நியாயாதிபதிகள் 19
1 ௧ இஸ்ரவேலில் ராஜாவே இல்லாத அந்த நாட்களிலே, எப்பிராயீம் மலைகள் அருகே தங்கின ஒரு லேவியன் இருந்தான்; அவன் யூதாவிலுள்ள பெத்லெகேம் ஊராளாகிய ஒரு பெண்ணைத் தனக்கு மறுமனையாட்டியாக வைத்திருந்தான்.
Also in those dayes, when there was no king in Israel, a certaine Leuite dwelt on the side of mount Ephraim, and tooke to wife a concubine out of Beth-lehem Iudah,
2 ௨ அவள் அவனுக்குத் துரோகமாக, விபச்சாரம்செய்து, அவனை விட்டு, யூதா தேசத்துப் பெத்லெகேம் ஊரிலிருக்கிற தன் தகப்பனுடைய வீட்டிற்குப் போய், அங்கே நான்கு மாதங்கள் வரை இருந்தாள்.
And his concubine played ye whore there, and went away from him vnto her fathers house to Beth-lehem Iudah, and there continued the space of foure moneths.
3 ௩ அவளுடைய கணவன் அவளை சம்மதிக்கவும், அவளைத் திரும்ப அழைத்துவரவும், இரண்டு கழுதைகளை ஆயத்தப்படுத்தி, தன்னுடைய வேலைக்காரனைக் கூட்டிக்கொண்டு, அவளிடத்திற்குப் போனான்; அப்பொழுது அவள் அவனைத் தன்னுடைய தகப்பன் வீட்டிற்கு அழைத்துக்கொண்டு போனாள்; பெண்ணின் தகப்பன் அவனைப் பார்த்தபோது சந்தோஷமாக ஏற்றுக்கொண்டு,
And her husband arose and went after her, to speake friendly vnto her, and to bring her againe: he had also his seruant with him, and a couple of asses: and she brought him vnto her fathers house, and when the yong womans father sawe him, he reioyced of his comming.
4 ௪ பெண்ணின் தகப்பனான அவனுடைய மாமன் அவனை, மூன்றுநாட்கள் அங்கே தங்கும்படி சம்மதிக்கவைத்ததினால். அவன் அங்கே அவனோடிருந்தான்; அவர்கள் அங்கே சாப்பிட்டுக் குடித்து இரவு தங்கினார்கள்.
And his father in lawe, the yong womans father reteined him: and he abode with him three dayes: so they did eate and drinke, and lodged there.
5 ௫ நான்காம் நாள் அதிகாலையில் அவர்கள் எழுந்து, அவன் பயணப்படும்போது, பெண்ணின் தகப்பன் தன்னுடைய மருமகனை நோக்கி: கொஞ்சம் அப்பம் சாப்பிட்டு, உன்னுடைய மனதைத் தேற்றிக்கொள்; பின்பு நீங்கள் போகலாம் என்றான்.
And when the fourth day came, they arose earely in the morning, and he prepared to depart: then the yong womans father said vnto his sonne in lawe, Comfort thine heart with a morsel of bread, and then go your way.
6 ௬ அவர்கள் உட்கார்ந்து, இருவரும் சாப்பிட்டுக் குடித்தார்கள்; பெண்ணின் தகப்பன் அந்த மனிதனைப் பார்த்து: நீ தயவுசெய்து, உன்னுடைய இருதயம் மகிழ்ச்சியடைய இரவும் இரு என்றான்.
So they sate downe, and did eate and drinke both of them together. And the yong womans father said vnto the man, Be content, I pray thee, and tary all night, and let thine heart be merie.
7 ௭ அப்படியே போகும்படி அந்த மனிதன் எழுந்தபோது, அவனுடைய மாமன் அவனை வருந்திக்கொண்டதினால், அவன் அன்று இரவும் அங்கே இருந்தான்.
And when the man rose vp to depart, his father in lawe was earnest: therefore he returned, and lodged there.
8 ௮ ஐந்தாம் நாளிலே அவன் போகும்படி அதிகாலையில் எழுந்தபோது, பெண்ணின் தகப்பன்: இருந்து உன்னுடைய இருதயத்தைத் தேற்றிக்கொள் என்றான்; அப்படியே மாலைவரை இருந்து, இருவரும் சாப்பிட்டார்கள்.
And he arose vp earely the fifth day to depart, and the yong womans father saide, Comfort thine heart, I pray thee: and they taryed vntill after midday, and they both did eate.
9 ௯ பின்பு அவனும், அவன் மறுமனையாட்டியும், அவன் வேலைக்காரனும் போகும்படி எழுந்தபோது, பெண்ணின் தகப்பனான அவனுடைய மாமன்: இதோ, பொழுது மறையப்போகிறது, சாயங்காலமுமானது; இரவு இங்கே இருங்கள்; பார், மாலைமயங்குகிற வேளையானது: உன்னுடைய இருதயம் சந்தோஷமாக இருக்கும்படி, இங்கே இரவு தங்கி நாளை அதிகாலையில் எழுந்து, உன்னுடைய வீட்டிற்குப் போகலாம் என்றான்.
Afterwarde when the man arose to depart with his concubine and his seruant, his father in lawe, the yong womans father said vnto him, Beholde nowe, the day draweth towarde euen: I pray you, tary all night: beholde, the sunne goeth to rest: lodge here, that thine heart may be merie, and to morowe get you earely vpon your way, and goe to thy tent.
10 ௧0 அந்த மனிதனோ, இரவு தங்க மனதில்லாமல், இரண்டு கழுதைகள்மேலும் சேணம்வைத்து, தன்னுடைய மறுமனையாட்டியைக் கூட்டிக்கொண்டு, எழுந்து புறப்பட்டு, எருசலேமாகிய எபூசுக்கு நேராக வந்தான்.
But the man would not tarry, but arose and departed, and came ouer against Iebus, (which is Ierusalem) and his two asses laden, and his concubine were with him.
11 ௧௧ அவர்கள் எபூசுக்கு அருகே வரும்போது, இரவு நேரமானது; அப்பொழுது வேலைக்காரன் தன்னுடைய எஜமானை நோக்கி: எபூசியர்கள் இருக்கிற இந்தப் பட்டணத்திற்குப் போய், அங்கே இரவு தங்கலாம் என்றான்.
When they were neere to Iebus, the day was sore spent, and the seruant said vnto his master, Come, I pray thee, and let vs turne into this citie of the Iebusites, and lodge all night there.
12 ௧௨ அதற்கு அவன் எஜமான் நாம் வழியைவிட்டு, இஸ்ரவேல் மக்களல்லாதவர்கள் இருக்கிற பட்டணத்திற்குப் போகக்கூடாது; அதற்கடுத்த கிபியாவரை போவோம் என்று சொல்லி,
And his master answered him, We will not turne into the citie of strangers that are not of the children of Israel, but we will goe forth to Gibeah.
13 ௧௩ தன்னுடைய வேலைக்காரனைப் பார்த்து: நாம் கிபியாவிலாவது ராமாவிலாவது இரவு தங்கும்படி, அவைகளில் ஒரு இடத்திற்குப் போய்ச்சேர நடந்துபோவோம் வா என்றான்.
And he said vnto his seruant, Come, and let vs drawe neere to one of these places, that wee may lodge in Gibeah or in Ramah.
14 ௧௪ அப்படியே அதற்கடுத்து நடந்துபோனார்கள்; பென்யமீன் நாட்டைச் சேர்ந்த கிபியாவின் அருகில் வரும்போது, சூரியன் மறைந்துபோனது.
So they went forward vpon their way, and the sunne went downe vpon them neere to Gibeah, which is in Beniamin.
15 ௧௫ ஆகையால் கிபியாவிலே வந்து இரவு தங்கும்படி, வழியைவிட்டு அந்த இடத்திற்குப் போனார்கள்; அவன் பட்டணத்திற்குள் போனபோது, இரவு தங்குவதற்கு அவர்களை வீட்டிலே சேர்த்துக்கொள்பவர்கள் இல்லாததினால், வீதியில் உட்கார்ந்தான்.
Then they turned thither to goe in and lodge in Gibeah: and when he came, he sate him downe in a streete of the citie: for there was no man that tooke them into his house to lodging.
16 ௧௬ வயலிலே வேலைசெய்து, மாலையிலே திரும்புகிற ஒரு முதியவர் வந்தார்; அந்த மனிதனும் எப்பிராயீம் மலைதேசத்தை சார்ந்தவன், அவன் கிபியாவிலே வாழ வந்தான்; அந்த இடத்தின் மனிதர்களோ பென்யமீனர்கள்.
And beholde, there came an old man from his work out of the field at euen, and the man was of mount Ephraim, but dwelt in Gibeah: and the men of the place were the children of Iemini.
17 ௧௭ அந்த முதியவர் தன்னுடைய கண்களை ஏறெடுத்துப் பட்டணத்து வீதியில் அந்த பயணியைப் பார்த்து: எங்கே போகிறாய், எங்கேயிருந்து வந்தாய் என்று கேட்டான்.
And when he had lift vp his eyes, he sawe a wayfairing man in the streetes of the citie: then this olde man sayde, Whither goest thou, and whence camest thou?
18 ௧௮ அதற்கு அவன்: நாங்கள் யூதாவிலுள்ள ஊராகிய பெத்லெகேமிலிருந்து வந்து, எப்பிராயீம் மலைத்தேசத்தின் மிகவும் தொலை தூரம் வரைப் போகிறோம்; நான் அந்த இடத்தைச் சேர்ந்தவன்; யூதாவிலுள்ள பெத்லெகேம்வரைப் போய்வந்தேன், நான் யெகோவாவுடைய ஆலயத்திற்குப் போகிறேன்; இங்கே என்னை வீட்டிலே ஏற்றுக்கொள்பவர்கள் ஒருவரும் இல்லை.
And hee answered him, Wee came from Beth-lehem Iudah, vnto the side of Mout Ephraim: from thence am I: and I went to Beth-lehem Iudah, and go now to the house of the Lord: and no man receiueth mee to house,
19 ௧௯ எங்கள் கழுதைகளுக்கு வைக்கோலும் தீவனமும் உண்டு; எனக்கும் உமது அடியாளுக்கும் உமது அடியானோடிருக்கிற வேலைக்காரனுக்கும் ரொட்டியும் திராட்சை ரசமும் உண்டு; ஒன்றிலும் குறைவில்லை என்றான்.
Although we haue straw and prouader for our asses, and also bread and wine for me and thine handmayde, and for the boy that is with thy seruant: we lacke nothing.
20 ௨0 அப்பொழுது அந்த முதியவர்: உனக்குச் சமாதானம் உண்டாவதாக; உன் குறைவுகளெல்லாம் என்மேல் இருக்கட்டும்; வீதியிலேமட்டும் இரவு தங்கவேண்டாம் என்று சொல்லி,
And the olde man sayde, Peace bee with thee: as for all that thou lackest, shalt thou finde with me: onely abide not in the streete al night.
21 ௨௧ அவனைத் தன்னுடைய வீட்டிற்குள் அழைத்துக்கொண்டுபோய், கழுதைகளுக்குத் தீவனம் போட்டான்; அவர்கள் தங்கள் கால்களைக் கழுவிக்கொண்டு, சாப்பிட்டுக் குடித்தார்கள்.
So he brought him into his house, and gaue fodder vnto the asses: and they washed their feete, and did eate and drinke.
22 ௨௨ அவர்கள் மனமகிழ்ச்சியாக இருக்கிறபோது, இதோ, அந்த ஊர் துன்மார்க்க மனிதர்களில் சிலர் அந்த வீட்டைச் சூழ்ந்துகொண்டு, கதவைத் தட்டி: உன் வீட்டிலே வந்த அந்த மனிதனை, நாங்கள் அவனோடு உறவுகொள்ளும்படி, வெளியே கொண்டுவா என்று வீட்டுக்காரனாகிய அந்த முதியவரோடு சொன்னார்கள்.
And as they were making their hearts merie, beholde, the men of the citie, wicked men beset the house round about, and smote at the doore, and spake to this olde man the master of the house saying, Bring forth the man that came into thine house that we may knowe him.
23 ௨௩ அப்பொழுது வீட்டுக்காரனான அந்த மனிதன் வெளியே அவர்களிடத்தில் போய்: இப்படிச்செய்யவேண்டாம்; என் சகோதரர்களே, இப்படிப்பட்ட தீமையைச் செய்யவேண்டாம்; அந்த மனிதன் என்னுடைய வீட்டிற்குள் வந்திருக்கும்போது, இப்படிப்பட்ட மதிகேட்டைச் செய்ய வேண்டாம்.
And this man the master of ye house went out vnto the, and said vnto them, Nay my brethre, do not so wickedly, I pray you: seeing that this man is come into mine house, do not this villenie.
24 ௨௪ இதோ, கன்னிப்பெண்ணாகிய என்னுடைய மகளும், அந்த மனிதனுடைய மறுமனையாட்டியும் இருக்கிறார்கள்; அவர்களை உங்களிடத்தில் வெளியே கொண்டுவருகிறேன்; அவர்களை அவமானப்படுத்தி, உங்கள் பார்வைக்குச் சரியானபடி அவர்களுக்குச் செய்யுங்கள்; ஆனாலும் இந்த மனிதனுக்கு அப்படிப்பட்ட மதிகேடான காரியத்தைச் செய்யவேண்டாம் என்றான்.
Behold, here is my daughter, a virgine, and his concubine: them wil I bring out nowe, and humble them, and doe with them what seemeth you good: but to this man doe not this villenie.
25 ௨௫ அந்த மனிதர்கள் அவன் சொல்லைக் கேட்கவில்லை; அப்பொழுது அந்த மனிதன் தன்னுடைய மறுமனையாட்டியைப் பிடித்து, அவர்களிடத்தில் வெளியே கொண்டுவந்து விட்டான்; அவர்கள் அவளை பலாத்காரம் செய்து, இரவு முழுவதும் அவளை மோசமாக நடத்தி, அதிகாலையில் அவளைப் போகவிட்டார்கள்.
But the men woulde not hearken to him: therefore ye man tooke his concubine, and brought her out vnto them: and they knewe her and abused her all the night vnto the morning: and when the day began to spring, they let her goe.
26 ௨௬ விடிவதற்கு முன்னே அந்தப் பெண் வந்து, வெளிச்சமாகும்வரை அங்கே தன்னுடைய எஜமான் இருந்த வீட்டுவாசற்படியிலே விழுந்துகிடந்தாள்.
So the woman came in the dawning of the day, and fell downe at the doore of the mans house where her Lord was, till the light day.
27 ௨௭ அவள் எஜமான் காலையில் எழுந்திருந்து வீட்டின் கதவைத் திறந்து, தன்னுடைய வழியே போகப் புறப்படுகிறபோது, இதோ, அவன் மறுமனையாட்டியாகிய பெண் வீட்டுவாசலுக்கு முன் தன்னுடைய கைகளை வாசற்படியின்மேல் வைத்தவளாகக் கிடந்தாள்.
And her lorde arose in the morning, and opened the doores of the house, and went out to goe his way, and beholde, the woman his concubine was dead at the doore of the house and her handes lay vpon the thresholde.
28 ௨௮ எழுந்திரு போவோம் என்று அவன் அவளோடே சொன்னதற்கு அவள் பதில் சொல்லவில்லை. அப்பொழுது அந்த மனிதன் அவளைக் கழுதையின்மேல் போட்டுக்கொண்டு, பயணப்பட்டு, தன்னுடைய இடத்திற்குப் போனான்.
And hee said vnto her, Vp and let vs goe: but shee answered not. Then he tooke her vp vpon the asse, and the man rose vp, and went vnto his place.
29 ௨௯ அந்த லேவியன் வீட்டிற்கு வந்தபோது, ஒரு கத்தியை எடுத்து, தன்னுடைய மறுமனையாட்டியைப் பிடித்து, அவளை அவளுடைய எலும்புகளோடு பன்னிரண்டு துண்டுகளாக்கி, இஸ்ரவேலின் எல்லைகளுக்கெல்லாம் அனுப்பினான்.
And whe he was come to his house, he took a knife, and laid hand on his concubine, and deuided her in pieces with her bones into twelue parts, and sent her through all quarters of Israel.
30 ௩0 அப்பொழுது அதைப் பார்த்தவர்கள் எல்லோரும், இஸ்ரவேல் மக்கள் எகிப்திலிருந்து புறப்பட்ட நாளிலிருந்து இந்த நாள்வரைக்கும் இதைப்போன்ற காரியம் செய்யப்படவும் இல்லை, காணப்படவும் இல்லை; இந்தக் காரியத்தைப்பற்றி யோசித்து, ஆலோசனை செய்து, செய்யவேண்டியது என்னவென்று சொல்லுங்கள் என்றார்கள்.
And all that saw it, said, There was no such thing done or seene since the time that the children of Israel came vp from the lande of Egypt vnto this day: consider the matter, consult and giue sentence.
