< யோனா 2 >

1 ௧ அந்த மீனின் வயிற்றிலிருந்து, யோனா தன்னுடைய தேவனாகிய யெகோவாவை நோக்கி விண்ணப்பம்செய்து:
Then Jonah prayed to Jehovah his God out of the sea creatures belly.
2 ௨ என் நெருக்கத்தில் நான் யெகோவாவை நோக்கிக் கூப்பிட்டேன்; அவர் எனக்கு பதில் கொடுத்தார்; நான் பாதாளத்தின் வயிற்றிலிருந்து கூக்குரலிட்டேன், நீர் என் சத்தத்தைக் கேட்டீர். (Sheol h7585)
And he said, I called because of my affliction to Jehovah, and he answered me. Out of the belly of Sheol I cried, and thou heard my voice. (Sheol h7585)
3 ௩ கடலின் நடுமையமாகிய ஆழத்திலே நீர் என்னைத் தள்ளிவிட்டீர்; நீரோட்டம் என்னைச் சூழ்ந்துகொண்டது; உம்முடைய வெள்ளங்களும் அலைகளும் எல்லாம் என்மேல் புரண்டது.
For thou cast me into the depth, in the heart of the seas, and the flood was round about me. All thy waves and thy billows passed over me.
4 ௪ நான் உமது கண்களுக்கு எதிரே இல்லாதபடிக்குத் தள்ளப்பட்டேன்; ஆனாலும் இன்னமும் உம்முடைய பரிசுத்த ஆலயத்தை நோக்குவேன் என்றேன்.
And I said, I am cast out from before thine eyes. Yet I will look again toward thy holy temple.
5 ௫ தண்ணீர்கள் என்னுடைய ஜீவனை எடுக்க என்னை நெருக்கினது; ஆழங்கள் என்னைச் சூழ்ந்தது; கடற்பாசி என் தலையைச் சுற்றிக்கொண்டது.
The waters encompassed me around, even to the soul. The deep was round about me. The weeds were wrapped around my head.
6 ௬ மலைகளின் அடிவாரங்கள்வரைக்கும் இறங்கினேன்; பூமியின் தாழ்ப்பாள்கள் என்றென்றைக்கும் என்னை அடைக்கிறதாக இருந்தது; ஆனாலும் என் தேவனாகிய யெகோவாவே, நீர் என் உயிரை அழிவிலிருந்து காப்பாற்றினீர்.
I went down to the bottoms of the mountains. The earth with its bars closed upon me forever. Yet thou have brought up my life from the pit, O Jehovah my God.
7 ௭ என்னுடைய ஆத்துமா எனக்குள் சோர்ந்துபோகும்போது யெகோவாவை நினைத்தேன்; அப்பொழுது என் விண்ணப்பம் உமது பரிசுத்த ஆலயத்திலே உம்மிடத்தில் வந்து சேர்ந்தது.
When my soul fainted within me, I remembered Jehovah. And my prayer came in to thee, into thy holy temple.
8 ௮ பொய்யான விக்கிரக தெய்வங்களைப் பற்றிக்கொள்ளுகிறவர்கள் தங்களுக்கு வரும் கிருபையைப் புறக்கணிக்கிறார்கள்.
Those who regard lying vanities forsake their own mercy.
9 ௯ நானோ, துதியின் சத்தத்தோடு உமக்குப் பலியிடுவேன்; நான் செய்த பொருத்தனையைச் செலுத்துவேன்; இரட்சிப்பு யெகோவாவுடையது என்றான்.
But I will sacrifice to thee with the voice of thanksgiving. I will pay that which I have vowed. Salvation is of Jehovah.
10 ௧0 யெகோவா மீனுக்குக் கட்டளையிட்டார், அது யோனாவைக் கரையிலே கக்கிப்போட்டது.
And Jehovah spoke to the sea creature, and it vomited Jonah out upon the dry land.
