యిర్మీయా 36
1 ౧ యూదా రాజు యోషీయా కొడుకు యెహోయాకీము పాలించిన నాలుగో సంవత్సరంలో యెహోవా వాక్కు యిర్మీయాతో ఇలా చెప్పాడు.
When Jehoiakim had been the king of Judah for almost four years, Yahweh gave this message to me:
2 ౨ “నువ్వు ఒక పుస్తకం తీసుకుని నేను నీతో మాట్లాడిన రోజు మొదలుకుని, అంటే, యోషీయా కాలం మొదలుకుని ఈ రోజు వరకు ఇశ్రాయేలు, యూదా ప్రజల గురించీ, అన్ని జాతుల గురించీ నీతో పలికిన మాటలన్నీ దానిలో రాయి.
“Get a scroll, and write on it the messages that I have given to you regarding Israel, Judah, and the other nations. Write all of the messages, starting from the time that I gave you the first message, when Josiah was the king, up until now.
3 ౩ నేను యూదా ప్రజలకు చెయ్యాలని ఉద్దేశించిన కీడంతటి గురించి వాళ్ళు విని, నేను వాళ్ళ దోషం, వాళ్ళ పాపం క్షమించేలా తమ దుర్మార్గత విడిచి పశ్చాత్తాప పడతారేమో.”
When the people of Judah hear [again] about all the disasters that I plan to cause them to experience, perhaps each one of them will repent. If they do that, I will be able to forgive them for the wrong/evil things that they have done.”
4 ౪ యిర్మీయా నేరీయా కొడుకు బారూకును పిలిపించాడు. యెహోవా యిర్మీయాతో చెప్పిన మాటలన్నీ యిర్మీయా చెప్తూ ఉండగా అతడు ఆ పుస్తకంలో రాశాడు.
[So] I summoned Baruch, the son of Neraiah. Then, as I dictated to him all the messages that Yahweh had spoken to me, he wrote them on a scroll.
5 ౫ తరువాత యిర్మీయా బారూకుకు ఇలా ఆజ్ఞ ఇచ్చాడు. “నేను చెరసాలలో ఉన్నాను కాబట్టి యెహోవా మందిరానికి రాలేను.
Then I said to him, “I am not allowed to [leave here and] go to the temple.
6 ౬ కాబట్టి నువ్వు వెళ్లి, ఉపవాసదినాన యెహోవా మందిరంలో ప్రజలకు వినిపించేలా, నేను చెప్తూ ఉండగా నువ్వు పుస్తకంలో రాసిన యెహోవా మాటలు ప్రకటించు. తమ పట్టణాలనుంచి వచ్చే యూదా ప్రజలందరికీ వినిపించేలా వాటిని ప్రకటించు.
So, you go [to the temple] on the [next] day when the people are (fasting/abstaining from food), and read to them the messages from Yahweh that you wrote while I dictated them to you. Read them [aloud] to all the people [who are there, including] the people of Judah who come [there] from their towns.
7 ౭ దయ చూపించమని వాళ్ళు చేసే అభ్యర్ధనలు ఒకవేళ యెహోవా దృష్టికి ఆమోదం అవుతాయేమో, ఒకవేళ వాళ్ళు తమ చెడుమార్గం విడిచిపెడతారేమో, ఎందుకంటే ఈ ప్రజల మీద యెహోవా ప్రకటించిన ఉగ్రత, మహాకోపం ఎంతో తీవ్రంగా ఉన్నాయి.”
Perhaps they will turn from their evil behavior and request Yahweh [to act mercifully toward them]. [They must do that, ] because Yahweh is very angry with them and has threatened to punish them severely.”
8 ౮ కాబట్టి ప్రవక్త అయిన యిర్మీయా తనకు ఆజ్ఞ ఇచ్చినట్టు, నేరీయా కొడుకు బారూకు యెహోవా మాటలన్నీ, బిగ్గరగా యెహోవా మందిరంలో చదివి వినిపించాడు.
Baruch did what I told him to do. He [went to the temple and] read [to the people] all those messages from Yahweh.
9 ౯ యూదా రాజైన యోషీయా కొడుకు యెహోయాకీము పరిపాలనలో ఐదో సంవత్సరం తొమ్మిదో నెలలో యెరూషలేములో ఉన్న ప్రజలందరూ, యూదా పట్టాణాల్లో నుంచి యెరూషలేముకు వచ్చిన ప్రజలందరూ యెహోవా పేరట ఉపవాసం ప్రకటించినప్పుడు,
He did it in December on a day when their leaders had proclaimed that all the people in Jerusalem and the people who had come there from [other] towns in Judah should fast to [please/honor] Yahweh. [It was when] Jehoiakim had been king for almost five years.
10 ౧౦ బారూకు యెహోవా మందిరంలో లేఖికుడైన షాఫాను కొడుకు గెమర్యా గదికి పైగా ఉన్న ప్రాంగణంలో, యెహోవా మందిరపు ప్రవేశ ద్వారం దగ్గర, ప్రజలందరూ వినేలా యిర్మీయా చెప్పిన మాటలు పుస్తకంలోనుంచి చదివి వినిపించాడు.
Baruch read to all the people the messages [that he had written] on the scroll. [He read them while he was] in the temple, in the room where Gemariah stayed. He was the son of Shaphan, [who had previously been the king’s] secretary. That room was close to the upper courtyard [of the temple], near the entrance to the temple that is [called] the New Gate.
When Micaiah, who was the son of Gemariah and grandson of Shaphan, heard those messages from Yahweh,
12 ౧౨ రాజమందిరంలో ఉన్న లేఖికుడి గదిలోకి వెళ్ళినప్పుడు నాయకులందరూ లేఖికుడైన ఎలీషామా, షెమాయా కొడుకు దెలాయ్యా, అక్బోరు కొడుకు ఎల్నాతాను, షాఫాను కొడుకు గెమర్యా, హనన్యా కొడుకు సిద్కియా అనే వాళ్ళూ, నాయకులందరూ అక్కడ కూర్చుని ఉన్నారు.
he went down to the secretary’s room in the palace, where all the king’s officials were meeting. Elishama the [king’s] secretary [was there]. Delaiah the son of Shemaiah, Elnathan the son of Acbor, Gemariah, Zedekiah the son of Hananiah, and all the [other] officials [of the king were also there].
13 ౧౩ బారూకు ప్రజలందరికీ వినిపించేలా ఆ పుస్తకంలో నుంచి చదివి వినిపించిన మాటలన్నీ మీకాయా వాళ్లకు తెలియజేసినప్పుడు,
When Micaiah told them about the messages that Baruch had been reading to the people,
14 ౧౪ అధికారులందరూ కూషీ మునిమనవడు, షెలెమ్యాకు మనవడు, నెతన్యాకు కొడుకు అయిన యెహూదిని బారూకు దగ్గరికి పంపి “నువ్వు ప్రజలు వింటుండగా చదివిన ఆ పుస్తకపు చుట్ట నీ చేత్తో పట్టుకుని తీసుకురా” అని ఆజ్ఞ ఇచ్చారు. నేరీయా కొడుకు బారూకు ఆ పుస్తకపు చుట్ట చేత్తో పట్టుకుని వచ్చాడు.
the officials sent Jehudi, who was the son of Nethaniah and grandson of Shelemiah and great-grandson of Cushi, to tell Baruch to come [and read the messages to them, also]. So Baruch took the scroll and went to them.
15 ౧౫ అతడు వచ్చినప్పుడు వాళ్ళు “నువ్వు కూర్చుని మాకు చదివి వినిపించు” అన్నారు. కాబట్టి బారూకు దాన్ని వారికి చదివి వినిపించాడు.
They said to him, “Please sit down and read it [to us].” So Baruch did what they requested.
16 ౧౬ వాళ్ళు ఆ మాటలన్నీ విన్నప్పుడు భయంతో ఒకరినొకరు చూసుకుని “మనం కచ్చితంగా ఈ మాటలు రాజుకు తెలియజేయాలి” అని బారూకుతో అన్నారు.
After they had heard all the messages, they were afraid. They looked at each other and [then] they said, “We must tell these messages to the king!”
17 ౧౭ అప్పుడు వాళ్ళు బారూకుతో “మాతో చెప్పు, ఈ మాటలన్నీ యిర్మీయా చెప్తూ ఉన్నప్పుడు నువ్వు ఎలా రాశావు?” అని అడిగారు.
Then they asked Baruch, “How did you get this scroll? Did Jeremiah dictate to you all the messages on this scroll?”
18 ౧౮ బారూకు వాళ్ళతో “అతడు తన నోటితో ఈ మాటలన్నీ పలికినప్పుడు, నేను పుస్తకపు చుట్టలో వాటిని సిరాతో రాశాను” అన్నాడు.
Baruch replied, “[Yes], Jeremiah dictated them to me, and I wrote them with ink on this scroll.”
19 ౧౯ అప్పుడు ఆ అధికారులు బారూకుతో “నువ్వూ, యిర్మీయా, ఇద్దరూ వెళ్లి దాగి ఉండండి. మీరున్న చోటు ఎవరికీ తెలియనివ్వొద్దు” అన్నారు.
Then the officials told Baruch, “You and Jeremiah must both hide. Do not tell anyone where you are!”
20 ౨౦ అప్పుడు వాళ్ళు ఆ పుస్తకాన్ని లేఖికుడైన ఎలీషామా గదిలో ఉంచి, రాజమందిరానికి తామే వెళ్లి, ఆ మాటలన్నీ రాజుకు చెప్పారు.
They put the scroll in the room of Elishama, the king’s secretary. Then they went to the king, who was in the courtyard, and reported to him everything [that Baruch had read to them].
21 ౨౧ అప్పుడు రాజు ఆ పుస్తకపు చుట్టను తీసుకురావడానికి యెహూదిని పంపించినప్పుడు అతడు లేఖికుడైన ఎలీషామా గదిలోనుంచి దాన్ని తీసుకొచ్చి రాజుకు, రాజు పక్కన నిల్చుని ఉన్న అధికారులకూ వినిపించేలా బిగ్గరగా చదివాడు.
Then the king sent Jehudi to get the scroll. Jehudi brought it from Elishama’s room and read it to the king, while all the [king’s] officials were standing there.
22 ౨౨ తొమ్మిదో నెలలో, రాజు శీతాకాలం రాజమందిరంలో కూర్చుని ఉన్నప్పుడు, అతని ఎదుట కుంపటిలో అగ్ని రగులుతూ ఉంది.
It was in the cold season, and the king was in a part of the palace where he stayed when it was cold. He was sitting in front of a fire [to keep/be warm].
23 ౨౩ యెహూది మూడు నాలుగు వరుసలు చదివిన తరువాత, రాజు చాకుతో దాన్ని కోసి, ఆ కుంపటిలో వేశాడు. అప్పుడు అది పూర్తిగా కాలిపోయింది.
Each time Jehudi finished reading three or four columns, the king cut off that section of the scroll with a knife and threw it into the fire. He did that, section by section, until the entire scroll was burned up.
Neither the king nor his officials showed that they were afraid [that God would punish them]. They did not tear their clothes [to show that they were sorry for what they had done].
25 ౨౫ పుస్తకపు చుట్టను కాల్చవద్దని ఎల్నాతాను, దెలాయ్యా, గెమర్యా రాజును కోరినా, అతడు వాళ్ళ మాట వినలేదు.
Elnathan, Delaiah, and Gemariah pleaded with the king not to burn the scroll, but he did not pay any attention.
26 ౨౬ లేఖికుడైన బారూకును, ప్రవక్త అయిన యిర్మీయాను పట్టుకోవాలని రాజవంశస్థుడైన యెరహ్మెయేలుకు, అజ్రీయేలు కొడుకు శెరాయాకు, అబ్దెయేలు కొడుకు షెలెమ్యాకు రాజు ఆజ్ఞాపించాడు, కాని యెహోవా యిర్మియా బారూకులను వారికి కనబడకుండా చేశాడు.
Then the king commanded his son Jerahmeel, Seraiah the son of Azriel, and Shelemiah the son of Abdeel to arrest Baruch and me. But [they were unable to do that because] Yahweh had hidden us.
27 ౨౭ యిర్మీయా చెప్పిన మాటనుబట్టి బారూకు రాసిన పుస్తకం చుట్టను రాజు కాల్చివేసిన తరువాత యెహోవా వాక్కు యిర్మీయాతో ఇలా చెప్పాడు.
After the king had burned the scroll on which were written the messages that I had dictated to Baruch, Yahweh said this to me:
28 ౨౮ నువ్వు ఇంకొక పుస్తకం చుట్ట తీసుకుని యూదా రాజైన యెహోయాకీము కాల్చిన మొదటి పుస్తకంలో రాసిన మాటలన్నీ దానిలో రాయి.
“Get another scroll, and [tell Baruch to] write everything again, the same messages that he had written on the scroll that the king burned.
29 ౨౯ యూదా రాజైన యెహోయాకీముకు నువ్వు ఈ మాట చెప్పాలి. “యెహోవా చెప్పేదేమంటే, నువ్వు పుస్తకపు చుట్టను కాల్చేశావు! ‘బబులోను రాజు కచ్చితంగా వచ్చి ఈ దేశాన్ని నాశనం చేసి, ఈ ప్రజలను, జంతువులను నాశనం చేస్తాడు’ అని నువ్వు ఇందులో ఎందుకు రాశావు? అని అడిగావు.”
[Then go to] the king and say to him, ‘Yahweh says this: “You burned the scroll [because you did not like] what was written on it, that the king of Babylon would surely [RHQ] come [with his army] and destroy this land and get rid of all the people and the animals.
30 ౩౦ ఆ కారణంగా యూదా రాజైన యెహోయాకీము గురించి యెహోవా ఇలా అంటున్నాడు. “దావీదు సింహాసనం మీద కూర్చోడానికి నీ వారసులు ఎవరూ ఉండరు. పగలు ఎండలో, రాత్రి గడ్డ కట్టిన మంచులో పాడైపోయేలా నీ శవాన్ని పారేస్తారు.
Now this is what [I], Yahweh, say about [you], Jehoiakim: 'None of your descendants will rule this kingdom [MTY]. Your corpse will be thrown out [on the ground and not be buried]; it will be under the hot [sun] during the days and [struck by] frost during the nights.
31 ౩౧ వాళ్ళ దోషాన్ని బట్టి అతన్నీ, అతని సంతతినీ, అతని సేవకులనూ నేను శిక్షిస్తాను. నేను వాళ్ళ గురించి చెప్పిన కీడంతా వాళ్ళ మీదకీ, యెరూషలేము, యూదా ప్రజల మీదకీ తీసుకొస్తానని మిమ్మల్ని బెదిరించినా వాళ్ళు దాన్ని పట్టించుకోలేదు.”
I will punish you and your family and your officials for their sins. And I will cause the people of Jerusalem and the people of the [other] towns in Judah to experience all the disasters that I promised, because you all would not pay attention [to what I said]!'” '”
32 ౩౨ కాబట్టి యిర్మీయా ఇంకొక పుస్తకం చుట్టను తీసుకుని లేఖికుడైన నేరియా కొడుకు బారూకు చేతికి ఇచ్చినప్పుడు, అతడు యిర్మీయా నోటితో చెప్పిన మాటలనుబట్టి యూదా రాజైన యెహోయాకీము తగలబెట్టిన పుస్తకం చుట్టలోని మాటలన్నీ మళ్ళీ రాశాడు. ఆ మాటలే కాకుండా, అలాంటివి ఇంకా ఎన్నో మాటలు వాటికి జోడించి రాశాడు.
So I took another scroll, and again I dictated the messages to Baruch. He wrote everything that had been written on the [other] scroll, the one that King Jehoiakim had burned in the fire. [But this time, I] added more messages.
