< Hosea 6 >
1 “Haʻu, pea tuku ke tau tafoki kia Sihova: he kuo ne haeʻi, pea te ne fakamoʻui ʻakitautolu; kuo ne taaʻi, pea te ne toe fakamaʻopoʻopo.
“Come, and let us return unto the Lord; for he hath torn, and he will heal us; he hath smitten, and he will bind up our wounds.
He will revive us after two days: on the third day he will raise us up, and we shall live in his presence.
3 Pea te tau toki ʻilo ʻoka tau ka muimui atu ke ʻilo ʻa Sihova: ko ʻene ʻalu atu ʻoku teuteu ʻo hangē ko e pongipongi; pea te ne hoko kiate kitautolu ʻo hangē ko e ʻuha, ko e ʻuha mui mo e ʻuha muʻa ki he kelekele.
And let us feel it, that we may strive to know the Lord; bright as the morning-dawn is his rising; and he will come as the rain unto us, as the latter rain that maketh fruitful the earth.”
4 “ʻE ʻIfalemi, Ko e hā te u fai kiate koe? ʻE Siuta, ko e hā te u fai kiate koe? He ko hoʻo lelei ʻoku hangē ko e ʻao ʻoe pongipongi, pea hangē ko e hahau ʻoe hengihengi ʻoku mole atu.
What shall I do unto thee, O Ephraim? what shall I do unto thee, O Judah? for your piety is as a morning cloud, and as the early dew that passeth away.
5 Ko ia kuo u taaʻi ʻakinautolu ʻi he kau palōfita; kuo u tāmateʻi ʻakinautolu ʻi he ngaahi lea ʻa hoku ngutu: pea ko hoʻo ngaahi fakamaau ʻoku hangē ko e maama ʻoku ulo atu.
Therefore did I hew [them] down by means of the prophets; I slew them by the words of my mouth: and thy punishments go forth like the light.
6 He kuo u holi ki he ʻaloʻofa, kae ʻikai ki he feilaulau; pea ko e ʻilo ki he ʻOtua ʻo lahi hake ʻi he feilaulau.
For piety I desired, and not sacrifice; and the knowledge of God, more than burnt-offerings.
7 Kae hangē ko e tangata kuo nau maumauʻi ʻae fuakava: kuo nau fai kākā ʻi ai kiate au.
But they, like an ordinary man, have transgressed the covenant: there have they dealt treacherously against me.
8 Ko e kolo ʻokinautolu ʻoku fai kovi ʻa Kiliati, pea ʻoku ʻuli ʻi he toto.
Gil'ad is become a city of workers of wickedness, is full of traces of blood.
9 Hangē ʻoku tatali ʻe he fakataha ʻoe kau kaihaʻa ki ha tangata, ʻoku pehē ʻae fai fakapō ʻi he hala ʻe he fakataha ʻoe kau taulaʻeiki ʻo loto tatau pe: he ʻoku nau fai angaʻuli.
And as troops that lie in wait for a man, so is the band of priests, they murder on the way in unison; for they commit scandalous deeds.
10 Kuo u mamata ki ha meʻa fakailifia ʻi he fale ʻo ʻIsileli: ʻoku ʻi ai ʻae feʻauaki ʻa ʻIfalemi, kuo ʻuliʻi ʻa ʻIsileli.
On the house of Israel have I seen a horrible thing: there is lewdness in Ephraim, Israel is become defiled.
11 “Kuo tuʻutuʻuni foki, ʻe Siuta, ha ututaʻu kiate koe, ʻi heʻene liliu ʻae pōpula ʻa hoku kakai.
Also for thee, O Judah, will a harvest be prepared, when I bring back the captivity of my people.
