1 Pea ko hono meʻa lahi [eni ]ʻi he ngaahi lea ni: ʻOku tau maʻu ʻae fungani taulaʻeiki pehē, pea kuo nofo ia ʻi he nima toʻomataʻu ʻoe ʻafioʻanga ʻoe Fungani Māʻolunga ʻi he ngaahi langi;
NOW of the things which we have spoken this is the sum: We have such an high priest, who is set on the right hand of the throne of the Majesty in the heavens;
2 Ko e tauhi ʻoe potu tapu, mo e fale fehikitaki moʻoni, ʻaia naʻe fokotuʻu ʻe he ʻOtua, kae ʻikai ko e tangata.
A minister of the sanctuary, and of the true tabernacle, which the Lord pitched, and not man.
3 He ko e taulaʻeiki lahi kotoa pē, kuo fakanofo ke ne ʻohake ʻae ngaahi meʻa foaki mo e ngaahi feilaulau: ko ia naʻe totonu mei ai ki he tangata ni ke ʻohake foki ʻe ia ha meʻa.
For every high priest is ordained to offer gifts and sacrifices: wherefore it is of necessity that this man have somewhat also to offer.
4 He ka ne ʻi māmani ia, ʻe ʻikai taulaʻeiki ia, koeʻuhi ʻoku ai ʻae kau taulaʻeiki ʻoku nau ʻohake ʻae ngaahi meʻa foaki ʻo fakatatau mo e fono:
For if he were on earth, he should not be a priest, seeing that there are priests that offer gifts according to the law:
5 ‌ʻAkinautolu ʻoku tauhi ʻo fakatatau mo e ata ʻoe ngaahi meʻa ʻoe langi, ʻo hangē ko e valokiʻi ʻe he ʻOtua ʻa Mōsese ʻi heʻene teu ke langa ʻae fale fehikitaki: he naʻe pehē mai ʻe ia, “Vakai ke ke ngaohi ʻae meʻa kotoa pē ʻo fakatatau ki hono fakatātā naʻe fakahā kiate koe ʻi he moʻunga.”
Who serve unto the example and shadow of heavenly things, as Moses was admonished of God when he was about to make the tabernacle: for, See, saith he, that thou make all things according to the pattern shewed to thee in the mount.
6 Ka ko eni, kuo maʻu ʻe ia ʻae ngaue ʻoku lelei lahi, ʻo hangē ko hono lelei lahi ʻoe fuakava ʻoku fakalaloa ai ia, ʻaia ʻoku fokotuʻu ʻi he ngaahi talaʻofa lelei lahi.
But now hath he obtained a more excellent ministry, by how much also he is the mediator of a better covenant, which was established upon better promises.
7 He ka ne haohaoa ʻae ʻuluaki [fuakava ]ko ia, pehē, ne ʻikai kumi ha potu mo hono ua.
For if that first covenant had been faultless, then should no place have been sought for the second.
For finding fault with them, he saith, Behold, the days come, saith the Lord, when I will make a new covenant with the house of Israel and with the house of Judah:
9 ‌ʻO ʻikai tatau mo e fuakava ʻaia ne u fai mo ʻenau ngaahi tamai, ʻi he ʻaho ne u puke ai honau nima ke tataki ʻakinautolu mei he fonua ko ʻIsipite; ʻoku pehē ʻe Sihova, koeʻuhi naʻe ʻikai ke nau tuʻumaʻu ʻi heʻeku fuakava, pea ne u taʻetokangaʻi ʻakinautolu.
Not according to the covenant that I made with their fathers in the day when I took them by the hand to lead them out of the land of Egypt; because they continued not in my covenant, and I regarded them not, saith the Lord.
10 He ko eni ʻae fuakava ʻaia te u fai mo e fale ʻo ʻIsileli ʻoka hili ange ʻae ngaahi ʻaho ko ia, ʻoku pehē ʻe Sihova; Teu ʻai ʻeku ngaahi fekau ki honau loto, pea tohi ia ʻi honau laumālie: pea teu hoko ko honau ʻOtua, pea ʻe hoko ʻakinautolu ko hoku kakai:
For this is the covenant that I will make with the house of Israel after those days, saith the Lord; I will put my laws into their mind, and write them in their hearts: and I will be to them a God, and they shall be to me a people:
11 Pea ʻe ʻikai te nau taki taha ako ki hono kaungāʻapi, mo taki taha ki hono kāinga, ʻo pehē, ‘Ke ʻilo ʻa Sihova:’ he koeʻuhi ʻe ʻiloʻi au kotoa pē, mei he iiki ʻo aʻu ki he lalahi.
And they shall not teach every man his neighbour, and every man his brother, saying, Know the Lord: for all shall know me, from the least to the greatest.
12 He te u ʻaloʻofa ki heʻenau taʻemāʻoniʻoni, pea ko ʻenau ngaahi angahala mo ʻenau hia, ʻe ʻikai te u kei manatuʻi.”
For I will be merciful to their unrighteousness, and their sins and their iniquities will I remember no more.
13 Pea ʻi heʻene pehē, Ko e [fuakava ]foʻou, kuo hā ai kuo motuʻa ʻae ʻuluaki. Pea ko ia kuo motuʻa mo vaivai, kuo tei mole ia.
In that he saith, A new covenant, he hath made the first old. Now that which decayeth and waxeth old is ready to vanish away.
