1 Ko ia ketau manavahē, telia, ʻi he tuku mai ʻae talaʻofa ʻoe hū ki hono mālōlōʻanga, ʻe ai hamou tokotaha ʻe tomui ki ai.
Let us therefore fear, lest at any time, although there is left behind a promise of entering into his rest, —any one from amongst you should be deemed, to have come short;
2 He kuo fakahā ʻae ongoongolelei kiate kitautolu, ʻo hangē ko kinautolu: ka ko e fanongo ki he folofola naʻe ʻikai ʻaonga kiate kinautolu, ko e ʻikai ke felingiʻaki ia ʻae tui ʻekinautolu naʻe fanongo.
For we have had delivered to us the joyful message, just as even, they; but the word which was heard did not profit them, they not having been blended, by faith, with the things heard.
3 He ko kitautolu ʻoku tui kuo tau hū ki he mālōlōʻanga, ʻo hangē ko ʻene folofola, “Kuo u fuakava ʻi heʻeku houhau, E ʻikai te nau hū ki hoku mālōlōʻanga:” ka kuo fakaʻosi ʻae ngaahi ngaue talu ʻae fakatupu ʻo māmani.
For we who have believed, are to enter into the rest, according as he hath said—So I sware in mine anger, They shall not enter into my rest; And yet, the works, from the foundation of the world, had been brought into existence,
4 He naʻe lea pehē ʻe ia ʻi he potu ʻe taha ki hono fitu ʻoe ʻaho, “Pea naʻe mālōlō ʻae ʻOtua ʻi hono fitu ʻoe ʻaho mei heʻene ngaue kotoa pē.”
For he hath spoken, somewhere, concerning the seventh [day], thus—And God rested, on the seventh day, from all his works;
5 Pea mo eni foki, “E ʻikai te nau hū ki hoku mālōlōʻanga.”
And in this again—They shall not enter into my rest.
6 Ko ia koeʻuhi kuo pau ʻe hū ki ai ʻae niʻihi, pea naʻe ʻikai hū ʻakinautolu naʻe tomuʻa malanga ia ki ai, ko e meʻa ʻi he taʻetui:
Seeing, therefore, that it is left over for, some, to enter into it, and, they who formerly had delivered to them the joyful message, entered not in by reason of obstinacy, —
7 (Pea toe kotofa ʻe ia ʻae ʻaho ʻe taha, ʻo pehē mai ʻia Tevita, “Ko e ʻaho ni,” ʻi he hili ʻae ngaahi taʻu lahi; ʻo hangē ko hono fakahā, “Ko e ʻaho ni, ʻo kapau te mou fanongo ki hono leʻo, ʻoua naʻa fakafefeka homou loto.”
Again, he marketh out a certain day, To-day, in David, saying—after so long a time as this, —according as it hath been said before: —To-day, if, unto his voice, ye would hearken, do not harden your hearts.
8 He ka ne foaki ʻe Siosiua, ʻae mālōlōʻanga kiate kinautolu, pehē, ʻe ʻikai folofola ia ki mui ki ha ʻaho kehe.
For, if, unto them, Joshua had given rest, it had not in that case, concerning another day, been speaking, after, these things.
9 Ko ia ʻoku kei toe ʻae mālōlōʻanga fakaSāpate ki he kakai ʻae ʻOtua.
Hence there is, left over, a Sabbath-keeping, for the people of God.
10 He ko ia kuo hū ki hono mālōlōʻanga, kuo mālōlō foki ʻe ia mei heʻene ngaue ʻaʻana, ʻo hangē ko e ʻOtua mei heʻene [ngaue].)
For, he that hath entered into his rest, He too, hath rested from his works, just as, from his own, God, [rested].
11 Ko ia ke tau fai feinga ke hū ki he mālōlōʻanga ko ia, telia naʻa ai ha taha ʻe hinga ʻi he fai ʻo fakatatau ki he taʻetui ko ia.
Let us, therefore, give diligence to enter into that rest, lest anyone fall into the same example, of obstinacy.
12 He ko e folofola ʻae ʻOtua ʻoku moʻui, mo mālohi, pea māsila lahi ʻi ha heletā ʻoku fakatoumata, ʻoku ʻasi ki hono vaheʻi ʻoe loto mo e laumālie, mo e ngaahi hokotanga hui mo e uho, pea ʻoku ne fakahā ʻae ngaahi mahalo mo e filioʻi ʻoe loto.
For, living, is the word of God, and, energetic, and more cutting than any knife with two edges, and penetrating as far as a dividing asunder of soul and spirit, of joints also, and marrow, and able to judge the impulses and designs of the heart;
13 Pea ʻoku ʻikai ha meʻa ʻe taha ʻoku taʻehāmai ʻi hono ʻao: ka ʻoku telefua pea tokaimaʻananga ʻae meʻa kotoa pē ki he fofonga ʻo ia ʻaia te tau fakamaau ki ai.
And there is, no created thing, can be secreted before him, but, all things, are naked and exposed to his eyes: —as to whom is, our discourse.
14 Ko ia ʻi heʻetau maʻu ʻae fungani taulaʻeiki lahi, ʻaia kuo hū atu ʻi he langi, ko Sisu ko e ʻAlo ʻoe ʻOtua, ke tau puke maʻu ʻa ʻetau lotu.
Having then a great high-priest who hath passed through the heavens, Jesus the Son of God, let us hold fast the confession;
15 He ʻoku ʻikai ke tau maʻu ʻae fungani taulaʻeiki ʻoku taʻemanavaʻofa ki heʻetau ngaahi vaivai; ka naʻe ʻahiʻahiʻi tatau pe ia ʻi he meʻa kotoa pē, ka naʻe ʻikai haʻane angahala.
For we have not a high-priest unable to have fellow-feeling with our weaknesses, but one tested in all respects, by way of likeness, apart from sin.
16 Ko ia ke tau haʻu mālohi ai ki he ʻafioʻanga ʻoe ʻaloʻofa, koeʻuhi ke tau maʻu ʻae ʻaloʻofa, pea ʻilo mo e foaki ʻofa, ke tokoni mai ʻi he ʻaho ʻe ʻaonga ai.
Let us, then, be approaching with freedom of speech, unto the throne of favour, that we may receive mercy, and, favour, may find, for seasonable succour.
