< 1 Meʻa Hokohoko 17 >
1 Pea naʻe hoko ʻo pehē, lolotonga ʻae nofo ʻa Tevita ʻi hono fale, naʻe pehē ʻe Tevita kia Natani ko e palōfita, “Vakai, ʻoku ou nofo au ʻi ha fale sita, ka ʻoku nofo ʻae puha ʻoe fuakava ʻa Sihova ʻi he lalo puipui [pe].”
Nowe afterward when Dauid dwelt in his house, he saide to Nathan the Prophet, Beholde, I dwell in an house of cedar trees, but the Arke of the Lordes couenant remaineth vnder curtaines.
2 Pea naʻe toki pehē ʻe Natani kia Tevita, “Ke ke fai ʻae meʻa kotoa pē ʻoku ʻi ho loto; he ʻoku kau ʻae ʻOtua kiate koe.”
Then Nathan said to Dauid, Do all that is in thine heart: for God is with thee.
3 Pea naʻe hoko ʻo pehē, ʻi he pō pe ko ia, naʻe hoko mai ʻae folofola ʻae ʻOtua kia Natani, ʻo pehē,
And the same night euen the word of God came to Nathan, saying,
4 “ʻAlu, ʻo fakahā kia Tevita ko ʻeku tamaioʻeiki, ‘ʻOku pehē ʻe Sihova, ʻE ʻikai te ke langa ha fale kiate au ke u nofo ai:
Goe, and tell Dauid my seruant, Thus saith the Lord, Thou shalt not buylde me an house to dwell in:
5 He kuo ʻikai te u nofo ʻi ha fale talu mei he ʻaho naʻaku ʻomi ai ʻa ʻIsileli ʻo aʻu mai ki he ʻaho ni; ka kuo u feʻaluʻaki ʻi he ngaahi fale fehikitaki, pea mo e fale fakaʻāunofo.
For I haue dwelt in no house, since the day that I brought out the childre of Israel vnto this daye, but I haue bene from tent to tent, and from habitation to habitation.
6 ʻI he potu kotoa pē kuo u ʻalu ki ai mo ʻIsileli kātoa, kuo u lea fakasiʻisiʻi ki ha tokotaha ʻi he kau fakamaau ʻo ʻIsileli, ʻakinautolu naʻaku fekauʻi he fafangaʻi ʻa hoku kakai, ʻo pehē, Ko e hā ʻoku ʻikai ai te mou langa moʻoku ha fale sita?’
Wheresoeuer I haue walked with all Israel spake I one word to any of the iudges of Israel (whome I commanded to feede my people) saying, Why haue ye not built mee an house of cedar trees?
7 Ko ia foki, te ke lea ʻo pehē ki heʻeku tamaioʻeiki ko Tevita, ‘ʻOku pehē ʻe Sihova ʻoe ngaahi tokolahi, naʻaku toʻo mai koe mei he nofoʻanga ʻoe fanga sipi, mei he muimui ki he fanga sipi, koeʻuhi ke ke pule ki hoku kakai ʻIsileli:
Nowe therefore thus shalt thou say vnto my seruant Dauid, Thus saith the Lord of hostes, I tooke thee from the sheepecoat and from following the sheepe, that thou shouldest bee a prince ouer my people Israel.
8 Pea kuo u ʻiate koe ʻi he potu fulipē kuo ke ʻalu ki ai, pea kuo u motuhi ʻa ho ngaahi fili kotoa pē mei ho ʻao, pea kuo u ngaohi moʻou ha hingoa ke tatau mo e hingoa ʻoe kakai ongoongo lahi ʻaia ʻoku ʻi māmani.
And I haue bene with thee whithersoeuer thou hast walked, and haue destroyed all thine enemies out of thy sight, and haue made thee a name, like the name of the great men that are in the earth.
9 Pea te u vaheʻi foki ha potu mā ʻa hoku kakai ʻIsileli, pea te u tō ʻakinautolu, pea te nau nofo ʻi honau potu, pea ʻe ʻikai toe hiki ʻakinautolu; pea ʻe ʻikai toe maumauʻi ʻakinautolu ʻe he fānau ʻoe angakovi, ʻo hangē ko ia naʻe fai ʻi he kamataʻanga,
(Also I will appoynt a place for my people Israel, and will plant it, that they may dwell in their place, and moue no more: neither shall the wicked people vexe them any more, as at the beginning,
10 Pea talu mei he kuonga ko ia naʻaku fekauʻi ʻae kau fakamaau ke pule ki hoku kakai ʻIsileli. Ka te u fakamoʻulaloa foki ʻa ho ngaahi fili kotoa pē. Pea ʻoku ou tala foki kiate koe ʻe langa hake ho fale ʻoʻou ʻe Sihova.
And since the time that I commanded iudges ouer my people Israel) And I wil subdue all thine enemies: therefore I say vnto thee, that the Lord wil buylde thee an house.
And when thy dayes shalbe fulfilled to go with thy fathers, then will I rayse vp thy seede after thee, which shalbe of thy sonnes, and will stablish his kingdome.
12 Te ne langa ʻe ia ha fale moʻoku, pea te u fokotuʻumaʻu ʻa hono nofoʻa fakatuʻi ke taʻengata.
He shall builde me an house, and I will stablish his throne for euer.
13 Te u hoko ko ʻene tamai, pea te ne hoko ia ko hoku foha: pea ʻe ʻikai te u ʻave ʻa ʻeku ʻaloʻofa meiate ia, ʻo hangē ko ʻeku ʻave ia meiate ia naʻe muʻa ʻiate koe:
I wil be his father, and he shalbe my sonne, aud I will not take my mercie away from him, as I tooke it from him that was before thee.
14 Ka te u fokotuʻumaʻu ia ʻi hoku fale pea ʻi hoku puleʻanga ʻo taʻengata: pea ʻe fokotuʻumaʻu ʻa hono nofoʻa fakatuʻi ʻo taʻengata.’”
But I wil establish him in mine house, and in my kingdome for euer, and his throne shalbe stablished for euer,
15 Pea naʻe fai ʻae lea ʻa Natani kia Tevita ʻo tatau mo e ngaahi lea ni kotoa pē, pea tatau mo e meʻa ha mai ni kotoa pē.
According to all these wordes, and according to al this vision. So Nathan spake to Dauid.
16 Pea naʻe haʻu ʻa Tevita ko e tuʻi ʻo ne nofo ʻi he ʻao ʻo Sihova, ʻo ne pehē, “Ko hai au, ʻE Sihova ko e ʻOtua, pea ko e hā ʻa hoku fale ʻoʻoku, kuo ke ʻomi ai au ʻo aʻu mai ki heni?
And Dauid the King went in and sate before the Lord and said, Who am I, O Lord God, and what is mine house, that thou hast brought me hitherto?
17 Ka ko e meʻa siʻi eni ki ho fofonga, ʻe ʻOtua; he kuo ke folofola ki he fale ʻo hoʻo tamaioʻeiki ki ha kuonga fuoloa ʻaupito ʻe haʻu, pea kuo ke fai kiate au, ʻe Sihova ko e ʻOtua, ʻo hangē ko ha tangata ʻoku ʻeiki lahi.
Yet thou esteeming this a small thing, O God, hast also spoken concerning the house of thy seruaut for a great while, and hast regarded me according to the estate of a man of hie degree, O Lord God.
18 Ko e hā ha toe lea ʻe faʻa fai ʻe Tevita maʻae ongoongolelei ʻo hoʻo tamaioʻeiki? He ʻoku ke ʻilo ʻe koe ʻa hoʻo tamaioʻeiki.
What can Dauid desire more of thee for the honour of thy seruant? for thou knowest thy seruant.
19 ʻE Sihova, koeʻuhi ko hoʻo tamaioʻeiki, pea ʻo hangē ko ho finangalo pe ʻoʻou, kuo ke fai ʻae meʻa lahi ni kotoa pē, ʻi hoʻo fakahā mai ʻae ngaahi meʻa lahi ni.
O Lord, for thy seruantes sake, euen according to thine heart hast thou done all this great thing to declare all magnificence.
Lord, there is none like thee, neither is there any God besides thee, according to all that we haue heard with our eares.
21 Pea kofaʻā ia ha puleʻanga ʻe taha ʻi māmani kuo tatau mo hoʻo kakai ʻIsileli, ʻaia naʻe ʻalu ai ʻae ʻOtua ke huhuʻi ko hono kakai ʻoʻona, ke ngaohi koe ko e hingoa lahi mo fakamanavahē ʻia, ko e meʻa ʻi heʻene kapusi atu ʻae ngaahi puleʻanga mei he ʻao ʻo hoʻo kakai, ʻakinautolu kuo ke huhuʻi mai mei ʻIsipite?
Moreouer what one nation in the earth is like thy people Israel, whose God went to redeeme them to be his people, and to make thy selfe a Name, and to doe great and terrible things by casting out nations from before thy people, whom thou hast deliuered out of Egypt?
22 He naʻa ke ngaohi ʻa hoʻo kakai ʻIsileli, ko ho kakai ʻoʻou ke taʻengata; pea ko koe, ʻE Sihova, naʻa ke hoko ko honau ʻOtua.
For thou hast ordeined thy people Israel to be thine owne people for euer, and thou Lord art become their God.
23 Ko ia foki, ʻE Sihova, tuku ʻae meʻa kuo ke folofolaʻaki ki hoʻo tamaioʻeiki, pea mo hono fale, ke fokotuʻumaʻu ʻo taʻengata, pea ke fai ʻo hangē ko hoʻo folofola.
Therefore nowe Lord, let the thing that thou hast spoken concerning thy seruant and concerning his house, be confirmed for euer, and doe as thou hast sayd,
And let thy name be stable and magnified for euer, that it may be sayd, The Lord of hostes, God of Israel, is the God of Israel, and let the house of Dauid thy seruant bee stablished before thee.
25 He ko koe, ʻE hoku ʻOtua, kuo ke fakahā ki hoʻo tamaioʻeiki te ke langa ha fale moʻona: ko ia kuo loto ai ʻa hoʻo tamaioʻeiki ke lotu ʻi ho ʻao.
For thou, O my God, hast reueiled vnto the eare of thy seruant, that thou wilt builde him an house: therefore thy seruant hath bene bolde to pray before thee.
26 Pea ko eni, ʻE Sihova, ko koe ko e ʻOtua, pea kuo ke talaʻofa ʻaki ʻae lelei ni ki hoʻo tamaioʻeiki:
Therefore nowe Lord (for thou art God, and hast spoken this goodnesse vnto thy seruant)
27 Ko ia foki, ʻofa ke ke tāpuaki ʻae fale ʻo hoʻo tamaioʻeiki, koeʻuhi ke ʻi ho ʻao ia maʻuaipē; he ʻoku ke fai hono tāpuakiʻi ʻe koe, ʻE Sihova, pea ʻe monūʻia ia ʻo taʻengata.”
Now therfore, it hath pleased thee to blesse the house of thy seruant, that it may bee before thee for euer: for thou, O Lord, hast blessed it, and it shalbe blessed for euer.
