1 ౧ కుమారా, నేను బోధించే జ్ఞానవాక్కులు విను. నా తెలివి గల మాటలు శ్రద్ధగా ఆలకించు.

My son, attend unto my wisdom; incline thine ear to my understanding:

2 ౨ అప్పుడు నువ్వు జ్ఞానయుక్తంగా నడుచుకుంటావు. నీ తెలివితేటలను బట్టి నీ నోరు మాట్లాడుతుంది.

That thou mayest preserve discretion, and that thy lips may keep knowledge.

3 ౩ వ్యభిచారిణి పెదవుల నుండి తేనెలాంటి మాటలు వెలువడతాయి. దాని నోటి మాటలు నూనె కంటే మృదువుగా ఉంటాయి.

For the lips of a strange woman drop honey, and her mouth is smoother than oil:

4 ౪ చివరికి ఆమె వసనాభి కాయలాగా ఉంటుంది. రెండంచుల కత్తి వలే ఉంటుంది.

But her latter end is bitter as wormwood, sharp as a two-edged sword.

5 ౫ దాని ప్రవర్తన మరణంలో పడిపోవడానికి దారితీస్తుంది. దాని మార్గం సూటిగా పాతాళానికి చేరుస్తుంది. (Sheol h7585)

Her feet go down to death; her steps take hold on Sheol; (Sheol h7585)

6 ౬ జీవమార్గం గురించి వ్యభిచారిణి ఎంతమాత్రం ఆలోచించదు. ఆమె ఎటు వెళ్తుందో ఆమెకే తెలియక అటూ ఇటూ సంచరిస్తుంది.

So that she findeth not the level path of life: her ways are unstable [and] she knoweth [it] not.

7 ౭ కుమారులారా, నేను చెప్పే బోధ ఆలకించండి. నేను చెప్పే ఉపదేశం నుండి పక్కకు మళ్ళుకోవద్దు.

Now therefore, [my] sons, hearken unto me, and depart not from the words of my mouth.

8 ౮ వ్యభిచారిణి నివసించే స్థలాల నుండి నీ అడుగులు దూరం చేసుకో. ఆమె యింటి వాకిలి వైపు పోవద్దు.

Remove thy way far from her, and come not nigh the door of her house:

9 ౯ నువ్వు గనుక వ్యభిచారిణి దగ్గరికి వెళ్లిన పక్షంలో నీ ప్రతిష్ట నవ్వుల పాలౌతుంది. నీ జీవిత కాలమంతా దుష్టుల చేతిల్లోకి వెళ్తుంది.

Lest thou give thine honour unto others, and thy years unto the cruel:

10 ౧౦ అన్యులు నీ ఆస్తిని అనుభవిస్తారు. నీ కష్టార్జితమంతా పరుల ఇల్లు చేరుతుంది.

Lest strangers be filled with thy strength; and thy labours [be] in the house of an alien;

11 ౧౧ చివరికి నీ కండరాలు, నీ శరీరం క్షీణించిపోతాయి.

And thou mourn at thy latter end, when thy flesh and thy body are consumed,

12 ౧౨ అప్పుడు నువ్వు, అయ్యో, ఉపదేశాన్ని నేనెందుకు లక్ష్యపెట్టలేదు? నా మనస్సాక్షి గద్దింపును ఎందుకు తిరస్కరించాను?

And say, How have I hated instruction, and my heart despised reproof;

13 ౧౩ నా బోధకులు చెప్పిన మంచి మాటలు వినలేకపోయాను. నా గురువుల ఉపదేశాలను పట్టించుకోలేదు.

Neither have I obeyed the voice of my teachers, nor inclined mine ear to them that instructed me!

14 ౧౪ సమాజంలో నేను అన్ని రకాల కీడులకు దగ్గరగా వచ్చాను, అని నీకు నువ్వు చెప్పుకుంటూ మధనపడతావు.

I was well nigh in all evil in the midst of the congregation and assembly.

15 ౧౫ నీ ఇంటి బావిలో ఉబుకుతున్న నీళ్ళు, నీ సొంత కుండలోని నీళ్లు తాగు.

Drink waters out of thine own cistern, and running waters out of thine own well.

16 ౧౬ నీ ఇంట ఉబికే నీటి ఊటలు బయటికి పారవచ్చా? అవి కాలువల్లాగా వీధుల్లో ప్రవహించవచ్చా?

Should thy springs be dispersed abroad, and rivers of water in the streets?

17 ౧౭ పరాయి వ్యక్తులు నీతోబాటు వాటిని అనుభవించకూడదు. ఆ నీరు నీ కోసమే ఉండాలి గదా.

Let them be for thyself alone, and not for strangers with thee.

18 ౧౮ నీ జలాశయం దీవెనలు పొందుతుంది. నీ యవ్వన కాలంలో పెళ్ళాడిన నీ భార్యతో సంతోషించు.

Let thy fountain be blessed; and rejoice in the wife of thy youth.

19 ౧౯ ఆమె నీకు రమణీయమైన లేడి వంటిది. అందమైన దుప్పిలాంటిది. ఆమె రొమ్ములు నీకు ఎల్లప్పుడూ తృప్తి కలిగించనియ్యి. ఆమె ప్రేమకు బద్ధుడివై చిరకాలం జీవించు.

[As] a loving hind and a pleasant doe, let her breasts satisfy thee at all times; and be thou ravished always with her love.

20 ౨౦ కుమారా, నువ్వు ఎందుకు వ్యభిచారిణి వలలో పడిపోయి ఉంటావు? ఆమె రొమ్మును ఎందుకు కౌగలించుకుంటావు?

For why shouldest thou, my son, be ravished with a strange woman, and embrace the bosom of a stranger?

21 ౨౧ మనుషుల ప్రవర్తన యెహోవాకు తెలుసు. వారి నడతలన్నిటినీ ఆయన గుర్తిస్తాడు.

For the ways of man are before the eyes of the LORD, and he maketh level all his paths.

22 ౨౨ దుష్టుడు చేసే పనులు వాణ్ణి ఇరకాటంలో పడవేస్తాయి. వాడు తన పాప కార్యాల వల్ల శిక్షకు గురౌతాడు.

His own iniquities shall take the wicked, and he shall be holden with the cords of his sin.

23 ౨౩ అలాంటివాడు క్రమశిక్షణ లేకపోవడం వల్ల పరమ మూర్ఖుడై దారి తప్పి నాశనానికి గురౌతాడు.

He shall die for lack of instruction; and in the greatness of his folly he shall go astray.
