Forasmuch as many have undertaken to draw up a relation concerning the matters fully believed among us,
2 ௨ ஆரம்பமுதல் கண்கூடாகப் பார்த்து வசனத்தைப் போதித்தவர்கள் எங்களுக்கு ஒப்புவித்தபடியே அவைகளைக்குறித்து சரித்திரம் எழுத அநேகம்பேர் முயற்சித்தனர்.
as those who from the beginning were eye-witnesses of and attendants on the Word have delivered them to us,
3 ௩ ஆகவே, ஆரம்பமுதல் எல்லாவற்றையும் திட்டமாக விசாரித்து அறிந்த நானும் உமக்கு உபதேசிக்கப்பட்ட காரியங்களின் நிச்சயத்தை நீர் அறியவேண்டும் என்று,
it has seemed good to me also, accurately acquainted from the origin with all things, to write to thee with method, most excellent Theophilus,
that thou mightest know the certainty of those things in which thou hast been instructed.
5 ௫ யூதேயாதேசத்தின் ராஜாவாகிய ஏரோதின் நாட்களில், அபியா என்னும் ஆசாரிய வம்சத்தைச் சேர்ந்த சகரியா என்னும் பெயர்கொண்ட ஆசாரியன் ஒருவன் இருந்தான். அவனுடைய மனைவி ஆரோனுடைய சந்ததியில் ஒருத்தி, அவளுடைய பெயர் எலிசபெத்து.
There was in the days of Herod, the king of Judaea, a certain priest, by name Zacharias, of the course of Abia, and his wife of the daughters of Aaron, and her name Elizabeth.
6 ௬ அவர்கள் இருவரும் கர்த்தர் கொடுத்த எல்லாக் கட்டளைகளின்படியும் நியமங்களின்படியும் குற்றமற்றவர்களாக நடந்து, தேவனுக்குமுன்பாக நீதியுள்ளவர்களாக இருந்தார்கள்.
And they were both just before God, walking in all the commandments and ordinances of the Lord blameless.
7 ௭ எலிசபெத்து மலடியாக இருந்தபடியால், அவர்களுக்குப் பிள்ளையில்லாதிருந்தது; இருவரும் முதிர்வயதானவர்களாகவும் இருந்தார்கள்.
And they had no child, because Elizabeth was barren, and they were both advanced in years.
8 ௮ அப்படியிருக்க, அவன் தன் ஆசாரிய முறைமைகளின்படி தேவசந்நிதியிலே ஆசாரிய ஊழியம் செய்துவருகிற காலத்தில்,
And it came to pass, as he fulfilled his priestly service before God in the order of his course,
9 ௯ ஆசாரிய ஊழிய முறைகளின்படி அவன் தேவாலயத்திற்குச் சென்று தூபம் காட்டுகிறதற்காகத் தேர்ந்தெடுக்கப்பட்டான்.
it fell to him by lot, according to the custom of the priesthood, to enter into the temple of the Lord to burn incense.
And all the multitude of the people were praying without at the hour of incense.
11 ௧௧ அப்பொழுது கர்த்தருடைய தூதன் ஒருவன் தூப பீடத்தின் வலதுபக்கத்திலே நின்று அவனுக்குத் தரிசனமானான்.
And an angel of [the] Lord appeared to him, standing on the right of the altar of incense.
And Zacharias was troubled, seeing [him], and fear fell upon him.
13 ௧௩ கர்த்தருடைய தூதன் அவனைப் பார்த்து: சகரியாவே, பயப்படாதே, உன் விண்ணப்பம் கேட்கப்பட்டது; உன் மனைவியாகிய எலிசபெத்து உனக்கு ஒரு குமாரனைப் பெற்றெடுப்பாள், அவனுக்கு யோவான் என்று பெயர் இடுவாயாக.
But the angel said to him, Fear not, Zacharias, because thy supplication has been heard, and thy wife Elizabeth shall bear thee a son, and thou shalt call his name John.
And he shall be to thee joy and rejoicing, and many shall rejoice at his birth.
15 ௧௫ அவன் கர்த்தருக்கு முன்பாகப் பெரியவனாக இருப்பான், திராட்சைரசமும் மதுபானமும் குடிக்கமாட்டான், அவன் எலிசபெத்தின் கர்ப்பத்தில் இருக்கும்போதே பரிசுத்த ஆவியானவரால் நிரப்பப்பட்டிருப்பான்.
For he shall be great before [the] Lord, and he shall drink no wine nor strong drink; and he shall be filled with [the] Holy Spirit, even from his mother's womb.
16 ௧௬ அவன் இஸ்ரவேல் வம்சத்தாரில் அநேகரைப் பாவங்களைவிட்டு, அவர்களுடைய தேவனாகிய கர்த்தரிடத்திற்குத் திருப்புவான்.
And many of the sons of Israel shall he turn to [the] Lord their God.
17 ௧௭ பிதாக்களுடைய இருதயங்களைப் பிள்ளைகளிடத்திற்கும், கீழ்ப்படியாதவர்களை நீதிமான்களுடைய ஞானத்திற்கும் திருப்பி, உத்தமமான மக்களை கர்த்தருக்கு ஆயத்தப்படுத்த, அவன் எலியாவின் ஆவியும் பலமும் உள்ளவனாக கர்த்தருக்கு முன்னே நடப்பான் என்றான்.
And he shall go before him in [the] spirit and power of Elias, to turn hearts of fathers to children, and disobedient ones to [the] thoughts of just [men], to make ready for [the] Lord a prepared people.
18 ௧௮ அப்பொழுது சகரியா தேவதூதனை நோக்கி: இதை நான் எப்படி அறிவேன்; நான் முதிர்வயதானவனாக இருக்கிறேன், என் மனைவியும் வயதானவளாக இருக்கிறாளே என்றான்.
And Zacharias said to the angel, How shall I know this, for I am an old man, and my wife advanced in years?
19 ௧௯ தேவதூதன் அவனுக்கு மறுமொழியாக: நான் தேவ சந்நிதானத்தில் நிற்கிற காபிரியேல் என்பவன்; உன்னுடனே பேசவும், உனக்கு இந்த நற்செய்தியை அறிவிக்கவும் அனுப்பப்பட்டு வந்தேன்;
And the angel answering, said to him, I am Gabriel, who stand before God, and I have been sent to speak to thee, and to bring these glad tidings to thee;
20 ௨0 இதோ, குறித்த காலத்திலே நிறைவேறப்போகிற என் வார்த்தைகளை நீ விசுவாசிக்காதபடியால் இவைகள் நிறைவேறும் நாள்வரை நீ பேசமுடியாமல் ஊமையாக இருப்பாய் என்றான்.
and behold, thou shalt be silent and not able to speak, till the day in which these things shall take place, because thou hast not believed my words, the which shall be fulfilled in their time.
21 ௨௧ மக்கள் சகரியாவுக்காக நீண்டநேரம் காத்திருந்து, அவன் தேவாலயத்தில் இருந்து வெளியே வர தாமதம் செய்ததினால் ஆச்சரியப்பட்டார்கள்.
And the people were awaiting Zacharias, and they wondered at his delaying in the temple.
22 ௨௨ அவன் வெளியே வந்தபோது மக்களிடத்தில் பேச முடியாமலிருந்தான்; எனவே தேவாலயத்தில் அவன் ஒரு தரிசனத்தைப் பார்த்தான் என்று அறிந்துகொண்டார்கள். அவன் ஊமையாக இருந்தபடியால் அவர்களுக்கு சைகைகாட்டினான்.
But when he came out he could not speak to them, and they recognised that he had seen a vision in the temple. And he was making signs to them, and continued dumb.
And it came to pass, when the days of his service were completed, he departed to his house.
24 ௨௪ அதற்குப்பின்பு, அவன் மனைவியாகிய எலிசபெத்து கர்ப்பந்தரித்து: மக்கள் மத்தியில் எனக்கு உண்டாயிருந்த அவமானத்தை நீக்கும்படியாகக் கர்த்தர் இந்த நாட்களில் என்மேல் இரக்கம் வைத்து,
Now after these days, Elizabeth his wife conceived, and hid herself five months, saying,
Thus has [the] Lord done to me in [these] days in which he looked upon [me] to take away my reproach among men.
26 ௨௬ எலிசபெத்தின் ஆறாம் மாதத்திலே காபிரியேல் என்னும் தூதன், கலிலேயாவிலுள்ள நாசரேத்து என்னும் ஊரில்,
But in the sixth month, the angel Gabriel was sent of God to a city of Galilee, of which [the] name [was] Nazareth,
27 ௨௭ தாவீதின் வம்சத்தை சேர்ந்த யோசேப்பு என்கிற பெயருள்ள மனிதனுக்கு நிச்சயிக்கப்பட்டிருந்த ஒரு கன்னிப் பெண்ணிடத்திற்கு தேவனாலே அனுப்பப்பட்டான்; அந்தக் கன்னிப் பெண்ணின் பெயர் மரியாள்.
to a virgin betrothed to a man whose name [was] Joseph, of the house of David; and the virgin's name [was] Mary.
28 ௨௮ அவள் இருந்த வீட்டில் தேவதூதன் தோன்றி: கிருபை பெற்றவளே, வாழ்க, கர்த்தர் உன்னுடனே இருக்கிறார், பெண்களுக்குள்ளே நீ ஆசீர்வதிக்கப்பட்டவள் என்றான்.
And the angel came in to her, and said, Hail, [thou] favoured one! the Lord [is] with thee: [blessed art thou amongst women].
29 ௨௯ அவளோ அவனைப் பார்த்து, அவன் வார்த்தையினால் கலங்கி, இந்த வாழ்த்துக்கள் எப்படிப்பட்டதோ என்று சிந்தித்துக்கொண்டிருந்தாள்.
But she, [seeing] [the angel], was troubled at his word, and reasoned in her mind what this salutation might be.
And the angel said to her, Fear not, Mary, for thou hast found favour with God;
and behold, thou shalt conceive in the womb and bear a son, and thou shalt call his name Jesus.
32 ௩௨ அவர் பெரியவராக இருப்பார், உன்னதமான தேவனுடைய குமாரன் எனப்படுவார்; கர்த்தராகிய தேவன் அவருடைய பிதாவாகிய தாவீதின் சிங்காசனத்தை அவருக்குக் கொடுப்பார்.
He shall be great, and shall be called Son of [the] Highest; and [the] Lord God shall give him the throne of David his father;
33 ௩௩ அவர் யாக்கோபின் குடும்பத்தாரை என்றென்றைக்கும் அரசாளுவார்; அவருடைய இராஜ்யத்திற்கு முடிவு இல்லை என்றான். (aiōn g165)
and he shall reign over the house of Jacob for the ages, and of his kingdom there shall not be an end. (aiōn g165)
34 ௩௪ அதற்கு மரியாள் தேவதூதனை நோக்கி: நான் கன்னிப்பெண்ணாய் இருக்கிறேனே, இது எப்படி நடக்கும்? என்றாள்.
But Mary said to the angel, How shall this be, since I know not a man?
35 ௩௫ தேவதூதன் அவளுக்கு மறுமொழியாக; பரிசுத்த ஆவியானவர் உன்மேல் வருவார்; உன்னதமான தேவனுடைய பலம் உன்னை மூடும்; எனவே உன் கர்ப்பத்தில் பிறக்கும் இந்தப் பரிசுத்தக் குழந்தை, தேவனுடைய குமாரன் என்று அழைக்கப்படும்.
And the angel answering said to her, [The] Holy Spirit shall come upon thee, and power of [the] Highest overshadow thee, wherefore the holy thing also which shall be born shall be called Son of God.
36 ௩௬ இதோ, உன் இனத்தைச் சேர்ந்த எலிசபெத்தும் தன்னுடைய முதிர்வயதிலே ஒரு குமாரனைக் கர்ப்பம் தரித்திருக்கிறாள்; குழந்தை இல்லாதவள் என்று சொல்லப்பட்ட அவளுக்கு இது ஆறாவது மாதம்.
And behold, Elizabeth, thy kinswoman, she also has conceived a son in her old age, and this is the sixth month to her that was called barren:
for nothing shall be impossible with God.
38 ௩௮ அதற்கு மரியாள்: இதோ, நான் ஆண்டவருக்கு அடிமை, உம்முடைய வார்த்தையின்படி எனக்கு நடக்கட்டும் என்றாள். அப்பொழுது தேவதூதன் அவளைவிட்டுப் போய்விட்டான்.
And Mary said, Behold the bondmaid of [the] Lord; be it to me according to thy word. And the angel departed from her.
And Mary, rising up in those days, went into the hill country with haste, to a city of Judah,
and entered into the house of Zacharias, and saluted Elizabeth.
41 ௪௧ எலிசபெத்து மரியாளுடைய வாழ்த்துக்களைக் கேட்டபொழுது, அவளுடைய கர்ப்பத்தில் இருந்த குழந்தை துள்ளியது; எலிசபெத்து பரிசுத்த ஆவியானவரால் நிரப்பப்பட்டு,
And it came to pass, as Elizabeth heard the salutation of Mary, the babe leaped in her womb; and Elizabeth was filled with [the] Holy Spirit,
42 ௪௨ அதிக சத்தமாக: பெண்களுக்குள்ளே நீ ஆசீர்வதிக்கப்பட்டவள், உன் கர்ப்பத்தின் கனியும் ஆசீர்வதிக்கப்பட்டது.
and cried out with a loud voice and said, Blessed [art] thou amongst women, and blessed the fruit of thy womb.
And whence [is] this to me, that the mother of my Lord should come to me?
44 ௪௪ இதோ, நீ வாழ்த்தின சத்தம் என் காதில் விழுந்தவுடனே, என் கர்ப்பத்திலுள்ள குழந்தை மகிழ்ச்சியால் துள்ளியது.
For behold, as the voice of thy salutation sounded in my ears, the babe leaped with joy in my womb.
And blessed [is] she that has believed, for there shall be a fulfilment of the things spoken to her from [the] Lord.
And Mary said, My soul magnifies the Lord,
and my spirit has rejoiced in God my Saviour.
48 ௪௮ தேவன் அடிமையாகிய என்னுடைய தாழ்மையை நோக்கிப்பார்த்தார்; இதோ, இனி எல்லா வம்சங்களும் என்னை பாக்கியம் பெற்றவள் என்பார்கள்.
For he has looked upon the low estate of his bondmaid; for behold, from henceforth all generations shall call me blessed.
For the Mighty One has done to me great things, and holy [is] his name;
and his mercy [is] to generations and generations to them that fear him.
51 ௫௧ அவர் தம்முடைய கரங்களினாலே வல்லமையுள்ள காரியங்களைச் செய்தார்; இருதய சிந்தைகளில் பெருமையுள்ளவர்களைச் சிதறிப்போகப்பண்ணினார்.
He has wrought strength with his arm; he has scattered haughty [ones] in the thought of their heart.
He has put down rulers from thrones, and exalted the lowly.
53 ௫௩ பசியுள்ளவர்களுக்கு நன்மையானதைக் கொடுத்து, செல்வந்தர்களுக்கு ஒன்றும் கொடுக்காமல் வெறுமையாக அனுப்பிவிட்டார்.
He has filled the hungry with good things, and sent away the rich empty.
54 ௫௪ நம்முடைய முற்பிதாக்களுக்கு அவர் சொன்னபடியே, ஆபிரகாமுக்கும் அவன் வம்சத்திற்கும் எப்பொழுதும் இரக்கம் செய்ய நினைத்து, (aiōn g165)
He has helped Israel his servant, in order to remember mercy,
(as he spoke to our fathers, ) to Abraham and to his seed for ever. (aiōn g165)
56 ௫௬ மரியாள் ஏறக்குறைய மூன்று மாதங்கள் எலிசெபெத்துடன் தங்கியிருந்து, பின்பு தன் வீட்டிற்குத் திரும்பிப்போனாள்.
And Mary abode with her about three months, and returned to her house.
But the time was fulfilled for Elizabeth that she should bring forth, and she gave birth to a son.
58 ௫௮ கர்த்தர் அவள்மேல் எவ்வளவு இரக்கமாக இருந்தார் என்று அவள் அருகில் வசிப்பவர்களும் சொந்தங்களும் கேள்விப்பட்டு, அவளோடு சேர்ந்து சந்தோஷப்பட்டார்கள்.
And her neighbours and kinsfolk heard that [the] Lord had magnified his mercy with her, and they rejoiced with her.
59 ௫௯ எட்டாவது நாளிலே குழந்தைக்கு விருத்தசேதனம்பண்ண அவர்கள் எல்லோரும் கூடிவந்து, குழந்தையின் தகப்பனுடைய பெயராகிய சகரியா என்ற பெயரையே குழந்தைக்கும் வைக்க விரும்பினார்கள்.
And it came to pass on the eighth day they came to circumcise the child, and they called it after the name of his father, Zacharias.
60 ௬0 அப்பொழுது எலிசெபெத்து: “அப்படி வேண்டாம், குழந்தைக்கு யோவான் என்று பெயர் வைக்கவேண்டும் என்றாள்.
And his mother answering said, No; but he shall be called John.
And they said to her, There is no one among thy kinsfolk who is called by this name.
62 ௬௨ சகரியாவைப் பார்த்து: குழந்தைக்கு என்ன பெயர் வைக்க விரும்புகிறீர் என்று சைகையினால் கேட்டார்கள்.
And they made signs to his father as to what he might wish it to be called.
63 ௬௩ அவன் எழுத்துப் பலகையைக் கேட்டு வாங்கி,” இவன் பெயர் யோவான்,” என்று எழுதினான்; எல்லோரும் ஆச்சரியப்பட்டார்கள்.
And having asked for a writing-table, he wrote saying, John is his name. And they all wondered.
And his mouth was opened immediately, and his tongue, and he spake, blessing God.
65 ௬௫ அதினால் அவர்களைச் சுற்றி வாழ்ந்த அனைவருக்கும் பயம் உண்டானது. மேலும் யூதேயா மலைநாடு முழுவதும் இந்தச் செய்தி பரவி, இதைக்குறித்து அதிகமாகப் பேசப்பட்டது.
And fear came upon all who dwelt round about them; and in the whole hill-country of Judaea all these things were the subject of conversation.
66 ௬௬ இதைக் கேள்விப்பட்டவர்கள் எல்லோரும் தங்களுடைய மனதிலே நடந்தவைகளை நினைத்து, இந்தக் குழந்தை வளர்ந்து எப்படிப்பட்ட காரியங்களைச் செய்யுமோ என்றார்கள். கர்த்தருடைய கரம் அந்தக் குழந்தையோடு இருந்தது.
And all who heard them laid them up in their heart, saying, What then will this child be? And [the] Lord's hand was with him.
And Zacharias his father was filled with [the] Holy Spirit, and prophesied, saying,
Blessed be [the] Lord the God of Israel, because he has visited and wrought redemption for his people,
and raised up a horn of deliverance for us in the house of David his servant;
as he spoke by [the] mouth of his holy prophets, who have been since the world began; (aiōn g165)
71 ௭௧ உங்களுடைய சத்துருக்களின் கைகளில் இருந்து நீங்கள் விடுதலையாக்கப்பட்டு, உயிரோடிருக்கும் நாட்களெல்லாம் பயமில்லாமல் எனக்கு முன்பாகப் பரிசுத்தத்தோடும் நீதியோடும் எனக்கு ஊழியம் செய்யவும் கட்டளையிடுவேன் என்று,
deliverance from our enemies and out of the hand of all who hate us;
to fulfil mercy with our fathers and remember his holy covenant,
[the] oath which he swore to Abraham our father,
74 ௭௪ தமது மக்களைச் சந்தித்து மீட்டுக்கொண்டு, நம்முடைய சத்துருக்களிடம் இருந்தும், நம்மைப் பகைக்கிற எல்லோருடைய கைகளில் இருந்தும், நம்மை இரட்சிப்பதற்காக,
to give us, that, saved out of the hand of our enemies, we should serve him without fear
in piety and righteousness before him all our days.
76 ௭௬ என் மகனே, நீ உன்னதமான தேவனுடைய தீர்க்கதரிசி என்று அழைக்கப்படுவாய்; நீ கர்த்தருக்கு வழிகளை ஆயத்தம்பண்ணவும்,
And thou, child, shalt be called [the] prophet of [the] Highest; for thou shalt go before the face of [the] Lord to make ready his ways;
77 ௭௭ நமது தேவனுடைய உருக்கமான இரக்கத்தினாலே அவருடைய மக்களுக்குப் பாவமன்னிப்பாகிய இரட்சிப்பைத் தெரியப்படுத்தவும், அவருக்கு முன்னே நடந்துபோவாய்.
to give knowledge of deliverance to his people by [the] remission of their sins
on account of [the] bowels of mercy of our God; wherein [the] dayspring from on high has visited us,
79 ௭௯ நம்முடைய கால்களைச் சமாதானத்தின் வழியிலே நடத்தவும், அந்த இரக்கத்தினாலே உன்னதத்திலிருந்து தோன்றிய சூரியன் நம்மிடம் வந்திருக்கிறது” என்றான்.
to shine upon them who were sitting in darkness and in [the] shadow of death, to guide our feet into [the] way of peace.
80 ௮0 அந்தப் பிள்ளை வளர்ந்து, ஆவியிலே பெலனடைந்து, இஸ்ரவேல் மக்களுக்கு வெளிப்படையாக உபதேசிக்கும் நாள் வரும்வரைக்கும் வனாந்திரங்களிலே வாழ்ந்து வந்தான்.
— And the child grew and was strengthened in spirit; and he was in the deserts until the day of his shewing to Israel.
