எபிரேயர் 8
1 ௧ மேலே சொல்லியவைகளின் முக்கியமான பொருள் என்னவென்றால்; பரலோகத்தில் உள்ள மகத்துவமான சிங்காசனத்தின் வலதுபக்கத்திலே உட்கார்ந்திருக்கிறவருமாக,
To sum up what I have been saying: Such is the high priest that we have, one who has taken his seat at the right hand of the throne of God’s Majesty in heaven,
2 ௨ பரிசுத்த இடத்திலும், மனிதர்களால் அல்ல, கர்த்தரால் நிறுவப்பட்ட உண்மையான கூடாரத்திலும் ஆசாரிய ஊழியம் செய்கிறவருமாக இருக்கிற பிரதான ஆசாரியர் நமக்கு உண்டு.
where he serves in the sanctuary, in that true tent set up by the Lord and not by man.
3 ௩ ஒவ்வொரு பிரதான ஆசாரியனும் காணிக்கைகளையும் பலிகளையும் செலுத்துவதற்காக நியமிக்கப்படுகிறான்; ஆகவே, செலுத்துவதற்கு எதாவது ஒன்று இவருக்கும் அவசியமாக இருக்கிறது.
Every high priest is appointed for the purpose of offering gifts and sacrifices to God; it follows, therefore, that this high priest must have some offering to make.
4 ௪ பூமியிலே கிறிஸ்து இருப்பாரானால் ஆசாரியராக இருக்கமாட்டார்; ஏனென்றால், நியாயப்பிரமாணத்தின்படி காணிக்கைகளைச் செலுத்துகிற ஆசாரியர்கள் இருக்கிறார்களே;
If he were, however, still on earth, he would not even be a priest, since there are already priests who offer the gifts as the Law directs.
5 ௫ இவர்கள் செய்யும் ஆராதனை பரலோகத்தில் இருப்பவைகளின் சாயலுக்கும் நிழலுக்கும் ஒத்திருக்கிறது; அப்படியே, மோசே கூடாரத்தைக் கட்டப் போகும்போது: மலையிலே உனக்குக் காண்பிக்கப்பட்ட மாதிரியின்படியே நீ எல்லாவற்றையும் செய்ய எச்சரிக்கையாக இரு என்று தேவன் அவனுக்குக் கட்டளையிட்டார்.
(These priests, it is true, are engaged in a service which is only a copy and shadow of the heavenly realities, as is shown by the directions given to Moses when he was about to construct the tent. ‘Look to it,’ are the words, ‘that you make every part in accordance with the pattern shown you on the mountain.’)
6 ௬ கிறிஸ்துவானவர் விசேஷித்த வாக்குத்தத்தங்களினால் நிறுவிக்கப்பட்ட விசேஷித்த உடன்படிக்கைக்கு எப்படி மத்தியஸ்தராக இருக்கிறாரோ, அப்படியே முக்கியமான ஆசாரிய ஊழியத்தையும் பெற்றிருக்கிறார்.
But Jesus, as we see, has obtained a ministry as far excelling theirs, as the covenant of which he is the intermediary, based, as it is, on better promises, excels the former covenant.
If that first covenant had been faultless, there would have been no occasion for a second.
8 ௮ அவர்களைக் குற்றப்படுத்தி, அவர்களைப் பார்த்து: இதோ, கர்த்தர் சொல்லுகிறது என்னவென்றால்: இஸ்ரவேல் குடும்பத்தோடும் யூதா குடும்பத்தோடும் நான் புதிய உடன்படிக்கையை ஏற்படுத்தும் காலம் வருகிறது.
But, finding fault with the people, God says – ‘“A time is coming,” says the Lord, “When I will ratify a new covenant with the people of Israel and with the people of Judah –
9 ௯ அவர்களுடைய முற்பிதாக்களை எகிப்துதேசத்திலிருந்து கொண்டுவர நான் அவர்களுடைய கையைப் பிடித்த நாளிலே அவர்களோடு செய்த உடன்படிக்கையைப்போல இது இருப்பதில்லை; அந்த உடன்படிக்கையிலே அவர்கள் நிலைத்து நிற்கவில்லையே, நானும் அவர்களைப் புறக்கணித்தேன் என்று கர்த்தர் சொல்லுகிறார்.
Not such a covenant as I made with their ancestors on the day when I took them by the hand to lead them out of the land of Egypt. For they did not abide by their covenant with me, and therefore I disregarded them,” says the Lord.
10 ௧0 அந்த நாட்களுக்குப்பின்பு நான் இஸ்ரவேல் குடும்பத்தாரோடு செய்யும் உடன்படிக்கையாவது: என்னுடைய பிரமாணங்களை அவர்களுடைய மனதிலே வைத்து, அவர்களுடைய இருதயங்களில் அவைகளை எழுதுவேன்; நான் அவர்கள் தேவனாக இருப்பேன், அவர்கள் என் மக்களாக இருப்பார்கள்.
“This is the covenant that I will make with the people of Israel after those days,” says the Lord. “I will impress my laws on their minds, and will inscribe them on their hearts; and I will be their God, and they will be my people.
11 ௧௧ அப்பொழுது சிறியவன்முதல் பெரியவன்வரைக்கும் எல்லோரும் என்னை அறிவார்கள்; ஆகவே, கர்த்த்தரை அறிந்துகொள் என்று ஒருவன் தன் அயலானுக்கும், ஒருவன் தன் சகோதரனுக்கும் போதிக்கவேண்டியது இல்லை.
There will be no need for anyone to instruct their fellow citizen, or for a person to say to their relatives ‘Learn to know the Lord’; for everyone will know me, from the lowest to the highest.
12 ௧௨ ஏனென்றால், நான் அவர்கள் அநியாயங்களைக் கிருபையாக மன்னித்து, அவர்கள் பாவங்களையும், அக்கிரமங்களையும் இனி நினைக்கமாட்டேன் என்று கர்த்தர் சொல்லுகிறார்.
For I will be merciful to their wrongdoings, and I will no longer remember their sins.”’
13 ௧௩ புதிய உடன்படிக்கை என்று அவர் சொல்லுகிறதினாலே முந்தினதைப் பழமையாக்கினார்; பழமையானதும் நாள்பட்டதுமாக இருக்கிறது உருக்குலைந்துபோகும் காலம் நெருங்கியிருக்கிறது.
By speaking of a new covenant, God at once renders the former covenant obsolete; and whatever becomes obsolete and loses its force is virtually annulled.
