< 2 Pita 3 >

1 ‌ʻE Kāinga, ʻoku ou tohi eni ʻa hono ua ʻoe tohi ni kiate kimoutolu, ʻaia ʻoku ou fai ʻi ai ke langaki hake homou loto maʻa ki he fakamanatu:
This, a second letter, beloved, I already write to you, in [both] which I stir up, in the way of putting you in remembrance, your pure mind,
2 Koeʻuhi ke mou manatu ki he ngaahi lea naʻe lea ʻaki ʻi muʻa ʻe he kau palōfita māʻoniʻoni, pea mo e fekau ʻamautolu ko e kau ʻaposetolo ʻoe ʻEiki mo e Fakamoʻui:
to be mindful of the words spoken before by the holy prophets, and of the commandment of the Lord and Saviour by your apostles;
3 ‌ʻO tomuʻa ʻilo eni, ʻe haʻu ʻae kau manuki ʻi he ngaahi ʻaho ki mui, ʻo ʻaʻeva ʻi heʻenau ngaahi holi kovi ʻanautolu,
knowing this first, that there shall come at [the] close of the days mockers with mocking, walking according to their own lusts,
4 ‌ʻO nau pehē, “Kofaʻā koā ʻae talaʻofa ki heʻene haʻu? He kuo talu ʻae mohe ʻae ngaahi tamai, mo e pehē ai pe ʻae meʻa kotoa pē ʻo hangē pe ʻi hono ʻuluaki fakatupu.”
and saying, Where is the promise of his coming? for from the time the fathers fell asleep all things remain thus from [the] beginning of [the] creation.
5 He ko honau loto ke nau vale ʻi he meʻa ni, ko e meʻa ʻi he folofola ʻae ʻOtua, naʻe ʻi muʻa ʻae ngaahi langi, pea tuʻu mei he vai pea ʻi he vai ʻa māmani:
For this is hidden from them through their own wilfulness, that heavens were of old, and an earth, having its subsistence out of water and in water, by the word of God,
6 ‌ʻAia naʻe lōfia ai ʻae maama ko ia ʻaki ʻae vai, pea ʻauha ia:
through which [waters] the then world, deluged with water, perished.
7 Ka ko e ngaahi langi mo e fonua ʻoku tuʻu ni, kuo fokotuʻu ia ʻaki ʻa [ʻene ]folofola pe ko ia, ʻo fakatolonga ki he afi ʻi he ʻaho fakamaau mo e fakaʻauha ʻoe kakai angahala.
But the present heavens and the earth by his word are laid up in store, kept for fire unto a day of judgment and destruction of ungodly men.
8 Ka ko eni, ʻe kāinga, ke ʻoua te mou taʻeʻilo ki he meʻa ni ʻe taha, koeʻuhi ko e ʻaho ʻe taha ʻoku tatau ki he ʻEiki mo e taʻu ʻe afe, pea ko e taʻu ʻe afe ʻoku tatau mo e ʻaho pe taha.
But let not this one thing be hidden from you, beloved, that one day with [the] Lord [is] as a thousand years, and a thousand years as one day.
9 ‌ʻOku ʻikai fakatuotuai ʻe he ʻEiki ki heʻene talaʻofa, ʻo hangē ko e lau ʻae niʻihi ko e tuotuai; ka ʻoku kātaki fuoloa kiate kitautolu, ʻo ʻikai finangalo ke ʻauha ha tokotaha, ka koeʻuhi ke hoko ʻo fakatomala kotoa pē.
[The] Lord does not delay his promise, as some account of delay, but is longsuffering towards you, not willing that any should perish, but that all should come to repentance.
10 Ka ʻe hoko ʻae ʻaho ʻoe ʻEiki ʻo hangē ha kaihaʻa ʻi he pō; ʻaia ʻe mole ai ʻae ngaahi langi ʻi he longoaʻa lahi, pea ʻe vela ʻo ʻauha ʻae ngaahi tefitoʻi meʻa, pea ko e fonua foki mo e ngaahi ngāue ʻoku ʻi ai ʻe vela ʻo ʻosi ia.
But the day of [the] Lord will come as a thief, in which the heavens will pass away with a rushing noise, and [the] elements, burning with heat, shall be dissolved, and [the] earth and the works in it shall be burnt up.
11 Ko ia [ʻi heʻene pau pe ]ke ʻauha ʻae ngaahi meʻa ni kotoa pē, ko e hā ʻae anga ʻoku taau mo kimoutolu ʻi he ʻulungāanga māʻoniʻoni mo e angafakaʻotua;
All these things then being to be dissolved, what ought ye to be in holy conversation and godliness,
12 ‌ʻO ʻamanaki mo holi atu ki he hoko mai ʻoe ʻaho ʻoe ʻOtua, ʻaia ʻe vela ʻo ʻauha ai ʻae ngaahi langi, pea ʻe vai ʻi he vela lahi ʻae ngaahi tefitoʻi meʻa?
waiting for and hastening the coming of the day of God, by reason of which [the] heavens, being on fire, shall be dissolved, and [the] elements, burning with heat, shall melt?
13 Ka ʻoku tau ʻamanaki ki he ngaahi langi foʻou mo e fonua foʻou, ʻaia ʻoku nofo ai ʻae māʻoniʻoni, ʻo fakatatau ki heʻene talaʻofa.
But, according to his promise, we wait for new heavens and a new earth, wherein dwells righteousness.
14 Ko ia, ʻe kāinga, ko e meʻa ʻi hoʻomou ʻamanaki ki he ngaahi meʻa pehē, mou hangahanga fai pe koeʻuhi ke ʻilo ʻe ia ʻakimoutolu ʻoku mou melino taʻehaʻila, mo taʻehalaia.
Wherefore, beloved, as ye wait for these things, be diligent to be found of him in peace, without spot and blameless;
15 Pea lau ʻae kātaki fuoloa ʻa hotau ʻEiki ko e fakamoʻui; ʻo hangē ko e tohi kiate kimoutolu foki ʻe hotau kāinga ʻofeina ko Paula, ʻo fakatatau ki he poto kuo foaki kiate ia;
and account the longsuffering of our Lord [to be] salvation; according as our beloved brother Paul also has written to you according to the wisdom given to him,
16 Pea ʻoku pehē foki ʻa ʻene lea ai ki he ngaahi meʻa ni ʻi heʻene tohi kotoa pē; ʻaia ʻoku ʻi ai ʻae meʻa niʻihi ʻoku ʻilongataʻa, ʻaia ʻoku fai ʻe he kau taʻepoto mo lotolotoua ke fakaʻuhinga kehe, ʻo hangē foki ko e ngaahi tohi kehe, ka nau malaʻia ai.
as also in all [his] epistles, speaking in them of these things; among which some things are hard to be understood, which the untaught and ill-established wrest, as also the other scriptures, to their own destruction.
17 Ko ia, ʻe kāinga, ko e meʻa ʻi hoʻomou sinaki ʻilo, vakai telia naʻa takiekina foki ʻakimoutolu ʻe he hē ʻoe kakai fai kovi, pea mou hinga mei hoʻomou tuʻumaʻu ʻamoutolu.
Ye therefore, beloved, knowing [these] things before, take care lest, being led away along with the error of the wicked, ye should fall from your own stedfastness:
18 Kae tupulekina ʻi he ʻofa, pea mo e ʻilo ki hotau ʻEiki mo e Fakamoʻui ko Sisu Kalaisi. Ke ʻiate ia ni ʻae ongoongolelei pea taʻengata. ʻEmeni. (aiōn g165)
but grow in grace, and in [the] knowledge of our Lord and Saviour Jesus Christ. To him [be] glory both now and to [the] day of eternity. Amen. (aiōn g165)
