1 ౧ ఆ రోజున సౌలు కొడుకు యోనాతాను తన తండ్రితో ఏమీ చెప్పకుండా తన ఆయుధాలు మోసేవాణ్ణి పిలిచి “అటువైపు ఉన్న ఫిలిష్తీయుల సైన్యం కావలి వారిని చంపడానికి వెళ్దాం పద” అన్నాడు.

2 ౨ సౌలు గిబియా అవతల మిగ్రోనులో దానిమ్మ చెట్టు కింద డేరా వేసుకున్నాడు. అతని దగ్గర సుమారు ఆరు వందలమంది మనుషులు ఉన్నారు.

7 ౭ వాడు “నీ మనస్సుకు తోచింది చెయ్యి. వెళ్దాం పద, నీకు నచ్చినట్టు చేయడానికి నేను నీతోపాటే ఉంటాను” అన్నాడు.

9 ౯ వారు మనలను చూసి, ‘మేము మీ దగ్గరికి వచ్చేవరకూ అక్కడే నిలిచి ఉండండి’ అని చెప్పినట్టైతే వాళ్ళ దగ్గరికి వెళ్ళకుండా మనం ఉన్న చోటే ఉండిపోదాం.
if thus to say to(wards) us to silence: stationary till to touch we to(wards) you and to stand: stand underneath: stand us and not to ascend: rise to(wards) them
10 ౧౦ ‘మా దగ్గరకి రండి’ అని వాళ్ళు పిలిస్తే దానివల్ల యెహోవా వారిని మన చేతికి అప్పగించాడని అర్థం చేసుకుని మనం వెళ్దాం” అని చెప్పాడు.

11 ౧౧ వారిద్దరూ తమను తాము ఫిలిష్తీయుల సైన్యం కావలి వారికి కనపరచుకున్నారు. అప్పుడు ఫిలిష్తీయులు “చూడండి, దాక్కున్న గుహల్లో నుండి హెబ్రీయులు బయలుదేరి వస్తున్నారు” అని చెప్పుకొంటూ,

22 ౨౨ అంతేకాక, ఫిలిష్తీయ సైన్యం పారిపోతున్నదని విని వారిని తరమడానికి ఎఫ్రాయిం కొండ ప్రాంతంలో దాక్కొన్న ఇశ్రాయేలీయులు యుద్ధంలో చేరారు.

23 ౨౩ ఆ రోజున ఇశ్రాయేలీయులను యెహోవా ఈ విధంగా కాపాడాడు. యుద్ధం బేతావెను అవతల వరకూ సాగింది. ఇశ్రాయేలీయులు బాగా అలసిపోయారు.

24 ౨౪ “నేను నా శత్రువులపై పగ సాధించే వరకూ, సాయంత్రమయ్యే దాకా భోజనం చేసేవాడు శాపానికి గురి అవుతారు” అని సౌలు ప్రజల చేత ఒట్టు పెట్టించాడు. అందుకని ప్రజలు ఏమీ తినకుండా ఉన్నారు.

26 ౨౬ వారు ఆ అడవిలోకి వెళ్తున్నప్పుడు తేనె ధారగా కారుతూ ఉంది. తాము చేసిన ప్రమాణానికి లోబడి ఎవ్వరూ ఆ తేనె ముట్టుకోలేదు.

27 ౨౭ అయితే యోనాతానుకు తన తండ్రి ప్రజలచేత చేయించిన ప్రమాణం గురించి తెలియదు. అతడు తన చేతికర్ర చాచి దాని అంచును తేనెపట్టులో ముంచి దాన్ని నోటిలో పెట్టుకోగానే అతని కళ్ళకు వెలుగు వచ్చింది.

28 ౨౮ అక్కడి వారిలో ఒకడు “నీ తండ్రి ప్రజలచేత ఒట్టు పెట్టించి ‘ఈ రోజున ఆహారం తీసుకొనేవాడు కచ్చితంగా శాపానికి గురవుతాడు’ అని ఆజ్ఞాపించాడు. అందుకే ప్రజలు బాగా అలసిపోయారు” అని చెప్పాడు.
and to answer man from [the] people and to say to swear to swear father your [obj] [the] people to/for to say to curse [the] man which to eat food [the] day: today and be faint [the] people
29 ౨౯ అందుకు యోనాతాను “నా తండ్రి మనుషులను కష్టపెట్టిన వాడయ్యాడు. నేను ఈ తేనె కొంచెం తినగానే నా కళ్ళు ఎంతగా వెలిగిపోయాయో చూడు.
and to say Jonathan to trouble father my [obj] [the] land: country/planet to see: see please for to light eye my for to perceive little honey [the] this
30 ౩౦ మన మనుషులు శత్రువుల దగ్గర దోచుకున్నది బాగా తిని ఉంటే వారు ఇంకా ఎక్కువగా సంహరించేవాళ్ళు గదా” అన్నాడు.

31 ౩౧ ఆ రోజు ఇశ్రాయేలు వారు ఫిలిష్తీయులను మిక్మషు నుండి అయ్యాలోను వరకూ తరిమి హతం చేసినందువల్ల బాగా అలసిపోయారు.

32 ౩౨ వారు దోపిడీ సొమ్ము మీద ఎగబడి, గొర్రెలను, ఎద్డులను, దూడలను నేలమీద పడవేసి వాటిని వధించి రక్తంతోనే తిన్నారు.

33 ౩౩ “ప్రజలు రక్తంతోనే తిని యెహోవాకు వ్యతిరేకంగా పాపం చేస్తున్నారు” అని కొందరు సౌలుకు చెప్పినప్పుడు అతడు “మీరు దేవునికి విశ్వాస ఘాతకులయ్యారు. ఒక పెద్ద రాయి నా దగ్గరకి దొర్లించి తీసుకురండి” అని చెప్పి,

34 ౩౪ “అందరూ తమ తమ ఎద్దులను, గొర్రెలను నా దగ్గరికి తీసుకు వచ్చి ఇక్కడే వధించి వాటిని తినాలి. రక్తంతో కలసిన మాసం తిని యెహోవా దృష్టిలో పాపం చేయవద్దు” అని వారితో చెప్పడానికి అతడు కొంతమందిని పంపించాడు. ప్రజలంతా ఆ రాత్రి తమ తమ ఎద్దులను తెచ్చి అక్కడ వధించారు.

36 ౩౬ సౌలు “మనం ఈ రాత్రి ఫిలిష్తీయులను తరుముతూ తెల్లవారేదాకా దోచుకుని వాళ్ళలో ఒక్కడు కూడా లేకుండా చేద్దాం రండి” అని ఆజ్ఞ ఇచ్చినప్పుడు వారంతా “నీకు ఏది మంచిదని అనిపిస్తే దాన్ని చెయ్యి” అని అన్నారు. అప్పుడు సౌలు “యాజకుడు ఇక్కడే ఉన్నాడు, అతని ద్వారా దేవుని దగ్గర విచారణ చేద్దాం రండి” అని చెప్పాడు.

37 ౩౭ సౌలు “నేను ఫిలిష్తీయులను వెంబడిస్తే వారిని నీవు ఇశ్రాయేలీయుల చేతికి అప్పగిస్తావా” అని దేవుని దగ్గర విచారణ చేసినప్పుడు ఆ రోజున ఆయన అతనికి ఎలాంటి జవాబు ఇయ్యలేదు.

38 ౩౮ అందుకు సౌలు “ప్రజల పెద్దలు నా దగ్గరకి వచ్చి ఈ రోజు ఎవరి ద్వారా తప్పిదం జరిగిందో దాన్ని కనుక్కోవాలి.

40 ౪౦ “మీరంతా ఒక పక్కన ఉండండి, నేనూ, నా కొడుకు యోనాతానూ మరో పక్కన నిలబడతాం” అని సౌలు చెప్పినప్పుడు, వారంతా “నీ మనసుకు ఏది మంచిదనిపిస్తే అది చెయ్యి” అన్నారు.

41 ౪౧ అప్పుడు సౌలు “ఇశ్రాయేలీయుల దేవుడవైన యెహోవా, తప్పు చేసినది ఎవరో చూపించు” అని ప్రార్థించినపుడు సౌలు, యోనాతానుల పేరున చీటీ పడింది. ప్రజలు తప్పించుకున్నారు.

42 ౪౨ “నాకూ నా కొడుకు యోనాతానుకూ మధ్య చీటీ వేయండి” అని సౌలు ఆజ్ఞ ఇచ్చినప్పుడు చీటీ యోనాతాను పేరున పడింది.
and to say Saul to fall: allot between me and between Jonathan son: child my and to capture Jonathan
43 ౪౩ “నువ్వు చేసిన పని ఏమిటో నాకు తెలియజేయి” అని యోనాతానును అడిగినప్పుడు, యోనాతాను “నా చేతికర్ర అంచుతో కొంచెం తేనె తీసుకుని తిన్న విషయం నిజమే, కొంచెం తేనె కోసం నేను చనిపోవలసి వచ్చింది” అని సౌలుతో అన్నాడు.

44 ౪౪ అప్పుడు సౌలు “యోనాతానూ, నీవు తప్పకుండా చనిపోవాలి. అందుకు నేను ఒప్పుకోకపోతే దేవుడు నాకు గొప్ప కీడు కలిగిస్తాడు” అన్నాడు.

45 ౪౫ అయితే ప్రజలు సౌలుతో “మనకు ఇంత గొప్ప విజయం కలిగేలా చేసిన యోనాతాను చనిపోవాలా? అది ఎన్నటికీ జరగకూడదు. దేవుని సహాయంతోనే ఈ రోజు యోనాతాను మనకు జయం లభించేలా చేశాడు. యెహోవా దేవునిపై ఒట్టు. అతని తలవెండ్రుకల్లో ఒక్కటైనా కింద పడకూడదు” అని చెప్పి యోనాతాను మరణించకుండా అతణ్ణి కాపాడారు.

46 ౪౬ తరువాత సౌలు ఫిలిష్తీయులను తరమడం మానివేసి తిరిగి వెళ్లిపోయాడు, ఫిలిష్తీయులు తమ స్వదేశానికి వెళ్ళిపోయారు.
