< 1 Samuela 29 >

1 Pea naʻe tānaki fakataha ʻe he kakai Filisitia ʻa ʻenau ngaahi matanga tau ki ʻEfeki: pea naʻe ʻapitanga ʻae kakai ʻIsileli ʻo ofi ki he matavai ʻaia ʻoku ʻi Sesilili.
Now the Philistines gathered together all their hosts, towards Aphek, —and, the Israelites, were encamping by the fountain, that is in Jezreel.
2 Pea naʻe ʻalu atu ʻae houʻeiki ʻoe kakai Filisitia ʻi he ngaahi toko teau, mo e ngaahi toko afe: pea ʻalu ʻa Tevita mo hono kau tangata kimui mo ʻAkisi.
And, the lords of the Philistines, were passing on by hundreds, and by thousands, —but, David and his men, were passing on in the rear, with Achish.
3 Pea pehē ʻe he houʻeiki ʻoe kakai Filisitia, “Ko e hā ʻoku fai ʻe he kau Hepelū ni ʻi heni?” Pea pehē ʻe ʻAkisi ki he houʻeiki ʻoe kakai Filisitia, “ʻIkai ko Tevita eni, ko e tamaioʻeiki ʻa Saula, ko e tuʻi ʻo ʻIsileli, ʻaia kuo ʻiate au ʻi he ngaahi ʻaho ni, pe ko e ngaahi taʻu, pea ʻoku ʻikai te u ʻilo ha kovi ʻe taha ʻiate ia talu ʻene hau kiate au ʻo aʻu ki he ʻaho ni?”
Then said the princes of the Philistines, What are these Hebrews [doing]? And Achish said unto the princes of the Philistines—Is not this David, servant of Saul king of Israel, who hath been with me this year, or two, and I have found in him nothing, from the day of his coming over unto me unto this day?
4 Pea naʻe ʻita ʻae houʻeiki ʻoe kakai Filisitia kiate ia; pea pehē ʻe he houʻeiki ʻoe kau Filisitia kiate ia, “Ke ke fakafoki ʻae siana ni, koeʻuhi ke toe ʻalu ia ki hono potu ʻaia kuo ke tuʻutuʻuni kiate ia, pea ʻoua naʻa tuku ia ke ʻalu hifo mo kitautolu ki he tau, telia naʻa hoko ia ʻi he tau ko e fili kiate kitautolu: he te ne fakalelei ia ki heʻene ʻeiki ʻi he hā? ʻIkai ʻaki ʻae ngaahi ʻulu ʻoe kau tangata ni?
But the princes of the Philistines raged against him, and the princes of the Philistines said unto him—Let the man go back, that he may return unto the place which thou didst appoint him, and let him not go down with us, into battle, so shall he not become to us a traitor, in the battle, —for, wherewith, should this fellow gain favour with his lord? Would it not be with the heads of those men?
5 ‌ʻIkai ko Tevita eni, ʻaia naʻa nau hiva fetoutou fetaliʻaki ai ʻi he ngaahi meʻe, ʻo pehē, ‘Kuo tāmateʻi ʻe Saula ʻene ngaahi toko afe, mo Tevita ʻene ngaahi toko mano?’”
Is not this David, of whom they made responses in the dances, saying, —Saul, hath smitten, his thousands, But, David, his, tens of thousands?
6 Pea naʻe ui ʻe ʻAkisi ʻa Tevita, ʻo ne pehē kiate ia, “Ko e moʻoni, hangē ʻoku moʻui ʻa Sihova, naʻa ke fai angatonu, pea ko e tau fetoutoumoliliuʻaki mo koe ʻi he tau, ʻoku lelei ʻi hoku ʻao: he ʻoku ʻikai te u ʻilo ha kovi ʻiate koe talu ʻae ʻaho ʻo hoʻo haʻu kiate au ʻo hoko mo e ʻaho ni: ka ko e moʻoni ʻoku ʻikai te ke lelei ʻi he ʻao ʻoe houʻeiki.
So Achish called for David, and said unto him—By the life of Yahweh, surely, upright, thou art, and, pleasing in mine eyes, have been thy going out and thy coming in with me, in the host, for I have found in thee no wrong, from the day of thy coming in unto me, until this day, —but, in the eyes of the lords, displeasing, thou art.
7 Ko ia ke ke foki ni, pea ke ʻalu fiemālie pe, telia naʻa ke fakaʻita ʻae houʻeiki ʻoe kakai Filisitia.”
Now, therefore, return, and go in peace, —so shalt thou not do wrong in the eyes of the lords of the Philistines.
8 Pea naʻe pehē ʻe Tevita kia ʻAkisi, “Ka ko e hā ia kuo u fai? Pea ko e hā ia kuo ke ʻilo ki hoʻo tamaioʻeiki lolotonga ʻe tau nonofo mo koe ʻo aʻu ki he ʻaho ni, koeʻuhi ke ʻoua naʻaku ʻalu ʻo tauʻi ʻae ngaahi fili ʻo ʻeku ʻeiki ko e tuʻi?”
Then said David unto Achish—But what have I done? and what hast thou found in thy servant, from the day that I came before thee, unto this day, —that I may not go in and fight, with the enemies of my lord the king.
9 Pea leaange ʻa ʻAkisi ʻo pehē kia Tevita, “ʻOku ou ʻilo ʻoku ke lelei ʻi hoku ʻao, ʻo hangē ko e ʻāngelo ʻae ʻOtua: ka koeʻuhi kuo ʻosi ʻae lea ʻae houʻeiki ʻoe kakai Filisitia, ʻo pehē, ‘ʻE ʻikai ʻalu ia mo kitautolu ki he tau.’
Then answered Achish, and said unto David, I acknowledge that, pleasing, thou art in mine eyes, as a messenger of God, —notwithstanding, the princes of the Philistines, have said, He shall not go up with us, into the battle.
10 Pea ko ia ke ke tuʻu hengihengi hake ʻi he ʻapongipongi mo e kau tamaioʻeiki ʻa hoʻo ʻeiki ʻaia kuo haʻu mo koe: pea ʻi hoʻomou tuʻu hake leva ʻi he ʻapongipongi, pea maama ʻae ʻaho, pea mou ʻalu.”
Now, therefore, rise up early in the morning, thou and the servants of thy lord who have come with thee, —yea, as soon as ye have risen early in the morning, and have light, then depart.
11 Ko ia naʻe tuʻu hengihengi hake ai ʻa Tevita mo hono kau tangata ʻi he pongipongi, ke foki atu ki he fonua ʻoe kakai Filisitia. Pea naʻe ʻalu hake ʻae kakai Filisitia ki Sesilili.
So David rose up early, he and his men, to depart in the morning, to return into the land of the Philistines, —but, the Philistines, went up to Jezreel.
