< ʻIsikieli 3 >
He said to me, “Son of man, eat what you find. Eat this scroll, and go, speak to the house of Israel.”
So I opened my mouth, and he caused me to eat the scroll.
3 Pea naʻa ne pehē kiate au, “Foha ʻoe tangata, kai ki loto, pea fakafonu ho loto fatu ʻaki ʻae takainga tohi ni kuo u foaki kiate koe. Ko ia naʻaku toki kai ia; pea naʻe melie ia ʻi hoku ngutu ʻo hangē ko e hone.
He said to me, “Son of man, eat this scroll that I give you and fill your belly and your bowels with it.” Then I ate it. It was as sweet as honey in my mouth.
4 Pea naʻa ne pehē kiate au, “Foha ʻoe tangata, ʻalu pea ke hoko atu ki he fale ʻo ʻIsileli, pea lea ʻaki kiate kinautolu ʻa ʻeku ngaahi lea.
He said to me, “Son of man, go to the house of Israel, and speak my words to them.
For you are not sent to a people of a strange speech and of a hard language, but to the house of Israel—
not to many peoples of a strange speech and of a hard language, whose words you can’t understand. Surely, if I sent you to them, they would listen to you.
7 Ka ʻoku ʻikai fie fanongo ʻe he fale ʻo ʻIsileli kiate koe: he naʻa mo au ʻoku ʻikai te nau fanongo: he kuo fielahi mo loto fefeka ʻae fale kotoa pē ʻo ʻIsileli.
But the house of Israel will not listen to you, for they will not listen to me; for all the house of Israel are obstinate and hard-hearted.
8 Vakai, kuo u fakamālohi ho mata ʻoʻou ki honau mata, pea mālohi mo ho foʻi laʻē ki honau foʻi laʻē.
Behold, I have made your face hard against their faces, and your forehead hard against their foreheads.
9 Hangē ko e taiamoni ʻoku fefeka lahi ʻi he maka afi, kuo u ngaohi ke pehē ho foʻi laʻē: ʻoua ʻe manavahē kiate kinautolu, pea ʻoua ʻe manavahē ki heʻenau sio, ka ko e fale angatuʻu moʻoni ʻakinautolu.”
I have made your forehead as a diamond, harder than flint. Don’t be afraid of them, neither be dismayed at their looks, though they are a rebellious house.”
10 Pea naʻa ne pehē mai foki kiate au, “Foha ʻoe tangata, ke ke maʻu ki ho loto ʻa ʻeku ngaahi lea kotoa pē ʻoku ou lea ʻaki kiate koe, pea fanongo mai ho telinga.
Moreover he said to me, “Son of man, receive in your heart and hear with your ears all my words that I speak to you.
11 Pea ke ʻalu, ʻalu koe kiate kinautolu ʻoku pōpula, ki he fānau ʻa hoʻo kakai, pea ke lea kiate kinautolu, pea tala ki ai, ʻOku pehē ʻe Sihova ko e ʻOtua; pe te nau fanongo, pe te nau taʻekātakiʻi.”
Go to them of the captivity, to the children of your people, and speak to them, and tell them, ‘This is what the Lord GOD says,’ whether they will hear, or whether they will refuse.”
12 Hili ia naʻe ʻave au ʻe he laumālie pea naʻaku fanongo ki he leʻo mei hoku tuʻa ʻo hangē ko e ʻuʻulu lahi, naʻe pehē, “Ke monūʻia ʻae nāunau ʻo Sihova ʻi hono ʻafioʻanga.”
Then the Spirit lifted me up, and I heard behind me the voice of a great rushing, saying, “Blessed be the LORD’s glory from his place.”
13 Pea [naʻaku fanongo ]foki ki he kapatā ʻae kapakau ʻoe ngaahi meʻa moʻui, ʻaia naʻe feuutaki, mo e longoaʻa ʻoe ngaahi teka naʻe fehangai mo kinautolu, mo e ʻuʻulu ʻoe mumuhu lahi.
I heard the noise of the wings of the living creatures as they touched one another, and the noise of the wheels beside them, even the noise of a great rushing.
14 Ko ia ne hiki au ʻe he laumālie ʻo ne ʻave au, pea naʻaku ʻalu ʻi he mamahi mo e lili ʻa hoku laumālie, ka naʻe mālohi ʻiate au ʻae nima ʻo Sihova.
So the Spirit lifted me up, and took me away; and I went in bitterness, in the heat of my spirit; and the LORD’s hand was strong on me.
15 Ko ia naʻaku haʻu ai kiate kinautolu ʻoku pōpula ʻi Telapipi naʻe nofo ki he vaitafe ko Kipa, pea naʻaku nofo ʻi honau nofoʻanga ʻo tatali ofi ai ʻiate kinautolu ʻi he ʻaho ʻe fitu.
Then I came to them of the captivity at Tel Aviv who lived by the river Chebar, and to where they lived; and I sat there overwhelmed among them seven days.
16 Pea ʻi heʻene hoko ki he fakaʻosi ʻoe ʻaho ʻe fitu, naʻe hoko mai kiate au ʻae folofola ʻa Sihova, ʻo pehē,
At the end of seven days, the LORD’s word came to me, saying,
17 “Foha ʻoe tangata, kuo u tuku koe ko e leʻo ki he fale ʻo ʻIsileli: ko ia ke ke fanongo ki he lea mei hoku ngutu, pea valokiʻi ʻakinautolu meiate au.
“Son of man, I have made you a watchman to the house of Israel. Therefore hear the word from my mouth, and warn them from me.
18 ʻO kau ka pehē ki he angahala, ‘Ko e moʻoni te ke mate;’ ka ʻoku ʻikai te ke valoki, pe lea ke fakatafoki ʻae angahala mei hono hala kovi, kae hao ai ʻene moʻui; ʻe mate moʻoni ʻi heʻene angahala ʻae angahala ko ia; ka ko hono toto te u ʻeke ia kiate koe.
When I tell the wicked, ‘You will surely die;’ and you give him no warning, nor speak to warn the wicked from his wicked way, to save his life, that wicked man will die in his iniquity; but I will require his blood at your hand.
19 Ka ko eni, kapau te ke valoki ʻae angahala, pea ʻoku ʻikai tafoki ia mei heʻene kovi, mo hono hala kovi, ʻe mate ia ʻi heʻene angahala, ka kuo ke fakaʻataʻatā ho laumālie ʻoʻou.
Yet if you warn the wicked, and he doesn’t turn from his wickedness, nor from his wicked way, he will die in his iniquity; but you have delivered your soul.”
20 Mo eni, ʻOka liliu ha tangata māʻoniʻoni mei heʻene māʻoniʻoni pea fai angahala, pea u ʻai ha tūkiaʻanga ʻi hono ʻao, ʻe mate ia: ʻe mate ia ʻi heʻene angahala pea ʻe ʻikai manatuʻi ʻae māʻoniʻoni ʻaia naʻa ne fai, ka ko e meʻa ʻi hoʻo taʻevaloki kiate ia, te u ʻeke mei ho nima ʻa hono toto:
“Again, when a righteous man turns from his righteousness and commits iniquity, and I lay a stumbling block before him, he will die. Because you have not given him warning, he will die in his sin, and his righteous deeds which he has done will not be remembered; but I will require his blood at your hand.
21 Ka koeʻuhi, kapau te ke valoki ʻae māʻoniʻoni, ke ʻoua naʻa fai hala ʻae māʻoniʻoni, pea ʻoku ʻikai ai te ne fai angahala, ko e moʻoni te ne moʻui, koeʻuhi kuo takitalaʻi; pea kuo ke fakaʻataʻatā foki ho laumālie.”
Nevertheless if you warn the righteous man, that the righteous not sin, and he does not sin, he will surely live, because he took warning; and you have delivered your soul.”
22 Pea naʻe ʻai kiate au ʻae nima ʻo Sihova ʻi ai; ʻo ne pehē kiate au, “Tuʻu, pea ʻalu atu ki he toafa, pea te u lea ai kiate koe.”
The LORD’s hand was there on me; and he said to me, “Arise, go out into the plain, and I will talk with you there.”
23 Ko ia naʻaku tuʻu hake, mo ʻalu atu ki he toafa: pea vakai naʻe tuʻu ʻi ai ʻae nāunau ʻo Sihova, ʻo hangē ko hono nāunau naʻaku mamata ai ʻi he potu vaitafe ʻo Kipa: pea naʻaku tōmapeʻe ki hoku mata.”
Then I arose, and went out into the plain, and behold, the LORD’s glory stood there, like the glory which I saw by the river Chebar. Then I fell on my face.
Then the Spirit entered into me and set me on my feet. He spoke with me, and said to me, “Go, shut yourself inside your house.
25 Ka ko koe, ʻE foha ʻoe tangata, vakai te nau ʻai kiate koe ʻae ngaahi haʻi, ʻonau haʻi ʻaki koe, pea ʻe ʻikai te ke fou atu kituʻa ʻiate kinautolu:
But you, son of man, behold, they will put ropes on you, and will bind you with them, and you will not go out among them.
I will make your tongue stick to the roof of your mouth so that you will be mute and will not be able to correct them, for they are a rebellious house.
27 Ka ʻi heʻeku lea kiate koe, te u faʻai ho ngutu, pea te ke tala kiate kinautolu, ʻOku pehē ʻe Sihova ko e ʻOtua; Ko ia ʻoku fanongo, tuku ke ne fanongo; pea ko ia ʻoku taʻofi, tuku ke ne taʻofi: he ko e fale angatuʻu ʻakinautolu.”
But when I speak with you, I will open your mouth, and you shall tell them, ‘This is what the Lord GOD says.’ He who hears, let him hear; and he who refuses, let him refuse; for they are a rebellious house.”
