< ʻIsikieli 22 >

1 Naʻe hoko foki kiate au ʻae folofola ʻa Sihova, ʻo pehē,
Yahweh gave me another message. He said,
2 “Ko eni, ʻa koe foha ʻoe tangata, ʻe ʻikai koā te ke fakamaau ʻae kolo pani toto? ʻIo, te ke fakahā kiate ia ʻa ʻene ngaahi fakalielia.
“You human, are you ready to condemn the people of Jerusalem? It is [RHQ] a city full of murderers [MTY]. Remind them of all the detestable things that they have done.
3 Pea ke toki pehē, ʻOku pehē ʻe Sihova ko e ʻOtua, ʻoku lilingi toto ʻe he kolo ʻi hono lotolotonga ʻo ia, koeʻuhi kae hoko hono ʻaho, ʻo ne ngaohi maʻana ʻae ngaahi tamapua, ka ne fakalielia ʻaki ia.
[Then] say, ‘This is what Yahweh the Lord says: By your murdering people and by (defiling yourselves/making yourselves unacceptable to God) by making idols, you people of this city [APO] have brought to yourselves the time when you [will be destroyed].
4 Kuo ke halaia koe ʻi he toto kuo ke lilingi; pea kuo ke fakalieliaʻi koe ʻe koe ʻi he ngaahi tamapua ʻaia kuo ke ngaohi; pea kuo ke fakaofi ʻe koe ho ngaahi ʻaho, pea kuo hokosia ni ho ngaahi taʻu: ko ia ia kuo u ngaohi koe ko e manukiʻanga ʻoe hiteni, mo e lumaʻanga ki he ngaahi fonua kotoa pē.
You have become guilty by doing both of those things [DOU]. You have brought to an end your time [to remain alive] [DOU]. Therefore I will cause you to become a group whom the [people of other] nations will scorn; they will all laugh at you [DOU].
5 ‌ʻE manuki kiate koe ʻakinautolu kotoa pē ʻoku ofi, mo ia ʻoku mamaʻo, ʻa koe kuo fakalielia ho hingoa, pea kuo fakamamahiʻi ʻaupito.
People in countries that are near you and people who live far from you will make fun of you, because your city is full of lawless people and full of confusion.
6 Vakai, naʻe mālohi ke lilingi toto ʻa ho ngaahi houʻeiki kotoa pē ʻiate koe.
Think about how each of your Israeli kings have used their power to cause people to be murdered [MTY].
7 Kuo nau liʻaki ʻiate koe ʻae tamai mo e faʻē: kuo nau fai fakamālohi ki he muli ʻiate koe: pea ʻiate koe kuo nau fakamamahiʻi ʻae tamai mate mo e kau fefine naʻe mate ʻa honau husepāniti.
Your people do not respect/honor their parents; they have oppressed foreigners; they mistreat orphans and widows.
8 Kuo ke manuki ʻa ʻeku ngaahi meʻa māʻoniʻoni, pea kuo ke fakalieliaʻi ʻa hoku ngaahi ʻaho tapu.
You despise my sacred places and (dishonor/do not respect) the Sabbath days.
9 ‌ʻOku ʻiate koe ʻae kau tangata ʻoku feʻaveʻaki lea ki he lilingi ʻoe toto: pea ʻoku ʻiate koe ʻakinautolu ʻoku kai ʻi he ngaahi moʻunga: ʻoku fai ʻae fakalielia ʻiate koe.
Among you are men who tell lies in order to cause others to be executed [MTY]. There are those who [food offered to idols] at the hilltop [shrines], and they perform disgusting sexual acts.
10 Kuo nau sio ʻiate koe ki he mā ʻo ʻenau tamai: kuo nau fakatōkilalo ia, ʻaia naʻe fakatapui ʻi hono mahaki.
There are men who have sex with their father’s wives [EUP], and men who have sex with women during their monthly menstrual periods.
11 Pea kuo taki taha tonoʻi ʻae uaifi ʻo hono kaungāʻapi, pea kuo taki taha fai kovi mo hono ʻofefine ʻi he fono, pea kuo taki taha fai kovi mo hono tuofefine, ʻae ʻofefine ʻo ʻene tamai.
There are men who have sex with someone else’s wife. Some men have sex with their daughters-in-law or with their sisters or half-sisters.
12 Kuo nau ʻatu meʻa ʻiate koe ke lilingi ai ʻae toto; kuo ke maʻu ʻae totongi mo e tupu ʻoe koloa taʻetotonu, pea kuo ke fakatoʻotoʻo ʻae tupu ʻo hoʻo koloa ʻi he fai fakamālohi ki ho kaungāʻapi, pea kuo ke fakangalongaloʻi au,” ʻoku pehē ʻe Sihova ko e ʻOtua.
There are among you men who accept bribes in order to cause someone to be executed [MTY]. You charge high interest when you lend people money. You become rich by forcing people to give you money. [the worst thing is that] you have forgotten me, Yahweh the Lord.
13 “Vakai, ko ia ia kuo u pasi tātaha ai hoku nima, ko e meʻa ʻi he koloa taʻetotonu kuo ke maʻu, pea mo e toto kuo lilingi ʻi loto ʻiate koe.
So I will shake my fists at you to show that I am angry with you because of your stealing money from people and murdering [MTY] people who live among you.
14 ‌ʻE faʻa kātaki koā ho loto, pe mālohi ho nima ʻi he ʻaho te ta fai ai mo koe? Ko au ko Sihova kuo u lea ʻaki ia, pea te u fai ki ai.
When I [punishing] you, you will no longer [RHQ] be courageous/brave [DOU]. I, Yahweh, have said [what I will do to you], and I will do it.
15 Pea te u fakahēʻi koe ki he ngaahi hiteni mo fakamovetevete koe ki he ngaahi fonua, pea te u fakaʻosiʻosi mei ho lotolotonga ʻa hoʻo fakalielia.
I will cause you to be scattered among many nations [DOU], and I will cause you to stop your sinful behavior.
16 Pea ʻe fakalieliaʻi koe ʻe koe pē ʻi he ʻao ʻoe hiteni, pea te ke ʻilo au, ko au ko Sihova.”
When [the people of other] nations see that you have been humiliated, you will know that I, Yahweh, [have the power to do what I say that I will do].’”
17 Pea naʻe hoko mai ʻae folofola ʻa Sihova kiate au, ʻo pehē,
Yahweh [also] said to me,
18 “Foha ʻoe tangata, kuo hoko ʻae fale ʻo ʻIsileli kiate au ko e ʻefinanga meʻa: kuo tatau kotoa pē ʻakinautolu mo e palasa, mo e tini, mo e ukamea, mo e pulu ʻi he loto tutuʻanga meʻa; pea kuo nau tatau pe mo e toenga ʻuli ʻoe siliva.
“You human, your Israeli people [MTY] have [useless] to me. They are [like] [MET] dross/slag to me. They are like [SIM] [worthless] copper, tin, iron, and lead that remains after silver is melted in [very hot] furnace.
19 Ko ia ʻoku pehē ai ʻe Sihova ko e ʻOtua: Ko e meʻa ʻi hoʻomou hoko ko e ʻefinanga meʻa, vakai, ko ia ia te u tānaki ʻakimoutolu ki he lotolotonga ʻo Selūsalema.
Therefore, this is what [I], Yahweh the Lord, say: Because you have all become [like] dross/slag, I will gather you in Jerusalem.
20 ‌ʻO hangē ʻoku tānaki ki he lotolotonga ʻoe tutuʻanga meʻa ʻae siliva, mo e palasa, mo e ukamea mo e pulu, pea mo e tini, kae tafu ʻae afi ki ai, ko hono haka ke vai; ʻe pehē mo ʻeku tānaki koe ʻi hoku houhau mo ʻeku tuputāmaki, pea te u tuku koe ʻi ai, pea te ke hoko ko e vai.
People [ore containing] silver, copper, iron, lead, and tin in a [very hot] furnace and melt them in a blazing [to burn up the impurities]. Similarly [SIM], I will gather you [inside Jerusalem], and because I am very angry with you, [what I will do will be as though] I am melting you.
21 ‌ʻIo, te u tānaki ʻakimoutolu, pea te u ifi kiate kimoutolu ʻi he afi ʻo hoku houhau, pea ʻe fakavai ʻakimoutolu ʻi hono lotolotonga ʻo ia.
[It will be as though] I will blow on you with a hot breath that shows that I am very angry, [it will be as though] you will be melted,
22 ‌ʻO hangē ʻoku fakavai ʻae siliva ʻi he loto tutuʻanga meʻa, ʻe pehē mo e fakavai ʻa koe ʻi hono lotolotonga; pea te mou ʻilo ko au ko Sihova kuo u lilingi hoku houhau kiate kimoutolu.”
as though you will be melted like [SIM] silver is melted in a furnace, and then you will know that I, Yahweh, have poured out my punishment [MTY] on you.”
23 Pea naʻe hoko mai ʻae folofola ʻa Sihova kiate au, ʻo pehē,
Yahweh gave me another message. He said,
24 “Foha ʻoe tangata, ke ke pehē kiate ia, Ko e fonua koe, ʻoku ʻikai ke fakamaʻa, pe ʻuheina, ʻi he ʻaho ʻoe houhau.
“You human, say to the Israeli people, ‘[Yahweh] is angry with you, there has been no rain or showers in your country.’
25 Kuo kau taha ʻae kau kikite ʻiate ia, ʻo hangē ko e laione ngungulu, ke haehae ʻene meʻakai, kuo nau faʻapuku hake ʻae ngaahi laumālie: kuo nau ʻave ʻae koloa mo e ngaahi meʻa mahuʻinga; kuo nau fakamasiva husepāniti ʻae fefine tokolahi ʻi ai.
Your leaders are like [SIM] lions that tear apart the animals that they have killed. Your leaders destroy their people. They steal treasures and [other] valuable things from people, and they cause many women to become [by murdering their husbands].
26 Kuo maumauʻi ʻeku fono ʻe heʻene kautaulaʻeiki, pea kuo nau fakalieliaʻi ʻa ʻeku ngaahi meʻa māʻoniʻoni: naʻe ʻikai te nau ʻai ke ʻilonga ʻae māʻoniʻoni mo e fakalielia, pea naʻe ʻikai foki te nau ʻai ke ʻilonga ʻaia ʻoku taʻemaʻa mo ia ʻoku maʻa, pea kuo tafoki honau mata mei hoku ngaahi ʻaho tapu, pea kuo fakalieliaʻi au ʻiate kinautolu.
Their priests disobey my laws and disrespect my sacred things by saying that there is no difference between things that are sacred and those that are not sacred, and by ignoring my laws about honoring the Sabbath days. As a result, they no [longer] honor me.
27 ‌ʻOku hangē ʻae houʻeiki ʻiate ia, ko e fanga ulofi ʻoku haehae ʻenau meʻakai, ke lilingi toto, mo maumau laumālie, pea ke maʻu koloa taʻetotonu.
Their officials are like [SIM] wolves that tear apart the animals that they have killed: They murder people [DOU] in order to get their money.
28 Pea kuo laku ʻae lahe taʻepipiki ʻe heʻene kau kikite kiate kinautolu, kuo nau sio ki he vaʻinga mo kikite ʻaki ʻae loi kiate kinautolu, ʻonau pehē, ʻOku pehē, ʻe Sihova ko e ʻOtua, ka naʻe ʻikai folofola ʻa Sihova.
Their prophets, by falsely saying they have received [from God], and by giving false messages, try to (cover up [MET]/say that it is all right to commit) those sins. They say, ‘This is what Yahweh the Lord says,’ when I have said nothing to them.
29 Kuo fai ʻae fakamālohi ʻe he kakai ʻoe fonua, ʻonau fai ʻae kaihaʻa, mo e fakamamahi ʻae masiva mo e paea: ʻio, kuo nau fakamālohi taʻetotonu ki he kau muli.
The Israeli people force others to give them money, and they rob people. They oppress poor [DOU] people, and they mistreat foreigners among them by not treating them [in the courts].
30 Pea naʻaku kumi ki ha tangata ʻiate kinautolu ke ne fakamaʻopoʻopo ʻae ʻa mo tuʻu ʻi he ava ʻi hoku ʻao koeʻuhi ko e fonua, koeʻuhi ke ʻoua naʻaku fakaʻauha ia; ka naʻe ʻikai ʻiloa ha taha.
I looked among them to find a man who would cause the people of the city to repent [MET] so that I would not need to get rid of them. But I did not find anyone.
31 Ko ia kuo u lilingi atu ai ʻa hoku houhau kiate kinautolu; kuo u fakaʻauha ʻakinautolu ʻi he afi ʻo hoku tuputāmaki:” ʻOku pehē ʻe Sihova ko e ʻOtua, “Kuo u totongi ki honau tumuʻaki pe ʻonautolu ʻa ʻenau faianga.”
So because I am very angry with them, I will severely punish them [MTY] for [all] the wicked things that they have done. [That will surely happen because I], Yahweh the Lord, have said it.”
