1 Pea ko au, ʻe kāinga, ʻi heʻeku ʻalu atu kiate kimoutolu, naʻe ʻikai te u ʻalu atu ʻi he mālie ʻoe lea, pe ʻi he poto, ke fakahā kiate kimoutolu ʻae fakamoʻoni ʻae ʻOtua.

Now, when I cam to you, brethren, I came not with excellency of speech, and of wisdom, declaring to you the testimony of God.

2 He naʻe maʻu hoku loto, ʻe ʻikai te u ʻilo ha meʻa ʻe taha ʻiate kimoutolu, ka ko Sisu Kalaisi, mo hono tutuki ki he ʻakau.

For I determined to make known nothing among you but Jesus Christ, and him crucified.

3 Pea naʻaku ʻiate kimoutolu ʻi he vaivai, mo e manavahē, pea ʻi he tetetete lahi.

And I, in weakness and in fear, and in much trembling, was with you.

4 Pea ko ʻeku lea mo ʻeku malanga, naʻe ʻikai ʻi he ngaahi lea fakaoloolo ʻoe poto ʻoe tangata, kae ʻi he fakamoʻoni ʻoe Laumālie mo e mālohi:

My discourse, also, and my proclamation, were not with persuasive words of human wisdom; but with the demonstration of the Spirit, and of power.

5 Koeʻuhi ke ʻoua naʻa tuʻu ʻi he poto ʻoe tangata hoʻomou tui, ka ʻi he mālohi ʻoe ʻOtua.

That your faith might not stand in the wisdom of men, but in the power of God.

6 Ka ʻoku mau lea ʻaki ʻae poto ʻiate kinautolu ʻoku haohaoa: ka ʻoku ʻikai ko e poto ʻoe māmani, pe ʻoe houʻeiki ʻoe māmani, ʻaia ʻe aʻu ʻo ngata: (aiōn g165)

However, we speak wisdom among the perfect: but not the wisdom of this world; neither of the rulers of this world, who are to be brought to nothing. (aiōn g165)

7 Ka ʻoku mau lea ʻaki ʻae poto lilo ʻoe ʻOtua ʻi he ngāue fufū, ʻaia naʻe tuʻutuʻuni ʻe he ʻOtua ʻi he teʻeki ai tuʻu ʻa māmani, ko hotau leleiʻanga: (aiōn g165)

But we speak the mysterious wisdom of God, which has been till now concealed; which God declared before the time of the ages, should be spoken to our glory. (aiōn g165)

8 ‌ʻAia naʻe ʻikai ʻilo ʻe ha taha ʻoe ngaahi ʻeiki ʻoe māmani: he ka nenau ʻilo ia, pehē, ʻe ʻikai te nau tutuki ki he ʻakau ʻae ʻEiki lāngilangi. (aiōn g165)

Which none of the rulers of this world knew: for if they had known it, they would not have crucified the Lord of glory. (aiōn g165)

9 Kae hangē ko ia kuo tohi, “ʻOku teʻeki ai mamata ʻe ha mata, pe fanongo ʻe ha telinga, Pea ʻoku teʻeki ai hū ki he loto ʻo ha tangata, ʻae ngaahi meʻa ʻaia ʻoku teuteu ʻe he ʻOtua maʻanautolu ʻoku ʻofa kiate ia.”

For, as it is written, "Those things eye has not seen, and ear has not heard, and into the heart of man have not entered, which God has prepared for them who love him."

10 Ka kuo fakahā ia ʻe he ʻOtua kiate kitautolu ʻaki hono Laumālie: he ʻoku hakule ʻe he Laumālie ʻae ngaahi meʻa kotoa pē, ʻio, ʻae ngaahi meʻa loloto ʻi he ʻOtua.

But God has revealed them to us by his Spirit; for the Spirit searches all things, even the deep things of God.

11 He ko hai ha tangata ʻoku ne ʻilo ʻae ngaahi meʻa ʻae tangata, ka ko e laumālie pe ʻoe tangata ʻoku ʻiate ia? Pea ʻoku pehē, ʻoku ʻikai ha tangata ʻoku ne ʻilo ʻae ngaahi meʻa ʻae ʻOtua, ka ko e Laumālie pe ʻoe ʻOtua.

For who, of men, knows the thoughts of a man, except the spirit of man which is in him: so, also, the thoughts of God no man knows, but the Spirit of God.

12 Pea ko eni, ʻoku ʻikai ko e laumālie ʻo māmani kuo tau maʻu, ka ko e laumālie ʻoku mei he ʻOtua; koeʻuhi ke tau ʻilo ʻae ngaahi meʻa kuo foaki mataʻataʻatā pe kiate kitautolu ʻe he ʻOtua.

Now, we have received, not the spirit of the world, but the Spirit which comes from God, that we might know the things which are gifted to us by God.

13 ‌ʻAe ngaahi meʻa ko ia ʻoku mau lea ki ai, kae ʻikai ʻi he ngaahi lea ʻoku ako mai ʻe he poto ʻoe tangata, ka ko ia ʻoku ako ʻaki ʻe he Laumālie Māʻoniʻoni; ʻo fakamatala ʻae meʻa fakalaumālie ʻaki ʻae meʻa fakalaumālie.

Which things, also, we speak, not in words, taught by human wisdom; but in words taught by the Spirit, explaining spiritual things in spiritual words.

14 Ka ʻoku ʻikai maʻu ʻe he tangata fakakakano ʻae ngaahi meʻa ʻoe Laumālie ʻoe ʻOtua: he ko e vale ia kiate ia: pea ʻoku ʻikai te ne faʻa ʻilo ia, he ʻoku ʻilo fakalaumālie pe ia.

Now, an animal man receives not the thing of the Spirit of God: for they are foolishness to him; neither can he know them, because they are spiritually examined.

15 Ka ko ia ʻoku fakalaumālie ʻoku ne ʻiloʻi ʻae meʻa kotoa pē, ka ʻoku ʻikai faʻa ʻiloʻi ia ʻe ha taha.

But the spiritual man examines, indeed, all things, yet he is examined by no one.

16 “He ko hai ʻoku ne ʻilo ʻae finangalo ʻoe ʻEiki, koeʻuhi ke ne akonakiʻi ia?” Ka ʻoku tau maʻu ʻae finangalo ʻo Kalaisi.

For what animal man has known the mind of the Lord, who will instruct him? But we have the mind of Christ.
