யோபு 28

1 ௧ வெள்ளிக்கு விளையும் இடம் உண்டு, பொன்னுக்குப் புடமிடும் இடமுமுண்டு.

Surely there is a mine for silver, and a place for gold which they refine.

2 ௨ இரும்பு மண்ணிலிருந்து எடுக்கப்படும்; செம்பு கற்களில் உருக்கி எடுக்கப்படும்.

Iron is taken out of the earth, and brass is molten out of the stone.

3 ௩ மனிதன் அந்தகாரத்திலும் மரண இருளிலும் இருக்கிற கற்களைக் கடைசிவரை ஆராய்ந்து தேடி, இருளுக்கும் அங்கே முடிவுண்டாக்குகிறான்.

[Man] setteth an end to darkness, and searcheth out to the furthest bound the stones of thick darkness and of the shadow of death.

4 ௪ கடக்கமுடியாததும் நிலையாததுமான ஆறு எழும்பினாலும், உழைப்பாளியானவன் அதை மனிதரால் வற்றிப்போகவைத்துச் செல்லுகிறான்.

He breaketh open a shaft away from where men sojourn; they are forgotten of the foot [that passeth by]; they hang afar from men, they swing to and fro.

5 ௫ பூமியின்மேல் ஆகாரம் விளையும்; அதின் கீழிடங்களிலிருக்கிறவைகளோ, நெருப்பால் மாறினது போலிருக்கும்.

As for the earth, out of it cometh bread: and underneath it is turned up as it were by fire.

6 ௬ அதின் கற்களில் இந்திரநீலம் விளையும்; அதின் பொடியில் பொன்பொடிகளும் உண்டாயிருக்கும்.

The stones thereof are the place of sapphires, and it hath dust of gold.

7 ௭ ஒரு வழியுண்டு, அது ஒரு பறவைக்கும் தெரியாது; கழுகின் கண்ணும் அதைக் கண்டதில்லை;

That path no bird of prey knoweth, neither hath the falcon’s eye seen it:

8 ௮ கொடிய மிருகங்களின் கால்கள் அதில் படவில்லை; சிங்கம் அதைக் கடந்ததில்லை.

The proud beasts have not trodden it, nor hath the fierce lion passed thereby.

9 ௯ அவன் தன் கைகளைக் கற்பாறையின்மேல் நீட்டி, மலைகளை வேருடன் புரட்டுகிறான்.

He putteth forth his hand upon the flinty rock; he overturneth the mountains by the roots.

10 ௧0 கன்மலைகளுக்குள்ளும் நீர்க்கால்களை வெட்டுகிறான்; அவனுடைய கண் விலையுயர்ந்த எல்லாவற்றையும் காணும்.

He cutteth out channels among the rocks; and his eye seeth every precious thing.

11 ௧௧ ஒரு துளியும் கசியாதபடி ஆறுகளை அடைக்கிறான்; மறைவிடத்திலிருக்கிறதை வெளிச்சத்திலே கொண்டுவருகிறான்.

He bindeth the streams that they trickle not; and the thing that is hid bringeth he forth to light.

12 ௧௨ ஆனாலும் ஞானம் கண்டெடுக்கப்படுவது எங்கே? புத்தி விளைகிற இடம் எது?

But where shall wisdom be found? and where is the place of understanding?

13 ௧௩ அதின் விலை மனிதனுக்குத் தெரியாது; அது மக்கள் வாழ்கிற தேசத்திலே கிடைக்கிறதில்லை.

Man knoweth not the price thereof; neither is it found in the land of the living.

14 ௧௪ ஆழமானது: அது என்னிடத்தில் இல்லையென்கிறது; சமுத்திரமானதும், அது என்னிடத்தில் இல்லையென்கிறது.

The deep saith, It is not in me: and the sea saith, It is not with me.

15 ௧௫ அதற்கு ஈடாகத் தங்கத்தைக் கொடுக்கவும், அதற்குக் கிரயமாக வெள்ளியை நிறுக்கவும் முடியாது.

It cannot be gotten for gold, neither shall silver be weighed for the price thereof.

16 ௧௬ ஓப்பீரின் தங்கமும், விலையேறப்பெற்ற கோமேதகமும், இந்திரநீலக்கல்லும் அதற்கு ஈடல்ல.

It cannot be valued with the gold of Ophir, with the precious onyx, or the sapphire.

17 ௧௭ பொன்னும் பளிங்கும் அதற்கு ஒப்பல்ல; பசும்பொன் ஆபரணங்களுக்கு அதை மாற்றமுடியாது.

Gold and glass cannot equal it: neither shall the exchange thereof be jewels of fine gold.

18 ௧௮ பவளத்தையும் ஸ்படிகத்தையும் அத்துடன் ஒப்பிட்டுப் பேசக்கூடாது; முத்துகளைவிட ஞானத்தின் விலை உயர்ந்தது.

No mention shall be made of coral or of crystal: yea, the price of wisdom is above rubies.

19 ௧௯ எத்தியோப்பியாவின் புஷ்பராகம் அதற்கு நிகரல்ல; பசும்பொன்னும் அதற்குச் சரியல்ல.

The topaz of Ethiopia shall not equal it, neither shall it be valued with pure gold.

20 ௨0 இப்படியிருக்க, ஞானம் எங்கேயிருந்து வரும்; புத்தி தங்கும் இடம் எங்கே?

Whence then cometh wisdom? and where is the place of understanding?

21 ௨௧ அது உயிருள்ள அனைவருடைய கண்களுக்கும் ஒளித்தும், ஆகாயத்துப் பறவைகளுக்கு மறைந்தும் இருக்கிறது.

Seeing it is hid from the eyes of all living, and kept close from the fowls of the air.

22 ௨௨ நாசமும், மரணமும், நாங்கள் எங்கள் காதுகளினாலேமாத்திரம் அதின் கீர்த்தியைக் கேட்டோம் என்கிறது.

Destruction and Death say, We have heard a rumour thereof with our ears.

23 ௨௩ தேவனோ அதின் வழியை அறிவார், அது இருக்கும் இடம் அவருக்கே தெரியும்.

God understandeth the way thereof, and he knoweth the place thereof.

24 ௨௪ அவர் பூமியின் கடைசிமுனைகளைப் பார்த்து, வானங்களின்கீழ் இருக்கிறதையெல்லாம் காண்கிறார்.

For he looketh to the ends of the earth, and seeth under the whole heaven;

25 ௨௫ அவர் காற்றுக்கு அதின் எடையை நியமித்து, தண்ணீருக்கு அதின் அளவைக் கணக்கிட்டு,

To make a weight for the wind; yea, he meteth out the waters by measure.

26 ௨௬ மழைக்குத் திட்டத்தையும், இடிமுழக்கத்துடன் கூடிய மின்னலுக்கு வழியையும் ஏற்படுத்துகிறார்.

When he made a decree for the rain, and a way for the lightning of the thunder:

27 ௨௭ அவர் அதைப் பார்த்துக் கணக்கிட்டார்; அதை ஆராய்ந்து ஆயத்தப்படுத்தி,

Then did he see it, and declare it; he established it, yea, and searched it out.

28 ௨௮ மனிதனை நோக்கி: இதோ, ஆண்டவருக்குப் பயப்படுவதே ஞானம்; பொல்லாப்பை விட்டு விலகுவதே புத்தி என்றார்” என்று சொன்னான்.

And unto man he said, Behold, the fear of the Lord, that is wisdom; and to depart from evil is understanding.
