< Teutalonome 3 >

1 “Pea naʻa tau tafoki, ʻo ʻalu hake ʻi he hala ki Pesani: pea naʻe haʻu kituaʻā ʻa Oki ko e tuʻi ʻo Pesani ke tauʻi ʻakitautolu, ʻaia mo hono kakai kotoa pē, ʻi ʻEtilei.
Then we turned, and went up the way to Bashan: and Og the king of Bashan came out against us, he and all his people, to battle at Edrei.
2 Pea naʻe pehē ʻe Sihova kiate au, ‘ʻOua naʻa ke manavahē kiate ia: he te u tukuange ia, mo hono kakai kotoa pē, mo hono fonua ki ho nima; pea te ke fai kiate ia ʻo hangē ko ia naʻa ke fai kia Sihoni ko e tuʻi ʻoe kau ʻAmoli, ʻaia naʻe nofo ʻi Hesiponi.’
And YHWH said unto me, Fear him not: for I will deliver him, and all his people, and his land, into thy hand; and thou shalt do unto him as thou didst unto Sihon king of the Amorites, which dwelt at Heshbon.
3 “Pea naʻe tukuange ʻe Sihova ko hotau ʻOtua ʻa Oki ko e tuʻi ʻo Pesani ki hotau nima, mo hono kakai kotoa pē: pea naʻa tau teʻia ia ke ʻoua naʻa toe ha tokotaha kiate ia.
So YHWH our Elohim delivered into our hands Og also, the king of Bashan, and all his people: and we smote him until none was left to him remaining.
4 Pea naʻa tau maʻu ʻene ngaahi kolo ʻi he kuonga ko ia, naʻe ʻikai toe ha kolo ʻe taha naʻa tau taʻelavaʻi ʻiate kinautolu, ko e kolo ʻe onongofulu, ko e potu fonua kotoa pē ʻo ʻAkopa, ko e puleʻanga ʻo Oki ʻi Pesani.
And we took all his cities at that time, there was not a city which we took not from them, threescore cities, all the region of Argob, the kingdom of Og in Bashan.
5 Ko e ngaahi kolo ni naʻe ʻāʻi ʻaki ʻae ngaahi ʻā māʻolunga, mo e ngaahi matapā, mo e ngaahi songo; kaeʻumaʻā ʻae ngaahi kolo taʻeʻā naʻe lahi ʻaupito.
All these cities were fenced with high walls, gates, and bars; beside unwalled towns a great many.
6 Pea naʻa tau fakaʻauha ʻaupito ʻakinautolu, ʻo hangē ko ia naʻa tau fai kia Sihoni ko e tuʻi ʻo Hesiponi, ʻo fakaʻauha ʻae kakai tangata, mo e fefine, mo e fānau, ʻoe kolo kotoa pē.
And we utterly destroyed them, as we did unto Sihon king of Heshbon, utterly destroying the men, women, and children, of every city.
7 Ka ko e fanga manu kotoa pē, mo e vete ʻoe ngaahi kolo, naʻa tau toʻo ko e koloa maʻatautolu.
But all the cattle, and the spoil of the cities, we took for a prey to ourselves.
8 “Pea naʻa tau maʻu ʻi he kuonga ko ia mei he nima ʻoe ongo tuli ʻoe kakai ʻAmoli, ʻae ngaahi fonua ʻoku ʻi he potu mai ʻo Sioatani, mei he vaitafe ʻo ʻAlanoni ʻo aʻu atu ki he moʻunga ko Heamoni;
And we took at that time out of the hand of the two kings of the Amorites the land that was on this side Jordan, from the river of Arnon unto mount Hermon;
9 (ʻAe Heamoni ko ia ʻoku ui ʻe he kau Saitoni ko Silioni; pea ʻoku ui ia ʻe he kakai ʻAmoli ko Sina; )
(Which Hermon the Sidonians call Sirion; and the Amorites call it Shenir; )
10 Ko e ngaahi kolo kotoa pē ʻoe toafa, mo Kiliati kotoa pē, mo Pesani kotoa pē, ʻo aʻu ki Salika mo ʻEtilei, ko e ngaahi kolo ʻoe puleʻanga ʻo Oki ko e tuʻi ʻo Pesani.”
All the cities of the plain, and all Gilead, and all Bashan, unto Salchah and Edrei, cities of the kingdom of Og in Bashan.
11 He naʻe toe pe ʻa Oki ko e tuʻi ʻo Pesani ʻi he toenga kakai lalahi; vakai, ko hono mohenga ko e mohenga ukamea; ʻikai ʻoku ʻi Lapate ia ʻoe fānau ʻa ʻAmoni? Ko e hanga ʻe hongofulu ma valu ʻa hono lōloa, pea ko hono māukupu ko e hanga ʻe valu, ʻo fakatatau ki he hanga ʻoe tangata.
For only Og king of Bashan remained of the remnant of giants; behold his bedstead was a bedstead of iron; is it not in Rabbath of the children of Ammon? nine cubits was the length thereof, and four cubits the breadth of it, after the cubit of a man.
12 “Pea ko e fonua ni, naʻa tau maʻu ʻi he kuonga ko ia, mei ʻAloeli ʻaia ʻoku ofi ki he vaitafe ko ʻAlanoni, mo hono vaeua mālieʻanga ʻoe moʻunga ko Kiliati, mo hono ngaahi kolo ʻo ia, ne u ʻatu ki he faʻahinga ʻo Lupeni, mo e faʻahinga ʻo Kata.
And this land, which we possessed at that time, from Aroer, which is by the river Arnon, and half mount Gilead, and the cities thereof, gave I unto the Reubenites and to the Gadites.
13 Pea ko hono toe ʻo Kiliati, mo Pesani kotoa pē, ʻaia ko e puleʻanga ʻo Oki, naʻaku ʻatu ki hono vaeua ʻoe faʻahinga ʻo Manase; ʻae ngaahi fonua kotoa pē ʻo ʻAkopa, mo Pesani kotoa pē, ʻaia naʻe ui ko e fonua ʻoe kakai lalahi.”
And the rest of Gilead, and all Bashan, being the kingdom of Og, gave I unto the half tribe of Manasseh; all the region of Argob, with all Bashan, which was called the land of giants.
14 Ko Saili ko e foha ʻo Manase naʻa ne maʻu ʻae fonua kotoa pē ʻo ʻAkopa ʻo aʻu atu ki he potu
Jair the son of Manasseh took all the country of Argob unto the coasts of Geshuri and Maachathi; and called them after his own name, Bashanhavothjair, unto this day.
15 ʻo Kesuli mo Meʻekati; pea naʻa ne ui ia ki hono hingoa ʻoʻona, ko Peasini-hevatisaili ʻo aʻu ki he ʻaho ni. Pea ne u ʻatu ʻa Kiliati kia Mekili.
And I gave Gilead unto Machir.
16 Pea ne u ʻatu ki he faʻahinga ʻo Lupeni mo e faʻahinga ʻo Kata mei Kiliati ʻo aʻu atu ki he vaitafe ko ʻAlanoni hono vaeua ʻoe vahaʻa moʻunga, mo hono mata fonua ʻo aʻu atu ki he vaitafe ko Sapoki, ʻaia ʻoku ʻi he veʻe fonua ʻoe fānau ʻa ʻAmoni:
And unto the Reubenites and unto the Gadites I gave from Gilead even unto the river Arnon half the valley, and the border even unto the river Jabbok, which is the border of the children of Ammon;
17 Ko e toafa foki, mo Sioatani, mo hono ngataʻanga ʻo ia, mei Kinileti ʻo aʻu atu ki he tahi ʻoe toafa, ʻio ki he tahi kona, ʻi lalo ʻi ʻAsitotipisika ʻi he potu hahake.”
The plain also, and Jordan, and the coast thereof, from Chinnereth even unto the sea of the plain, even the salt sea, under Ashdothpisgah eastward.
18 “Pea ne u fekau kiate kimoutolu ʻi he kuonga ko ia, ʻo pehē, ‘Ko Sihova ko homou ʻOtua kuo ne foaki kiate kimoutolu ʻae fonua ni ke mou maʻu: te mou ʻalu atu mo e mahafu ʻi he ʻao ʻo homou kāinga ko e fānau ʻa ʻIsileli, ʻakimoutolu kotoa pē ʻoku faʻa fai ʻae tau.
And I commanded you at that time, saying, YHWH your Elohim hath given you this land to possess it: ye shall pass over armed before your brethren the children of Israel, all that are meet for the war.
19 Ka ko homou ngaahi uaifi, mo hoʻomou fānau siʻi, mo hoʻomou fanga manu, (he ʻoku ou ʻilo ʻoku lahi hoʻomou fanga manu, ) tenau nofo ʻi hoʻomou ngaahi kolo ʻaia kuo u foaki kiate kimoutolu;
But your wives, and your little ones, and your cattle, (for I know that ye have much cattle, ) shall abide in your cities which I have given you;
20 Ke ʻoua ke foaki ʻe Sihova ʻae mālōlō ki homou kāinga, ʻo hangē ko kimoutolu, pea ke ʻoua ke maʻu ʻekinautolu foki ʻae fonua ko ia kuo foaki ʻe Sihova ko homou ʻOtua kiate kinautolu ʻi he kauvai ʻe taha ʻo Sioatani: pea te mou toki liu mai ʻae tangata kotoa pē ki hono tofiʻa, ʻaia kuo u tuku kiate kimoutolu.’
Until YHWH have given rest unto your brethren, as well as unto you, and until they also possess the land which YHWH your Elohim hath given them beyond Jordan: and then shall ye return every man unto his possession, which I have given you.
21 “Pea ne u fekauʻi ʻa Siosiua ʻi he kuonga ko ia, ʻo pehē, ‘Kuo mamata ʻe ho mata ki he meʻa kotoa pē kuo fai ʻe Sihova ko homou ʻOtua ki he ongo tuʻi ni: ʻe fai pehē pe ʻe Sihova ki he ngaahi puleʻanga kotoa pē ʻoku ke ʻalu ki ai.
And I commanded Joshua at that time, saying, Thine eyes have seen all that YHWH your Elohim hath done unto these two kings: so shall YHWH do unto all the kingdoms whither thou passest.
22 ‌ʻOua naʻa mou manavahē kiate kinautolu: he koeʻuhi ʻe tau ʻa Sihova ko homou ʻOtua maʻamoutolu.’
Ye shall not fear them: for YHWH your Elohim he shall fight for you.
23 “Pea ne u fakakolekole kia Sihova ʻi he kuonga ko ia, ʻo pehē,
And I besought YHWH at that time, saying,
24 ‘ʻE Sihova ko e ʻOtua, kuo ke kamata fakahā ki hoʻo tamaioʻeiki ho lahi, mo ho nima mālohi; he ko hai ha ʻOtua ʻi langi pe ʻi māmani, ʻoku faʻa fai ʻo fakatatau ki hoʻo ngaahi ngāue, pea tatau mo ho māfimafi?
O Sovereign YHWH, thou hast begun to shew thy servant thy greatness, and thy mighty hand: for what el is there in heaven or in earth, that can do according to thy works, and according to thy might?
25 ‌ʻOku ou kole kiate koe, tuku au ke u ʻalu atu, ʻo mamata ki he fonua lelei ʻaia ʻoku ʻituʻa Sioatani, ʻae moʻunga matamatalelei ko ia, mo Lepanoni.’
I pray thee, let me go over, and see the good land that is beyond Jordan, that goodly mountain, and Lebanon.
26 Ka naʻe houhau ʻa Sihova kiate au koeʻuhi ko kimoutolu, pea naʻe ʻikai tokanga kiate au: pea naʻe pehē mai ʻe Sihova kiate au, ‘Ke ke fiemālie pe koe; pea ʻoua naʻa ke toe lea kiate au ʻi he meʻa ni.
But YHWH was wroth with me for your sakes, and would not hear me: and YHWH said unto me, Let it suffice thee; speak no more unto me of this matter.
27 ‌ʻAlu hake koe ki he tumutumu ʻo Pisika, pea hanga atu ho mata ki lulunga, mo tokelau, mo tonga, mo hihifo, pea vakai ʻaki ia ho mata: koeʻuhi ʻe ʻikai te ke laka ki he kauvai ʻe taha ʻo Sioatani.
Get thee up into the top of Pisgah, and lift up thine eyes westward, and northward, and southward, and eastward, and behold it with thine eyes: for thou shalt not go over this Jordan.
28 Ka ke fekauʻi ʻa Siosiua, mo tokoni lelei kiate ia, mo fakamālohi ia: koeʻuhi ʻe muʻomuʻa ia ʻi he kakai ni, pea te ne fakahoko atu ʻakinautolu kenau maʻu ʻae fonua ʻaia te ke mamata ki ai.’
But charge Joshua, and encourage him, and strengthen him: for he shall go over before this people, and he shall cause them to inherit the land which thou shalt see.
29 “Pea naʻa tau nofo ai ʻi he potu māʻulalo ʻoku hangatonu ki Pete Peoli.”
So we abode in the valley over against Bethpeor.
