1 Pea naʻe hoko mai ʻae folofola ʻa Sihova, ʻo pehē,
The LORD’s word came to me, saying,
2 “Foha ʻoe tangata, kikite ki he kau kikite ʻo ʻIsileli ʻoku kikite, pea ke pehē ʻe koe kiate kinautolu ʻoku kikite mei honau loto ʻonautolu pē, Mou fanongo ʻakimoutolu ki he folofola ʻa Sihova.”
“Son of man, prophesy against the prophets of Israel who prophesy, and say to those who prophesy out of their own heart, ‘Hear the LORD’s word:
3 ‌ʻOku pehē ʻe Sihova ko e ʻOtua; ‘Malaʻia ki he kau kikite vale, ʻaia kuo muimui ki honau laumālie ʻonautolu pē, ka ʻoku ʻikai ke mamata ki ha meʻa!
The Lord GOD says, “Woe to the foolish prophets, who follow their own spirit, and have seen nothing!
4 ‌ʻE ʻIsileli ʻoku tatau hoʻo kau kikite mo e fanga fokisi ʻi he toafa.
Israel, your prophets have been like foxes in the waste places.
5 ‌ʻOku ʻikai te mou ʻalu hake ki he ngaahi ava, pe ngaohi ʻae ʻā ki he fale ʻo ʻIsileli, koeʻuhi ke tuʻumaʻu ai ʻi he tau ʻi he ʻaho ʻo Sihova.
You have not gone up into the gaps or built up the wall for the house of Israel, to stand in the battle in the LORD’s day.
6 Kuo nau mamata ki he vaʻinga mo e kikite loi! ʻI heʻenau pehē, ʻOku pehē ʻe Sihova: ka naʻe ʻikai fekau ʻakinautolu ʻe Sihova: pea kuo nau fakaʻamanaki ʻae niʻihi ki he fakamoʻoni ʻo ʻenau lea.
They have seen falsehood and lying divination, who say, ‘The LORD says;’ but the LORD has not sent them. They have made men to hope that the word would be confirmed.
7 ‌ʻIkai kuo mou mamata ki he meʻa hā mai ʻoku vaʻinga, pea ʻikai kuo mou lea ʻaki ʻae kikite loi ʻi hoʻomou pehē, ʻOku pehē ʻe Sihova; kae ʻosi ʻoku ʻikai te u lea au?”
Haven’t you seen a false vision, and haven’t you spoken a lying divination, in that you say, ‘The LORD says;’ but I have not spoken?”
8 Ko ia ʻoku pehē ʻe Sihova ko e ʻOtua, “Koeʻuhi kuo mou lea ʻaki ʻae vaʻinga, mo mamata ki he loi, ko ia, vakai, ko au ia ʻe fai mo kimoutolu, ʻoku pehē ʻe Sihova ko e ʻOtua.
“‘Therefore the Lord GOD says: “Because you have spoken falsehood and seen lies, therefore, behold, I am against you,” says the Lord GOD.
9 Pea ʻe tō hoku nima ki he kau kikite ʻoku mamata ki he vaʻinga, mo nau kikite loi: ʻe ʻikai te nau kau ʻi he fakataha ʻo hoku kakai, pea ʻe ʻikai tohi ʻakinautolu ʻi he tohi ʻoe fale ʻo ʻIsileli; pea ʻe ʻikai te nau hū ki he fonua ʻo ʻIsileli; he te mou ʻilo ko au, ko Sihova, ko e ʻOtua.
“My hand will be against the prophets who see false visions and who utter lying divinations. They will not be in the council of my people, neither will they be written in the writing of the house of Israel, neither will they enter into Eretz-Israel. Then you will know that I am the Lord GOD.”
10 Koeʻuhi, ʻio, koeʻuhi kuo nau kākaaʻi ʻa hoku kakai, ʻi heʻenau pehē, Fiemālie; ka ʻoku ʻikai ha fiemālie; pea naʻe langa hake ʻe he tokotaha ʻae ʻā, pea vakai naʻe laku ki ai ʻae lahe taʻepipiki ʻe he niʻihi kehe.
“‘Because, even because they have seduced my people, saying, “Peace;” and there is no peace. When one builds up a wall, behold, they plaster it with whitewash.
11 Tala kiate kinautolu ʻoku laku ki ai ʻae lahe taʻepipiki, ʻe hinga ia: ʻe ai ʻae ʻuha lahi; pea ʻe tō hifo ʻakimoutolu, ʻae ngaahi maka lahi ʻoe ʻuha fefeka; pea ʻe hae ia ʻe he matangi mālohi.
Tell those who plaster it with whitewash that it will fall. There will be an overflowing shower; and you, great hailstones, will fall. A stormy wind will tear it.
12 Vakai ʻoka hinga ʻae ʻā, ʻikai ʻe pehē ai kiate kimoutolu, Ko fē ia ʻae laku lahe ʻaia naʻa mou fai?”
Behold, when the wall has fallen, won’t it be said to you, “Where is the plaster with which you have plastered it?”
13 Ko ia ʻoku pehē ʻe Sihova ko e ʻOtua; “ʻIo, ko au te u hae ia ʻaki ʻae matangi mālohi ʻi heʻeku houhau lahi: pea ko e meʻa ʻi heʻeku ʻita ʻe ʻi ai ʻae ʻuha lahi, pea mo e ʻuha maka ke fakaʻosiʻosi ia ʻi heʻeku houhau lahi.
“‘Therefore the Lord GOD says: “I will even tear it with a stormy wind in my wrath. There will be an overflowing shower in my anger, and great hailstones in wrath to consume it.
14 ‌ʻE pehē ʻa ʻeku maumauʻi ki lalo ʻae ʻā ʻaia kuo mou laku ai ʻae lahe taʻepipiki, pea ʻe holoki hifo ia ki he kelekele; ʻio, naʻa mo hono tuʻunga ʻe hā ia, pea ʻe hinga ia, pea ʻe fakaʻauha ʻakimoutolu ʻi loto ʻi ai: pea te mou ʻilo ko Sihova au.
So I will break down the wall that you have plastered with whitewash, and bring it down to the ground, so that its foundation will be uncovered. It will fall, and you will be consumed in the middle of it. Then you will know that I am the LORD.
15 ‌ʻE pehē ʻa ʻeku fakahoko ʻeku houhau ki he ʻā, mo kinautolu
Thus I will accomplish my wrath on the wall, and on those who have plastered it with whitewash. I will tell you, ‘The wall is no more, nor those who plastered it—
16 ‌ʻAe kau kikite ʻo ʻIsileli, ʻoku kikite ki Selūsalema, pea ʻoku mamata ki he meʻa hā mai ʻoe fakamelino kiate ia, ka ʻoku ʻikai ha melino;” ʻoku pehē ʻe Sihova ko e ʻOtua.
to wit, the prophets of Israel who prophesy concerning Jerusalem, and who see visions of peace for her, and there is no peace,’” says the Lord GOD.’”
17 “Ko eni foki, ʻa koe, foha ʻoe tangata, fakahangatonu ho mata ki he ngaahi ʻofefine ʻo hoʻo kakai, ʻakinautolu ʻoku kikite mei honau loto ʻonautolu; pea ke kikite koe kiate kinautolu.
You, son of man, set your face against the daughters of your people, who prophesy out of their own heart; and prophesy against them,
18 Pea ke lea, ‘ʻOku pehē ʻe Sihova ko e ʻOtua;’ Malaʻia ki he kau fefine ʻoku tuitui ʻae faakiʻanga ki he nima kotoa pē, mo ngaohi ʻae pūlou ki he ʻulu kehekehe ke tuli ʻae ngaahi laumālie! Te mou tuli koā ʻae laumālie ʻo hoku kakai, pea te mou fakamoʻui ʻae laumālie ʻoku haʻu kiate kimoutolu?
and say, “The Lord GOD says: ‘Woe to the women who sew magic bands on all elbows and make veils for the head of persons of every stature to hunt souls! Will you hunt the souls of my people and save souls alive for yourselves?
19 Pea te mou fakalieliaʻi au ʻi hoku kakai, koeʻuhi ko ha falukunga ʻoe paʻale mo ha konga mā, ke tāmate ʻae laumālie ʻoku ʻikai totonu ke mate, pea ke fakamoʻui ʻae laumālie ʻoku ʻikai totonu ke moʻui, ʻi hoʻomou loi ki hoku kakai ʻoku fanongo ki he loi?”
You have profaned me among my people for handfuls of barley and for pieces of bread, to kill the souls who should not die and to save the souls alive who should not live, by your lying to my people who listen to lies.’
20 Ko ia ʻoku pehē ai ʻe Sihova ko e ʻOtua; “Vakai ʻoku ou fehiʻa ki homou faakiʻanga ʻaia ʻoku mou tauhele ʻaki ʻae ngaahi laumālie; pea te u hae ia mei homou nima mo tukuange ʻae ngaahi laumālie, ʻio, ʻae ngaahi laumālie ʻoku mou tuli ke tauheleʻi.
“Therefore the Lord GOD says: ‘Behold, I am against your magic bands, with which you hunt the souls to make them fly, and I will tear them from your arms. I will let the souls fly free, even the souls whom you ensnare like birds.
21 Te u haehae foki ʻa homou pūlou mo fakamoʻui ʻa hoku kakai mei homou nima, pea ʻe ʻikai te nau kei ʻi homou nima ke tauheleʻi; pea te mou ʻilo ko Sihova au.
I will also tear your veils and deliver my people out of your hand; and they will no longer be in your hand to be ensnared. Then you will know that I am the LORD.
22 “Koeʻuhi kuo mou fakamamahiʻi ʻae loto ʻoe māʻoniʻoni ʻaki ʻae ngaahi loi, ʻaia naʻe ʻikai te u fakamamahi; mo fakamālohi ʻae nima ʻoe angahala ke ʻoua naʻa foki ia mei hono hala kovi, ʻi hoʻomou tala moʻui ki ai:
Because with lies you have grieved the heart of the righteous, whom I have not made sad; and strengthened the hands of the wicked, that he should not return from his wicked way, and be saved alive.
23 Ko ia ʻe ʻikai te mou toe mamata ki he vaʻinga, pe fai ʻae kikite: he te u fakamoʻui ʻa hoku kakai mei homou nima: pea te mou ʻilo ko Sihova au.”
Therefore you shall no more see false visions nor practice divination. I will deliver my people out of your hand. Then you will know that I am the LORD.’”
