1 ౧ హేరోదు రాజు పరిపాలించే రోజుల్లో యూదయ ప్రాంతంలోని బేత్లెహేము అనే ఊరిలో యేసు పుట్టిన తరువాత తూర్పు దేశాల నుండి జ్ఞానులు కొందరు యెరూషలేముకు వచ్చి,
After the birth of Jesus, at Bethlehem of Judea, in the reign of King Herod, certain eastern magians came to Jerusalem, and inquired,
2 ౨ “యూదుల రాజుగా జన్మించినవాడు ఎక్కడ ఉన్నాడు? తూర్పున మేము ఆయన నక్షత్రాన్ని చూశాం. ఆయనను ఆరాధించడానికి వచ్చాం” అన్నారు.
Where is the new-born King of the Jews; for we have seen his star in the east country, and are coming to do him homage?
King Herod hearing this, was alarmed, and all Jerusalem with him.
4 ౪ కాబట్టి రాజు ప్రజల ప్రధాన యాజకులను, ధర్మశాస్త్రజ్ఞులను అందరినీ పిలిపించి, “క్రీస్తు ఎక్కడ పుట్టవలసి ఉంది?” అని వారిని అడిగాడు.
And having assembled all the chief priests and the scribes of the people, he demanded of them where the Messiah should be born.
They answered, at Bethlehem of Judea, for thus it is written by the Prophet,
6 ౬ ‘యూదయ ప్రాంతపు బేత్లెహేము గ్రామమా! యూదా ప్రముఖ పట్టణాలలో నువ్వు దేనికీ తీసిపోవు. నా ఇశ్రాయేలు ప్రజలను కాపరిగా పాలించేవాడు నీలోనే పుడతాడు’ అని ప్రవక్తలు రాశారు” అని చెప్పారు.
"And thou Bethlehem, in the canton of Judah, are not the least illustrious among the cities of Judah; for out of thee shall come a ruler, who will govern my people Israel."
7 ౭ అప్పుడు హేరోదు ఆ జ్ఞానులను రహస్యంగా పిలిపించి, ఆ నక్షత్రం కనిపించిన కచ్చితమైన సమయం వారి ద్వారా తెలుసుకున్నాడు.
Then Herod having secretly called the magians, procured from them exact information concerning the time of the star's appearing.
8 ౮ తరవాత వారిని బేత్లెహేముకు పంపుతూ, “మీరు వెళ్ళి, ఆ బిడ్డ కోసం జాగ్రత్తగా వెదకండి. మీరు ఆయనను కనుగొన్నాక నాకు చెప్పండి. అప్పుడు నేనూ వచ్చి ఆయనను ఆరాధిస్తాను” అని చెప్పాడు.
And sending them to Bethlehem, he said, Go, make an exact inquiry about the child; and when you have found him bring me word, that I may go also, and pay him homage.
9 ౯ వారు రాజు మాట విని బయలుదేరి వెళ్తుంటే, తూర్పున వారికి కనిపించిన నక్షత్రం వారి ముందు వెళుతూ ఆ బిడ్డ ఉన్న స్థలంపైన ఆగింది.
Having heard the King, they departed; and lo! the star which had appeared to them in the east country, moved before them, till it came, and stood over the place, where the child was.
When they again saw the star, they rejoiced exceedingly.
11 ౧౧ ఇంట్లోకి వెళ్ళి బిడ్డనూ ఆయన తల్లి మరియనూ చూసి సాష్టాంగపడి ఆరాధించారు. తమ పెట్టెలు విప్పి బంగారం, సాంబ్రాణి, బోళం కానుకలుగా ఆయనకు బహూకరించారు.
And being come into the house, they found the child with Mary his mother; and, prostrating themselves, did him homage. Then opening their caskets, they offered, as presents to him, gold, frankincense, and myrrh.
12 ౧౨ హేరోదు దగ్గరికి తిరిగి వెళ్ళవద్దని దేవుడు వారిని కలలో హెచ్చరించినందువల్ల వారు వేరే దారిన తమ స్వదేశం వెళ్ళిపోయారు.
And being warned in a dream not to return to Herod, they went home another way.
13 ౧౩ వారు వెళ్ళిన తరువాత ప్రభువు దూత యోసేపుకు కలలో కనిపించి, “లేచి బాలుణ్ణీ, తల్లినీ తీసుకుని ఐగుప్తుకు పారిపో. నేను నీకు మళ్ళీ చెప్పే వరకూ అక్కడే ఉండు. ఎందుకంటే హేరోదు ఈ బాలుణ్ణి చంపాలని వెదకబోతున్నాడు” అని అతనితో చెప్పాడు.
When they were gone, lo! a messenger of the Lord appearing to Joseph in a dream, said, Arise, take the child with his mother, and flee into Egypt; and remain there till I order you; for Herod will seek the child to destroy him.
Accordingly he arose, took the child with his mother, and withdrew by night into Egypt,
15 ౧౫ హేరోదు చనిపోయే వరకూ అక్కడే ఉండిపోయాడు. ‘ఐగుప్తు నుంచి నా కుమారుణ్ణి పిలిచాను’ అని ప్రవక్త ద్వారా ప్రభువు చెప్పిన మాట ఇలా నెరవేరింది.
where he continued until the death of Herod; so that, what the Lord had spoken by the Prophet, was verified, "Out of Egypt I called my Son."
16 ౧౬ ఆ జ్ఞానులు తనను మోసగించారని హేరోదు గ్రహించి కోపంతో మండిపడ్డాడు. తాను జ్ఞానుల నుండి తెలుసుకున్న కాలం ప్రకారం బేత్లెహేములో, దాని పరిసర గ్రామాలన్నిటిలో రెండేళ్ళు, అంతకు తక్కువ వయస్సు ఉన్న మగపిల్లలందరినీ చంపించాడు.
Then Herod, finding that he had been deceived by the magians, was highly incensed and dispatched emissaries who slew, by his order, all the male children in Bethlehem, and in all its territory, from those entering the second year, down to the time of which he had procured exact information from the magians.
17 ౧౭ “ఏడుపు, రోదనలతో రమాలో ఒక స్వరం వినబడింది. రాహేలు తన పిల్లల కోసం ఏడుస్తూ ఉంది. వారిని కోల్పోయి ఓదార్పు పొందలేక ఉంది” అని దేవుడు యిర్మీయా ప్రవక్త ద్వారా పలికించిన మాటలు ఇలా నెరవేరాయి.
Then was the word of Jeremiah the Prophet verified,
18 ౧౮
"A cry was heard in Ramah, lamentation, and weeping, and bitter complaint: Rachel bewailing her children, and refusing to be comforted, because they are no more."
When Herod was dead, an angel of the Lord appearing in a dream to Joseph in Egypt, said,
20 ౨౦ “లేచి, బాలుణ్ణీ తల్లినీ తీసుకుని ఇశ్రాయేలు దేశానికి వెళ్ళు. బాలుడి ప్రాణం తీయాలని చూసేవారు చనిపోయారు” అని చెప్పాడు.
Arise, take the child with his mother, and go into the land of Israel; for they are dead who sought his life.
Accordingly, he arose, took the child with his mother, and came to the land of Israel;
22 ౨౨ అయితే అర్కెలా తన తండ్రి హేరోదు స్థానంలో యూదయ ప్రాంతాన్ని పాలిస్తున్నాడని విని, అక్కడికి వెళ్ళడానికి యోసేపు భయపడ్డాడు. దేవుడు అతన్ని కలలో హెచ్చరించగా గలిలయ ప్రాంతానికి వెళ్ళి,
but hearing that Archelaus had succeeded his father Herod in the throne of Judea, he was afraid to return thither; and being warned in a dream, retired into the district of Galilee,
23 ౨౩ నజరేతు అనే ఊరిలో నివసించాడు. యేసును నజరేయుడు అని పిలుస్తారు అని ప్రవక్తలు చెప్పిన మాట ఈ విధంగా నెరవేరింది.
and resided in a city named Nazareth; in this verifying the declarations of the Prophet concerning Jesus, that he should be called a Nazarene.
