ʻAmosi 6
1 Malaʻia kiate kinautolu ʻoku fakafiemālie kovi ʻi Saione, pea ʻoku falala ki he moʻunga ʻo Samēlia, ʻoku ui ko e tuʻu ki muʻa ʻi he ngaahi puleʻanga, ʻaia naʻe haʻu ki ai ʻae fale ʻo ʻIsileli!
Alas for the careless in Zion, and for them who put confidence in the mountain of Samaria, —the distinguished among the first group of nations, to whom came in the house of Israel.
2 Laka koe ki Kaline, pea vakai: pea ʻalu mei ai ki Hamati lahi: pea toki ʻalu hifo ki Kati ʻoe kakai Filisitia: ʻoku nau lelei lahi koā ʻi he ngaahi puleʻanga ni? Pe ʻoku lahi hake honau mata fonua, ʻi homou mata fonua?
Pass ye over to Calneh, and see, and go on from thence to Hamath the great, —and go down to Gath of the Philistines, are they better than these kingdoms? or their boundary larger than your boundary?
3 Ko kimoutolu ʻoku tuku mamaʻo atu ʻae ʻaho kovi, pea ʻoku pule ke ʻunuʻunu mai ʻae nofoʻa ʻoe fakamālohi;
Ye who are putting far away the day of calamity, —but bringing near the abode of violence:
4 Pea ʻoku tokoto ʻi he ngaahi mohenga lei, pea ʻoku fakatokoto ʻekinautolu ʻi he ngaahi tokotoʻanga, pea ʻoku kai ʻae fanga lami mei he fanga manu, pea mo e ʻuhiki pulu mei he fale manu;
Who are lying on beds of ivory, and sprawling on their couch of pleasure, —and eating the well-fed of the flock, and the fatted calves out of the midst of the stalls:
5 Pea ʻoku hivehiva ki he leʻo ʻoe meʻa faiva, pea ʻoku filioʻi ke ngaohi maʻanautolu ʻae ngaahi meʻa faiva ke hiva ʻaki, hangē ko Tevita;
Who are bawling at the bidding of the harp, —like David, have they invented for themselves instruments of song:
6 Pea ʻoku inu uaine mei he ngaahi ipu, pea ʻoku tākai ʻakinautolu ʻaki ʻae lolo mahuʻinga: ka ʻoku ʻikai te nau mamahi ʻi he tuʻutāmaki ʻa Siosefa.
Who are quaffing bowls of wine, and, with the best of oils, anointing themselves, —and are not afflicted for the injury of Joseph: —
7 Ko ia te nau ʻalu ke pōpula mo e kakai ʻoku tomuʻa ʻalu ki he pōpula, pea ko e kātoanga kai ʻanautolu naʻe fakatokoto ʻe fetuku.
Therefore, at once, shall they go into exile among the first of the exiles, —so shall be disturbed the revelry of sprawlers.
8 “Kuo fuakava ʻa Sihova ʻi heʻene ʻafio,” ʻoku pehē ʻe Sihova, ko e ʻOtua ʻoe ngaahi kautau, “ʻoku ou fehiʻa ki he lelei ʻo Sēkope, pea fākaliliʻa ki hono ngaahi fale fakaʻeiki; ko ia te u tukuange ʻae kolo mo ia kotoa pē ʻoku ʻi ai.
Sworn hath the Lord, Yahweh, by his own life, Declareth Yahweh, God of hosts, abhorring am I, the grandeur of Jacob, and, his palaces, I hate, —therefore will I cast off the city and the fulness thereof.
9 Pea ʻe pehē, ka ai ha kau tangata ʻe toko hongofulu kuo tuku ʻi he fale ʻe taha, te nau mate.
And it shall come to pass, though there be left remaining ten men in one house, yet shall they die;
10 “ʻE toʻo ʻae tangata ʻe heʻene tuʻasina, pea mo ia ne tutu ia, ke ʻomi ʻae ngaahi hui mei he fale, pea te ne pehē kiate ia ʻoku ʻi he veʻe fale, ‘ʻOku ai ha taha mo koe?’ Pea te ne pehē, ‘ʻIkai.’ Pea te ne toki pehē, ‘ʻOua te ke lea: he ʻoku tapu ke takua ʻae huafa ʻo Sihova.’
And a man’s near of kin, even he who is about to burn the bones, shall carry him out of the house, when he shall say to him that is in the hinder parts of the house—Are there yet any with thee? and he shall say—No one. Then shall he say—Hush! for we must not invoke the name of Yahweh.
11 “Koeʻuhi, vakai, ʻoku fekau ʻe Sihova, pea te ne taaʻi ʻae fale lahi ke avaava, pea mo e fale siʻi ke mafahifahi.
For lo! Yahweh, is giving command, and will smite the great house into ruins, —and the little house with clefts.
12 ʻE lele koā ʻae fanga hoosi ʻi he funga maka? ʻE ai ha taha te ne toho huo ai ʻaki ʻae fanga pulu? He kuo mou liliu ʻae fakamaau ko e ʻahu, pea ko e fua ʻoe angatonu ko e hemiloki:
Shall horses run upon crag? or will a man plough [there] with oxen? For ye have turned to poison the sentence of justice, and the fruit of righteousness, to wormwood:
13 ʻAkimoutolu ʻoku fiefia ʻi he meʻa noa pe, pea lea pehē, ‘ʻIkai kuo tau maʻu ʻae nifo, ʻi hotau mālohi pe?’”
Who rejoice in a thing of nought, —who say, Have we not by our own strength, taken to ourselves horns?
14 Ka ʻoku pehē ʻe Sihova, ko e ʻOtua ʻoe ngaahi kautau, “Vakai; te u fokotuʻu kiate kimoutolu ha puleʻanga, ʻe fale ʻo ʻIsileli; pea te nau fakamamahi ʻakimoutolu mei he hūʻanga ki Hamati ʻo aʻu ki he vaitafe ʻoe toafa.”
For behold me! raising up against you, O house of Israel, Declareth Yahweh, the God of hosts—a nation! And they shall crush you, from the entering in of Hamath, unto the torrent-bed of the waste plain.
