நீதிமொழிகள் 4

1 ௧ பிள்ளைகளே, நீங்கள் தகப்பன் போதகத்தைக் கேட்டு, புத்தியை அடையும்படி கவனியுங்கள்.

Listen, sons, to a father's instruction. Pay attention and know understanding;

2 ௨ நான் உங்களுக்கு நற்போதகத்தைத் தருகிறேன்; என் உபதேசத்தை விடாதிருங்கள்.

for I give you sound learning. Do not forsake my law.

3 ௩ நான் என்னுடைய தகப்பனுக்குப் பிரியமான மகனும், என்னுடைய தாய்க்கு மிகவும் அருமையான ஒரே பிள்ளையுமானவன்.

For I was a son to my father, tender and an only child in the sight of my mother.

4 ௪ அவர் எனக்குப் போதித்துச் சொன்னது: உன்னுடைய இருதயம் என்னுடைய வார்த்தைகளைக் காத்துக்கொள்வதாக; என்னுடைய கட்டளைகளைக் கைக்கொள், அப்பொழுது பிழைப்பாய்.

He taught me, and said to me: "Let your heart retain my words. Keep my commandments, and live.

5 ௫ ஞானத்தைச் சம்பாதி, புத்தியையும் சம்பாதி; என்னுடைய வாயின் வார்த்தைகளை மறக்காமலும் விட்டு விலகாமலும் இரு.

Get wisdom. Get understanding. Do not forget, neither swerve from the words of my mouth.

6 ௬ அதை விடாதே, அது உன்னைத் தற்காக்கும்; அதின்மேல் பிரியமாக இரு, அது உன்னைக் காத்துக்கொள்ளும்.

Do not forsake her, and she will preserve you. Love her, and she will keep you.

7 ௭ ஞானமே முக்கியம், ஞானத்தைச் சம்பாதி; என்னத்தைச் சம்பாதித்தாலும் புத்தியைச் சம்பாதித்துக்கொள்.

Wisdom is supreme. Get wisdom. Yes, though it costs all your possessions, get understanding.

8 ௮ நீ அதை மேன்மைப்படுத்து, அது உன்னை மேன்மைப்படுத்தும்; நீ அதைத் தழுவிக்கொண்டால், அது உனக்கு மரியாதை செலுத்தும்.

Esteem her, and she will exalt you. She will bring you to honor, when you embrace her.

9 ௯ அது உன்னுடைய தலைக்கு அலங்காரமான கிரீடத்தைக் கொடுக்கும்; அது மகிமையான கிரீடத்தை உனக்குச் சூட்டும்.

She will give to your head a garland of grace. She will deliver a crown of splendor to you."

10 ௧0 என் மகனே, கேள், என்னுடைய வார்த்தைகளை ஏற்றுக்கொள்; அப்பொழுது உன்னுடைய ஆயுளின் வருடங்கள் அதிகமாகும்.

Listen, my son, and receive my sayings. The years of your life will be many.

11 ௧௧ ஞானவழியை நான் உனக்குப் போதித்தேன்; செவ்வையான பாதைகளிலே உன்னை நடத்தினேன்.

I have taught you in the way of wisdom. I have led you in straight paths.

12 ௧௨ நீ அவைகளில் நடக்கும்போது உன்னுடைய நடைகளுக்கு இடுக்கண் உண்டாவதில்லை; நீ அவைகளில் ஓடினாலும் இடறமாட்டாய்.

When you go, your steps will not be hampered. When you run, you will not stumble.

13 ௧௩ புத்திமதியை உறுதியாகப் பற்றிக்கொள், அதை விட்டுவிடாதே; அதைக் காத்துக்கொள், அதுவே உனக்கு உயிர்.

Take firm hold of instruction. Do not let her go. Keep her, for she is your life.

14 ௧௪ துன்மார்க்கர்களுடைய பாதையில் நுழையாதே; தீயோர்களுடைய வழியில் நடக்காதே.

Do not enter into the path of the wicked. Do not walk in the way of evil men.

15 ௧௫ அதை வெறுத்துவிடு, அதின் வழியாகப் போகாதே; அதைவிட்டு விலகிக் கடந்துபோ.

Avoid it, and do not pass by it. Turn from it, and pass on.

16 ௧௬ தீங்கு செய்யாமல் அவர்களுக்கு தூக்கம் வராது; அவர்கள் யாரையாவது விழச்செய்யாமல் இருந்தால் அவர்களுடைய தூக்கம் கலைந்துபோகும்.

For they do not sleep, unless they do evil. Their sleep is taken away, unless they make someone fall.

17 ௧௭ அவர்கள் துன்மார்க்கத்தின் அப்பத்தைச் சாப்பிட்டு, கொடுமையின் இரசத்தைக் குடிக்கிறார்கள்.

For they eat the bread of wickedness, and drink the wine of violence.

18 ௧௮ நீதிமான்களுடைய பாதை நடுப்பகல்வரைக்கும் அதிகமதிகமாகப் பிரகாசிக்கிற சூரியப்பிரகாசம்போல இருக்கும்.

But the path of the righteous is like a shining light, that shines brighter and brighter until the full day.

19 ௧௯ துன்மார்க்கர்களுடைய பாதையோ காரிருளைப்போல இருக்கும்; தாங்கள் எதினால் இடறுகிறோம் என்பதை அறியமாட்டார்கள்.

The way of the wicked is like darkness. They do not know what they stumble over.

20 ௨0 என் மகனே, என்னுடைய வார்த்தைகளைக் கவனி; என்னுடைய வசனங்களுக்கு உன்னுடைய செவியைச் சாய்.

My son, attend to my words. Turn your ear to my sayings.

21 ௨௧ அவைகள் உன்னுடைய கண்களைவிட்டுப் பிரியாமல் இருப்பதாக; அவைகளை உன்னுடைய இருதயத்திற்குள்ளே காத்துக்கொள்.

Let them not depart from your eyes. Keep them in the midst of your heart.

22 ௨௨ அவைகளைக் கண்டுபிடிக்கிறவர்களுக்கு அவைகள் உயிரும், அவர்களுடைய உடலுக்கெல்லாம் ஆரோக்கியமுமாம்.

For they are life to him who finds them, and health to all of his body.

23 ௨௩ எல்லாக் காவலோடும் உன்னுடைய இருதயத்தைக் காத்துக்கொள், அதிலிருந்து ஜீவஊற்று புறப்படும்.

Guard your heart with all diligence, for out of it is the wellspring of life.

24 ௨௪ வாயின் தாறுமாறுகளை உன்னைவிட்டு அகற்றி, உதடுகளின் மாறுபாட்டை உனக்குத் தூரப்படுத்து.

Put away from yourself a perverse mouth. Put corrupt lips far from you.

25 ௨௫ உன்னுடைய கண்கள் நேராக நோக்குவதாக; உன்னுடைய கண்ணின் இமைகள் உனக்கு முன்னே செவ்வையாகப் பார்க்கட்டும்.

Let your eyes look straight ahead. Fix your gaze directly before you.

26 ௨௬ உன்னுடைய நடைகளைச் சீர்தூக்கிப்பார்; உன்னுடைய வழிகளெல்லாம் பத்திரப்பட்டிருக்கட்டும்.

Make the path of your feet level. Let all of your ways be established.

27 ௨௭ வலதுபுறமோ இடதுபுறமோ சாயாதே; உன்னுடைய காலைத் தீமைக்கு விலக்கு.

Do not turn to the right hand nor to the left. Remove your foot from evil.
