< 2 Meʻa Hokohoko 23 >

1 Pea naʻe fakamālohi ia ʻe Sihoiata ʻi hono fitu ʻoe taʻu, ʻo ne ʻomi ʻae ngaahi ʻeiki pule ʻoe ngaahi teau [mo ]ʻAsalia ko e foha ʻo Silahami, mo ʻIsimeʻeli ko e foha ʻo Sihohanani, mo ʻAsalia ko e foha ʻo ʻOpeti, mo Māseia ko e foha ʻo ʻAtaia, mo Ilisafate ko e foha ʻo Sikili, ʻonau fefuakavaʻaki.
In the seventh year, Jehoiada showed his strength and entered into a covenant with the commanders of hundreds, Azariah son of Jeroham, Ishmael son of Jehohanan, Azariah son of Obed, Maaseiah son of Adaiah, and Elishaphat son of Zichri.
2 Pea naʻa nau ʻalu fano pe ʻi Siuta, ʻonau tānaki ʻae kau Livai mei he ngaahi kolo kotoa pē ʻo Siuta, mo e kau tuʻukimuʻa ʻi he ngaahi tamai ʻa ʻIsileli, pea nau haʻu ki Selūsalema.
They went about in Judah and gathered the Levites from all the cities of Judah, as well as the heads of the ancestral houses of Israel, and they came to Jerusalem.
3 Pea naʻe fai ʻae fuakava ki he tuʻi ʻe he kakai kotoa pē ʻi he fale ʻoe ʻOtua.
All the assembly made a covenant with the king in the house of God. Jehoiada said to them, “See, the king's son will reign, as Yahweh has said concerning the descendants of David.
4 Ko eni ʻae meʻa te mou fai: Ko hono tolu ʻoe vahe ʻomoutolu ʻoku hū ki loto ʻi he ʻaho tapu ʻoe kau taulaʻeiki mo e kau Livai, te mou leʻo matapā:
This is what you must do: A third of you priests and Levites who come to serve on the Sabbath will be guards at the doors.
5 Pea ko hono vahe tolu [ʻe taha ]te mou ʻi he fale ʻoe tuʻi: pea ko hono tolu ʻoe vahe ʻe ʻi he matapā ʻoe tuʻunga: pea ʻe ʻi he ngaahi lotoʻā ʻoe fale ʻo Sihova ʻae kakai kotoa pē.
Another third will be at the king's house, and the other third will be at the Foundation Gate. All the people will be in the courtyard of the house of Yahweh.
6 Kaeʻoua naʻa hū ha niʻihi ki he fale ʻo Sihova ka ko e kau taulaʻeiki, mo kinautolu ʻi he kau Livai ʻoku tauhi: ʻe hū ki ai ʻakinautolu, he ʻoku nau māʻoniʻoni: ka ke tauhi ʻe he kakai kotoa pē ʻae leʻo ʻo Sihova.
Allow no one to come into the house of Yahweh, except for the priests and the Levites who are serving. They may enter because they are consecrated. But all the other people must obey the commands of Yahweh.
7 Pea ke tuʻu ʻo ʻāʻi ʻae tuʻi ʻe he kau Livai ʻo takatakai, ʻo taki taha ʻae tangata mo ʻene mahafu ʻi hono nima: pea ʻilonga ha tokotaha kehe ʻoku hū ki he fale, ʻe tāmateʻi ia: ka ke ʻi he tuʻi ʻakimoutolu ʻi heʻene hū ki loto, mo ʻene hū kituʻa.”
The Levites must surround the king on all sides, every man with his weapons in his hand. Whoever comes into the house, let him be killed. Stay with the king when he comes in and when he goes out.”
8 Ko ia, naʻe fai ʻe he kau Livai mo Siuta kotoa pē ʻae meʻa kotoa pē naʻe fekau ʻe Sihoiata ko e taulaʻeiki kiate kinautolu, ʻonau ʻave taki taha hono kau tangata ʻaia naʻe tonu ke hū ki loto ʻi he ʻaho tapu, mo kinautolu naʻe tonu ke ʻalu kituʻa ʻi he ʻaho tapu: he naʻe ʻikai tuku ke ʻalu ʻe Sihoiata ʻae kau leʻo.
So the Levites and all Judah served in every way in the manner in which Jehoiada the priest commanded. Each one took his men, those who were to come in to serve on the Sabbath, and those who were to leave off serving on the Sabbath, for Jehoiada the priest had not dismissed any of their divisions.
9 Pea naʻe tufaki foki ʻe Sihoiata ko e taulaʻeiki ki he kau ʻeiki pule ʻoe ngaahi teau ʻae ngaahi tao mo e ngaahi pā, mo e ngaahi fakaū, ʻaia naʻe ʻoe tuʻi ko Tevita, ʻaia naʻe ʻi he fale ʻoe ʻOtua.
Then Jehoiada the priest brought to the commanders spears and small and large shields that had been King David's that were in the house of God.
10 Pea naʻa ne fakaʻotu ʻae kakai kotoa pē, ʻae tangata taki taha mo ʻene mahafutau ʻi hono nima, mei he nima toʻomataʻu ʻoe fale tapu ki he nima toʻohema ʻoe faletapu, ʻo ofi ki he feilaulauʻanga mo e faletapu, ʻo takatakai ʻo ofi ki he tuʻi.
Jehoiada placed all the soldiers, each man with his weapon in his hand, from the right side of the temple to the left side of the temple, along by the altar and the temple, surrounding the king.
11 Pea hili ia naʻa nau ʻomi kituʻa ʻae foha ʻoe tuʻi, pea nau ʻai ʻae tatā fakatuʻi kiate ia, pea ʻatu kiate ia ʻae fuakava, pea fakanofo ia ko e tuʻi. Pea naʻe pani ʻaki ia ʻae lolo ʻe Sihoiata mo hono ngaahi foha, ʻo ne pehē, “Ke fakamoʻui ʻe he ʻOtua ʻae tuʻi.”
Then they brought out the king's son, put the crown on him, and gave him the covenant decrees. Then they made him king, and Jehoiada and his sons anointed him. Then they said, “Long live the king.”
12 Pea ʻi he fanongo ʻe ʻAtalia ki he ʻuʻulu ʻoe kakai ʻi he lele mo e fakamālō ki he tuʻi, naʻe haʻu ia ki he kakai ki he loto fale ʻo Sihova:
When Athaliah heard the noise of the people running and praising the king, she came to the people in the house of Yahweh,
13 Pea sio ia, pea vakai, naʻe tuʻu ʻae tuʻi ʻi hono pou ʻi he hūʻanga: pea naʻe ofi ki he tuʻi ʻae houʻeiki mo e ngaahi meʻalea: pea naʻe fiefia ʻae kakai kotoa pē ʻoe fonua, ʻonau ifi ʻae ngaahi meʻalea, mo e kau hiva foki mo e ngaahi meʻa faiva, mo kinautolu naʻe ako ke hiva ʻae fakamālō. Pea naʻe hae hono kofu ʻe ʻAtalia, ʻo ne pehē, “Ko e lapa, ko e lapa.”
and she looked, and, behold, the king was standing by his pillar at the entrance, and the commanders and the trumpeters were by the king. All the people of the land were rejoicing and blowing trumpets, and the singers were playing musical instruments and leading the singing of praise. Then Athaliah tore her clothes and shouted, “Treason! Treason!”
14 Pea naʻe ʻomi ai ʻe Sihoiata ko e taulaʻeiki ʻae kau ʻeiki pule ʻoe ngaahi teau ʻaia naʻe fakanofo ki he ngaahi tau, ʻo ne pehē kiate kinautolu, “ʻAve ia ki he mamaʻo mei he ngaahi fakangatangataʻanga: pea ko ia ʻe muimui ʻiate ia ke tāmateʻi ia ʻaki ʻae heletā.” He naʻe pehē ʻe he taulaʻeiki, “ʻOua naʻa tāmateʻi ia ʻi he fale ʻo Sihova.”
Then Jehoiada the priest brought out the commanders of hundreds who were over the army and said to them, “Bring her out between the ranks; anyone who follows her, let him be killed with the sword.” For the priest had said, “Do not kill her in the house of Yahweh.”
15 Ko ia naʻa nau puke ia ʻaki honau nima: pea ʻi heʻene hoko ki he hūʻanga ʻoe matapā ʻoe fanga hoosi ʻo ofi ki he fale ʻoe tuʻi, naʻa nau tāmateʻi ia ʻi ai.
So they seized her as she went into the entrance of the Horse Gate of the king's house, and there they killed her.
16 Pea naʻe fai ʻe Sihoiata ʻae fuakava, ʻaia mo e kakai kotoa pē, pea mo e tuʻi, koeʻuhi ke nau hoko ko e kakai ʻa Sihova.
Then Jehoiada made a covenant between himself, all the people, and the king, that they should be Yahweh's people.
17 Pea naʻe ʻalu ai ʻae kakai kotoa pē ki he fale ʻo Peali, pea holoki hifo ia ʻo maumauʻi, pea laiki hono ngaahi feilaulauʻanga mo hono ngaahi fakatātā ke fakaikiiki, pea nau tāmateʻi ʻa Metani ko e taula ʻo Peali ʻi he ʻao ʻoe ngaahi feilaulauʻanga.
So all the people went to the house of Baal and tore it down. They smashed Baal's altars and his images to pieces, and they killed Mattan, the priest of Baal, in front of those altars.
18 Pea naʻe fakanofo ʻe Sihoiata ʻae ngaahi matāpule ʻoe fale ʻo Sihova ʻi he pule ʻae kau taulaʻeiki mo e kau Livai, ʻaia naʻe tufaki ʻe Tevita ʻi he fale ʻo Sihova, ke ʻatu ʻae ngaahi feilaulau tutu, ʻo hangē ko ia naʻe tohi ʻi he fono ʻa Mōsese, ʻaki ʻae fiefia mo e hiva, ʻo hangē ko ia naʻe tuʻutuʻuni ʻe Tevita.
Jehoiada appointed officers for the house of Yahweh under the hand of the priests, who were Levites, whom David had assigned to the house of Yahweh, to offer the burnt offerings to Yahweh, as it was written in the law of Moses, together with rejoicing and singing, as David had given direction.
19 Pea ne fakanofo ʻae kau leʻo ʻi he ngaahi matapā ʻi he fale ʻo Sihova, koeʻuhi ke ʻoua naʻa hū ki ai ha tokotaha naʻe taʻemaʻa ʻi ha meʻa ʻe taha.
Jehoiada set guards at the gates of the house of Yahweh, so that no one that was unclean in any way should enter.
20 Pea naʻe ʻave ʻe ia ʻae ngaahi ʻeiki pule ʻoe ngaahi teau, mo e houʻeiki, mo e kau pule ʻoe kakai, pea mo e kakai kotoa pē ʻoe fonua, ʻo ne ʻomi ʻae tuʻi mei he fale ʻo Sihova: pea naʻa nau hū ʻi he matapā māʻolunga ki he fale ʻoe tuʻi, pea naʻe fakanofo ʻae tuʻi ki he nofoʻa fakatuʻi ʻoe puleʻanga.
Jehoiada took with him the commanders of hundreds, the noblemen, the governors of the people, and all the people of the land. He brought down the king from the house of Yahweh; the people came through the Upper Gate to the king's house and sat the king on the throne of the kingdom.
21 Pea naʻe fiefia ʻae kakai kotoa pē ʻoe fonua: pea naʻe fiemālie ʻae kolo, hili ʻenau tāmateʻi ʻa ʻAtalia ʻaki ʻae heletā.
So all the people of the land rejoiced, and the city was quiet. As for Athaliah, they had killed her with the sword.
