After these things, Jesus went to the other side of the sea of Galilee or of Tiberias.
2 ௨ அவர் வியாதியாக இருந்தவர்களுக்கு செய்த அற்புதங்களைத் திரளான மக்கள் பார்த்தபடியால் அவருக்குப் பின் சென்றார்கள்.
And great multitudes went after him; because they had seen the signs which he wrought upon the sick.
And Jesus ascended a mountain, and there he seated himself with his disciples.
And the feast of the Jewish passover was near.
5 ௫ இயேசு தம்முடைய கண்களை ஏறெடுத்து, அநேக மக்கள் தம்மிடத்தில் வருகிறதைப் பார்த்து, பிலிப்புவினிடம்: இவர்கள் சாப்பிடத்தக்கதாக அப்பங்களை எங்கே வாங்கலாம் என்று கேட்டார்.
And Jesus raised his eyes, and saw a great multitude coming towards him; and he said to Philip: Whence shall we buy bread, that these may eat?
And this he said, to try him; for he knew what he was about to do.
7 ௭ பிலிப்பு அவருக்கு மறுமொழியாக: இவர்களில் ஒவ்வொருவரும் கொஞ்சம், எடுத்துக்கொண்டாலும், இருநூறு பணத்திற்கு வாங்கும் அப்பங்களும் இவர்களுக்குப் போதுமானதாக இருக்காதே என்றான்.
Philip said to him: Two hundred denarii in bread would not suffice them, that each might take but a little.
8 ௮ அப்பொழுது அவருடைய சீடர்களில் ஒருவனும், சீமோன் பேதுருவின் சகோதரனுமாகிய அந்திரேயா அவரைப் பார்த்து:
One of his disciples, Andrew, the brother of Simon Cephas, said to him:
9 ௯ இங்கே ஒரு சிறுவன் இருக்கிறான், அவனுடைய கையில் ஐந்து வாற்கோதுமை அப்பங்களும் இரண்டு மீன்களும் இருக்கின்றது, ஆனாலும் அவைகள் இவ்வளவு மக்களுக்கு எப்படிப் போதும் என்றான்.
There is a lad here, who hath with him five cakes of barley, and two fishes; but what are these for all those people?
10 ௧0 இயேசு: மக்களை உட்காரவையுங்கள் என்றார். அந்த இடம் மிகுந்த புல்லுள்ளதாக இருந்தது. பந்தியிருந்த ஆண்கள் ஏறக்குறைய ஐந்தாயிரம் பேர் இருந்தார்கள்.
Jesus said to them: Make all the people recline. Now there was much grass in that place: and the people reclined, in number five thousand.
11 ௧௧ இயேசு அந்த அப்பங்களை எடுத்து, நன்றிசெலுத்தி, சீடர்களிடத்தில் கொடுத்தார்; சீடர்கள் பந்தி இருந்தவர்களுக்குக் கொடுத்தார்கள்; அப்படியே மீன்களையும் அவர் எடுத்து அவர்களுக்குத் தேவையானஅளவு கொடுத்தார்.
And Jesus took the bread, and blessed, and distributed to them that reclined. And so also, with the fish; as much as they desired.
12 ௧௨ அவர்கள் திருப்தியடைந்தப்பின்பு, அவர் தம்முடைய சீடர்களைப் பார்த்து: ஒன்றும் வீணாகப் போகாதபடிக்கு மீதியான துண்டுகளைச் சேர்த்துவையுங்கள் என்றார்.
And when they were satisfied, he said to his disciples: Gather up the fragments which remain, that nothing be lost.
13 ௧௩ அந்தப்படியே அவர்கள் சேர்த்து, வாற்கோதுமை அப்பங்கள் ஐந்தில் அவர்கள் சாப்பிட்டு மீதியான துண்டுகளினாலே பன்னிரண்டு கூடைகளை நிரப்பினார்கள்.
And they collected and filled twelve baskets, with fragments of what remained to them that had eaten of the five barley cakes.
14 ௧௪ இயேசு செய்த அற்புதத்தை அந்த மனிதர்கள் பார்த்து: உண்மையாகவே இவர் உலகத்தில் வருகிறவரான தீர்க்கதரிசி என்றார்கள்.
And those people, when they saw the sign which Jesus had wrought, said: Certainly, this is that prophet who was to come into the world.
15 ௧௫ ஆதலால் அவர்கள் வந்து, தம்மை ராஜாவாக்கும்படிப் பிடித்துக்கொண்டுபோக மனதாக இருக்கிறார்கள் என்று இயேசு அறிந்து, மறுபடியும் விலகி, தனியே மலையின்மேல் ஏறினார்.
And Jesus knew, that they were about to come and take him by force, and make him king: and he retired into a mountain alone.
And when it was evening, his disciples went down to the sea,
17 ௧௭ படகில் ஏறி, கடலின் அக்கரையிலுள்ள கப்பர்நகூமுக்கு நேராக போனார்கள்; அப்பொழுது இருட்டாக இருந்தது, இயேசுவும் அவர்களிடத்தில் வராதிருந்தார்.
and sat in a ship, and were going over to Capernaum. And darkness came on, and Jesus had not come to them.
And the sea was boisterous against them, for a violent wind was blowing.
19 ௧௯ அவர்கள் ஏறக்குறைய மூன்று நாலு மைல்தூரம் படகில் போனபொழுது, இயேசு கடலின்மேல் நடந்து, படகின் அருகில் வருகிறதைப் பார்த்து பயந்தார்கள்.
And they had gone about five and twenty or thirty furlongs, when they saw Jesus walking upon the sea: and as he drew near to the ship, they were afraid.
But Jesus said to them: It is I; be not afraid.
21 ௨௧ அப்பொழுது அவரைப் படகில் ஏற்றிக்கொள்ள விருப்பமானார்கள்; உடனே படகு அவர்கள் போகிற கரையைப் பிடித்தது.
And they were glad to receive him into the ship. And, directly, the ship was at the land to which they were going.
22 ௨௨ மறுநாளில் கடலின் அக்கரையிலே நின்ற மக்கள் அவருடைய சீடர்கள் ஏறின அந்த ஒரே படகைத்தவிர அங்கே வேறொரு படகும் இருந்ததில்லை என்றும், இயேசு தம்முடைய சீடர்களோடுகூடப் படகில் ஏறாமல் அவருடைய சீடர்கள்மட்டும் போனார்கள் என்றும் அறிந்தார்கள்.
And the next day, the multitude, who had remained on the other side of the sea, saw that there was no other ship there, except that in which the disciples embarked, and that Jesus did not embark in that ship with his disciples;
23 ௨௩ கர்த்தர், நன்றி செலுத்தினபின்பு அவர்கள் அப்பம் சாப்பிட்ட இடத்திற்கு அருகில் திபேரியாவிலிருந்து வேறு படகுகள் வந்தது.
yet that other ships had come from Tiberias, near to the place where they ate the bread when Jesus blessed it.
24 ௨௪ அப்பொழுது இயேசுவும் அவருடைய சீடர்களும் அங்கே இல்லாததை மக்கள் பார்த்து, உடனே அந்தப் படகுகளில் ஏறி, இயேசுவைத் தேடிக்கொண்டு, கப்பர்நகூமுக்கு வந்தார்கள்.
And when the multitude saw, that Jesus was not there, nor his disciples; they embarked in ships, and came to Capernaum, and sought for Jesus.
25 ௨௫ கடலின் அக்கரையிலே அவர்கள் அவரைப் பார்த்தபோது: ரபீ, நீர் எப்பொழுது இந்த இடத்திற்கு வந்தீர் என்று கேட்டார்கள்.
And when they found him on the other side of the sea, they said to him: Our Rabbi, when camest thou hither?
26 ௨௬ இயேசு அவர்களுக்கு மறுமொழியாக: நீங்கள் அற்புதங்களைப் பார்த்ததினால் அல்ல, நீங்கள் அப்பங்கள் புசித்துத் திருப்தியானதினால் தான் என்னைத் தேடுகிறீர்கள் என்று உண்மையாகவே உண்மையாகவே உங்களுக்குச் சொல்லுகிறேன்.
Jesus replied and said to them: Verily, verily, I say to you, Ye seek me, not because ye saw the signs, but because ye ate the bread and were satisfied.
27 ௨௭ அழிந்துபோகிற உணவிற்காக இல்லை, நித்தியஜீவன் வரைக்கும் நிலைநிற்கிற உணவிற்காகவே செயல்களை நடப்பியுங்கள்; அதை மனிதகுமாரன் உங்களுக்குக் கொடுப்பார்; அவரைப் பிதாவாகிய தேவன் நிச்சயத்திருக்கிறார் என்றார். (aiōnios g166)
Labor not for the food that perisheth, but for the food that abideth unto life eternal, which the Son of man will give to you; for him hath God the Father sealed. (aiōnios g166)
28 ௨௮ அப்பொழுது அவர்கள் அவரைப் பார்த்து: தேவனுக்குரிய செயல்களை நடப்பிக்கும்படி நாங்கள் என்னசெய்யவேண்டும் என்றார்கள்.
They said to him: What shall we do, in order to work the works of God?
29 ௨௯ இயேசு அவர்களுக்கு மறுமொழியாக: அவர் அனுப்பினவரை நீங்கள் விசுவாசிப்பதே தேவனுக்குரிய செயல்களாக இருக்கிறது என்றார்.
Jesus replied and said to them: This is the work of God, that ye believe on him whom he hath sent.
30 ௩0 அதற்கு அவர்கள்: அப்படியானால் உம்மை விசுவாசிக்கும்படி நாங்கள் பார்க்கதக்கதாக நீர் என்ன அடையாளத்தைக் காண்பிக்கிறீர்? என்ன காரியத்தை நடப்பிக்கிறீர்?
They say to him: What sign doest thou, that we may see and believe in thee? What workest thou?
31 ௩௧ வானத்திலிருந்து அவர்களுக்கு அப்பத்தை சாப்பிடக் கொடுத்தார் என்று எழுதியிருக்கிறபடி, நம்முடைய முற்பிதாக்கள் வனாந்திரத்தில் மன்னாவைச் சாப்பிட்டார்களே என்றார்கள்.
Our fathers ate the manna, in the wilderness; as it is written, He gave them bread from heaven to eat.
32 ௩௨ இயேசு அவர்களைப் பார்த்து: வானத்திலிருந்து வந்த அப்பத்தை மோசே உங்களுக்குக் கொடுக்கவில்லை; என் பிதாவோ வானத்திலிருந்து வந்த மெய்யான அப்பத்தை உங்களுக்குக் கொடுக்கிறார் என்று, உண்மையாகவே உண்மையாகவே உங்களுக்குச் சொல்லுகிறேன்.
Jesus said to them: Verily, verily, I say to you, Moses gave you not the bread from heaven; but my Father giveth you the real bread from heaven.
For the bread of God is, he that came down from heaven, and giveth life to the world.
34 ௩௪ அப்பொழுது அவர்கள் அவரைப் பார்த்து: ஆண்டவரே, இந்த அப்பத்தை எப்பொழுதும் எங்களுக்கு கொடுக்கவேண்டும் என்றார்கள்.
They say to him: Our Lord, give us at all times this bread.
35 ௩௫ இயேசு அவர்களைப் பார்த்து: ஜீவ அப்பம் நானே, என்னிடத்தில் வருகிறவன் ஒருபோதும் பசியடையான், என்னிடத்தில் விசுவாசமாக இருக்கிறவன் ஒருபோதும், தாகமடையான்.
Jesus said to them: I am the bread of life: he that cometh to me, shall not hunger; and he that believeth on me, shall not thirst, for ever.
But I said to you, That ye have seen me, and do not believe.
37 ௩௭ பிதாவானவர் எனக்குக் கொடுக்கிறதெல்லாம் என்னிடத்தில் வரும்; என்னிடத்தில் வருகிறவனை நான் வெளியே தள்ளுவதில்லை.
All that my Father gave me, will come to me: and him, that cometh to me, I will not cast out.
38 ௩௮ என் விருப்பத்தின்படியல்ல, என்னை அனுப்பினவருடைய விருப்பத்தின்படி செய்யவே, நான் வானத்திலிருந்து இறங்கி வந்தேன்.
For I came down from heaven, not to do my own pleasure, but the pleasure of him that sent me.
39 ௩௯ அவர் எனக்குக் கொடுத்ததில் ஒன்றையும் நான் இழந்துபோகாமல், கடைசிநாளில் அவைகளை எழுப்புவதே என்னை அனுப்பின பிதாவின் விருப்பமாக இருக்கிறது.
And this is the pleasure of him that sent me, that whatever he hath given me, I should lose nothing of it, but should raise it up at the last day.
40 ௪0 குமாரனைப் பார்த்து, அவரிடத்தில் விசுவாசமாக இருக்கிறவன் எவனோ, அவன் நித்தியஜீவனை அடைவதும், நான் அவனைக் கடைசிநாளில் எழுப்புவதும், என்னை அனுப்பினவருடைய விருப்பமாக இருக்கிறது என்றார். (aiōnios g166)
For this is the pleasure of my Father, that every one who seeth the Son, and believeth on him, should have life eternal; and I will raise him up at the last day. (aiōnios g166)
41 ௪௧ நான் வானத்திலிருந்து வந்த அப்பம் என்று அவர் சொன்னதினிமித்தம் யூதர்கள் அவரைக்குறித்து முறுமுறுத்து:
Then the Jews murmured at him, because he said: I am the bread, who have descended from heaven.
42 ௪௨ இவன் யோசேப்பின் குமாரனாகிய இயேசு அல்லவா, இவனுடைய தகப்பனையும், தாயையும் அறிந்திருக்கிறோமே; அப்படி இருக்க, நான் வானத்திலிருந்து இறங்கி வந்தேன் என்று இவன் எப்படிச் சொல்லுகிறான் என்றார்கள்.
And they said: Is not this Jesus the son of Joseph, whose father and mother we know? And how doth he say: I came down from heaven?
Jesus replied and said to them: Murmur not, one with another.
44 ௪௪ என்னை அனுப்பின பிதா, ஒருவனை இழுத்துக்கொள்ளாவிட்டால் அவன் என்னிடத்தில் வரமாட்டான்; கடைசிநாளில் நான் அவனை எழுப்புவேன்.
No man can come to me, unless the Father who sent me, shall draw him; and I will raise him up at the last day.
45 ௪௫ எல்லோரும் தேவனாலே போதிக்கப்பட்டிருப்பார்கள் என்று தீர்க்கதரிசிகளின் புத்தகத்தில் எழுதியிருக்கிறதே; ஆகவே, பிதாவினிடத்தில் கேட்டுக் கற்றுக்கொள்ளுகிறவன் எவனும் என்னிடத்தில் வருகிறான்.
For it is written, in the prophet: And they shall all be taught of God. Whoever, therefore, heareth from the Father, and learneth from him, cometh to me.
46 ௪௬ தேவனிடத்தில் இருந்து வந்தவரேதவிர வேறு ஒருவரும் பிதாவைப் பார்த்ததில்லை, இவரே பிதாவைப் பார்த்தவர்.
Not that any one hath seen the Father, except him who hath come from God; he it is, hath seen the Father.
47 ௪௭ என்னிடத்தில் விசுவாசமாக இருக்கிறவனுக்கு நித்தியஜீவன் உண்டு என்று உண்மையாகவே உண்மையாகவே உங்களுக்குச் சொல்லுகிறேன். (aiōnios g166)
Verily, verily, I say to you: That, to him who believeth in me, there is life eternal. (aiōnios g166)
I am the bread of life.
Your fathers ate the manna, in the wilderness, and they died.
But this is the bread which cometh from heaven, that a man may eat of it, and not die.
51 ௫௧ நானே வானத்திலிருந்து இறங்கின ஜீவ அப்பம்; இந்த அப்பத்தை சாப்பிடுகிறவன் என்றென்றைக்கும் பிழைப்பான்; நான் கொடுக்கும் அப்பம், உலக மக்களின் ஜீவனுக்காக நான் கொடுக்கும் என்னுடைய சரீரமே என்றார். (aiōn g165)
I am the bread of life, who have come down from heaven: and if a man shall eat of this bread, he will live for ever. And the bread which I shall give, is my body, which I give for the life of the world. (aiōn g165)
52 ௫௨ அப்பொழுது யூதர்கள்: இவன் தன்னுடைய சரீரத்தை எப்படி நமக்கு சாப்பிடக் கொடுப்பான் என்று தங்களுக்குள்ளே வாக்குவாதம் செய்தார்கள்.
Then the Jews contended one with another, and said: How can he give us his body to eat?
53 ௫௩ அதற்கு இயேசு அவர்களைப் பார்த்து: நீங்கள் மனிதகுமாரனுடைய சரீரத்தைச் சாப்பிடாமலும், அவருடைய இரத்தத்தைக் குடிக்காமலும் இருந்தால் உங்களுக்குள்ளே ஜீவன் இல்லை என்று உண்மையாகவே உண்மையாகவே உங்களுக்குச் சொல்லுகிறேன்.
And Jesus said to them: Verily, verily, I say to you, That, unless ye eat the body of the Son of man, and drink his blood, ye have no life within you.
54 ௫௪ என் சரீரத்தைப் புசித்து, என் இரத்தத்தைக் குடிக்கிறவனுக்கு நித்தியஜீவன் உண்டு; நான் அவனைக் கடைசிநாளில் எழுப்புவேன். (aiōnios g166)
But he that eateth of my body, and drinketh of my blood, to him is life eternal; and I will raise him up at the last day (aiōnios g166)
For my body truly is food, and my blood truly is drink.
56 ௫௬ என் சரீரத்தைப் புசித்து, என் இரத்தத்தைக் குடிக்கிறவன் என்னிலே நிலைத்திருக்கிறான், நானும் அவனிலே நிலைத்திருக்கிறேன்.
He that eateth my body, and drinketh my blood, abideth in me, and I in him
57 ௫௭ ஜீவனுள்ள பிதா என்னை அனுப்பினதுபோலவும், நான் பிதாவினால் பிழைத்திருக்கிறதுபோலவும், என்னைப் புசிக்கிறவனும் என்னாலே பிழைப்பான்.
As the living Father hath sent me, and I live because of the Father; so he that shall eat me, he also will live because of me.
58 ௫௮ வானத்திலிருந்து இறங்கின அப்பம் இதுவே; இது உங்களுடைய தகப்பன்மார்கள் புசித்த மன்னாவைப்போல அல்ல, அவர்கள் மரித்தார்களே; இந்த அப்பத்தைப் புசிக்கிறவனோ என்றென்றைக்கும் பிழைப்பான் என்றார். (aiōn g165)
This is the bread that came down from heaven: not as your fathers ate the manna, and died; whoever shall eat of this bead, will live for ever. (aiōn g165)
These things he uttered in the synagogue, while teaching at Capernaum.
60 ௬0 அவருடைய சீடர்களில் அநேகர் இவைகளைக் கேட்டபொழுது, இது கடினமான உபதேசம், யார் இதை ஏற்றுக்கொள்வார்கள் என்றார்கள்.
And many of his disciples who heard him, said: This is a hard speech, who can hear it.
61 ௬௧ சீடர்கள் அதைக்குறித்து முறுமுறுக்கிறார்கள் என்று இயேசு தமக்குள்ளே அறிந்து, அவர்களைப் பார்த்து: இது உங்களுக்கு இடறலாக இருக்கிறதோ?
And Jesus knew in himself, that his disciples murmured at this; and he said to them, Doth this stumble you?
62 ௬௨ மனிதகுமாரன் தாம் முன்னிருந்த இடத்திற்கு ஏறிப்போகிறதை நீங்கள் பார்ப்பீர்களானால் எப்படி இருக்கும்?
If then, ye were to see the Son of man ascend, to where he was from the beginning!
63 ௬௩ ஆவியே உயிர்ப்பிக்கிறது, சரீரமானது ஒன்றுக்கும் உதவாது; நான் உங்களுக்குச் சொல்லுகிற வசனங்கள் ஆவியாகவும், ஜீவனாகவும் இருக்கிறது.
It is the Spirit that vivifieth; the body profiteth nothing. The words which I have used with you, they are spirit, and they are life.
64 ௬௪ ஆனாலும் உங்களில் விசுவாசிக்காதவர்கள் சிலர் இருக்கிறார்கள் என்றார்; விசுவாசிக்காதவர்கள் இவர்கள் என்றும், தம்மைக் காட்டிக்கொடுப்பவன் இவன்தான் என்றும் ஆரம்பமுதல் இயேசு அறிந்திருந்தபடியால், அவர் பின்னும்:
But there are some of you, that believe not. For Jesus knew, from the beginning, who they were that believed not, and who it was that would betray him.
65 ௬௫ ஒருவன் என் பிதாவின் அனுமதி பெறாவிட்டால் என்னிடத்திற்கு வரமாட்டான் என்று இதற்காகவே உங்களுக்குச் சொன்னேன் என்றார்.
And he said to them: For this reason, I said to you, That no one can come to me, unless it be given to him by my Father.
On account of this speech, many of his disciples turned back, and walked not with him.
67 ௬௭ அப்பொழுது இயேசு பன்னிரண்டுபேரையும் பார்த்து: நீங்களும் போய்விட விருப்பமாக இருக்கிறீர்களோ என்றார்.
And Jesus said to the twelve: Are ye also disposed to go away?
68 ௬௮ சீமோன்பேதுரு அவருக்கு மறுமொழியாக: ஆண்டவரே, யாரிடத்தில் போவோம், நித்தியஜீவ வார்த்தைகள் உம்மிடத்தில் இருக்கிறது. (aiōnios g166)
Simon Cephas replied, and said: My Lord, to whom shall we go? The words of life eternal are with thee. (aiōnios g166)
69 ௬௯ நீர் ஜீவனுள்ள தேவனுடைய குமாரனாகிய கிறிஸ்து என்று நாங்கள் விசுவாசித்தும் அறிந்தும் இருக்கிறோம் என்றான்.
And we believe, and know, that thou art the Messiah, the Son of the living God.
70 ௭0 இயேசு அவர்களைப் பார்த்து: பன்னிருவராகிய உங்களை நான் தெரிந்துகொள்ளவில்லையா உங்களுக்குள்ளும் ஒருவன் பிசாசாக இருக்கிறான் என்றார்.
Jesus said to them: Have not I chosen you twelve? Yet one of you is a devil.
71 ௭௧ சீமோனின் மகனாகிய யூதாஸ்காரியோத்து பன்னிருவரில் ஒருவனாக இருந்தும், தம்மைக் காட்டிக்கொடுக்கப்போகிறவனாக இருந்தபடியினால் அவனைக்குறித்து இப்படிச் சொன்னார்.
This he spoke of Judas Iscariot, the son of Simon; for he was afterwards to betray him, being one of the twelve.
