மத்தேயு 23
Then spake Jesus to the multitude, and to his disciples,
Saying, The scribes and the Pharisees sit in Moses’ seat:
3 ௩ ஆகவே, நீங்கள் கைக்கொள்ளும்படி அவர்கள் உங்களுக்குச் சொல்லுகிற எல்லாவற்றையும் கைக்கொண்டு செய்யுங்கள்; அவர்களுடைய செய்கையின்படி செய்யாமலிருங்கள்; ஏனென்றால், அவர்கள் சொல்லுகிறார்கள், சொல்லியும் செய்யாதிருக்கிறார்கள்.
All therefore whatsoever they bid you observe, [that] observe and do; but do not ye after their works: for they say, and do not.
4 ௪ சுமக்கமுடியாத பாரமான சுமைகளைக் கட்டி மனிதர்களுடைய தோள்களின்மேல் சுமத்துகிறார்கள்; தாங்களோ ஒரு விரலினாலும் அவைகளைத் தொடமாட்டார்கள்.
For they bind heavy burdens and grievous to be borne, and lay [them] on men’s shoulders; but they themselves will not move them with one of their fingers.
5 ௫ தங்களுடைய செயல்களையெல்லாம் மனிதர்கள் காணவேண்டுமென்று செய்கிறார்கள்; தங்களுடைய காப்புநாடாக்களை அகலமாக்கி, தங்களுடைய ஆடைகளின் தொங்கல்களைப் பெரிதாக்கி,
But all their works they do for to be seen of men: they make broad their phylacteries, and enlarge the borders of their garments,
And love the uppermost rooms at feasts, and the chief seats in the synagogues,
7 ௭ சந்தைவெளிகளில் வணக்கங்களையும், மனிதர்களால் ரபீ, ரபீ, என்று அழைக்கப்படுவதையும் விரும்புகிறார்கள்.
And greetings in the markets, and to be called of men, Rabbi, Rabbi.
8 ௮ நீங்களோ ரபீ என்று அழைக்கப்படாமலிருங்கள்; கிறிஸ்து ஒருவரே உங்களுக்குப் போதகராக இருக்கிறார், நீங்கள் எல்லோரும் சகோதரர்களாக இருக்கிறீர்கள்.
But be not ye called Rabbi: for one is your Master, [even] Christ; and all ye are brethren.
9 ௯ பூமியிலே ஒருவனையும் உங்களுடைய பிதா என்று சொல்லாதிருங்கள்; பரலோகத்திலிருக்கிற ஒருவரே உங்களுக்குப் பிதாவாக இருக்கிறார்.
And call no [man] your father upon the earth: for one is your Father, which is in heaven.
10 ௧0 நீங்கள் போதகர் என்றும் அழைக்கப்படாமலிருங்கள்; கிறிஸ்து ஒருவரே உங்களுக்குப் போதகராக இருக்கிறார்.
Neither be ye called masters: for one is your Master, [even] Christ.
But he that is greatest among you shall be your servant.
And whosoever shall exalt himself shall be abased; and he that shall humble himself shall be exalted.
13 ௧௩ மாயக்காரர்களாகிய வேதபண்டிதர்களே! பரிசேயர்களே! உங்களுக்கு ஐயோ, மனிதர்கள் பிரவேசிக்கமுடியாதபடி பரலோகராஜ்யத்தைப் பூட்டிப்போடுகிறீர்கள்; நீங்கள் அதில் பிரவேசிக்கிறதுமில்லை, பிரவேசிக்கப்போகிறவர்களை பிரவேசிக்கவிடுகிறதுமில்லை.
But woe unto you, scribes and Pharisees, hypocrites! for ye shut up the kingdom of heaven against men: for ye neither go in [yourselves], neither suffer ye them that are entering to go in.
14 ௧௪ மாயக்காரர்களாகிய வேதபண்டிதர்களே! பரிசேயர்களே! உங்களுக்கு ஐயோ, பார்வைக்காக நீண்ட ஜெபம்செய்து, விதவைகளின் வீடுகளை அழித்துப்போடுகிறீர்கள்; இதினிமித்தம் அதிக தண்டனையை அடைவீர்கள்.
Woe unto you, scribes and Pharisees, hypocrites! for ye devour widows’ houses, and for a pretence make long prayer: therefore ye shall receive the greater damnation.
15 ௧௫ மாயக்காரர்களாகிய வேதபண்டிதர்களே! பரிசேயர்களே! உங்களுக்கு ஐயோ, ஒருவனை உங்களுடைய மதத்தானாக்கும்படி கடலையும் பூமியையும் சுற்றித்திரிகிறீர்கள்; அவன் உங்களுடைய மதத்தானானபோது அவனை உங்களிலும் இரட்டிப்பாக நரகத்தின் மகனாக்குகிறீர்கள். (Geenna g1067)
Woe unto you, scribes and Pharisees, hypocrites! for ye compass sea and land to make one proselyte, and when he is made, ye make him twofold more the child of hell than yourselves. (Geenna g1067)
16 ௧௬ குருடர்களான வழிகாட்டிகளே! உங்களுக்கு ஐயோ, எவனாவது தேவாலயத்தின்பேரில் சத்தியம்செய்தால் அதினால் ஒன்றுமில்லையென்றும், எவனாவது தேவாலயத்தின் பொன்னின்பேரில் சத்தியம்செய்தால் அவன் கடனாளியென்றும் சொல்லுகிறீர்கள்.
Woe unto you, [ye] blind guides, which say, Whosoever shall swear by the temple, it is nothing; but whosoever shall swear by the gold of the temple, he is a debtor!
[Ye] fools and blind: for whether is greater, the gold, or the temple that sanctifieth the gold?
18 ௧௮ மேலும், எவனாவது பலிபீடத்தின்பேரில் சத்தியம்செய்தால் அதினால் ஒன்றுமில்லையென்றும், எவனாவது அதின்மேல் இருக்கிற காணிக்கையின்பேரில் சத்தியம்செய்தால், அவன் கடனாளியென்றும் சொல்லுகிறீர்கள்.
And, Whosoever shall swear by the altar, it is nothing; but whosoever sweareth by the gift that is upon it, he is guilty.
[Ye] fools and blind: for whether [is] greater, the gift, or the altar that sanctifieth the gift?
20 ௨0 ஆகவே, பலிபீடத்தின்பேரில் சத்தியம்செய்கிறவன் அதின்பேரிலும் அதின்மேலுள்ள எல்லாவற்றின்பேரிலும் சத்தியம்செய்கிறான்.
Whoso therefore shall swear by the altar, sweareth by it, and by all things thereon.
21 ௨௧ தேவாலயத்தின்பேரில் சத்தியம்செய்கிறவன் அதின்பேரிலும் அதில் வாசமாயிருக்கிறவர்பேரிலும் சத்தியம்செய்கிறான்.
And whoso shall swear by the temple, sweareth by it, and by him that dwelleth therein.
22 ௨௨ பரலோகத்தின்பேரில் சத்தியம்செய்கிறவன் தேவனுடைய சிங்காசனத்தின்பேரிலும் அதில் வீற்றிருக்கிறவர்பேரிலும் சத்தியம்செய்கிறான்.
And he that shall swear by heaven, sweareth by the throne of God, and by him that sitteth thereon.
23 ௨௩ மாயக்காரர்களாகிய வேதபண்டிதர்களே! பரிசேயர்களே! உங்களுக்கு ஐயோ, நீங்கள் புதினாவிலும் வெந்தயத்திலும் சீரகத்திலும் தசமபாகம் செலுத்தி, நியாயப்பிரமாணத்தில் கற்பித்திருக்கிற விசேஷித்தவைகளாகிய நீதியையும் இரக்கத்தையும் விசுவாசத்தையும் விட்டுவிட்டீர்கள், இவைகளையும் செய்யவேண்டும், அவைகளையும் விடாமலிருக்கவேண்டுமே.
Woe unto you, scribes and Pharisees, hypocrites! for ye pay tithe of mint and anise and cummin, and have omitted the weightier [matters] of the law, judgment, mercy, and faith: these ought ye to have done, and not to leave the other undone.
24 ௨௪ குருடர்களான வழிகாட்டிகளே, கொசு இல்லாதபடி வடிகட்டி, ஒட்டகத்தை விழுங்குகிறவர்களாக இருக்கிறீர்கள்.
[Ye] blind guides, which strain at a gnat, and swallow a camel.
25 ௨௫ மாயக்காரர்களாகிய வேதபண்டிதர்களே! பரிசேயர்களே! உங்களுக்கு ஐயோ, உணவு மற்றும் தண்ணீர் பாத்திரங்களின் வெளிப்புறத்தைச் சுத்தமாக்குகிறீர்கள்; உட்புறத்திலோ அவைகள் கொள்ளையினாலும் அநீதத்தினாலும் நிறைந்திருக்கிறது.
Woe unto you, scribes and Pharisees, hypocrites! for ye make clean the outside of the cup and of the platter, but within they are full of extortion and excess.
26 ௨௬ குருடனான பரிசேயனே! உணவு மற்றும் தண்ணீர் பாத்திரங்களின் வெளிப்புறம் சுத்தமாகும்படி அவைகளின் உட்புறத்தை முதலாவது சுத்தமாக்கு.
[Thou] blind Pharisee, cleanse first that [which is] within the cup and platter, that the outside of them may be clean also.
27 ௨௭ மாயக்காரர்களாகிய வேதபண்டிதர்களே! பரிசேயர்களே! உங்களுக்கு ஐயோ, வெள்ளையடிக்கப்பட்ட கல்லறைகளுக்கு ஒப்பாக இருக்கிறீர்கள், அவைகள் வெளியே அலங்காரமாகக் காணப்படும், உள்ளேயோ மரித்தவர்களின் எலும்புகளினாலும் எல்லா அசுத்தத்தினாலும் நிறைந்திருக்கும்.
Woe unto you, scribes and Pharisees, hypocrites! for ye are like unto whited sepulchres, which indeed appear beautiful outward, but are within full of dead [men’s] bones, and of all uncleanness.
28 ௨௮ அப்படியே நீங்களும் வெளியே மனிதர்களுக்கு நீதிமான்களாகக் காணப்படுகிறீர்கள்; உள்ளத்திலோ மாயத்தினாலும் அக்கிரமத்தினாலும் நிறைந்திருக்கிறீர்கள்.
Even so ye also outwardly appear righteous unto men, but within ye are full of hypocrisy and iniquity.
29 ௨௯ மாயக்காரர்களாகிய வேதபண்டிதர்களே! பரிசேயர்களே! உங்களுக்கு ஐயோ, நீங்கள் தீர்க்கதரிசிகளின் கல்லறைகளைக் கட்டி, நீதிமான்களின் சமாதிகளை அலங்கரித்து:
Woe unto you, scribes and Pharisees, hypocrites! because ye build the tombs of the prophets, and garnish the sepulchres of the righteous,
30 ௩0 எங்களுடைய பிதாக்களின் நாட்களில் இருந்திருந்தோமானால், அவர்களோடு நாங்கள் தீர்க்கதரிசிகளின் இரத்தப்பழிக்கு உடன்பட்டிருக்கமாட்டோம் என்கிறீர்கள்.
And say, If we had been in the days of our fathers, we would not have been partakers with them in the blood of the prophets.
31 ௩௧ ஆகவே, தீர்க்கதரிசிகளைக் கொலைசெய்தவர்களுக்குப் பிள்ளைகளாக இருக்கிறீர்கள் என்று உங்களைக்குறித்து நீங்களே சாட்சிகளாக இருக்கிறீர்கள்.
Wherefore ye be witnesses unto yourselves, that ye are the children of them which killed the prophets.
Fill ye up then the measure of your fathers.
33 ௩௩ சர்ப்பங்களே, விரியன்பாம்பு குட்டிகளே! நரக ஆக்கினைக்கு எப்படித் தப்பித்துக்கொள்ளுவீர்கள்? (Geenna g1067)
[Ye] serpents, [ye] generation of vipers, how can ye escape the damnation of hell? (Geenna g1067)
34 ௩௪ ஆகவே, இதோ, தீர்க்கதரிசிகளையும் ஞானிகளையும் வேதபண்டிதர்களையும் உங்களிடம் அனுப்புகிறேன்; அவர்களில் சிலரைக் கொன்று சிலுவைகளில் அறைவீர்கள், சிலரை உங்களுடைய ஜெப ஆலயங்களில் சாட்டையினால் அடித்து, ஊருக்கு ஊர் துன்பப்படுத்துவீர்கள்;
Wherefore, behold, I send unto you prophets, and wise men, and scribes: and [some] of them ye shall kill and crucify; and [some] of them shall ye scourge in your synagogues, and persecute [them] from city to city:
35 ௩௫ நீதிமானாகிய ஆபேலின் இரத்தம் முதல் தேவாலயத்திற்கும் பலிபீடத்திற்கும் நடுவே நீங்கள் கொலைசெய்த பரகியாவின் குமாரனாகிய சகரியாவின் இரத்தம்வரைக்கும், பூமியின்மேல் சிந்தப்பட்ட நீதிமான்களின் இரத்தப்பழியெல்லாம் உங்கள்மேல் வரும்படியாக இப்படிச் செய்வீர்கள்.
That upon you may come all the righteous blood shed upon the earth, from the blood of righteous Abel unto the blood of Zacharias son of Barachias, whom ye slew between the temple and the altar.
Verily I say unto you, All these things shall come upon this generation.
37 ௩௭ எருசலேமே, எருசலேமே, தீர்க்கதரிசிகளைக் கொலைசெய்து, உன்னிடத்தில் அனுப்பப்பட்டவர்களைக் கல்லெறிகிறவளே! கோழி தன் குஞ்சுகளைத் தன் சிறகுகளின்கீழே கூட்டிச்சேர்த்துக்கொள்ளுவதுபோல நான் எத்தனைமுறையோ உன் பிள்ளைகளைக் கூட்டிச்சேர்த்துக்கொள்ள விருப்பமாக இருந்தேன்; உங்களுக்கோ விருப்பமில்லாமல்போனது.
O Jerusalem, Jerusalem, [thou] that killest the prophets, and stonest them which are sent unto thee, how often would I have gathered thy children together, even as a hen gathereth her chickens under [her] wings, and ye would not!
Behold, your house is left unto you desolate.
39 ௩௯ கர்த்தருடைய நாமத்தினாலே வருகிறவர் போற்றப்பட்டவர் என்று நீங்கள் சொல்லும்வரை, இதுமுதல் என்னைக் காணாதிருப்பீர்கள் என்று உங்களுக்குச் சொல்லுகிறேன் என்றார்.
For I say unto you, Ye shall not see me henceforth, till ye shall say, Blessed [is] he that cometh in the name of the Lord.
