< Teutalonome 32 >
1 “ʻAe ngaahi langi, mou tokanga, pea te u lea; pea ke fanongo, ʻE māmani, ki he ngaahi lea ʻa hoku ngutu.
Give ear, you heavens, and I will speak. Let the earth hear the words of my mouth.
2 ʻE tō ʻeku akonaki ʻo hangē ko e ʻuha, ʻe ʻalu hifo ʻeku ngaahi lea ʻo hangē ko e hahau, ʻo hangē ko e taumosi ki he ʻakau vaivai, ʻo hangē ko e ʻuha tuʻu mo tō ki he mohuku:
My doctrine shall drop as the rain. My speech shall condense as the dew, as the small rain on the tender grass, as the showers on the herb.
3 Ko e meʻa ʻi heʻeku fakaongo atu ʻae huafa ʻo Sihova: mou tuku ʻae māfimafi ki hotau ʻOtua.
For I will proclaim the name of the LORD. Ascribe greatness to our God.
4 “Ko ia ko e Maka! ʻOku haohaoa ʻa ʻene ngāue: he ko ʻene ʻulungāanga kotoa pē ʻoku angatonu: ko e ʻOtua ʻoe moʻoni, mo taʻehalaia, ʻoku angatonu mo māʻoniʻoni ia.
The Rock, his work is perfect, for all his ways are justice. A faithful God and without iniquity, just and right is he.
5 Kuo nau fakahalaʻi ʻakinautolu, ko honau ʻila ʻoku ʻikai ko e fakaʻilonga ʻo ʻene fānau: ko e toʻutangata mioʻi mo pikopiko ʻakinautolu.
They have dealt corruptly with him. They are not his children, because of their defect. They are a perverse and crooked generation.
6 He ʻoku pehē hoʻomou totongi kia Sihova, ʻae kakai vale mo taʻepoto? ʻIkai ko hoʻo tamai ia naʻa ne fakatau koe? ʻIkai naʻa ne ngaohi koe, mo fokotuʻumaʻu koe?
Do you thus requite the LORD, foolish people and unwise? Isn't he your father who has bought you? He has made you, and established you.
Remember the days of old. Consider the years of many generations. Ask your father, and he will show you; your elders, and they will tell you.
8 ʻI he vahe atu ʻe he Fungani Māʻolunga ki he ngaahi puleʻanga ʻa honau tofiʻa, ʻi heʻene fakamovetevete ʻae ngaahi foha ʻo ʻAtaina, naʻa ne ʻai ʻae fakangataʻanga ki he kakai ʻo fakatatau ki hono lau ʻoe fānau ʻa ʻIsileli.
When the Most High gave to the nations their inheritance, when he divided humankind, he set the bounds of the peoples according to the number of the sons of God.
9 He ko e tofiʻa ʻo Sihova ʻa hono kakai ko e afo ʻo hono tofiʻa ʻa Sēkope.
For the LORD's portion is his people. Jacob is the lot of his inheritance.
10 “Naʻa ne ʻilo ia ʻi he fonua lala, pea ʻi he toafa liʻaki mo ngungulu; naʻa ne tataki fano ia, ʻo ne akonakiʻi ia, naʻa ne tauhi ia ʻo hangē ko e tama ʻo hono mata.
He found him in a desert land, in the waste howling wilderness. He surrounded him. He cared for him. He kept him as the apple of his eye.
As an eagle that stirs up her nest, that flutters over her young, he spread abroad his wings, he took them, he bore them on his feathers.
12 “Naʻe pehē hono tataki ia tokotaha pe ʻe Sihova, pea naʻe ʻikai ha ʻotua kehe mo ia.
The LORD alone led him. There was no foreign god with him.
13 Naʻa ne fakaheka ia ke heka ki he ngaahi potu māʻolunga ʻo māmani, koeʻuhi ke ne kai ʻae tupu ʻoe ngoue; pea naʻa ne ngaohi ia ke ne mimisi ʻae hone mei he maka, mo e lolo mei he makaafi;
He made him ride on the high places of the earth. He ate the increase of the field. He caused him to suck honey out of the rock, oil out of the flinty rock;
14 Ko e pota mei he fanga pulu fefine, mo e huʻahuhu ʻoe sipi, mo e ngako ʻoe fanga lami, mo e fanga sipitangata ʻi he faʻahinga mei Pesani, mo e fanga kosi mo hono ngako ʻoe ngaahi tengaʻi uite; pea naʻa ke inu ʻae toto totonu ʻoe kālepi.
Butter of the herd, and milk of the flock, with fat of lambs, rams of the breed of Bashan, and goats, with the finest of the wheat. Of the blood of the grape you drank wine.
15 “Ka naʻe fakaʻaʻau ʻo sino ʻa Sesuluni, pea ʻakafisi: kuo ke hoko ʻo sino, kuo ke hoko ʻo matolu, kuo ʻufiʻufi koe [ʻe he sino]; pea naʻa ne toki liʻaki ʻae ʻOtua ʻaia naʻa ne ngaohi ia, pea naʻa ne taʻefakaʻapaʻapa ki he Maka ʻo hono fakamoʻui.
But Jacob ate his fill. Jeshurun grew fat, and kicked. You have grown fat. You have grown thick. You have become sleek. Then he forsook God who made him, and lightly esteemed the Rock of his salvation.
16 Naʻa nau langaʻi ʻaki hono fuaʻa ʻae ngaahi ʻotua kehe, naʻa nau fakatupu hono houhau ʻaki ʻenau ngaahi angakovi.
They moved him to jealousy with strange gods. They provoked him to anger with abominations.
17 Naʻa nau feilaulau ki he ngaahi tēvolo, kae ʻikai ki he ʻOtua; ki he ngaahi ʻotua naʻe ʻikai tenau ʻilo, ko e foʻou naʻe toki tupu foʻou hake, ʻaia naʻe ʻikai manavahē hoʻomou tamai ki ai.
They sacrificed to demons, not God, to gods that they did not know, to new gods that came up recently, which your fathers did not dread.
18 ʻOku ke taʻetokanga ki he Maka naʻa ke tupu ai, pea kuo ke fakangaloʻi ʻae ʻOtua ʻaia naʻa ne fakafuofua koe.
the Rock who fathered you, you are unmindful, and have forgotten God who gave you birth.
19 “Pea ʻi he ʻafio ʻa Sihova, naʻa ne fehiʻa [kiate kinautolu], ko e meʻa ʻi he fakatupu ʻene houhau ʻe hono ngaahi foha, mo hono ngaahi ʻofefine.
The LORD saw and abhorred, because of the provocation of his sons and his daughters.
20 Pea naʻe pehē ʻe ia, ‘Te u fufū hoku fofonga meiate kinautolu, te u vakai, pe ko e hā honau ngataʻanga: he ko e toʻutangata angatuʻu ʻaupito ʻakinautolu, ko e fānau ʻoku ʻikai ʻiate kinautolu ʻae tui.
He said, "I will hide my face from them. I will see what their end shall be; for they are a very perverse generation, children in whom is no faithfulness.
21 Kuo nau langaʻi ʻaki ʻeku fuaʻa ʻaia ʻoku ʻikai ko e ʻotua; kuo nau fakatupu ʻaki ʻeku houhau ʻenau ngaahi meʻa vaʻinga: pea te u ueʻi ʻaki ʻenau fuaʻa ʻekinautolu ʻoku ʻikai ko e kakai; te u fakatupu ʻenau ʻita ʻaki ʻae kakai vale.
They have moved me to jealousy with that which is not God. They have provoked me to anger with their vanities. I will move them to jealousy with those who are not a people. I will provoke them to anger with a foolish nation.
22 He kuo tutu ʻae afi ʻi heʻeku houhau, pea ʻe vela ia ʻo aʻu ki loto heli, pea ʻe fakaʻauha ai ʻa māmani mo hono tupu, pea ʻe tutu ai ʻae ngaahi tuʻunga ʻoe ngaahi moʻunga. (Sheol )
For a fire is kindled in my anger, and burns to the lowest Sheol, and devours the earth with its increase, and sets the foundations of the mountains on fire. (Sheol )
23 “‘Te u fokotuʻutuʻu ʻae ngaahi kovi kiate kinautolu; te u fakaʻosi ʻa ʻeku ngaahi ngahau kiate kinautolu.
"I will heap evils on them. I will spend my arrows on them.
24 ʻE vela ʻakinautolu ʻaki ʻae honge, pea ʻe fakaʻosi ʻakinautolu ʻaki ʻae malalaʻi afi, pea ʻi he fakaʻauha fakamamahi: te u fekau ʻae kau nifo, ʻoe fanga manu kaivao kiate kinautolu, mo e kona ʻoe fanga ngata ʻoe efu.
They shall be wasted with hunger, and devoured with burning heat and bitter destruction. I will send the teeth of animals on them, With the poison of crawling creatures of the dust.
25 ʻE fakaʻauha ʻaki ʻae heletā ʻituʻa, mo e ilifia ʻi loto, ʻae talavou mo e tāupoʻou fakatouʻosi, ʻae tama huhu foki mo e tangata ʻuluhinā.
Outside the sword shall bereave, and in the rooms, terror; on both young man and virgin, The nursing infant with the gray-haired man.
26 Ne u pehē, Te u fakahēʻi ʻakinautolu ki he ngaahi tuliki, te u fakaʻosi ʻae fakamanatu kiate kinautolu mei he lotolotonga ʻoe kakai:
I said, I want to cut them to pieces. I will remove the memory of them from men;
27 Ka ne taʻeʻoua ʻeku manavahē ki he ʻita ʻae fili, telia naʻa fai fakafielahi ʻe honau ngaahi fili, pea telia naʻa nau lea ʻo pehē, Ko hotau nima māʻolunga, ka ʻoku ʻikai ko Sihova kuo ne fai ʻae meʻa ni kotoa pē.’
were it not that I feared the provocation of the enemy, lest their adversaries should judge wrongly, lest they should say, 'Our hand is exalted, the LORD has not done all this.'"
28 He ko e puleʻanga masiva fakakaukau poto ʻakinautolu, pea ʻoku ʻikai ha loto faʻa ʻilo foki ʻiate kinautolu.
For they are a nation void of counsel. There is no understanding in them.
29 Taumaiā kuo nau poto, koeʻuhi kenau ʻilo ʻae meʻa ni, koeʻuhi kenau tokanga ki honau ikuʻanga!
Oh that they were wise, that they understood this, that they would consider their latter end.
30 He ʻe fēfeeʻi ha tulia ʻe he tokotaha ʻae toko afe, pea ʻe he toko ua ʻae toko mano, ʻo ka ne ʻikai fakatau ʻakinautolu ʻe honau Maka, pea tāpuni ʻakinautolu ʻe Sihova?
How could one chase a thousand, and two put ten thousand to flight, unless their Rock had sold them, and the LORD had delivered them up?
31 He ko honau maka ʻoku ʻikai hangē ko hotau Maka, ʻio, naʻa mo hotau ngaahi fili, ʻoku nau fakamoʻoni ki ai.
For their rock is not as our Rock, even our enemies themselves being judges.
32 He ko ʻenau vaine ʻoku mei he vaine ʻo Sotoma, pea ʻoku mei he ngoue ʻo Komola: ko honau ngaahi kālepi, ko e kālepi ʻoe ʻahu, ʻoku kona honau ngaahi fuhi:
For their vine is of the vine of Sodom, of the fields of Gomorrah. Their grapes are grapes of gall, Their clusters are bitter.
33 Ko ʻenau uaine ko e kona ʻoe fanga ngata lalahi, mo e kona mālohi ʻoe fanga ngata kovi ʻaupito.
Their wine is the poison of serpents, The cruel venom of asps.
34 ʻIkai kuo fokotuʻu ʻae meʻa ni ʻiate au ʻo talifaki pe, pea pulusi maʻu ia fakataha mo ʻeku ngaahi koloa?
"Isn't this laid up in store with me, sealed up among my treasures?
35 ʻOku ʻaʻaku ʻae tautea mo e totongi; ʻe hekea honau vaʻe ʻi hono kuonga: he ʻoku ofi ʻae ʻaho ʻo ʻenau tuʻutāmaki, pea ko e ngaahi meʻa ʻe tō kiate kinautolu ʻoku fakatoʻotoʻo.
Vengeance is mine, I will repay, at the time when their foot slides; for the day of their calamity is near, and the things to come hasten upon them."
36 Koeʻuhi ʻe fakamaau ʻe Sihova ʻa hono kakai, pea ʻe lolou ia koeʻuhi ko ʻene kau tamaioʻeiki, ʻi heʻene ʻafioʻi kuo ʻosi honau mālohi, pea ʻoku ʻikai ha niʻihi kuo tāpuni, pe toe.
For the LORD will judge his people, and have compassion on his servants, when he sees that their strength is gone and there is none remaining, confined or set free.
37 Pea ʻe pehē ʻe ia, ‘Kofaʻā koā honau ngaahi ʻotua, ko honau maka naʻa nau falala ki ai,
And he will say, "Where are their gods, the rock in which they took refuge?
38 ʻAia naʻe kai ʻae ngako ʻo ʻenau ngaahi feilaulau, pea inu ʻae uaine ʻo ʻenau ngaahi feilaulau inu? Tuku kenau tuʻu hake ʻo tokoni ʻakimoutolu, pea hoko ko homou kalofanga!
Who ate the fat of their sacrifices and drank the wine of their drink offering? Let them rise up and help you. Let them be your protection.
39 “‘Mou vakai ni Ko Au, ʻio Ko Au ia, pea ʻoku ʻikai ha ʻotua mo Au: ʻoku ou tāmateʻi, pea ʻoku ou fakamoʻui; ʻoku ou taaʻi, pea ʻoku ou fakamoʻui: pea ʻoku ʻikai ha tokotaha ʻoku faʻa fakamoʻui mei hoku nima.
"See now that I, even I, am he, and there is no god besides me. I kill, and I make alive. I wound, and I heal; and there is no one who can deliver out of my hand.
40 He ʻoku ou hiki hake hoku nima ki langi, pea u pehē, ‘ʻOku ou moʻui ʻo taʻengata.’
For I lift up my hand to heaven, and say, 'As I live forever,
if I sharpen my flashing sword and my hand takes hold on judgment; I will render vengeance to my adversaries, and will recompense those who hate me.
42 Te u fakakona ʻeku ngaahi ngahau ʻaki ʻae toto, pea ʻe kai kakano ʻe heʻeku heletā; ʻi he toto ʻoe kakai kuo tāmateʻi, pea ʻi he kau pōpula, mei he kamataʻanga ʻoe ngaahi tautea ki he fili.
I will make my arrows drunk with blood. My sword shall devour flesh with the blood of the slain and the captives, from the head of the leaders of the enemy.'"
43 ʻAe ngaahi puleʻanga, mou fiefia mo hono kakai: koeʻuhi ʻe totongi ʻe ia ʻae toto ʻo ʻene kau tamaioʻeiki, pea te ne ʻatu, ʻae totongi ki hono ngaahi fili, pea ʻe fai ʻaloʻofa ia ki hono fonua, pea mo hono kakai.’”
Rejoice, O heavens, with him, and let all the angels of God worship him. Rejoice, O nations, with his people, and let all the children of God strengthen themselves in him. For he will avenge the blood of his children, and he will render vengeance to his enemies, and he will recompense them that hate him, and he atones for the land of his people.
44 Pea naʻe haʻu ʻa Mōsese ʻo ne lea ʻaki kotoa pē ʻae hiva ni ʻi he telinga ʻoe kakai, ʻaia mo Siosiua ko e foha ʻo Nuni.
Moses came and spoke all the words of this song in the ears of the people, he and Joshua the son of Nun.
45 Pea naʻe fakaʻosi ʻe Mōsese ʻae lea ʻaki ʻae ngaahi lea ni kotoa pē ki ʻIsileli kotoa pē:
Moses made an end of speaking all these words to all Israel;
46 Pea pehē ʻe ia kiate kinautolu, “Fakatokangaʻi homou loto ki he ngaahi lea kotoa pē ʻaia ʻoku ou fakapapau kiate kimoutolu he ʻaho ni, ʻaia te mou fekau ki hoʻomou fānau kotoa pē ke tokanga pea fai ki he ngaahi lea kotoa pē ʻoe fono ni.
He said to them, "Set your heart to all the words which I testify to you this day, which you shall command your children to observe to do, all the words of this law.
47 He ʻoku ʻikai ko e meʻa vaʻinga ia kiate kimoutolu; ka ko hoʻomou moʻui ia: pea ko e meʻa eni te mou fakatolonga ai homou ngaahi ʻaho ʻi he fonua, ʻaia ʻoku mou ʻalu ai ki he tuʻa Sioatani ke maʻu ia.”
For it is no vain thing for you; because it is your life, and through this thing you shall prolong your days in the land, where you go over the Jordan to possess it."
48 Pea naʻe folofola ai ʻa Sihova kia Mōsese ʻi he ʻaho pe ko ia, ʻo pehē,
The LORD spoke to Moses that same day, saying,
49 “Ke ke ʻalu hake ki he moʻunga ni ko ʻApalimi, ki he moʻunga ko Nipo, ʻaia ʻoku ʻi he fonua ko Moape, ʻaia ʻoku hangatonu atu ki Seliko; pea vakai ki he fonua ko Kēnani, ʻaia ʻoku ou foaki ki he fānau ʻa ʻIsileli ko honau tofiʻa:
"Go up into this mountain of Abarim, to Mount Nebo, which is in the land of Moab, that is over against Jericho; and see the land of Canaan, which I give to the children of Israel for a possession;
50 Pea ke mate ʻi he moʻunga ʻaia ʻoku ke ʻalu hake ki ai, pea fakataha koe mo ho kakai; ʻo hangē ko e mate ʻa ho taʻokete, ko ʻElone ʻi he moʻunga ko Hoa, mo e tānaki ia ki hono kakai:
and die on the mountain where you go up, and be gathered to your people, as Aaron your brother died on Mount Hor, and was gathered to his people:
51 Ko e meʻa ʻi hoʻomo fai hala kiate au ʻi he lotolotonga ʻoe fānau ʻa ʻIsileli ʻi he vai ʻi Melipa Ketesi, ʻi he toafa ʻo Sini; ko e meʻa ʻi hoʻomo taʻefakaʻapaʻapa kiate au ʻi he lotolotonga ʻoe fānau ʻa ʻIsileli.
because you trespassed against me in the midst of the children of Israel at the waters of Meribah of Kadesh, in the wilderness of Zin; because you did not sanctify me in the midst of the children of Israel.
52 Te ke mamata ki he fonua ʻi ho ʻao; ka ʻe ʻikai te ke ʻalu ki ai ki he fonua ʻaia ʻoku ou foaki ki he fānau ʻa ʻIsileli.”
For you shall see the land before you; but you shall not go there into the land which I give the children of Israel."
