< 1 Samuela 30 >

1 Pea kuo hoko ʻa Tevita mo hono kau tangata ki Sikilaki ʻi hono tolu ʻoe ʻaho, pea pehē, naʻe tauʻi ʻe he kakai ʻAmaleki ʻae potu tonga, mo Sikilaki, pea kuo taaʻi ʻa Sikilaki, pea tutu ʻaki ʻae afi.
And it came to pass, when David and his men were come to Ziklag on the third day, that the Amalekites had invaded the south, and Ziklag, and smitten Ziklag, and burned it with fire;
And had taken the women captives, that were therein: they slew not any, either great or small, but carried them away, and went on their way.
3 Pea naʻe hoko ʻa Tevita mo hono kau tangata ki he kolo, pea vakai, kuo tutu ia ʻaki ʻae afi, pea kuo ʻave fakapōpula honau ngaahi uaifi, mo ʻenau ngaahi fānau.
So David and his men came to the city, and, behold, it was burned with fire; and their wives, and their sons, and their daughters, were taken captives.
4 Pea ko Tevita mo e kakai naʻe ʻiate ia naʻa nau hiki honau leʻo ʻo tangi, pea naʻa nau tangi ai pe ʻonau vaivai.
Then David and the people that were with him lifted up their voice and wept, until they had no more power to weep.
5 Pea kuo maʻu fakapōpula ʻae ongo uaifi ʻo Tevita, ʻa ʻAhinoami ko e fefine Sesilili, mo ʻApikale naʻe mali mo Napale ko e tangata Kameli.
And David's two wives were taken captives, Ahinoam the Jezreelitess, and Abigail the wife of Nabal the Carmelite.
6 Pea naʻe mamahi lahi ʻa Tevita; he naʻe alea ʻae kakai ke tolongaki ia ʻaki ʻae maka, koeʻuhi kuo mamahi lahi ʻaupito ʻae loto ʻoe kakai kotoa pē, ʻo taki taha ʻae tangata ki hono ngaahi foha, pea ki hono ngaahi ʻofefine: ka naʻe fakafiemālieʻi ia ʻe Tevita ʻia Sihova ko hono ʻOtua.
And David was greatly distressed; for the people spake of stoning him, because the soul of all the people was grieved, every man for his sons and for his daughters: but David encouraged himself in YHWH his Elohim.
7 Pea naʻe pehē ʻe Tevita kia ʻApiata ko e taulaʻeiki, ko e foha ʻo ʻAhimeleki, “ʻOku ou kole kiate koe, ʻomi ki heni ʻae ʻefoti.” Pea ʻomi ki ai ʻe ʻApiata ʻae ʻefoti kia Tevita.
And David said to Abiathar the priest, Ahimelech's son, I pray thee, bring me hither the ephod. And Abiathar brought thither the ephod to David.
8 Pea naʻe fehuʻi ʻe Tevita kia Sihova, ʻo pehē, “Te u tuli ki he kau tau? Te u maʻu ʻakinautolu?” Pea naʻe tala pehē ʻe ia kiate ia, “Tuli: ko e moʻoni te ke maʻu ʻakinautolu, pea ko e moʻoni te ke toe maʻu [kotoa pē].”
And David inquired at YHWH, saying, Shall I pursue after this troop? shall I overtake them? And he answered him, Pursue: for thou shalt surely overtake them, and without fail recover all.
So David went, he and the six hundred men that were with him, and came to the brook Besor, where those that were left behind stayed.
10 Pea naʻe tuli ʻakinautolu ʻe Tevita, ʻaia mo e kau tangata ʻe toko fāngeau: he naʻe nofo kimui ʻae toko uangeau, ʻaia naʻa nau vaivai lahi ʻo ʻikai tenau faʻa lava ki he kauvai ʻe taha ʻi Pisoa.
But David pursued, he and four hundred men: for two hundred abode behind, which were so faint that they could not go over the brook Besor.
11 Pea naʻa nau ʻilo ʻae tangata ʻIsipite ʻi he ngoue, ʻonau ʻomi ia kia Tevita, pea ne ʻatu kiate ia ʻae mā, pea ne kai pea nau fakainu ia ʻi he vai.
And they found an Egyptian in the field, and brought him to David, and gave him bread, and he did eat; and they made him drink water;
12 Pea naʻa nau tuku kiate ia ʻae konga fiki naʻe natu; mo e fuhi kālepi mōmoa ʻe ua: pea hili ʻene kai, naʻe toe haʻu hono laumālie kiate ia: he naʻe ʻikai kai ʻe ia ha mā, pe inu ha vai, ʻi he ʻaho ʻe tolu mo e pō ʻe tolu.
And they gave him a piece of a cake of figs, and two clusters of raisins: and when he had eaten, his spirit came again to him: for he had eaten no bread, nor drunk any water, three days and three nights.
13 Pea naʻe pehē ʻe Tevita kiate ia, “ʻOku ke kau koe mo hai? Pea ʻoku haʻu mei fē koe?” Pea pehē ʻe ia, “Ko e tangata talavou au mei ʻIsipite, ko e tamaioʻeiki ʻae tangata ʻAmaleki; pea naʻe liʻaki au ʻe heʻeku ʻeiki ʻi he ʻaho ʻe tolu kuo hili ko e meʻa ʻi he tuia ʻa hoku mahaki.”
And David said unto him, To whom belongest thou? and whence art thou? And he said, I am a young man of Egypt, servant to an Amalekite; and my master left me, because three days agone I fell sick.
14 Naʻa mau hoko atu ʻo tauʻi ʻae potu tonga ʻo Keliti, pea ki he potu ʻoku ʻia Siuta, pea ki he potu tonga ʻo Kelepi pea mau tutu ʻa Sikilaki ʻaki ʻae afi.
We made an invasion upon the south of the Cherethites, and upon the coast which belongeth to Judah, and upon the south of Caleb; and we burned Ziklag with fire.
15 Pea naʻe pehē ʻe Tevita kiate ia, “ʻOku ke faʻa ʻave au ki he kakai ko ia? Pea pehē ʻe ia, “Fuakava kiate au ʻi he ʻOtua ʻe ʻikai te ke tāmateʻi au, pe tukuange au ki he nima ʻo hoku ʻeiki, pea te u ʻave koe ki he kakai ni.”
And David said to him, Canst thou bring me down to this company? And he said, Swear unto me by Elohim, that thou wilt neither kill me, nor deliver me into the hands of my master, and I will bring thee down to this company.
16 Pea ʻi heʻene ʻomi ia ki ai, vakai, kuo nau nofo mafola atu mamaʻo ʻi he funga kelekele kotoa pē, ʻoku nau kai mo inu, mo meʻe, ko e meʻa ʻi he ngaahi vete lahi kuo nau maʻu mei he fonua ʻoe kakai Filisitia, pea mei he fonua ʻo Siuta.
And when he had brought him down, behold, they were spread abroad upon all the earth, eating and drinking, and dancing, because of all the great spoil that they had taken out of the land of the Philistines, and out of the land of Judah.
17 Pea naʻe teʻia ʻakinautolu ʻe Tevita mei he hengihengi ʻo aʻu atu ki he efiafi ʻoe ʻaho naʻa na feholoi: pea naʻe ʻikai hao ha tangata ʻe tokotaha ʻokinautolu, ka ko e kau talavou ʻe toko fāngeau naʻe heka ʻi he fanga kāmeli naʻe hola.
And David smote them from the twilight even unto the evening of the next day: and there escaped not a man of them, save four hundred young men, which rode upon camels, and fled.
18 Pea naʻe toe maʻu kotoa pē ʻe Tevita ʻaia naʻe fetuku ʻo ʻave ʻe he kakai ʻAmaleki: pea naʻe toe fakahaofi ʻe Tevita hono ongo uaifi.
And David recovered all that the Amalekites had carried away: and David rescued his two wives.
19 Pea naʻe ʻikai ha meʻa kuo mole ʻiate kinautolu, ʻi he meʻa siʻi, pe ʻi he meʻa lahi, pe ʻi he ngaahi foha, pe ʻi he ngaahi ʻofefine, pe ʻi he koloa vete, pe ha meʻa ʻe taha naʻa nau toʻo kiate kinautolu naʻe maʻu kotoa pē ʻe Tevita.
And there was nothing lacking to them, neither small nor great, neither sons nor daughters, neither spoil, nor any thing that they had taken to them: David recovered all.
20 Pea naʻe ʻave ʻe Tevita ʻae ngaahi fanga manu siʻi mo e fanga manu lahi, ʻaia naʻa nau tekeʻi muʻomuʻa ʻi he ngaahi fanga manu lalahi niʻihi, ʻo ne pehē, “Ko eni ʻae vete ʻa Tevita.”
And David took all the flocks and the herds, which they drave before those other cattle, and said, This is David's spoil.
21 Pea naʻe haʻu ʻa Tevita ki he kau tangata ʻe toko uangeau ʻaia ko e meʻa ʻi heʻenau vaivai naʻe ʻikai tenau faʻa muimui ʻia Tevita, ʻakinautolu naʻa nau pule ke nofo ʻi he vaitafe ko Pisoa: pea naʻa nau ʻalu atu ke fakafetaulaki kia Tevita, pea kenau fakafetaulaki ki he kakai naʻe ʻiate ia: pea ʻi he hoko ʻa Tevita ʻo ofi ki he kakai, naʻe feʻiloaki ʻofa ia mo kinautolu.
And David came to the two hundred men, which were so faint that they could not follow David, whom they had made also to abide at the brook Besor: and they went forth to meet David, and to meet the people that were with him: and when David came near to the people, he saluted them.
22 Pea naʻe lea ai ʻae kau tangata kovi kotoa pē mo e kakai anga fakamaveuveu, ʻio, ʻakinautolu naʻe ʻalu mo Tevita, ʻo pehē, “Ko e meʻa ʻi he ʻikai siʻi tenau ʻalu mo kimautolu, ʻe ʻikai ai te mau ʻatu kiate kinautolu ha meʻa siʻi ʻi he vete ni kuo mau toe maʻu ni, kae ʻatu taki taha ki he tangata hono uaifi, mo ʻene fānau, koeʻuhi ke ne tataki ia ʻo ʻave, pea ʻalu ai.”
Then answered all the wicked men and men of Belial, of those that went with David, and said, Because they went not with us, we will not give them ought of the spoil that we have recovered, save to every man his wife and his children, that they may lead them away, and depart.
23 Pea naʻe pehē ʻe Tevita, “ʻE hoku kāinga, ʻe ʻikai te mou fai pehē, ʻi he ngaahi meʻa kuo foaki ʻe Sihova kiate kitautolu, ʻaia kuo ne fakamoʻui ʻakitautolu, pea fakahaofi ʻakitautolu mei he kakai naʻe haʻu ke tauʻi ʻakitautolu ʻi hotau fonua.
Then said David, Ye shall not do so, my brethren, with that which YHWH hath given us, who hath preserved us, and delivered the company that came against us into our hand.
24 He ko hai ia ʻe tokanga kiate kimoutolu ʻi he meʻa ni? Kae hangē ko e ʻinasi ʻo ia ʻoku ʻalu hifo ki he tau, ʻe pehē pe ʻae ʻinasi ʻo ia ʻoku tatali ʻo leʻohi ʻae ngaʻotoʻota: tenau ʻinasi tatau pe.”
For who will hearken unto you in this matter? but as his part is that goeth down to the battle, so shall his part be that tarrieth by the stuff: they shall part alike.
25 Pea talu ʻae ʻaho ko ia ʻo fai kimui naʻa ne fokotuʻu ia ko e fono mo e tuʻutuʻuni maʻa ʻIsileli ʻo aʻu ki he ʻaho ni.
And it was so from that day forward, that he made it a statute and an ordinance for Israel unto this day.
26 Pea ʻi he hoko ʻa Tevita ki Sikilaki, naʻe fekau ʻe ia ke ʻatu ʻae koloa vete ki he kau mātuʻa ʻo Siuta, ʻio, ki hono ngaahi kāinga, ʻo pehē, “Vakai, ko e meʻaʻofa maʻamoutolu ʻi he vete mei he ngaahi fili ʻo Sihova;”
And when David came to Ziklag, he sent of the spoil unto the elders of Judah, even to his friends, saying, Behold a present for you of the spoil of the enemies of YHWH;
27 Kiate kinautolu naʻe ʻi Peteli, pea kiate kinautolu naʻe ʻi Lemoti ʻi he potu tonga, pea kiate kinautolu naʻe ʻi Satili,
To them which were in Bethel, and to them which were in south Ramoth, and to them which were in Jattir,
28 Pea kiate kinautolu naʻe ʻi ʻAloeli, pea kiate kinautolu naʻe ʻi Sifimoti, pea kiate kinautolu naʻe ʻi ʻEsitemoa,
And to them which were in Aroer, and to them which were in Siphmoth, and to them which were in Eshtemoa,
29 Pea kiate kinautolu naʻe ʻi Lakali, pea kiate kinautolu naʻe ʻi he ngaahi kolo ʻae kakai Selamili, pea kiate kinautolu naʻe ʻi he ngaahi kolo ʻoe kakai Kena,
And to them which were in Rachal, and to them which were in the cities of the Jerahmeelites, and to them which were in the cities of the Kenites,
30 Pea kiate kinautolu naʻe ʻi Hoama, pea kiate kinautolu naʻe ʻi Kolasani, pea kiate kinautolu naʻe ʻi ʻAtaki,
And to them which were in Hormah, and to them which were in Chor-ashan, and to them which were in Athach,
31 Pea kiate kinautolu naʻe ʻi Hepeloni, pea ki he ngaahi potu kotoa pē ʻaia naʻe faʻa ʻāunofo ki ai ʻa Tevita mo hono kau tangata.
And to them which were in Hebron, and to all the places where David himself and his men were wont to haunt.
