సామెతలు 12

1 ౧ జ్ఞానం కోరుకున్నవాడు గద్దింపుకు లోబడతాడు. దిద్దుబాటును తిరస్కరించేవాడు పశువుతో సమానం.

Whoso loveth knowledge loveth correction; but he that is brutish hateth reproof.

2 ౨ నీతిమంతుణ్ణి యెహోవా దయతో చూస్తాడు. చెడ్డ తలంపులు మనసులో ఉంచుకున్నవాణ్ణి ఆయన నేరస్తుడిగా ఎంచుతాడు.

A good man shall obtain favour of the LORD; but a man of wicked devices will He condemn.

3 ౩ దుర్మార్గుల వలన అందరూ అల్లకల్లోలం అవుతారు. నీతిమంతుల పునాదులు స్థిరంగా ఉంటాయి.

A man shall not be established by wickedness; but the root of the righteous shall never be moved.

4 ౪ యోగ్యురాలైన భార్య తన భర్తకు కిరీటం వంటిది. భర్తకు సిగ్గు కలిగించే ఇల్లాలు అతని ఎముకలకు పట్టిన కుళ్లు.

A virtuous woman is a crown to her husband; but she that doeth shamefully is as rottenness in his bones.

5 ౫ నీతిమంతులు చెప్పే ఆలోచనలు న్యాయసమ్మతం. దుర్మార్గుల సలహాలు మోసంతో కూడినవి.

The thoughts of the righteous are right; but the counsels of the wicked are deceit.

6 ౬ దుర్మార్గుల మాటలు హత్య చేయడానికి కాపు కాసి ఉన్న హంతకుల వంటివి. యథార్థపరుల మాట వల్ల వాళ్ళు విడుదల పొందుతారు.

The words of the wicked are to lie in wait for blood; but the mouth of the upright shall deliver them.

7 ౭ దుర్మార్గులు పాడైపోయి లోకంలో లేకుండా పోతారు. నీతిమంతుల నివాసం స్థిరంగా నిలుస్తుంది.

The wicked are overthrown, and are not; but the house of the righteous shall stand.

8 ౮ ఒక్కొక్క మనిషి తన బుద్ధి కుశలతను బట్టి ఘనత పొందుతాడు. కపట వర్తనుడు తిరస్కారానికి గురౌతాడు.

A man shall be commended according to his intelligence; but he that is of a distorted understanding shall be despised.

9 ౯ తినడానికి లేకపోయినా తన గురించి గొప్పలు చెప్పుకునేవాడి కంటే ఎదో ఒక చిన్న పని-సేవకుడుగా అయినా సరే-చేసుకుంటూ ఉండడం మంచిది.

Better is he that is lightly esteemed, and hath a servant, than he that playeth the man of rank, and lacketh bread.

10 ౧౦ ఉత్తముడు తమ పశువుల ప్రాణాల పట్ల దయ చూపుతాడు. దుష్టులు చూపించే ప్రేమ క్రూరత్వమే.

A righteous man regardeth the life of his beast; but the tender mercies of the wicked are cruel.

11 ౧౧ తన భూమిని సేద్యం చేసుకునే వాడికి ఆహారం సమృద్ధిగా దొరుకుతుంది. బుద్ధిహీనుడు వ్యర్థమైన వాటిని అనుసరిస్తాడు.

He that tilleth his ground shall have plenty of bread; but he that followeth after vain things is void of understanding.

12 ౧౨ దుర్మార్గులు చెడ్డవారికి దొరికిన దోపుడు సొమ్ము కోసం ఆశపడతారు. నీతిమంతుల ఉనికి వర్ధిల్లుతుంది.

The wicked desireth the prey of evil men; but the root of the righteous yieldeth fruit.

13 ౧౩ వ్యర్ధమైన మాటల వల్ల కలిగే దోషం ప్రాణాంతకమైన ఉరి వంటిది. నీతిమంతులు ఆపదలను తప్పించుకుంటారు.

In the transgression of the lips is a snare to the evil man; but the righteous cometh out of trouble.

14 ౧౪ మనిషి తన నోటి మాటల ఫలం మూలంగా మంచితనంతో తృప్తి పొందుతాడు. ఎవరు చేసే పనులను బట్టి వాళ్ళకు ఫలితం దక్కుతుంది.

A man shall be satisfied with good by the fruit of his mouth, and the doings of a man's hands shall be rendered unto him.

15 ౧౫ మూర్ఖుడు నడిచే మార్గం వాడి దృష్టికి సరియైనదిగా అనిపిస్తుంది. జ్ఞానం గలవాడు మంచి మాటలు ఆలకిస్తాడు.

The way of a fool is straight in his own eyes; but he that is wise hearkeneth unto counsel.

16 ౧౬ మూర్ఖుల కోపం వెంటనే బయట పడుతుంది. వివేకం గలవాడు తనకు జరిగిన అవమానం వెల్లడి పరచక మౌనం వహిస్తాడు.

A fool's vexation is presently known; but a prudent man concealeth shame.

17 ౧౭ సత్యం కోసం నిలబడేవాడు నీతిగల మాటలు పలుకుతాడు. అబద్ద సాక్ష్యం పలికేవాడు కపటపు మాటలు పలుకుతాడు.

He that breatheth forth truth uttereth righteousness; but a false witness deceit.

18 ౧౮ కత్తిపోటులాంటి మాటలు పలికే వాళ్ళు ఉన్నారు. జ్ఞానుల మాటలు ఆరోగ్యం కలిగిస్తాయి.

There is that speaketh like the piercings of a sword; but the tongue of the wise is health.

19 ౧౯ నిజాలు పలికే పెదవులు ఎప్పటికీ స్థిరంగా ఉంటాయి. అబద్ధాలు పలికే నాలుక ఉనికి క్షణకాలం.

The lip of truth shall be established for ever; but a lying tongue is but for a moment.

20 ౨౦ కీడు తలపెట్టేవాళ్ళ హృదయాల్లో మోసం ఉంటుంది. శాంతి కోసం సలహాలు ఇచ్చేవాళ్ళకు సంతోషం కలుగుతుంది.

Deceit is in the heart of them that devise evil; but to the counsellors of peace is joy.

21 ౨౧ నీతిమంతులకు ఎలాంటి హానీ జరగదు. దుర్మార్గులను కష్టాలు వెంటాడుతుంటాయి.

There shall no mischief befall the righteous; but the wicked are filled with evil.

22 ౨౨ అబద్ధాలు పలికే పెదవులంటే యెహోవాకు అసహ్యం. నిజాయితీపరులను ఆయన ప్రేమిస్తాడు.

Lying lips are an abomination to the LORD; but they that deal truly are His delight.

23 ౨౩ వివేకం ఉన్నవాడు తన ప్రతిభను దాచిపెడతాడు. తెలివితక్కువ వాళ్ళు తమ మూర్ఖత్వాన్ని బయట పెడతారు.

A prudent man concealeth knowledge; but the heart of fools proclaimeth foolishness.

24 ౨౪ ఒళ్ళువంచి పనిచేసే వాళ్ళు అధికారం సంపాదిస్తారు. సోమరిపోతులు ఊడిగం చెయ్యాల్సి వస్తుంది.

The hand of the diligent shall bear rule; but the slothful shall be under tribute.

25 ౨౫ విచారం నిండిన హృదయం క్రుంగిపోతుంది. దయగల మంచి మాట హృదయానికి సంతోషం కలిగిస్తుంది.

Care in the heart of a man boweth it down; but a good word maketh it glad.

26 ౨౬ ఉత్తముడు తన పొరుగువాడు సన్మార్గంలో నడిచేలా చేస్తాడు. దుర్మార్గుల దుష్ట ప్రవర్తన మూలంగా వారు దారి తప్పిపోతారు.

The righteous is guided by his friend; but the way of the wicked leadeth them astray.

27 ౨౭ సోమరిపోతు వేటకు వెళ్ళినా ఏమీ పట్టుకోలేడు. చురుకుదనం కలిగి ఉండడం గొప్ప వరం.

The slothful man shall not hunt his prey; but the precious substance of men is to be diligent.

28 ౨౮ నీతిమార్గంలో జీవం ఉంది. జీవమార్గంలో మరణం అనేది ఉండదు.

In the way of righteousness is life, and in the pathway thereof there is no death.
