దినవృత్తాంతములు~ మొదటి~ గ్రంథము 10
1 ౧ ఫిలిష్తీయులు ఇశ్రాయేలీయులతో యుద్ధం చేశారు. ఇశ్రాయేలీయులందరూ పారిపోయారు. ఫిలిష్తీయులు వాళ్ళను గిల్బోవ పర్వతం మీద హతమార్చారు.

2 ౨ ఫిలిష్తీయులు సౌలునీ అతని కొడుకులనూ వెంటపడి తరిమారు. వాళ్ళు సౌలు కొడుకులు యోనాతానునీ, అబీనాదాబునీ, మల్కీషూవనీ చంపేశారు.

3 ౩ సౌలుకి వ్యతిరేకంగా యుద్ధం తీవ్రమైంది. బాణాలు వేసే వాళ్ళు అతణ్ణి చూశారు. అతనిపై గురిపెట్టి బాణాలు వేసారు. సౌలుకు తీవ్ర గాయాలయ్యాడు.

4 ౪ అప్పుడు సౌలు తన ఆయుధాలు మోసేవాడితో “నీ కత్తితో నన్ను పొడిచెయ్యి. లేకుంటే ఈ సున్నతి లేని వాళ్ళు వచ్చి నన్ను అవమానిస్తారు” అన్నాడు. వాడు అలా చేయడానికి ఒప్పుకోలేదు. ఎందుకంటే వాడు చాలా భయపడ్డాడు. దాంతో సౌలు తన కత్తి నేలకు ఆనించి దాని మీద పడ్డాడు.

7 ౭ తమ వాళ్ళు యుద్ధంలో నుండి పారిపోయారనీ, సౌలూ అతని కొడుకులూ చనిపోయారనీ లోయలో ఉన్న ఇశ్రాయేలు ప్రజలకు తెలిసింది. అప్పుడు వాళ్ళంతా తమ పట్టణాలు వదిలి పారిపోయారు.

8 ౮ తరువాత రోజు చనిపోయిన వారి బట్టలనూ ఇతర వస్తువులనూ దోచుకోడానికి ఫిలిష్తీయులు వచ్చారు. అప్పుడే వాళ్ళు సౌలు, అతని కుమారులూ గిల్బోవ పర్వతంపై చనిపోయి పడి ఉండటం చూశారు.

12 ౧౨ అప్పుడు వాళ్ళలో శూరులైన వాళ్ళంతా అక్కడికి వెళ్ళి సౌలు శరీరాన్నీ, అతని కొడుకుల శరీరాలనూ యాబేషుకి తీసుకు వచ్చారు. వాళ్ళ ఎముకలను యాబేషులోనే ఉన్న సింధూరం చెట్టు కింద పాతిపెట్టారు. ఏడు రోజులు వాళ్ళ కోసం ఉపవాసం ఉన్నారు.

13 ౧౩ సౌలు యెహోవాకు విరోధంగా ద్రోహం చేసాడు కాబట్టి ఈ విధంగా చనిపోయాడు. అతడు యెహోవా ఆజ్ఞలు పాటించలేదు. ఆత్మలతో సంభాషించే మనిషి దగ్గరికి సలహా కోసం వెళ్ళాడు.
