The words of king Lemuel, the prophecy that his mother taught him:
What, my son? and what, O son of my womb? and what, O son of my vows?
3 ௩ பெண்களுக்கு உன்னுடைய பெலனையும் ராஜாக்களைக் கெடுக்கும் காரியங்களுக்கு உன்னுடைய வழிகளையும் கொடுக்காதே.
Give not thy strength unto women, nor thy ways to them that destroy kings.
4 ௪ திராட்சைரசம் குடிப்பது ராஜாக்களுக்குத் தகுதியல்ல; லேமுவேலே, அது ராஜாக்களுக்குத் தகுதியல்ல; மதுபானம் பிரபுக்களுக்குத் தகுதியல்ல.
It is not for kings, Lemuel, it is not for kings to drink wine, nor for rulers [to say], Where is the strong drink?
5 ௫ மதுபானம் குடித்தால் அவர்களுடைய நியாயப்பிரமாணத்தை மறந்து, சிறுமைப்படுகிறவர்களுடைய நியாயத்தையும் புரட்டுவார்கள்.
— lest they drink and forget the law, and pervert the judgment of any of the children of affliction.
Give strong drink unto him that is ready to perish, and wine unto the bitter of soul:
let him drink, and forget his poverty, and remember his misery no more.
Open thy mouth for the dumb, for the cause of all those that are left desolate.
Open thy mouth, judge righteously, and minister justice to the afflicted and needy.
Who can find a woman of worth? for her price is far above rubies.
The heart of her husband confideth in her, and he shall have no lack of spoil.
She doeth him good, and not evil, all the days of her life.
She seeketh wool and flax, and worketh willingly with her hands.
She is like the merchants' ships: she bringeth her food from afar;
15 ௧௫ இருட்டோடு எழுந்து தன்னுடைய வீட்டாருக்கு உணவுகொடுத்து, தன்னுடைய வேலைக்காரிகளுக்குப் படியளக்கிறாள்.
And she riseth while it is yet night, and giveth meat to her household, and the day's work to her maidens.
16 ௧௬ ஒரு வயலை விசாரித்து அதை வாங்குகிறாள்; தன்னுடைய கைகளின் சம்பாத்தியத்தினால் திராட்சைத்தோட்டத்தை நாட்டுகிறாள்.
She considereth a field, and acquireth it; of the fruit of her hands she planteth a vineyard.
She girdeth her loins with strength, and maketh strong her arms.
18 ௧௮ தன்னுடைய வியாபாரம் பயனுள்ளதென்று அறிந்திருக்கிறாள்; இரவிலே அவளுடைய விளக்கு அணையாமல் இருக்கும்.
She perceiveth that her earning is good; her lamp goeth not out by night.
She putteth her hands to the distaff, and her hands hold the spindle.
She stretcheth out her hand to the afflicted, and she reacheth forth her hands to the needy.
21 ௨௧ தன்னுடைய வீட்டார் அனைவருக்கும் கம்பளி ஆடை இருக்கிறபடியால், தன்னுடைய வீட்டாரினிமித்தம் குளிருக்குப் பயப்படமாட்டாள்.
She is not afraid of the snow for her household; for all her household are clothed with scarlet.
She maketh herself coverlets; her clothing is byssus and purple.
23 ௨௩ அவளுடைய கணவன் தேசத்தின் மூப்பர்களோடு நீதிமன்றங்களில் உட்கார்ந்திருக்கும்போது பெயர் பெற்றவனாக இருக்கிறான்.
Her husband is known in the gates, when he sitteth among the elders of the land.
She maketh body linen and selleth it, and delivereth girdles unto the merchant.
Strength and dignity are her clothing, and she laugheth [at] the coming day.
She openeth her mouth with wisdom; and upon her tongue is the law of kindness.
27 ௨௭ அவள் சோம்பலின் அப்பத்தை சாப்பிடாமல், தன்னுடைய வீட்டுக்காரியம் எப்படி நடக்கிறது என்று கண்ணோக்கமாக இருக்கிறாள்.
She surveyeth the ways of her household, and eateth not the bread of idleness.
Her children rise up and call her blessed; her husband [also], and he praiseth her:
29 ௨௯ அநேகம் பெண்கள் குணசாலிகளாக இருந்தது உண்டு; நீயோ அவர்கள் எல்லோரையும்விட மேலானவள் என்று அவளைப் புகழுகிறான்.
Many daughters have done worthily, but thou excellest them all.
Gracefulness is deceitful and beauty is vain; a woman [that] feareth Jehovah, she shall be praised.
Give her of the fruit of her hands, and let her own works praise her in the gates.
