மத்தேயு 5
1 ௧ இயேசு திரளான மக்களைக் கண்டு மலையின்மேல் ஏறினார்; அவர் உட்கார்ந்தபொழுது, அவருடைய சீடர்கள் அவரிடத்தில் வந்தார்கள்.
But, seeing the multitudes, he went up into a mountain, —and, when he had taken a seat, his disciples came unto him;
and, opening his mouth, he began teaching them, saying: —
Happy, the destitute, in spirit; for, theirs, is the kingdom of the heavens;
Happy, they who mourn; for, they, shall be comforted:
Happy, the meek; for, they, shall inherit the earth:
Happy, they who hunger and thirst for righteousness; for, they, shall be filled:
Happy, the merciful; for, they, shall receive mercy:
Happy, the pure, in heart; for, they, shall, see God:
Happy, the peacemakers; for, they, shall be, called sons of God:
Happy, they who have been persecuted for righteousness’ sake; for, theirs, is the kingdom of the heavens.
11 ௧௧ “என்னிமித்தம் உங்களை நிந்தித்துத் துன்பப்படுத்தி, பலவிதமான தீமையான சொற்களையும் உங்கள்மேல் பொய்யாகச் சொல்வார்களானால் பாக்கியவான்களாக இருப்பீர்கள்;
Happy, are ye, whensoever they may reproach you and persecute you, and say every evil thing against you, falsely, for my sake:
12 ௧௨ சந்தோஷப்பட்டு மகிழ்ந்திருங்கள்; பரலோகத்தில் உங்களுடைய பலன் அதிகமாக இருக்கும்; உங்களுக்குமுன்பே வாழ்ந்த தீர்க்கதரிசிகளையும் அப்படியே துன்பப்படுத்தினார்களே.
Rejoice and exult, because, your reward, is great in the heavens; for, so, persecuted they the prophets who were before you.
13 ௧௩ நீங்கள் பூமிக்கு உப்பாக இருக்கிறீர்கள்; உப்பானது சாரமற்றுப்போனால், எதினால் சாரமாக்கப்படும்? வெளியே கொட்டப்படுவதற்கும், மனிதர்களால் மிதிக்கப்படுவதற்குமே ஒழிய வேறொன்றுக்கும் உதவாது.
Ye, are the salt of the earth; but, if the salt become tasteless, wherewith shall it be salted? it is good, for nothing, any more, save, being cast out, to be trampled on by men.
14 ௧௪ நீங்கள் உலகத்திற்கு வெளிச்சமாக இருக்கிறீர்கள்; மலையின்மேல் இருக்கிற பட்டணம் மறைந்திருக்கமாட்டாது.
Ye, are the light of the world: it is impossible for a city to be hid, on the top of a mountain, lying.
15 ௧௫ விளக்கைக் கொளுத்தி பாத்திரத்தினாலே மூடிவைக்காமல், விளக்குத்தண்டின்மேல் வைப்பார்கள்; அப்பொழுது அது வீட்டிலுள்ள அனைவருக்கும் வெளிச்சம் கொடுக்கும்.
Neither light they a lamp, and place it under the measure; but upon the lampstand, and it giveth light to all that are in the house.
16 ௧௬ இவ்விதமாக, மனிதர்கள் உங்களுடைய நற்செயல்களைக் கண்டு, பரலோகத்திலிருக்கிற உங்களுடைய பிதாவை மகிமைப்படுத்தும்படி, உங்களுடைய வெளிச்சம் அவர்களுக்கு முன்பாகப் பிரகாசிக்கக்கடவது.
In like manner, let your light shine before men, —that they may see your good works, —and glorify your Father who is in the heavens.
17 ௧௭ நியாயப்பிரமாணத்தையானாலும் தீர்க்கதரிசனங்களையானாலும் அழிக்கிறதற்கு வந்தேன் என்று நினைத்துக்கொள்ளாதேயுங்கள்; அழிக்கிறதற்கு இல்லை, நிறைவேற்றுவதற்கே வந்தேன்.
Do not think, that I came to pull down the law, or the prophets, —I came not to pull down, but to fulfil.
18 ௧௮ வானமும் பூமியும் ஒழிந்துபோனாலும், நியாயப்பிரமாணத்தில் உள்ளதெல்லாம் நிறைவேறும்வரை, அதில் ஒரு சிறு எழுத்தாவது, ஒரு எழுத்தின் உறுப்பாவது ஒழிந்துபோகாது என்று உண்மையாகவே உங்களுக்குச் சொல்லுகிறேன்.
For, verily, I say unto you, until the heaven and the earth shall pass away, one least letter, or one point, may in nowise pass away from the law, till all be accomplished.
19 ௧௯ ஆகவே, இந்தக் கட்டளைகள் எல்லாவற்றிலும் சிறிதானதொன்றையாவது மீறி, அவ்விதமாக மனிதர்களுக்குப் போதிக்கிறவன் பரலோகராஜ்யத்தில் எல்லோரையும்விட சிறியவன் எனப்படுவான்; இவைகளைக் கைக்கொண்டு போதிக்கிறவனோ, பரலோகராஜ்யத்தில் பெரியவன் எனப்படுவான்.
Whosoever, therefore, shall relax one of these commandments, the least, and teach men so, shall be called, least, in the kingdom of the heavens; but, whosoever shall do and teach, the same, shall be called, great, in the kingdom of the heavens.
20 ௨0 வேதபண்டிதர்கள் பரிசேயர்கள் என்பவர்களுடைய நீதியைவிட உங்களுடைய நீதி அதிகமாக இல்லாவிட்டால், பரலோகராஜ்யத்தில் பிரவேசிக்கமாட்டீர்கள் என்று உங்களுக்குச் சொல்லுகிறேன்.
For I say unto you, that, unless your righteousness exceed that of the Scribes and Pharisees, in nowise, may ye enter into the kingdom of the heavens.
21 ௨௧ கொலை செய்யாதிருப்பாயாக என்பதும், கொலைசெய்கிறவன் நியாயத்தீர்ப்பிற்கு உரியவனாக இருப்பான் என்பதும், முன்னோர்களுக்குச் சொல்லப்பட்டதென்று கேள்விப்பட்டிருக்கிறீர்கள்.
Ye have heard, that it was said, to them of olden time, —Thou shalt not commit murder, and, whosoever shall commit murder, shall be, liable, to judgment.
22 ௨௨ நான் உங்களுக்குச் சொல்லுகிறேன்; தன் சகோதரனை நியாயமில்லாமல் கோபித்துக்கொள்பவன் நியாயத்தீர்ப்பிற்கு உரியவனாக இருப்பான்; தன் சகோதரனை வீணனென்று சொல்லுகிறவன் ஆலோசனைச் சங்கத்தீர்ப்பிற்கு உரியவனாக இருப்பான்; மூடனே என்று சொல்லுகிறவன் எரிநரகத்திற்கு உரியவனாக இருப்பான். (Geenna g1067)
But, I, say unto you, that, every one who is angry with his brother, shall be, liable, to judgment, —and, whosoever shall say to his brother, Worthless one!, shall be, liable, to the high council; and, whosoever shall say, Rebel!, shall be, liable, unto the fiery gehenna. (Geenna g1067)
23 ௨௩ ஆகவே, நீ பலிபீடத்தில் உன் காணிக்கையைச் செலுத்த வந்து, உன்பேரில் உன் சகோதரனுக்குக் குறை உண்டென்று அங்கே நினைவுகூருவாயானால்,
If, therefore, thou be bearing thy gift towards the altar, and, there, shouldst remember that, thy brother, hath aught against thee,
24 ௨௪ அங்கே பலிபீடத்தின்முன்பு உன் காணிக்கையை வைத்துவிட்டுப்போய், முதலில் உன் சகோதரனோடு ஒப்புரவாகி, பின்பு வந்து உன் காணிக்கையைச் செலுத்து.
leave, there, thy gift before the altar, and withdraw, —first, be reconciled unto thy brother, and, then, coming, be offering thy gift.
25 ௨௫ எதிராளி உன்னை நியாயாதிபதியினிடத்தில் ஒப்புக்கொடுக்காமலும், நியாயாதிபதி உன்னைச் சேவகனிடத்தில் ஒப்புக்கொடுக்காமலும், நீ சிறைச்சாலையில் வைக்கப்படாமலும் இருக்கும்படியாக, நீ உன் எதிராளியோடு வழியில் இருக்கும்போதே சீக்கிரமாக அவனோடு சமாதானமாகு.
Be making agreement with thine adversary, quickly, while thou art with him, in the way, —lest once thine adversary deliver thee up unto the judge, and the judge, unto the officer, and, into prison, thou be cast.
26 ௨௬ இல்லாவிட்டால், நீ ஒரு காசும் குறைவில்லாமல் செலுத்தித்தீர்க்கும்வரைக்கும் சிறைச்சாலையிலிருந்து வெளியே வரமாட்டாய் என்று உண்மையாகவே உனக்குச் சொல்லுகிறேன்.
Verily, I say unto thee, In nowise, mayest thou come out from thence, until thou pay the last halfpenny.
27 ௨௭ விபசாரம் செய்யாதிருப்பாயாக என்பது முன்னோர்களுக்குச் சொல்லப்பட்டதென்று கேள்விப்பட்டிருக்கிறீர்கள்.
Ye have heard, that it was said, Thou shalt not commit adultery:
28 ௨௮ நான் உங்களுக்குச் சொல்லுகிறேன்; ஒரு பெண்ணை இச்சையோடு பார்க்கிற எவனும் தன் இருதயத்தில் அவளோடு விபசாரம் செய்துவிட்டான்.
But, I, say unto you, that, Every one who looketh on a woman so as to covet her, already, hath committed adultery with her, in his heart.
29 ௨௯ உன் வலது கண் உனக்கு இடறல் உண்டாக்கினால், அதைப் பிடுங்கி எறிந்துபோடு; உன் சரீரம் முழுவதும் நரகத்தில் தள்ளப்படுவதைவிட, உன் உறுப்புகளில் ஒன்று கெட்டுப்போவது உனக்கு நலமாக இருக்கும். (Geenna g1067)
And, if, thy right eye, is causing thee to stumble, pluck it out, and cast it from thee, —for it profiteth thee, that, one of thy members, should perish, and not, thy whole body, be cast into gehenna. (Geenna g1067)
30 ௩0 உன் வலது கை உனக்கு இடறல் உண்டாக்கினால், அதை வெட்டி எறிந்துபோடு; உன் சரீரம் முழுவதும் நரகத்தில் தள்ளப்படுவதைவிட. உன் உறுப்புகளில் ஒன்று கெட்டுப்போவது உனக்கு நலமாக இருக்கும். (Geenna g1067)
And, if, thy right hand, is causing thee to stumble, cut it off, and cast it from thee, —for it profiteth thee, that, one of thy members, should perish, and not, thy whole body, into gehenna, depart. (Geenna g1067)
31 ௩௧ தன் மனைவியை விவாகரத்து செய்கிற எவனும், அவளுக்கு விடுதலைப்பத்திரம் கொடுக்கவேண்டும் என்று சொல்லப்பட்டது.
It was said, moreover, Whosoever shall divorce his wife, let him give her a writing of divorcement;
32 ௩௨ நான் உங்களுக்குச் சொல்லுகிறேன்; வேசித்தனக் காரணத்தினாலொழிய தன் மனைவியை விவாகரத்து செய்கிறவன், அவளை விபசாரம்செய்யத் தூண்டுகிறவனாக இருப்பான்; அப்படி விவாகரத்து செய்யப்பட்டவளைத் திருமணம் செய்கிறவனும் விபசாரம் செய்கிறவனாக இருப்பான்.
But, I, say unto you, that, Everyone who divorceth his wife—saving for unfaithfulness, causeth her to be made an adulteress, —[and, whosoever shall marry a divorced woman, committeth adultery].
33 ௩௩ அன்றியும், பொய்யாணையிடாமல், உன் ஆணைகளைக் கர்த்தர் முன்னிலையில் செலுத்துவாயாக என்று முன்னோர்களுக்குச் சொல்லப்பட்டதென்று கேள்விப்பட்டிருக்கிறீர்கள்.
Again, ye have heard that it was said, to them of olden time, Thou shalt not swear falsely, —but shalt render unto the Lord, thine oaths.
34 ௩௪ நான் உங்களுக்குச் சொல்லுகிறேன்; எதையும் செய்வேன் என்று சத்தியம் செய்யவேண்டாம்; பரலோகத்தின்பேரில் சத்தியம் செய்யவேண்டாம், அது தேவனுடைய சிங்காசனம்.
But, I, tell you—not to swear, at all: Neither by heaven, because it is the, throne of God, —
35 ௩௫ பூமியின்பேரிலும் சத்தியம் செய்யவேண்டாம், அது அவருடைய பாதபடி; எருசலேமின்பேரிலும் சத்தியம் செய்யவேண்டாம், அது மகாராஜாவினுடைய நகரம்.
Nor by the earth, because it is his, footstool; nor by Jerusalem, because, it is the, city, of the Great King;
36 ௩௬ உன் தலையின்பேரிலும் சத்தியம் செய்யவேண்டாம், அதின் ஒரு முடியையாவது வெண்மையாக்கவும் கருமையாக்கவும் உன்னால் முடியாதே.
Nor, by thine own head, mayest thou swear, because thou art not able to make, one hair, white or black.
37 ௩௭ உள்ளதை உள்ளதென்றும், இல்லாததை இல்லையென்றும் சொல்லுங்கள்; இதற்கு மிஞ்சினது தீமையினால் உண்டாயிருக்கும்.
But let your word be, Yea, yea, —Nay, nay; and, what goeth beyond these, is, of evil.
Ye have heard, that it was said, —Eye for eye, and tooth for tooth.
39 ௩௯ நான் உங்களுக்குச் சொல்லுகிறேன்; தீமையோடு எதிர்த்து நிற்கவேண்டாம்; ஒருவன் உன்னை வலது கன்னத்தில் அறைந்தால், அவனுக்கு மறு கன்னத்தையும் காட்டு.
But, I, tell you, not to resist evil, —Nay, whoever is smiting thee on the right cheek, turn to him, the other also;
40 ௪0 உன்னோடு வழக்காடி உன் ஆடையை எடுத்துக்கொள்ளவேண்டுமென்று விரும்புகிறவனுக்கு உன் மேலாடையையும் கொடுத்துவிடு.
And, him who is desiring thee to be judged, and to take, thy tunic, let him have, thy mantle also.
And, whoever shall impress thee one mile, go with him two:
To him who is asking thee, give; and, him who is desiring from thee to borrow, do not thou turn away.
43 ௪௩ உனக்கடுத்தவனைச் நேசித்து, உன் சத்துருவைப் பகைப்பாயாக என்று சொல்லப்பட்டதைக் கேள்விப்பட்டிருக்கிறீர்கள்.
Ye have heard, that it was said, Thou shalt love thy neighbour, and hate thine enemy.
44 ௪௪ நான் உங்களுக்குச் சொல்லுகிறேன்; உங்களுடைய சத்துருக்களை நேசியுங்கள்; உங்களைச் சபிக்கிறவர்களை ஆசீர்வதியுங்கள்; உங்களைப் பகைக்கிறவர்களுக்கு நன்மை செய்யுங்கள்; உங்களை நிந்திக்கிறவர்களுக்காகவும் உங்களைத் துன்பப்படுத்துகிறவர்களுக்காகவும் ஜெபம்பண்ணுங்கள்.
But, I, say unto you, Be loving your enemies, and praying for them who are persecuting you:
45 ௪௫ இப்படிச் செய்வதினால் நீங்கள் பரலோகத்திலிருக்கிற உங்களுடைய பிதாவிற்குப் பிள்ளைகளாக இருப்பீர்கள்; அவர் தீயவர்கள்மேலும் நல்லவர்கள்மேலும் தமது சூரியனை உதிக்கச்செய்து, நீதியுள்ளவர்கள்மேலும் அநீதியுள்ளவர்கள்மேலும் மழையைப் பெய்யப்பண்ணுகிறார்.
That ye may become sons of your Father who is in the heavens: because, his sun, he maketh arise on evil and good, and sendeth rain, on just and unjust.
46 ௪௬ உங்களை நேசிக்கிறவர்களையே நீங்கள் நேசிப்பீர்களானால், உங்களுக்குப் பலன் என்ன? வரி வசூலிப்பவர்களும் அப்படியே செய்கிறார்கள் அல்லவா?
For, if ye love them that love you, what reward have ye? are not, even the tax-collectors, the same thing, doing?
47 ௪௭ உங்களுடைய சகோதரர்களைமட்டும் வாழ்த்துவீர்களானால், நீங்கள் விசேஷித்துச் செய்கிறது என்ன? வரி வசூலிப்பவர்களும் அப்படியே செய்கிறார்கள் அல்லவா?
And, if ye salute your brethren only, what, more than common, are ye doing? are not, even the nations, the same thing, doing?
48 ௪௮ ஆகவே, பரலோகத்திலிருக்கிற உங்களுடைய பிதா பூரண சற்குணராக இருக்கிறதுபோல, நீங்களும் பூரண சற்குணராக இருக்கக்கடவீர்கள்.
Ye, therefore, shall become, perfect: as, your heavenly Father, is perfect.
