< 1 Tuʻi 6 >
Then it happened that, in the four hundred and eightieth year after the sons of Israel departed from the land of Egypt, in the fourth year of the reign of Solomon over Israel, in the month of Ziv, which is the second month, the house of the Lord began to be built.
Now the house, which king Solomon was building to the Lord, was sixty cubits in length, and twenty cubits in width, and thirty cubits in height.
3 Pea ko hono lōloa ʻoe hūʻanga fale fakamalumalu ʻi he ʻao ʻoe falelotu, ko e hanga ʻe fāngofulu, ʻo fakatatau mo e māukupu ʻoe fale; pea ko hono māukupu ʻi he ʻao ʻoe fale ko e hanga ʻe uofulu.
And a portico was before the temple, of twenty cubits in length, in accord with the measure of the width of the temple. And it had ten cubits of width before the face of the temple.
4 Pea naʻa ne ngaohi ki he fale ʻae ngaahi kātupa naʻe faʻa fakamaʻu ke sio mei ai.
And he made oblique windows in the temple.
5 Pea naʻa ne langa ʻae ngaahi potuʻi fale ʻi he tafaʻaki holisi maka ʻoe fale ʻo takatakai, ʻio, ʻi he tafaʻaki holisi maka ʻoe fale ʻo takatakai hake ʻi he potu tapu pea mo e folofolaʻanga: pea naʻa ne ngaohi ʻae ngaahi potu fale ʻo takatakai hake:
And upon the wall of the temple, he built panels on all sides, in the walls of the house around the temple and the oracle. And he made side chambers all around.
6 Ko e potu fale ʻi lalo ko hono māukupu ko e hanga ʻe hongofulu, pea ko ia ki loto ko e hanga ʻe hongofulu ma ua ʻa hono māukupu ʻo ia, pea ko hono tolu naʻe hongofulu ma fā ʻae hanga ʻi hono māukupu ʻo ia: he naʻa ne ngaohi ʻae ngaahi hiliʻanga lalanga lausiʻi kituʻa ʻi he holisi maka ʻoe fale, koeʻuhi ke ʻoua naʻa fakamaʻu ia ki he holisi maka ʻoe fale.
The flooring on the bottom level held five cubits in width, and the middle floor was six cubits in width, and the third floor held seven cubits in width. Then he positioned beams on the house all around the outside, in such a way that they would not be fastened to the walls of the temple.
7 Pea ʻi heʻene langa hake ʻae fale, naʻe langa ia ʻaki ʻae maka naʻe fakaʻosi ʻa hono teuteuʻi ʻi he teʻeki ke ʻomi ia ki ai; ko ia naʻe ʻikai patō ai ʻi he fale ha hamala, pe ha toki, pe ha meʻa fakatufunga ukamea, lolotonga ʻa hono langa hake.
Now the house, while it was being built, was made from cut and finished stones. And so, neither mallet, nor chisel, nor any tool of iron was heard in the house while it was being built.
8 Naʻe tuʻu ʻae matapā ki he potu fale ʻi loto ki he potu fale toʻomataʻu: pea naʻa nau ʻalu hake ʻi he tuʻunga mamiomio ki he fale ʻi loto, pea mei ai ʻi loto ki hono tolu.
The door at the side of the middle section was to the right of the house. And they would ascend along winding stairs to the middle level, and from the middle level to the third level.
9 Naʻe pehē ʻa ʻene langa ʻae fale mo fakaʻosi ia: pea naʻa ne ʻato ʻaki ʻae fale ʻae ngaahi lalanga mo e laupapa ʻoe ʻakau ko e sita.
And he built the house, and finished it. And he overlaid the house with boards of cedar.
10 Pea naʻa ne langa ʻae ngaahi potuʻi fale ke falala ki he holisi maka kotoa pē ʻoe fale, ko e hanga ʻe hongofulu ʻa hono māʻolunga: pea naʻe fakafalala ia ki he fale ʻaki ʻae ʻakau ko e sita.
And he built a paneling over the entire house, five cubits in height, and he covered the house with cedar wood.
11 Pea naʻe hoko mai ʻae folofola ʻa Sihova kia Solomone, ʻo pehē,
And the word of the Lord came to Solomon, saying:
12 “Ko e fale eni ʻoku ke fokotuʻu, pea kapau te ke ʻalu ʻi heʻeku ngaahi fono, mo fai ʻeku ngaahi fakamaau, pea tauhi ʻa ʻeku ngaahi fekau ke ʻeveʻeva ʻi ai; pehē, te u toki fakamoʻoni ʻa ʻeku lea kiate koe, ʻaia naʻaku lea ʻaki kia Tevita ko hoʻo tamai:
“Concerning this house, which you are building: if you will walk in my precepts, and carry out my judgments, and keep all my commandments, advancing by them, I will confirm my word to you, which I spoke to your father David.
13 pea te u nofo ʻi he lotolotonga ʻoe fānau ʻa ʻIsileli, pea ʻe ʻikai te u liʻaki ʻa hoku kakai ko ʻIsileli.”
And I will dwell in the midst of the sons of Israel, and I will not forsake my people Israel.”
14 Ko ia naʻe langa ʻe Solomone ʻae fale, pea naʻa ne fakaʻosi ia.
And so, Solomon built the house, and finished it.
15 Pea naʻa ne ʻaofi ʻae holisi maka ki loto fale ʻaki ʻae laupapa sita, mei he faliki ʻoe fale ʻo aʻu hake ʻi he holisi maka ki he ʻato: naʻa ne ʻaofi ia ʻaki ʻae ʻakau, pea naʻa ne faliki ʻaki ʻae fale ʻae laupapa, mei he ʻakau ko e paini.
And he built the walls of the house, on the interior, with panels of cedar, from the floor of the house, to the top of the walls, and even to the ceiling. He covered it with cedar wood on the interior. And he overlaid the floor of the house with panels of spruce.
16 Pea naʻa ne ʻaofi ʻae holisi ʻoe fale, ko e hanga ʻe fāngofulu ʻaki ʻae laupapa sita, ʻio, ʻae faliki [ʻoe fale ]pea mo e holisi; naʻa ne ngaohi pehē ia ki loto maʻae folofolaʻanga, pea mo e potu toputapu ʻaupito.
And he built panels of cedar, of twenty cubits, at the back part of the temple, from the floor even to the top. And he made the inner house of the oracle as the Holy of Holies.
And the temple itself, before the doors of the oracle, was forty cubits.
And the entire house was clothed with cedar on the interior, having its turnings and junctures artfully wrought, with carvings projecting outward. Everything was clothed with panels of cedar. And no stone at all was able to be seen in the wall.
Now he made the oracle in the middle of the house, in the inner part, so that he might station the ark of the covenant of the Lord there.
20 Pea ko hono lōloa ʻoe folofolaʻanga ki muʻa ko e hanga ʻe fāngofulu, pea ko hono māukupu ko e hanga ʻe fāngofulu, pea ko hono māʻolunga ʻo ia ko e hanga ʻe fāngofulu: pea naʻa ne ʻufiʻufi ʻaki ia ʻae koula moʻoniia; pea naʻe ʻaofia foki ʻae feilaulauʻanga sita.
And the oracle held twenty cubits in length, and twenty cubits in width, and twenty cubits in height. And he covered and clothed it with the purest gold. Then, too, he clothed the altar in cedar.
Also, the house before the oracle, he covered with the purest gold, and he fastened the plates with nails of gold.
22 Pea naʻa ne ʻufiʻufi ʻaki ʻae koula ʻae fale kātoa, kaeʻoua ke ʻosi ʻae fale kātoa ʻi hono ʻai: pea ko e feilaulauʻanga kātoa naʻe ofi ki he folofolaʻanga, naʻa ne ʻaofi ia ʻaki ʻae koula.
And there was nothing in the temple that was not covered with gold. Moreover, the entire altar of the oracle he overlaid with gold.
23 Pea ʻi he lotolotonga ʻoe folofolaʻanga naʻa ne ngaohi ai ʻae ongo selupi mei he ʻakau ko e ʻolive, ko hona māʻolunga taki taha ko e hanga ʻe uofulu.
And he made in the oracle two cherubim from wood of the olive tree, of ten cubits in height.
24 Pea ko e kapakau ʻe taha ʻoe selupi ko hono lōloa ko e hanga ʻe hongofulu, pea ko e hanga ʻe hongofulu ʻae lōloa ʻoe kapakau ʻoe selupi ʻe taha: mei he mui kapakau ʻe taha ʻo aʻu atu ki he mui kapakau ʻe taha ko hono lōloa ko e hanga ʻe uofulu.
One wing of a cherub was five cubits, and the other wing of a cherub was five cubits, that is, having ten cubits from the summit of one wing even to the summit of the other wing.
25 Pea naʻe uofulu ʻae hanga ʻoe selupi ʻe taha: naʻe tatau pe ʻae ongo selupi ʻi hona fuofua pea mo hona lahi.
Likewise, the second cherub was ten cubits. And the measure was equal and the work was one, in the two cherubim,
26 Ko e māʻolunga ʻoe selupi ʻe taha ko e hanga ʻe uofulu pea ne pehē foki ʻae selupi ʻe taha.
that is, one cherub had a height of ten cubits, and similarly the second cherub.
27 Pea naʻa ne fokotuʻu ʻae ongo selupi ki he potu fale ki loto; pea naʻe mafola atu ʻae kapakau ʻoe ongo selupi, pea naʻe lave ai ʻae kapakau ʻe taha ki he holisi fale, kae lave ʻae kapakau ʻoe selupi ʻe taha ki he holisi ʻe taha; pea naʻe felaveʻi ʻa hona kapakau ʻi loto fale.
And he stationed the cherubim in the middle of the inner temple. And the cherubim extended their wings, and the wing of the one was touching the wall, and the wing of the second cherub was touching the other wall. But the other wings, in the middle of the temple, were touching each another.
He also overlaid the cherubim with gold.
29 Pea naʻa ne tongitongi takatakai ki he ngaahi holisi ʻoe fale ʻae ngaahi fakatātā ki he selupimi, mo e ʻakau ko e ponga, pea mo e ngaahi fisiʻiʻakau kuo tatala, ʻi loto mo tuʻa.
And all the walls of the temple all around he engraved with diverse carvings and turnings. And he made in them cherubim, and palm trees, and various images, as if these were projecting out, and going forth from, the wall.
30 Pea naʻa ne ʻufiʻufi ʻaki ʻae koula ʻae faliki ʻoe fale ʻi loto mo ʻi tuʻa.
Then, too, the floor of the house he overlaid with gold within and without.
31 Pea ki he hūʻanga ʻoe folofolaʻanga naʻa ne ngaohi ʻae ngaahi matapā ʻoe ʻakau ko e ʻolive: ko hono ʻakau fakalava mo e kau matapā ko e konga ʻe nima.
And at the entrance of the oracle, he made little doors, from wood of the olive tree, with posts of five corners.
32 Ko e ongo matapā foki ko e ʻakau ʻolive; pea naʻa ne tongitongi ki ai ʻae fakatātā ki he selupimi, mo e ʻakau ko e ponga, mo e fisiʻiʻakau naʻe matala, pea ne ʻufiʻufi ʻaki ia ʻae koula, mo ne ʻaofi ʻaki ʻae koula ʻae selupimi, pea mo e ngaahi ʻakau ko e ponga.
And there were two doors, from wood of the olive tree. And he carved upon them pictures of cherubim, and images of palm trees, and very prominent figures. And he overlaid these with gold. And he covered the cherubim, as well as the palm trees and the other things, with gold.
33 Naʻe pehē foki ʻa ʻene ngaohi ki he matapā ʻoe falelotu ʻae pou ʻoe ʻakau ko e ʻolive; ko e ponga ʻe fā.
And he made, at the entrance of the temple, posts from wood of the olive tree, with four corners,
34 Pea ko hono matapā ʻe ua naʻe ʻoe ʻakau ko e paini; naʻe faʻa mapelu ʻae potu ʻe ua ʻoe matapā ʻe taha, pea naʻe faʻa mapelu ʻae potu ʻe ua ʻoe matapā kehe ʻe taha.
and two doors, from wood of the spruce tree, on the other side. And each door was double, and so it opened by folding upon itself.
And he carved cherubim, and palm trees, and very prominent engravings. And he covered everything with gold plates, worked to be perfectly square.
36 Pea naʻa ne langa ʻae lotoʻā ki loto ʻaki ʻae ʻotu maka ʻe tolu naʻe teuteuʻi, pea mo e ʻotu ʻe taha ʻoe lalanga sita.
And he built the inner atrium with three rows of polished stones, and one row of cedar wood.
37 Naʻe fakatoka ʻae tuʻunga ʻoe fale ʻo Sihova ʻi hono fā ʻoe taʻu, ʻi he māhina ko Sifi:
In the fourth year, the house of the Lord was founded, in the month of Ziv.
38 Pea ʻi hono hongofulu ma taha ʻoe taʻu, ʻi he māhina ko Puli, ʻaia ko hono valu ʻoe māhina, naʻe fakaʻosi ʻae fale ʻi hono potu kotoa pē, ʻo fakatatau ki hono anga kotoa pē. Ko ia, naʻa ne fitu taʻu ʻi heʻene langa hake ia.
And in the eleventh year, in the month Bul, which is the eighth month, the house was perfected in all its works and in all its equipment. And he built it for seven years.
