சங்கீதம் 127

1 ௧ சாலொமோனின் ஆரோகண பாடல். யெகோவா வீட்டைக் கட்டாவிட்டால், அதைக் கட்டுகிறவர்களின் உழைப்பு வீண்; யெகோவா நகரத்தைக் காக்காமல் இருந்தால் காவலாளர்கள் விழித்திருக்கிறது வீண்.

A Song of Ascents; of Solomon. Except the LORD build the house, they labour in vain that build it: except the LORD keep the city, the watchman waketh but in vain.

2 ௨ நீங்கள் அதிகாலையில் எழுந்து, நேரத்துடன் வேலைகளைச் செய்து, வருத்தத்தின் அப்பத்தைச் சாப்பிடுகிறதும் வீண்; அவரே தமக்குப் பிரியமானவனுக்குத் தூக்கத்தைக் கொடுக்கிறார்.

It is vain for you that ye rise up early, and so late take rest, and eat the bread of toil: [for] so he giveth unto his beloved sleep.

3 ௩ இதோ, பிள்ளைகள் கர்த்தரால் வரும் சுதந்திரம், கர்ப்பத்தின் கனி அவரால் கிடைக்கும் பலன்.

Lo, children are an heritage of the LORD: [and] the fruit of the womb is [his] reward.

4 ௪ இளவயதின் மகன்கள் பலவான் கையிலுள்ள அம்புகளுக்கு ஒப்பாக இருக்கிறார்கள்.

As arrows in the hand of a mighty man, so are the children of youth.

5 ௫ அவைகளால் தன்னுடைய அம்பறாத்தூணியை நிரப்பின மனிதன் பாக்கியவான்; அவர்கள் வெட்கமடையாமல் ஒலிமுகவாசலில் எதிரிகளோடு பேசுவார்கள்.

Happy is the man that hath his quiver full of them: they shall not be ashamed, when they speak with their enemies in the gate.
