< 1 Pita 4 >
1 Pea ko e meʻa ʻi he mamahi ʻa Kalaisi ʻi he sino koeʻuhi ko kitautolu, ke teuteu ʻakimoutolu foki ʻaki ʻae loto pe ko ia: he ko ia kuo mamahi ʻi he sino, kuo tuku ʻe ia ʻae angahala;
If then the Meshiha hath suffered for you in the flesh, be you also armed in it with the same mind; for every one who dieth in his body hath ceased from all sins,
2 Koeʻuhi ke ʻoua naʻa moʻui ia ʻi hono toe ʻoe ngaahi ʻaho ʻi he sino ki he holi ʻoe tangata, ka ki he finangalo ʻoe ʻOtua.
that henceforth to the lusts of men he should not live, what time he is in the body, but to the will of Aloha.
3 He kuo lahi kiate kitautolu ʻae kuonga kuo hili ange ʻo ʻetau moʻui ke fai ai ʻae loto ʻoe kakai Senitaile, ʻaia naʻa tau ʻaʻeva ai ʻi he anga fakalielia, mo e ngaahi holi kovi, mo e inu lahi ʻi he uaine, ʻi he ngaahi kātoanga kai, mo e ngaahi kātoanga inu uaine, mo e fakalielia ʻoe tauhi tamapua:
For the time which hath passed sufficeth to have served the will of the Gentiles in indulgence, in drunkenness, in vileness, in revellings, and in the service of demons.
4 ʻAia ʻoku nau ofo ʻi he ʻikai te mou [kei ]feleleʻi ki he maveuveu lahi faufau ko ia, ʻonau lauʻikovi [ʻakimoutolu]:
And, behold, now they wonder and blaspheme at you because you riot not with them in that former indulgence;
5 ʻAkinautolu ʻe fakamatala kiate ia ʻoku teu ke ne fakamaauʻi ʻae moʻui mo e mate.
they who shall give account to Aloha, who will judge the dead and the living.
6 He ko e meʻa ko eni naʻe malangaʻaki ai ʻae ongoongolelei kiate kinautolu foki kuo mate, koeʻuhi ke fakamaau ʻakinautolu ʻi he kakano, ʻo fakatatau ki he tangata, kae moʻui ʻo fakatatau ki he ʻOtua ʻi he laumālie.
For on this account the dead also have been evangelized; that they might be judged as men in the flesh, and live with Aloha in the Spirit.
7 Ka kuo ofi ʻae ngataʻanga ʻoe meʻa kotoa pē: ko ia mou fai fakapotopoto, mo leʻo ke lotu.
BUT the end of all cometh; therefore be sober, and watch unto prayer.
8 Pea sino ʻoe meʻa ke mou maʻu ʻae ʻofa vela ʻiate kimoutolu: he ʻoku ʻufiʻufi ʻe he ʻofa ʻae ngaahi angahala lahi
And before every thing have ardent love for one another; for love covereth a multitude of sins.
9 Pea fai ʻae fefoakiʻaki ʻekimoutolu kiate kimoutolu ʻo taʻelāunga.
And be lovers of guests without murmuring.
10 Pea hangē kuo maʻu taki taha ʻae foaki, ke pehē hono fengāueʻaki ia ʻiate kimoutolu, ʻo taau mo e kau tauhi lelei ʻoe ʻofa lahi ʻae ʻOtua.
And every man of you the gift which he hath received from Aloha, let him minister thereof unto his neighbours as good stewards of the various grace of Aloha.
11 Kapau ʻoku lea ʻe ha taha, ke fakatatau ia mo e folofola ʻae ʻOtua; kapau ʻoku tauhi ʻe ha taha, ke tatau ia mo e mafai ko ia ʻoku foaki ʻe he ʻOtua: koeʻuhi ke ongoongolelei ʻae ʻOtua ʻi he meʻa kotoa pē ʻia Sisu Kalaisi, ke ʻiate ia ʻae fakafetaʻi mo e pule ʻo taʻengata pea taʻengata. ʻEmeni. (aiōn )
Whoever shall speak, as the word of Aloha let him speak and whoever ministereth, (he shall minister) as from the power which Aloha giveth to him, that in every thing which you do Aloha may be glorified through Jeshu Meshiha, whose are the glory and honour to the age of ages. Amen. (aiōn )
12 ʻE kāinga, ʻoua te mou ofo ʻi he ʻahiʻahi vela ʻaia ʻe ʻahiʻahi ʻaki ʻakimoutolu, ʻo hangē kuo hoko ha meʻa foʻou kiate kimoutolu:
My beloved, be not amazed at the temptations which you have, as that something strange happeneth to you, because for your probation they have been;
13 Kae fiefia, ko e meʻa ʻi hoʻomou kau ʻi he ngaahi mamahi ʻa Kalaisi; koeʻuhi ʻoka fakahā mai hono nāunau, te mou fiefia foki ʻaki ʻae fiefia lahi ʻaupito.
but rejoice that you are partakers of the sufferings of the Meshiha, that so also at the revelation of his glory you may rejoice and exult.
14 Kapau ʻoku manukia ʻakimoutolu koeʻuhi ko e huafa ʻo Kalaisi, ʻoku mou monūʻia; he ʻoku nofo kiate kimoutolu ʻae Laumālie ʻoe ongoongolelei mo e ʻOtua: ʻoku lauʻikovi ia ʻekinautolu, kae ongoongolelei ia ʻiate kimoutolu.
And if you be reviled for the sake of the name of the Meshiha, you are happy; for the Spirit of the glory of Aloha resteth upon you.
15 Kaeʻoua naʻa ʻiloange ʻoku tautea hamou taha koeʻuhi ko e fakapō, pe ko e kaihaʻa, pe ko e fai kovi, pe koeʻuhi ko e kaunoa ʻi he meʻa ʻae kakai kehe.
Only, let no man of you suffer as a murderer, or as a thief, or as a doer of evils.
16 Ka ʻoka [tautea ha taha ]koeʻuhi ko ʻene anga fakaKalisitiane, ke ʻoua naʻa mā ai ia; kae tuku muʻa ʻae fakaongoongolelei ki he ʻOtua koeʻuhi ko ia.
But if he suffer as a Christian, let him not be ashamed, but let him glorify Aloha in that very name.
17 He ko e kuonga eni ke fuofua fai ʻae tautea ki he fale ʻoe ʻOtua: pea ka kamata kiate kitautolu, pea ʻe fēfē ʻae ngataʻanga ʻokinautolu ʻoku ʻikai talangofua ki he ongoongolelei ʻoe ʻOtua?
For the time is, that judgment shall begin from the house of Aloha. But if from us it begin, what is the end (to be) of them who obey not the gospel of Aloha?
18 “Pea kapau kuo meimei ʻikai hao ʻae māʻoniʻoni, ʻe hā ki fē ʻae taʻelotu mo e angahala?”
And if the righteous scarcely be saved, the wicked and the sinner where shall he be found?
19 Ko ia ke ʻilonga ʻakinautolu ʻoku mamahi ʻo taau mo e finangalo ʻoe ʻOtua, ke tukupau honau laumālie ʻi he fai lelei, ʻo hangē ki he Tupuʻi ʻOtua ʻoku fai angatonu.
Wherefore, let them who suffer according to the will of Aloha commend to him their souls in good works, as unto the Faithful Creator.
