< 2 Pita 1 >

1 Ko au Saimone Pita, ko e tamaioʻeiki mo e ʻaposetolo ʻo Sisu Kalaisi, kiate kinautolu kuo lavaʻi mo kimautolu ʻae tui mahuʻinga ko ia ʻi he māʻoniʻoni ʻo hotau ʻOtua mo e Fakamoʻui ko Sisu Kalaisi:
Simon Peter, a servant and an apostle of Jesus Christ, to them that have obtained like precious faith with us through the righteousness of God and our Saviour Jesus Christ:
2 Ke tupulekina kiate kimoutolu ʻae ʻaloʻofa mo e monūʻia ʻi he ʻilo ʻoe ʻOtua, pea mo Sisu ko hotau ʻEiki,
Grace and peace be multiplied unto you through the knowledge of God, and of Jesus our Lord,
3 ‌ʻO fakatatau ki he foaki kiate kitautolu ʻe heʻene mālohi fakaʻotua ʻae ngaahi meʻa kotoa pē ki he moʻui mo e angafakaʻotua, ʻi he ʻilo kiate ia kuo ne uiuiʻi ʻakitautolu ki he hakeʻaki mo e māʻoniʻoni:
According as his divine power has given unto us all things that pertain unto life and godliness, through the knowledge of him that has called us to glory and virtue:
4 ‌ʻAia kuo foaki ai kiate kitautolu ʻae ngaahi talaʻofa ʻoku lahi ʻaupito mo mahuʻinga: koeʻuhi ke mou kau ai ʻi he anga ʻae ʻOtua, ʻi hoʻomou hao mei he kovi ʻoku ʻi māmani ʻi he holi kovi.
Whereby are given unto us exceeding great and precious promises: that by these all of you might be partakers of the divine nature, having escaped the corruption that is in the world through lust.
5 Pea koeʻuhi ko ia, ke mou mātuʻaki fai lahi, ʻo taki hake hoʻomou tui ki he lototoʻa; pea ki he lototoʻa ʻae ʻilo;
And beside this, giving all diligence, add to your faith virtue; and to virtue knowledge;
6 Pea ki he ʻilo ʻae faʻa taʻofi; pea ki he faʻa taʻofi ʻae faʻa kātaki; pea ki he faʻa kātaki ʻae angafakaʻotua;
And to knowledge wilful restrain; and to wilful restrain patience; and to patience godliness;
7 Pea ki he angafakaʻotua ʻae angalelei fakakāinga; pea ki he angalelei fakakāinga ʻae ʻofa.
And to godliness brotherly kindness; and to brotherly kindness love. (agape)
8 He kapau ʻoku nofoʻia ʻakimoutolu ʻe he ngaahi meʻa ni, mo tupulekina, ʻe ʻikai ai te mou fakapikopiko pe taʻefua ʻi he ʻilo ki hotau ʻEiki ko Sisu Kalaisi.
For if these things be in you, and abound, they make you that all of you shall neither be barren nor unfruitful in the knowledge of our Lord Jesus Christ.
9 Ka ko ia ʻoku masiva ʻi he ngaahi meʻa ni ʻoku kui ia, pea ʻoku ʻikai faʻa mamata mamaʻo atu, pea kuo ngalo ʻiate ia hono fakamaʻa mei heʻene muʻaki angahala.
But he that lacks these things is blind, and cannot see far off, and has forgotten that he was purged from his old sins.
10 Ko ia, ʻe kāinga, ke ʻāsili ai hoʻomou fai feinga ke fakatuʻumaʻu homou ui mo homou fili: he kapau te mou fai ʻae ngaahi meʻa ni, ʻe ʻikai ʻaupito te mou hinga:
Wherefore the rather, brethren, give diligence to make your calling and election sure: for if all of you do these things, all of you shall never fall:
11 He ko ia ʻe tuku ai kiate kimoutolu ʻo lahi ʻaupito ʻae hūʻanga ki he puleʻanga taʻengata ʻo hotau ʻEiki mo e Fakamoʻui ko Sisu Kalaisi. (aiōnios g166)
For so an entrance shall be ministered unto you abundantly into the everlasting kingdom of our Lord and Saviour Jesus Christ. (aiōnios g166)
12 Ko ia ʻe ʻikai tuku ʻeku fakamanatuʻi maʻuaipē ʻakimoutolu ʻi he ngaahi meʻa ni, ka ʻoku mou ʻiloʻi ia, pea ʻoku mou tuʻumaʻu ʻi he moʻoni ni.
Wherefore I will not be negligent to put you always in remembrance of these things, though all of you know them, and be established in the present truth.
13 Ka ʻoku ou pehē, ʻoku totonu, ʻi heʻeku kei ʻi he fale fehikitaki ni, ke langaki mo fakamanatuʻi ʻakimoutolu;
Yea, I think it meet, as long as I am in this tabernacle, to stir you up by putting you in remembrance;
14 ‌ʻI heʻeku ʻilo, ʻe toe siʻi pea te u tukuange hoku fale fehikitaki, ʻo hangē ko e fakahā mai kiate au ʻe hotau ʻEiki ko Sisu Kalaisi.
Knowing that shortly I must put off this my tabernacle, even as our Lord Jesus Christ has showed me.
15 Ka te u fai tōtōaki, koeʻuhi, ka hili ʻeku mate, kemou faʻa manatu maʻuaipē ki he ngaahi meʻa ni.
Moreover I will endeavour that all of you may be able after my decease to have these things always in remembrance.
16 He naʻe ʻikai temau angimui ki he ngaahi talatupuʻa naʻe fakatupu ʻe he poto fakakākā, ʻi he ʻemau fakaʻilo kiate kimoutolu ʻae mālohi mo e hoko mai ʻa hotau ʻEiki ko Sisu Kalaisi, ka ko e kau mamata ʻakimautolu ki hono nāunau.
For we have not followed cunningly devised fables, when we made known unto you the power and coming of our Lord Jesus Christ, but were eyewitnesses of his majesty.
17 He naʻe maʻu ʻe ia ʻae ongoongolelei mo e nāunau mei he ʻOtua ko e Tamai, ʻi he hoko mai kiate ia ʻae leʻo ko ia mei he nāunau lelei lahi ʻaupito, “Ko hoku ʻAlo ʻofaʻanga eni, ʻaia ʻoku ou fiemālie lahi ai.”
For he received from God the Father honour and glory, when there came such a voice to him from the excellent glory, This is my beloved Son, in whom I am well pleased.
18 Pea ko e leʻo ni naʻe haʻu mei he langi naʻa mau ongoʻi, ʻi heʻemau fakataha mo ia ʻi he moʻunga tapu.
And this voice which came from heaven we heard, when we were with him in the holy mount.
19 Pea ʻoku tau maʻu foki ʻae lea moʻoni lahi ʻoe kikite; ʻaia ko hoʻomou fai lelei ʻa hoʻomou tokanga ki ai, ʻo hangē ha maama ʻoku ulo ʻi he potu fakapoʻuli, kaeʻoua ke mafoa ʻae ata, pea hopo hake ʻae fetuʻuʻaho ʻi homou loto:
We have also a more sure word (logos) of prophecy; unto which all of you do well that all of you take heed, as unto a light that shines in a dark place, until the day dawn, and the day star arise in your hearts:
20 ‌ʻO tomuʻa ʻilo ʻa eni, ʻoku ʻikai ha kikite ʻi he tohitapu ʻoku tupu meiate ia pe ʻa hono ʻuhinga.
Knowing this first, that no prophecy of the scripture is of any private interpretation.
21 He ko e kikite ʻi muʻa naʻe ʻikai tupu mei he faʻiteliha ʻae tangata: ka naʻe lea ʻae kau tangata māʻoniʻoni ʻoe ʻOtua ʻi hono ueʻi ʻakinautolu ʻe he Laumālie Māʻoniʻoni.
For the prophecy came not in old time by the will of man: but holy men of God spoke as they were moved by the Holy Spirit. (pneuma)
