1 Ka ko eni, naʻe kouna atu ʻe Helami ko e tuʻi ʻo Taia ʻae kau talafekau kia Tevita, ke [ʻave ]ʻae ngaahi taʻanga sita, mo e kau tufunga maka, mo e kau tufunga ʻakau, ke langa ha fale moʻona.
Now Hiram king of Tyre sent envoys to David, along with cedar logs, stonemasons, and carpenters, to build a palace for him.
2 Pea naʻe ʻilo ʻe Tevita kuo fakapapau meia Sihova ke tuʻi ia ki ʻIsileli, he naʻe hakeakiʻi ke māʻolunga ʻa hono puleʻanga, koeʻuhi ko ʻene kakai ʻIsileli.
And David realized that the LORD had established him as king over Israel and had highly exalted his kingdom for the sake of His people Israel.
3 Pea naʻe toe fakatokolahi ʻe Tevita ʻa hono ngaahi uaifi ʻi Selūsalema: pea naʻe toe tupu ʻia Tevita ʻae ngaahi foha mo e ngaahi ʻofefine kehe.
And David took more wives in Jerusalem and became the father of more sons and daughters.
4 Ko eni ia ʻae hingoa ʻoe fānau naʻa ne maʻu ʻi Selūsalema: ko Samua, mo Sopapi, mo Natani, mo Solomone,
These are the names of the children born to him in Jerusalem: Shammua, Shobab, Nathan, Solomon,
5 Mo Ipia, mo ʻIlisua, mo Ilifileti,
Ibhar, Elishua, Elpelet,
6 Mo Noka, mo Nefeki, mo Safia,
Nogah, Nepheg, Japhia,
7 Mo ʻIlisama, mo Peliata, mo Ilifileti.
Elishama, Beeliada, and Eliphelet.
8 Pea ʻi he fanongo ʻe he kakai Filisitia kuo fakanofo ʻa Tevita ko e tuʻi ki ʻIsileli kātoa, naʻe ʻalu hake ʻae kakai Filisitia kotoa pē ke kumi kia Tevita. Pea naʻe fanongo ki ai ʻa Tevita, pea naʻa ne ʻalu atu ke talia ʻakinautolu.
When the Philistines heard that David had been anointed king over all Israel, they all went in search of him; but David learned of this and went out to face them.
9 Pea naʻe haʻu ʻae kakai Filisitia mo nau fakamafola atu ʻakinautolu ʻi he potu talalo ʻo Lifemi.
Now the Philistines had come and raided the Valley of Rephaim.
So David inquired of God, “Should I go up against the Philistines? Will You deliver them into my hand?” “Go,” replied the LORD, “for I will deliver them into your hand.”
So David and his men went up to Baal-perazim, where he defeated the Philistines and said, “Like a bursting flood, God has burst out against my enemies by my hand.” So they called that place Baal-perazim.
12 Pea ʻi heʻenau tuku ʻa honau ngaahi tamapua ʻi ai, naʻe fekau ʻe Tevita, pea naʻe tutu ʻakinautolu ʻi he afi.
There the Philistines abandoned their gods, and David ordered that they be burned in the fire.
13 Pea naʻe toe [haʻu ]ʻae kakai Filisitia ʻo fakamafola atu ʻakinautolu ʻi he potu talalo.
Once again the Philistines raided the valley.
14 Ko ia naʻe toe fehuʻi ai ʻe Tevita ki he ʻOtua; pea naʻe pehē ʻe he ʻOtua kiate ia, “ʻOua naʻa ke ʻalu hake kiate kinautolu; foki atu meiate kinautolu, pea hoko mai kiate kinautolu ʻi he potu ʻoku feʻunga tonu mo e vaoʻakau molipeli.
So David again inquired of God, who answered him, “Do not march up after them, but circle around them and attack them in front of the balsam trees.
15 Pea ʻe hoko ʻo pehē, ʻoka ke ka ongoʻi ʻae mumuhu ʻi he ʻuluʻi ʻakau molipeli, te ke toki ʻalu atu ki he tau: koeʻuhi kuo muʻomuʻa atu ʻiate koe ʻae ʻOtua ke ne teʻia ʻae tau ʻae kakai Filisitia.”
As soon as you hear the sound of marching in the tops of the balsam trees, move out to battle, because this will mean that God has marched out before you to strike the camp of the Philistines.”
16 Ko ia naʻe fai ʻe Tevita ʻo hangē ko ia naʻe fekau kiate ia ʻe he ʻOtua: pea naʻa nau teʻia ʻae kautau ʻoe kakai Filisitia mei Kipione ʻo aʻu atu ki Kesa.
So David did as God had commanded him, and they struck down the army of the Philistines all the way from Gibeon to Gezer.
17 Pea naʻe mafola atu ʻae ongoongo ʻo Tevita ki he ngaahi fonua kotoa pē; pea naʻe fakahoko ʻe Sihova ʻae manavahē kiate ia ki he ngaahi puleʻanga kotoa pē.
And David’s fame went out into every land, and the LORD caused all nations to fear him.
