AFTER these things there was a feast of the Jews; and Jesus went up to Jerusalem.
2 ౨ యెరూషలేములో గొర్రెల ద్వారం దగ్గర ఒక కోనేరు ఉంది. హీబ్రూ భాషలో దాని పేరు బేతెస్ద. దానికి ఐదు మంటపాలున్నాయి.
Now there is at Jerusalem near the sheep-market a pool, called in the Hebrew tongue Bethesda, having five porticos.
3 ౩ (కొన్ని సమయాల్లో ప్రభువు దూత నీటిలోకి దిగి ఆ నీటిని కదిలిస్తూ ఉండేవాడు. అలా నీరు కదలగానే మొదటగా ఎవరైతే నీటిలోకి దిగుతారో అతనికి వ్యాధి నివారణ జరిగేది). రకరకాల రోగాలున్నవారూ, గుడ్డివారూ, కుంటివారూ చచ్చుబడిన కాళ్ళూ చేతులున్నవారూ గుంపులుగా ఆ మంటపాల్లో పడి ఉన్నారు.
In these lay a vast multitude of infirm persons, blind, lame, withered, waiting the motion of the water.
4 ౪
For occasionally an angel descended into the pool, and put the water into commotion: he therefore who first stepped in after the commotion of the water became well, under whatever complaint he had laboured.
And there was a certain man there, who had a complaint of thirty years standing.
6 ౬ యేసు అతనిని చూసి అతడు అక్కడ చాలా కాలం నుండి పడి ఉన్నాడని గ్రహించాడు. అతనిని చూసి, “బాగవ్వాలని కోరిక ఉందా?” అని అడిగాడు.
Jesus seeing him laid there, and knowing that he had been so for a long while, saith to him, Wilt thou be made sound?
7 ౭ అప్పుడు ఆ రోగి, “అయ్యా, దేవదూత నీటిని కదిలించినప్పుడు నన్ను కోనేటిలో దించడానికి ఎవరూ లేరు. నేను సర్దుకుని దిగేంతలో నాకంటే ముందు మరొకడు దిగుతాడు” అని జవాబిచ్చాడు.
The infirm man answered him, Sir, I have no man, when the water is disturbed, to cast me into the pool: but when I am coming, another goeth down before me.
Jesus saith to him, Arise, take up thy bed, and walk.
And instantly the man was made whole, and took up his bed, and walked away: and that day was the sabbath.
10 ౧౦ అందుకని యూదా మత నాయకులు ఆ వ్యక్తితో, “ఈ రోజు విశ్రాంతి దినం. నువ్వు పరుపును మోయకూడదు కదా!” అన్నారు.
The Jews therefore said to him that was cured, It is the sabbath: it is not lawful for thee to carry thy bed.
He answered them, He that made me whole, the same person said to me, Take up thy bed, and walk.
Then they asked him, Who is the man that said to thee, Take up thy bed, and walk?
13 ౧౩ అయితే తనని బాగు చేసినదెవరో అతనికి తెలియదు. ఎందుకంటే అక్కడ ప్రజలంతా గుంపు కూడి ఉండడం వలన యేసు నెమ్మదిగా అక్కడి నుంచి వెళ్ళిపోయాడు.
Now he that was cured knew not who he was: for Jesus had slipped away, a crowd being on the spot.
14 ౧౪ ఆ తరువాత యేసు దేవాలయంలో అతణ్ణి చూశాడు. “చూడు, నీవు స్వస్థత పొందావు. ఇప్పుడు పాపం చేస్తే నీకు ఎక్కువ కీడు కలుగుతుంది. అందుకని ఇక పాపం చేయవద్దు.” అని అతడితో చెప్పాడు.
After these things Jesus findeth him in the temple, and said unto him, Take care; thou art made whole: sin no more, lest something worse befall thee.
The man went, and informed the Jews, that it was Jesus who had made him whole.
And therefore did the Jews persecute Jesus, and sought to kill him, because he had done these things on the sabbath-day.
Then Jesus answered them, My Father worketh hitherto, and I work.
18 ౧౮ ఆయన విశ్రాంతి దినాచారాన్ని భంగం చేయడం మాత్రమే కాక దేవుణ్ణి తండ్రి అని సంబోధించి తనను దేవునికి సమానుడిగా చేసుకున్నందుకు వారు ఆయనను చంపాలని మరింత గట్టి ప్రయత్నం చేశారు.
Therefore sought they the more to kill him, because he had not only broken the sabbath, but called God his own Father, setting himself on an equality with God.
19 ౧౯ కాబట్టి యేసు వారికి ఇలా జవాబిచ్చాడు, “మీకు కచ్చితంగా చెబుతున్నాను. కుమారుడు తనంతట తానుగా ఏదీ చేయడు. తండ్రి దేనిని చేయడం చూస్తాడో దానినే కుమారుడు కూడా చేస్తాడు. ఎందుకంటే తండ్రి ఏది చేస్తాడో అదే కుమారుడు కూడా చేస్తాడు.
Jesus therefore answered and said unto them, Verily, verily, I say unto you, The Son can do nothing by himself, except what he hath seen the Father do: for whatsoever things he doeth, the same and in the same manner doth the Son.
20 ౨౦ తండ్రి కుమారుణ్ణి ప్రేమిస్తాడు కాబట్టి తాను చేసే పనులన్నిటినీ కుమారుడికి చూపిస్తున్నాడు. అంత మాత్రమే కాదు. ఆయన మీకందరికీ విభ్రాంతి కలిగేలా ఇంతకంటే గొప్ప సంగతులను కుమారుడికి చూపిస్తాడు.
For the Father loveth the Son, and sheweth him all things which he himself doeth: and greater works than these will he shew him, that ye may wonder.
21 ౨౧ “తండ్రి చనిపోయిన వారిని లేపి ఎలా ప్రాణం ఇస్తాడో అలాగే కుమారుడు కూడా తనకు ఇష్టం అయిన వారిని బతికిస్తాడు.
For as the Father raiseth the dead, and quickeneth them; so also doth the Son quicken whom he pleases.
22 ౨౨ తండ్రి ఎవరికీ తీర్పు తీర్చడు కానీ అందరికీ తీర్పు తీర్చే సమస్త అధికారాన్ని ఆయన కుమారుడికి ఇచ్చాడు.
For the Father never judgeth any man, but hath committed all judgment to the Son:
23 ౨౩ దీని వల్ల తండ్రిని గౌరవించే అందరూ అదే విధంగా కుమారుణ్ణి కూడా గౌరవించాలి. కుమారుణ్ణి గౌరవించని వాడు ఆయనను పంపిన తండ్రిని కూడా గౌరవించడు.
in order that all may honour the Son, just as they honour the Father. He that honoureth not the Son, doth not honour the Father who sent him.
24 ౨౪ కచ్చితంగా చెబుతున్నాను. నా మాట విని నన్ను పంపించిన వానిలో విశ్వాసం ఉంచేవాడు నిత్యజీవం గలవాడు. అతనికి ఇక శిక్ష ఉండదు. అతడు మరణం నుండి జీవంలోకి దాటి వెళ్ళాడు. (aiōnios g166)
Verily, verily, I say unto you, That he that heareth my word, and believeth on him that sent me, hath everlasting life, and shall not come into judgment; but is passed from death into life. (aiōnios g166)
25 ౨౫ మీకు కచ్చితంగా చెబుతున్నాను. చనిపోయిన వారు దేవుని కుమారుడి స్వరం వినే సమయం రాబోతుంది. ఇప్పుడు వచ్చేసింది. ఆ స్వరాన్ని వినే వారు బతుకుతారు.
Verily, verily, I say unto you, The hour is coming, yea, it is now, when the dead shall hear the voice of the Son of God: and they that hear shall live.
26 ౨౬ తండ్రి ఎలా స్వయంగా జీవం కలిగి ఉన్నాడో అలాగే కుమారుడు కూడా స్వయంగా తనలో జీవం కలిగి ఉండడానికి కుమారుడికి అధికారం ఇచ్చాడు.
For as the Father hath life in himself; so hath he given to the Son also to have life in himself;
27 ౨౭ అలాగే ఆయన కుమారుడికి తీర్పు తీర్చే అధికారం ఇచ్చాడు. ఆయన మనుష్య కుమారుడు కాబట్టి ఈ అధికారం ఇచ్చాడు.
and hath given him authority also to execute judgment, because he is the Son of man.
Marvel not at this: for the hour is coming, in which all who are in the graves shall hear his voice,
29 ౨౯ అలా విన్నవారు బయటికి వస్తారు. మంచి చేసిన వారు జీవపు పునరుత్థానానికీ చెడు చేసిన వారు తీర్పు పునరుత్థానానికీ బయటకు వస్తారు.
and they shall come forth; they who have done good actions to the resurrection of life; and they who have been guilty of foul practices, to the resurrection of damnation.
30 ౩౦ “నా అంతట నేనే దేనినీ చేయలేను. నేను విన్న దాని ప్రకారం తీర్పు తీరుస్తాను. నా స్వంత ఇష్టాన్ని నెరవేర్చుకోవాలని నేను చూడను గానీ నన్ను పంపిన వాని ఇష్టం నెరవేరాలని చూస్తాను. కాబట్టి నా తీర్పు న్యాయవంతంగా ఉంటుంది.
I am not able to perform any thing by myself: as I hear, I judge: and my judgment is just; for I seek not my own will, but the will of my Father who sent me.
If I bear witness of myself, my witness is not true.
There is another who beareth witness of me, and I know that his witness is true which he witnesseth concerning me.
Ye sent to John, and he bore testimony to the truth.
But I receive not testimony from man: but I speak these things, that ye may believe.
35 ౩౫ యోహాను మండుతూ ప్రకాశించే దీపంలా ఉండే వాడు. మీరు అతని వెలుగులో కొంతకాలం సంతోషించడానికి ఇష్టపడ్డారు.
He was a lamp glowing and luminous: and ye were pleased for a time to exult in his light.
36 ౩౬ అయితే యోహాను నా గురించి చెప్పిన సాక్ష్యం కంటే గొప్ప సాక్ష్యం నాకుంది. నేను చేయడానికి నా తండ్రి నాకిచ్చిన పనులే ఆ సాక్ష్యం. ప్రస్తుతం నేను చేస్తున్న ఈ కార్యాలే తండ్రి నన్ను పంపాడని నా గురించి సాక్ష్యం చెబుతున్నాయి.
But I have a testimony greater than that of John: for the works which the Father hath given me that I should fulfil them, these very works which I am doing, they bear witness of me, that the Father hath sent me.
37 ౩౭ నన్ను పంపిన తండ్రి తానే నాగురించి సాక్ష్యం ఇస్తున్నాడు. ఆయన స్వరాన్ని మీరు ఏనాడూ వినలేదు. ఆయన స్వరూపాన్నీ ఏనాడూ చూడలేదు.
And the Father who sent me, himself hath borne witness concerning me. Ye have neither at any time heard his voice, nor seen his form.
And ye have not his word abiding in you: for whom he hath sent, him ye believe not.
39 ౩౯ లేఖనాల్లో మీకు నిత్య జీవం ఉందనుకుని మీరు వాటిని పరిశోధిస్తున్నారు. కానీ అవే నా గురించి సాక్ష్యం ఇస్తున్నాయి. (aiōnios g166)
Search the scriptures; for ye suppose in them ye have eternal life: and these are they which testify of me. (aiōnios g166)
And ye will not come to me, that ye might have life.
I receive not glory from men.
But I know you, that ye have not the love of God in you.
43 ౪౩ “నేను నా తండ్రి పేరిట వచ్చాను. మీరు నన్ను అంగీకరించలేదు. మరొకడు తన స్వంత పేరు ప్రతిష్టలతో మీ దగ్గరికి వస్తే మీరు వాణ్ణి అంగీకరిస్తారు.
I have come in my Father’s name, and ye receive me not: if another come in his own name, him ye will receive.
44 ౪౪ ఇతరుల నుండి కలిగే మెప్పును అంగీకరిస్తూ ఏకైక దేవుని నుండి కలిగే మెప్పును వెదకని మీరు ఎలా విశ్వసిస్తారు?
How can ye believe, who receiving honour one from another, seek not the honour which cometh from God alone?
45 ౪౫ నేను తండ్రి ముందు మీమీద నేరం మోపుతానని అనుకోవద్దు. మీ మీద నేరం మోపడానికి మరో వ్యక్తీ ఉన్నాడు. మీరు మీ ఆశలన్నీ పెట్టుకున్న మోషేయే మీ మీద నేరం మోపుతాడు.
Do not suppose that I shall accuse you to my Father: there is one who is accusing you, even Moses, on whom ye place your hope.
For if ye believed Moses, ye would have believed me: for of me did he write.
But if ye believe not his writings, how will ye believe my words?
