< 2 Samuela 5 >
Then came all the tribes of Israel to David to Hebron, and spoke, saying, Behold, we [are] thy bone and thy flesh.
2 Pea ʻi he kuonga kuo hili foki, ʻaia naʻe tuʻi ai ʻa Saula kiate kimautolu, ko koe ia naʻa ke tataki atu mo toe ʻomi ʻa ʻIsileli; pea naʻe pehē ʻe Sihova kiate koe, Te ke fafanga ʻa hoku kakai ko ʻIsileli, pea te ke pule koe ki ʻIsileli.
Also in time past, when Saul was king over us, thou wast he that leddest out and broughtest in Israel: and the LORD said to thee, Thou shalt feed my people Israel, and thou shalt be a captain over Israel.
3 Ko ia naʻe haʻu ai ʻae kau mātuʻa kotoa pē ʻo ʻIsileli ki he tuʻi ʻi Hepeloni; pea naʻe fai ʻe Tevita ʻae fuakava mo kinautolu ʻi Hepeloni ʻi he ʻao ʻo Sihova; pea naʻa nau pani ʻa Tevita ʻaki ʻae lolo ke ne tuʻi ʻi ʻIsileli.
So all the elders of Israel came to the king to Hebron; and king David made a league with them in Hebron before the LORD: and they anointed David king over Israel.
4 Naʻe tolungofulu taʻu ʻa Tevita ʻi heʻene kamata pule, pea naʻa ne pule ʻi he taʻu ʻe fāngofulu.
David [was] thirty years old when he began to reign, [and] he reigned forty years.
5 Naʻa ne pule ʻi Hepeloni ki Siuta ʻi he taʻu ʻe fitu mo e māhina ʻe ono: pea naʻa ne pule ki ʻIsileli kotoa pea mo Siuta, ʻi Selūsalema ʻi he taʻu ʻe tolungofulu ma tolu.
In Hebron he reigned over Judah seven years and six months: and in Jerusalem he reigned thirty and three years over all Israel and Judah.
6 Pea naʻe ʻalu ʻae tuʻi mo ʻene kau tangata ki Selūsalema ki he kakai Sepusi, ko e kakai ʻoe fonua: ʻakinautolu naʻe lea ʻo pehē kia Tevita, “Kapau ʻe ʻikai te ke ʻave ʻae kui mo e ketu, ʻe ʻikai siʻi te ke hū mai ki heni: he naʻa nau pehē, ʻE ʻikai faʻa haʻu ʻa Tevita ki heni.”
And the king and his men went to Jerusalem to the Jebusites, the inhabitants of the land: who spoke to David, saying, Except thou shalt take away the blind and the lame, thou shalt not come in hither: thinking, David cannot come in hither.
7 Ka neongo ia, naʻe lavaʻi ʻe Tevita ʻae kolo mālohi ko Saione; pea ko ia “ko e Kolo ʻo Tevita.”
Nevertheless, David took the strong hold of Zion: the same [is] the city of David.
8 Pea naʻe pehē ʻe Tevita ʻi he ʻaho ko ia, “ʻIlonga ia ʻe hoko hake ki he puke ʻoe kolo, ʻo ne tali ʻae kau Sepusi, pea mo e ketu mo e kui ʻaia ʻoku fehiʻa ki ai ʻae laumālie ʻo Tevita, [ʻe hoko ia ko e tuʻukimuʻa mo e ʻeiki pule],” ko e meʻa ʻi heʻenau pehē, “ʻE ʻikai hoko ki fale ʻae kui mo e ketu.”
And David said on that day, Whoever getteth up to the gutter, and smiteth the Jebusites, and the lame and the blind, [that are] hated by David's soul, [he shall be chief and captain]: Wherefore they said, The blind and the lame shall not come into the house.
So David dwelt in the fort, and called it the city of David. And David built around from Millo and inward.
10 Pea naʻe ʻaluʻalu ai pe ʻa Tevita, ʻo ne fakaʻaʻau ʻo lahi, pea naʻe kau mo ia ʻa Sihova ko e ʻOtua ʻoe ngaahi kautau.
And David went on, and grew great, and the LORD God of hosts [was] with him.
11 Pea naʻe fekau atu ʻe Helami ko e tuʻi ʻo Taia ʻae kau talafekau kia Tevita, mo e ngaahi ʻakau ko e sita, mo e kau tufunga ʻakau, mo e kau tufunga maka pea naʻa nau langa ha fale kia Tevita.
And Hiram king of Tyre sent messengers to David, and cedar-trees, and carpenters, and masons: and they built David a house.
12 Pea naʻe ʻilo ʻe Tevita kuo fakapapau ia ʻe Sihova ko e tuʻi ki ʻIsileli, pea kuo ne fakamāʻolunga ʻa hono puleʻanga koeʻuhi ko hono kakai ko ʻIsileli.
And David perceived that the LORD had established him king over Israel, and that he had exalted his kingdom for his people Israel's sake.
13 Pea naʻe ʻomi ʻo fakatokolahi kiate ia ʻe Tevita ʻae sinifu mo e ngaahi uaifi mei Selūsalema, ʻi he hili ʻa ʻene haʻu mei Hepeloni: pea naʻe toe fānau kia Tevita ʻae ngaahi foha mo e ngaahi ʻofefine.
And David took [him] more concubines and wives out of Jerusalem, after he had come from Hebron: and there were yet sons and daughters born to David.
14 Pea ko e hingoa eni ʻokinautolu naʻe fānau kiate ia ʻi Selūsalema; ko Samua, mo Sopapi mo Natani, pea mo Solomone.
And these [are] the names of those that were born to him in Jerusalem; Shammuah, and Shobab, and Nathan, and Solomon,
15 Ko Ipia foki, mo ʻIlisua, mo Nefeki, mo Safia,
Ibhar also, and Elishua, and Nepheg, and Japhia,
16 Mo ʻIlisama, mo Iliata, pea mo Ilifileti.
And Elishama, and Eliada, and Eliphalet.
17 Kae ʻi he fanongo ʻe he kakai Filisitia kuo fakanofo ʻa Tevita ke tuʻi ʻi ʻIsileli, naʻe haʻu ʻae kakai Filisitia kotoa pē ke kumi kia Tevita; pea naʻe ongoʻi ia ʻe Tevita, ʻo ne ʻalu hifo ki he kolo mālohi.
But when the Philistines heard that they had anointed David king over Israel, all the Philistines came up to seek David; and David heard [of it], and went down to the hold.
18 Naʻe haʻu foki ʻae kakai Filisitia ʻonau fakamafola ʻakinautolu ʻi he teleʻa ʻo Lefeimi.
The Philistines also came and spread themselves in the valley of Rephaim.
And David inquired of the LORD, saying, Shall I go up to the Philistines? wilt thou deliver them into my hand? And the LORD said to David, Go up: for I will doubtless deliver the Philistines into thy hand.
20 Pea naʻe haʻu ʻa Tevita ki Peali-Pilasimi pea naʻe taaʻi ʻakinautolu ʻi ai ʻe Tevita, mo ne pehē, “Kuo meʻa atu ʻa Sihova ki hoku ngaahi fili ʻi hoku ʻao, ʻo hangē ko e hā atu ha ngaahi vai.” Ko ia naʻe ui ai ʻae hingoa ʻoe potu ko ia ko Peali-Pilasimi.
And David came to Baal-perazim, and David smote them there, and said, The LORD hath broken forth upon my enemies before me, as the breach of waters. Therefore he called the name of that place Baal-perazim.
21 Pea naʻa nau tuku honau ngaahi tamapua ʻi ai, pea naʻe tutu ia ʻe Tevita pea mo hono kau tangata.
And there they left their images, and David and his men burned them.
22 Pea naʻe toe haʻu foki ʻae kakai Filisitia, ʻonau fakamafola kinautolu ʻi he teleʻa ʻo Lefeimi.
And the Philistines came yet again, and spread themselves in the valley of Rephaim.
23 Pea ʻi heʻene fehuʻi ʻe Tevita kia Sihova, naʻa ne fakahā mai, “ʻE ʻikai te ke ʻalu hake; kae ʻalu fakatakamilo ki mui ʻiate kinautolu, pea ke hoko mai kiate kinautolu ʻo feʻunga mo e ngaahi ʻakau ko e molipeli.
And when David inquired of the LORD, he said, Thou shalt not go up: [but] fetch a compass behind them, and come upon them over against the mulberry-trees.
24 Pea tuku ke pehē, ʻoka ke ka fanongo ki he mumuhu ʻi he ʻuluʻi ʻakau molipeli, te ke toki ngaue koe: koeʻuhi ʻe toki muʻomuʻa atu ʻa Sihova ʻiate koe, ke teʻia ʻae kautau ʻoe kakai Filisitia.”
And let it be, when thou hearest the sound of a going in the tops of the mulberry-trees, that then thou shalt bestir thyself: for then shall the LORD go out before thee, to smite the host of the Philistines.
25 Pea naʻe fai ia ʻe Tevita ʻo hangē ko ia naʻe fekau ʻe Sihova kiate ia; pea naʻe taaʻi ʻae kakai Filisitia mei Kepa ʻo aʻu atu ʻaupito ki Kesa.
And David did so as the LORD had commanded him; and smote the Philistines from Geba until thou comest to Gazer.
