly away like a bird. There will be no birth, none with child, and no conception.
12 Neongo ʻoku nau tauhi ʻenau fānau, ka te u fakamasiva ʻakinautolu, ke ʻoua naʻa toe ha tangata: ʻio, malaʻia foki kiate kinautolu ʻo kau ka mahuʻi meiate kinautolu!
Though they bring up their children, yet I will bereave them, so that not a man shall be left. Indeed, woe also to them when I depart from them.
13 ʻOku tō ʻa ʻIfalemi ʻi he potu lelei, hangē naʻaku mamata ki Taia; ka ʻe fanauʻi ʻe ʻIfalemi ʻa ʻene fānau ki he fakapō.
I have seen Ephraim, like Tyre, planted in a pleasant place; but Ephraim will bring out his children to the murderer.
14 Foaki kiate kinautolu, ʻe Sihova: ko e hā te ke foaki? Foaki kiate kinautolu ʻae manāva tōtama mo e huhu maha.
Give them—LORD what will you give? Give them a miscarrying womb and dry breasts.
15 “Ko ʻenau angakovi kotoa pē ʻoku ʻi Kilikali: he naʻe ʻi ai ʻeku fehiʻa kiate kinautolu: koeʻuhi ko e kovi ʻo ʻenau faianga, te u kapusi ʻakinautolu mei hoku fale, ʻe ʻikai te u toe ʻofa kiate kinautolu: ko e kau angatuʻu ʻa honau houʻeiki kotoa pē.
"All their wickedness is in Gilgal; for there I hated them. Because of the wickedness of their deeds I will drive them out of my house. I will love them no more. All their rulers are rebels.
16 Kuo taaʻi ʻa ʻIfalemi, kuo mōmoa honau aka, ʻe ʻikai te nau fua: ʻio, neongo ʻoku nau fānau, ka te u tāmateʻi ʻae ʻofeina ʻa honau manāva.”
Ephraim is struck. Their root has dried up. They will bear no fruit. Even though they bring forth, yet I will kill the beloved ones of their womb."
17 Ko hoku ʻOtua te ne liʻaki ʻakinautolu, koeʻuhi naʻe ʻikai te nau fanongo kiate ia: pea te nau hoko ko e kau ʻāuhē ʻi he ngaahi puleʻanga.
My God will cast them away, because they did not listen to him; and they will be wanderers among the nations.
