And Sampson went down to Thamnatha, and saw a woman in Thamnatha of the daughters of the Philistines.
2 ౨ అతడు ఇంటికి తిరిగి వచ్చి “తిమ్నాతులో ఒక ఫిలిష్తీ అమ్మాయిని చూశాను. ఆ అమ్మాయిని నాకిచ్చి పెళ్ళి చేయండి” అని తన తల్లిదండ్రులను అడిగాడు.
And he went up and told his father and his mother, and said, I have seen a woman in Thamnatha of the daughters of the Phylistines; and now take her to me for a wife.
3 ౩ వారు “నీ బంధువుల్లో గానీ మన సొంత జాతిలో గానీ అమ్మాయిలు లేరనా సున్నతి సంస్కారం లేని ఫిలిష్తీయుల్లో నుండి అమ్మాయిని భార్యగా తెచ్చుకోడానికి వెళ్తున్నావు?” అని అతణ్ణి అడిగారు. అందుకు సంసోను “ఆమె నాకు నచ్చింది. నా కోసం ఆమెను తెప్పించు” అని తన తండ్రితో అన్నాడు.
And his father and his mother said to him, Are there no daughters of your brethren, and [is there not] a woman of all my people, that you go to take a wife of the uncircumcised Philistines? And Sampson said to his father, Take her for me, for she [is] right in my eyes.
4 ౪ అయితే ఫిలిష్తీయులకు కీడు చేయడానికి యెహోవాయే అతణ్ణి పురిగొల్పుతున్నాడని అతని తల్లిదండ్రులు తెలుసుకోలేదు. ఆ రోజుల్లో ఫిలిష్తీయులు ఇశ్రాయేలీయులను పరిపాలిస్తున్నారు.
And his father and his mother knew not that it was of the Lord, that he sought to be revenged on the Philistines: and at that time the Philistines lorded it over Israel.
5 ౫ తరువాత సంసోను తన తల్లిదండ్రులతో కలసి తిమ్నాతుకు వెళ్ళాడు. తిమ్నాతు ద్రాక్ష తోటల దగ్గరికి వచ్చినప్పుడు ఒక కొదమ సింహం భీకరంగా గర్జిస్తూ అతని మీదికి వచ్చింది.
And Sampson and his father and his mother went down to Thamnatha, and he came to the vineyard of Thamnatha; and behold, a young lion roared in meeting him.
6 ౬ యెహోవా ఆత్మ అకస్మాత్తుగా అతణ్ణి ఆవరించాడు. దాంతో చేతిలో ఏమీ లేక పోయినా ఒక మేకపిల్లను చీల్చినట్టు అతడు దాన్ని చీల్చి వేశాడు. కాని తాను చేసినదాన్ని తన తండ్రికి గానీ తల్లికి గానీ చెప్పలేదు.
And the spirit of the Lord came powerfully upon him, and he crushed him as he would have crushed a kid of the goats, and there was nothing in his hands: and he told not his father and his mother what he had done.
And they went down and spoke to the woman, and she was pleasing in the eyes of Sampson.
8 ౮ కొంతకాలం గడచిన తరువాత ఆమెను తీసుకుని రావడానికి తిరిగి ఆ ప్రాంతానికి వెళ్తున్నప్పుడు ఆ సింహం కళేబరం చూడడానికి పక్కకు తిరిగాడు. ఆ సింహపు అస్థిపంజరంలో అతనికి ఒక తేనెటీగల గుంపూ తేనే కనిపించాయి.
And after some time he returned to take her, and he turned aside to see the carcase of the lion; and behold, a swarm of bees, and honey [were] in the mouth of the lion.
9 ౯ అతడు ఆ తేనె తీసి చేతిలో పట్టుకుని తింటూ తన తల్లిదండ్రుల దగ్గరికి వెళ్ళాడు. అక్కడ వారికీ కొంత తేనె ఇచ్చాడు. వారూ దాన్ని తిన్నారు. అయితే తాను ఆ తేనెను సింహం కళేబరం నుండి తీశానని వారికి చెప్పలేదు.
And he took it into his hands, and went on eating, and he went to his father and his mother, and gave to them, and they did eat; but he told them not that he took the honey out of the mouth of the lion.
10 ౧౦ సంసోను తండ్రి ఆ స్త్రీని చూడడానికి ఆ ప్రాంతానికి వెళ్ళాడు. సంసోను అక్కడి సంప్రదాయం ప్రకారం ఒక విందు ఏర్పాటు చేశాడు.
And his father went down to the woman, and Sampson made there a banquet for seven days, for so the young men are used to do.
And it came to pass when they saw him, that they took thirty guests, and they were with him.
12 ౧౨ అప్పుడు సంసోను వారితో “మీకిష్టమైతే మీకో పొడుపు కథ చెప్తాను. ఈ విందు జరిగే ఏడు రోజుల్లోగా మీలో ఎవరైనా ఈ పొడుపు కథ విప్పి నాకు చెప్పగలిగితే నేను ముప్ఫై సన్నటి నార వస్త్రాలూ, మరో ముప్ఫై జతల దుస్తులూ మీకు ఇస్తాను.
And Sampson said to them, I propound you a riddle: if you will indeed tell it me, and discover it within the seven days of the feast, I will you give thirty sheets and thirty changes of raiment.
13 ౧౩ ఒకవేళ మీరు ఆ పొడుపు కథ విప్పలేకపోతే ఆ ముప్ఫై సన్నటి నార వస్త్రాలూ, మరో ముప్ఫై జతల దుస్తులూ మీరు నాకు ఇవ్వాలి” అన్నాడు. దానికి వారు “ఆ పొడుపు కథ ఏమిటో చెప్పు. వింటాం.” అన్నారు.
And if you can’t tell it me, you shall give me thirty napkins and thirty changes of apparel: and they said to him, Propound your riddle, and we will hear it.
14 ౧౪ అప్పుడు వారితో సంసోను ఇలా చెప్పాడు, “తినే దాంట్లోనుండి తిండి వచ్చింది. బలమైన దాంట్లోనుండి తీపి వచ్చింది.” అన్నాడు. అతని అతిథులు మూడు రోజులైనా ఆ పొడుపు కథ విప్పలేక పోయారు.
And he said to them, Meat came forth of the eater, and sweetness out of the strong: and they could not tell the riddle for three days.
15 ౧౫ ఏడవ రోజున వాళ్ళు సంసోను భార్యతో “మమ్మల్ని నిరుపేదలుగా చేయడానికే ఆహ్వానించారా? ఎలాగైనా నీ భర్త దగ్గర ఈ పొడుపు కథ భావాన్ని రాబట్టి మాకు చెప్పు. లేకపోతే నిన్నూ నీ తండ్రి ఇంటి వాళ్ళనూ తగలబెట్టేస్తాం” అన్నారు.
And it came to pass on the fourth day, that they said to the wife of Sampson, Deceive now your husband, and let him tell you the riddle, lest we burn you and your father's house with fire: did you invite us to do us violence?
16 ౧౬ సంసోను భార్య అతని ఎదుట ఏడవడం మొదలు పెట్టింది “నువ్వు నన్ను ద్వేషిస్తున్నావు గానీ ప్రేమించడం లేదు. నువ్వు మా వాళ్లకు ఒక పొడుపు కథ చెప్పావు. కానీ దానినెలా విప్పాలో నాకు చెప్పలేదు” అంది. దానికతడు “నేను మా అమ్మానాన్నలకే చెప్పలేదు నీకెలా చెప్తాను” అన్నాడు. ఆమె విందు జరిగిన ఏడు రోజులూ అతని దగ్గర ఏడుస్తూనే ఉంది.
And Sampson's wife wept before him, and said, You do but hate me, and love me not; for the riddle which you have propounded to the children of my people you have not told me: and Sampson said to her, If I have not told it to my father and my mother, shall I tell it to you?
17 ౧౭ ఏడో రోజు ఆమె అతణ్ణి బాగా ఒత్తిడి చేయడం వల్ల ఆ పొడుపు కథ ఎలా విప్పాలో ఆమెకు చెప్పేశాడు. ఆమె తన వాళ్లకు పొడుపు కథ అర్థం తెలియచేసింది.
And she wept before him the seven days, during which their banquet lasted: and it came to pass on the seventh day, that he told her, because she troubled him; and she told it to the children of her people.
18 ౧౮ ఏడో రోజున సూర్యాస్తమయం ముందే ఆ ఊరి వాళ్ళు సంసోనుతో “తేనె కన్నా తీపి అయినదేది? సింహం కన్నా బలమైనదేది?” అన్నారు. సంసోను వారితో ఇలా అన్నాడు “మీరు నా దూడతో దున్నకపోయి ఉంటే నా పొడుపుకథను విప్పగలిగేవారు కాదు” అన్నాడు.
And the men of the city said to him on the seventh day, before sunrise, What [is] sweeter than honey? and what [is] stronger than a lion? and Sampson said to them, If you had not plowed with my heifer, you would not have known my riddle.
19 ౧౯ యెహోవా ఆత్మ అతని మీదికి మళ్ళీ బలంగా వచ్చాడు. అప్పుడు అతడు అష్కెలోనుకు వెళ్లి అక్కడివారిలో ముప్ఫై మందిని చంపి వారిని దోచుకున్నాడు. ఆ సొమ్ముతో తన పొడుపు కథను విప్పిన వారికి దుస్తులు ఇచ్చాడు. కోపంతో మండిపడుతూ తన తండ్రి ఇంటికి వెళ్లి పోయాడు.
And the Spirit of the Lord came upon him powerfully, and he went down to Ascalon, and destroyed of the inhabitants thirty men, and took their garments, and gave the changes of raiment to them that told the riddle; and Sampson was very angry, and went up to the house of his father.
And the wife of Sampson was [given] to one of his friends, with whom he was on terms of friendship.
